We’ve been chasing each other since we were kids, playing an endless, epic game of tag. Now that we’re both moving back to our hometown, I’m excited to make my next move.

He’s about to propose to his girlfriend, and I accidentally interrupt it by tackle tagging him. It turns out I saved him because she was going to say no anyway.

Jamie isn’t off limits anymore, and he wants one me.

We’re forced to confront how we really feel, and Jamie convinces me to give this thing between us a shot. But the more time we spend together, the more I start to feel like he’s never been just a friend. And that terrifies me.

Plus, I’m running my family’s bookstore on my own now, and I’m not prepared for how tough it is during a Harborview winter. And even though I’ve relied on Jamie to solve all my problems in the past, I want to prove to myself that I don’t need anyone to save me.

How can I tell her that she’s killing me, that a few inches of collarbone have never tortured me like this, that no one in the entire history of the universe has ever been filled with as much longing as I am right now?

You're It is a childhood best friends-to-lovers romance following two absolute cinnamon rolls as they navigate their way between friendship and romantic relationship.

And while I usually love me a slowburn, but I can be impatient so it's refreshing to see two individuals finally realize what they have is more than friendship and they're willing to explore this new thing between them.

The reason I chose to say it's refreshing is because getting them to that stage leaves us with an opportunity to explore the bond between two friends but also two individuals that passionately love each other further. While they usually say your partner is supposed to be your best friend, but unbalanced dynamics exist and the fear of losing one another if things get too much.

What I appreciate here is that getting together is not the ultimate goal or the happily ever after, this relationship has more of a realistic take in which both Cat and Jaime have their own emotional baggage that to sort through.

Also, the spice 🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼

If you're in the mood for a light romance read that is both cute and steamy, this is IT!

What a lovely lovely debut !
I was so taken by the characters and universe Lucy Harper has created (and with a bookshop playing a major role im always sold!).
She actively tried to avoid the usual romance clichés to give us a story full of emotional intelligence and characters’ depth and it was very sexy (and not only because of the spicy scenes !).
More than a romance, this was also an ode to friendships of all kinds and it was really heartwarming.

As someone who has read a LOT of romances, I highly recommend this one and I really can’t wait to discover more about some side characters in future books ☺️

This is the most adorably sweet, yet incredibly sexy contemporary romance I’ve read in AGES. The themes of emotional intelligence/who am I without this person feel so real and raw, I just wanted to give the main couple a giant bear hug! I couldn’t put this book down and I really think Lucy knocked it out of the park!

I read the synopsis for this and immediately put in for an ARC since it’s all my favorite tropes and it did not disappoint!

I was so absorbed into the story that I read this in like 2 days. Jamie and Cat have been best friends since they were toddlers and seeing them navigate the change in their relationship, as well as its and their own problems was wonderful. It was so well done, so much fun and so sweet. Friends to lovers will always be top tier. I love the Maine and bookstore setting so much as well!

I loved this a lot!

**ARC READER REVIEW**

Firstly, I would like to say thank you to Lucy for allowing me to read her debut novel early. It is a heartfelt story I will always remember.

‘You’re it’ is a poetic story of two childhood best friends who are navigating their way through early adult life, trying to find their place in the world, whilst also figuring out where they now fit into each others as things aren’t as simple as when they were younger.

Working through trust issues, meddling and disapproving parents, self image issues and the desire to be loved by the person you trust the most tied into a 20 year-long game of tag. This small town, childhood friends to lovers, second chance romance is perfect for a cosy heartfelt read.

Youre It de Lucy Harper Serie Harborview libro 1

Argumento:

(Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC! 💜)

This book in two words: delightful & spicy!

I couldn’t put it down! I loved the whole cast of characters, & they all were so *alive* to me. I could easily picture walking around Harborview & running into any of them, or walking into Holburn Books & picking out a book. Jamie & Cat are so adorable, & the way the author handled their arc of navigating who they were/who they wanted to be to each other was excellent, as well as their relationships to other characters & how those affected them as people & as a couple. I’m also high-key interested in what’s going on with other characters & where their (hopefully) future stories may take us. 👀

I truly can’t recommend this book enough. I would easily count this as one of my favorite books I’ve read so far this year. It was a delight to read & I can’t wait for others to read it too! 💜

This was a very fun, quick, cute best friends-to-lovers read!!! Lucy Harper had me GRINNING from the prologue and I could barely put the book down long enough to go to sleep.

I loved the touch on trying to find yourself amidst a friendship that turned into a relationship and how sometimes, certain aspects of a friendship change with that relationship aspect thrown in. It’s hard.

I did dock a star because I feel like the miscommunication trope was unnecessary when these were two lifelong best friends turned lovers, so with how well they knew each other, their conflict could’ve done without it. (I’m just not a big fan of miscommunication tropes in general, sorry!)

I love how their game of tag never ended and will never end as they navigate through life together. I ALSO love how “rushed” the proposal was. When you know, you know.

**** Thank you Lucy Harper for the ARC****

The book has the following elements in it:

*Best friends-to-lovers
*Small Town Romance
*Spice
*Silly but cute pranks

I read this book in about a day, I couldn't put it down once I actually started reading. The raw emotions that I felt reading about Cat and Jamie's relationship and how they had to go through the motions of who they were without the other was great.

There were times where I wish I could be there for both Cat and Jamie at times. Lucy did a great job with this one and I'm looking forward to future releases!

The first story in the Harborview series, this is a new Author to me and seems to be her debut story. Jamie Hart and Cat have been best friends since they were children. I enjoyed how they were always having fun with each other, I was happy to see them get their HEA. The story is well worth reading. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This book follows Jamie and Cat who are childhood best friends. They have a running game of tag and have embarrassed each other many times with this game. Jamie and Cat have just moved back home after living in LA and Jamie is working with his father who nobody can stand and Cat is taking over her parents bookstore. After Cat tags Jamie as he’s about to propose to his girlfriend, they both decide it’s finally time to be together.

While I liked the premise of the book and the tagging idea, I felt as if the relationship was very rushed at the beginning. There wasn’t much background about Cat and Jamie when they were little. The relationship was almost immediately in full bloom and I didn’t quite enjoy that most scenes they had together were se* scenes. I would have loved a bit more romantic date scenes such as the time Cat recreated a movie night like the ones they had in high school. Also, the third act breakup lasted for a tremendous amount of time. I don’t mind a third act breakup but this one was over independence and just thought it was silly how long it lasted. They got back together within the last chapter so there was nothing there to read about further. It was just fast then slow then fast. A whole plot of the book was also that Cat’s friend Angela had something weird going on with Jamie’s friend Carter. Angela wouldn’t share details but the whole Angela and Carter thing was brought up over and over again which I found to be a bit repetitive. It is my understanding that their story is the next book but I just think at times it took away from Jamie and Cat’s story.

I do recommend this book for the plot and the concept. If you don’t mind fast paced and a longer third act breakup than this book is for you. I personally just had a few things that I felt could have gone differently.

You’re it by Lucy Harper is an incredibly fun, heartwarming best friends-to-lovers romance novel.

The things I loved:
- How real the friendship between Jamie and Cat felt
- How I was never left wondering why these characters didn’t just get together earlier (a weak point
for many friends-to-lovers romances to me)
- Well-written and well-fleshed out side characters
- The writing style

Thank you to the author for the ARC!

I received You’re It as an ARC from Lucy Harper.

This book was the equivalent of being wrapped up in a blanket and drinking a warm cup of tea. The characters felt so real and the transition from friends to more was incredibly heartwarming. You could really feel the hesitation on both sides about taking the leap. I loved every second of it and cannot wait to see more from the very talented Lucy Harper!!

Such a beautiful contemporary romance I've read in a while. It was well-written. The plot and the characters felt fresh and raw. They were equally interesting and adorable. The mutual pining and all those swoon-worthy moments were to die for. Also, the game of tag was such an exciting element in the story and I totally enjoyed it.

If you are looking for a sweet, emotional, and, heart-warming read that you can finish in a day or two, go for it!

4 Stars When I first began You're It by Lucy Harper I thought to myself, "I can totally picture this as a cute romcom movie, maybe on Hallmark or something." But as I got further into the book, there was more angst and heart-wrenching moments that I would've expected for a book with such a cute cover lol

Jamie and Cat have been best friends for over twenty years and have a long-running game of tag for just as long. They try to choose the most embarrassing and surprising moments to say "you're it" to the other. When Cat tackles Jamie for a tag just as he's about to propose to his girlfriend, she's the one who's embarrassed and even more confused by the emotions that the thought of Jamie proposing to someone else stirs up in her. Jamie is relieved that Cat interrupted his proposal and saved him the embarrassment of his girlfriend saying no, citing his close friendship with Cat and obvious love for her as the reason. Jamie has always known in the back of his mind that Cat is the one for him, but he's been too afraid to risk losing their friendship to try...until now. Cat fully realizes her suppressed feelings for Jamie as well and the two embark on a relationship. The transition from best friends to dating isn't an easy one and presents new challenges. How can they balance this new aspect of their relationship when they've been so dependent on one another for years?

As I said before, I was not expecting the angst in this one. At one point I even felt sick to my stomach because of how heartbroken I was for both Jamie and Cat. Though they didn't go about it in the right way at first, I loved how they were finally able to talk about their issues, both individually and as a couple, that were preventing them from being good for each other and good as a couple at that moment. We love a man who does work on himself and goes to therapy to be better for the woman he loves and Jamie was *chef's kiss* This is the first book in a new series and I'm excited for who the next book will be about. My bet is Carter and Angela, since there's clearly something brewing between the two of them. I can't wait to see!

Sometimes a book pleasantly surprises you and this one falls in that category for me. I haven't been the biggest fan of friends to lovers stories previously but I could be if more of them were like this one! During the first third of the book I started thinking this was going to land in the 3-star range for me, but then it crept up to 4-star and ended as a sold 5 stars.

Jamie & Cat (aka "Cat Cat") have been best friends for 20+ years and their romantic relationship took shape in a way that felt a bit "insta-love" for my personal preference but what really pulled me into this story was the emotional journey each character had to go on both together and separately. Yes, there is a third-act breakup in this book which I know can be controversial but this was a third-act breakup done right. It was one of the only times I can remember actively rooting for these characters to have a breakup because I could see what they each needed to do during that breakup to grow. It wasn't just them being sad for a week and then deciding they can't live without each other. They used their time apart to become a better person and address their own personal issues so that they could be a better partner for the other in the future. It was beautiful and heart-warming and the biggest reason this book quickly upgraded its star rating as I got further into the story.

The ending was saccharine and sweet, and the HEA felt truly earned. If anything, I could ask for a longer Epilogue so that we could relish in that ending a bit longer. I can't wait for whatever Lucy Harper is going to publish next!

📖 Jamie and Cat are best friends. Like, have been inseparable since they could walk kind of best friends. They have a tradition of playing tag, and the tags get grander and more extreme as they get older. But when Cat's tag ruins Jamie's proposal to his (now ex) girlfriend, they stop to examine the game - and their friendship. They give dating a try, but have a hard time figuring out the boundaries between friendship and a relationship. As Cat's bookstore struggles, she realizes she has always relied on Jamie to solve her problems. Both struggle to be more emotionally independent, while maintaining a friendship and romantic relationship. Is it even possible to go from best friends to lovers?

💭 What an amazing debut novel! All the best tropes - small town, friends to lovers, pining, pranks, sweet and spicy. Cat takes over her parents' bookstore, but it's struggling in the winter season. Her fears and struggles were relatable. She desires help, but wants to prove herself and is conflicted with relying so much on Jamie. Jamie, still living with his awful dad and dealing with lingering anxiety since his mom left years ago, heavily relies on Cat's friendship for validation that he's loved. I sometimes feel that the friends to lovers trope is unrealistic - the characters' reasons for not being together just don't seem like enough, but I did not feel that way in this book. They had a lot of events from their pasts that they needed to work through - and did! Their growth as individuals was important to them. The spice ✨, the town, the side characters - loved it all!

💕 Honestly this is one of the most beautiful debut novels I’ve read. It was so good that I couldn’t put it down. I really loved Jamie and Cat story. They are so sweet, so perfect for each other, and the story was adorably yet sexy. I admit I’m not a person who read a lot friends to lovers but this one is definitely one of my favorites now.

One of my favorite things of the book is how real it felt while I was reading it. The characters were so dynamic and transparent to me, it gets difficult between them but they always figure it out. They have a lot of emotional intelligence that it gets easy to understand their feelings and their fears through the story.

I have the greatest time reading You’re it, Jamie and Cat were so hilarious and their chemistry since the first page is so intense.
The way they think about each other just… omg those weren’t friendly thoughts at all… their intentions hidden beneath their actions. The wanting, the need, the longing… and all of that was worth it🩷

Cat is so sensitive and funny, she’s always trying to make things better. Always being a good friend, a good daughter, a good neighbor, she’s so sweet and tender but sometimes she just forget her own feelings, though she is strong and kind.

Jamie is the most sensitive of them both, he really hide his feelings specially the ones that bring him sadness of insecurity, but at the same time thanks to that fears I felt him fearless, he’s not afraid of what he really wants. but he’s always this kind of charming guy who everyone loves. The only thing Jamie has ever wanted and try to hide was his feelings for cat. Until he can’t hide his feelings for her anymore.

I love them together. I loved reading their relationship grew up. I loved that they talked about how they loved each other, their fears. Every couple has problems, but I really liked that they’re figured it out, like they always did. Together but this time as a romantic couple.

To describe it i would say its a cute, lively and refreshing, best-friends to lovers, i liked it but for me, bjectively speaking not enough to give it four stars. It’s a pretty good debut nonetheless.

It explores the journey of Jamie and Cat, best friends who realized that they actually have deeper feelings for each other and they may be more suited as a romantic couple. I really liked their dynamic in the beginning and it was interesting to read how different the situation between them became after they decided to own the reality of their relationship, they had to navigate the fact that as friends they supposedly could tell whatever they were feeling but as a couple they found it difficult to communicate. Also they had to deal with the very obvious codependency issues derived from being each other moral and emotional support since they were kids, they literally were only for them two if it makes sense, not really available for anyone although they tried.

I think one of the reasons why i didn’t connect enough was the fact that I’m more accustomed to reading enemies to lovers or completely strangers falling in love than reading best friends so i often thought why was so difficult for them to have a natural romantic relationship if they already passed the part of knowing everything about the other with flying marks, but i got it at the end, the need for them to realize that maybe before advancing to the next stage they had to first learn to be individually and to understand that the friendship aspect wasn’t going to disappear just because.

I was very kindly given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review:
It’s really hard to believe that this is Lucy’s debut novel because this was written so well. It flowed beautiful and I didn’t find myself pulled out of the narrative due to clunky writing etc.

This was a well executed friends to lovers romance story with a simple but fun plot. The spice in this book was entertaining and enjoyable, plus Jamie had a few lines and thoughts in these chapters that had me blushing 🙌

‘“If I don’t get my mouth on you right now I’m going to die,” he says as he settles between my thighs.’ -pg 156
I mean need I say more 🥵😂

I really like that they didn’t just disregard their friendship and that the issues of moving from friendship to relationship were dealt with properly and not just pushed aside. As much as I dislike the miscommunication trope I didn’t hate it in this book as it felt necessary for them to figure themselves out separately. Before coming back together.

I liked the sub plot around the bookstore and the romance author friend. I loved that Cat loved to read romance books and owned the family bookstore I think that added to the cozy feelings of this story.

The main reason this didn’t reach 5 stars for me was I wanted a little more angst and longing in the beginning as characters started dating pretty quickly in the story. However this is purely personal preference and not a mark against the book at all!

I adored the Tag game concept of this book, it was funny, cleaver, emotional and even spicy at times! Really enjoyed that aspect of this book, it keeps them connected even when disconnected.

My favourite quote was:
‘Talking to Cat, even for a few minutes, feels like reading your favourite childhood book all over again.’

Because if anyone ever said that about me I’d fold faster than a cheap camping chair! 😍🤣

If you love Friends to Lovers and a fun cute romance I’d definitely recommend picking this one up! I had so much fun reading 🥰

If you’re questioning yourself if you should dnf, this is a sign for you to keep reading.

Jamie and Cat are already together and we’re not halfway yet to this book. I hated the characters… so much… initially. The thing is, I stopped at 47% and took a break (almost a week) because I mutually agree with how Jamie sees Cat, if I may borrow Jamie’s words, immature. But you see, when I pushed through with the chapter, whatever that made me repulsed with the characters, the latter half made up for it. I feel like the author made her characters unlikable at the start so I could like them more by the end.

I understand that the reason why I didn’t like this as much at first was because I did not consider this as slow burn. It’s not a book where they just started to have feelings for each other, but more on how they’ll act on the feelings they’ve always had all along. I was cringing with how they’re playing the game (and the main plot revolves around it), but I found it cute as their relationship progressed.

They’re so cute :)

P.S. There’s quite a few(?) smut scenes in the book, so there’s that if you’re into (or not) it. I don’t think it reveal much to their relationship, so if you’re not into that, you can skip them

P.S.S. Lucy Harper is so good in making the readers to want more of her characters, and that’s to say I’m excited to read Finally Ours.

Firstly i’d like to thank Lucy Harper for an ARC of her debut novel and sadly i have to say that even though I was a target audience, this didn’t hit the mark for me. That’s in no way saying that this wasn’t a sweet somewhat cozy read because it was!! Lucy is an amazing author and I can’t wait to see her next novel. This was more along the lines of having strongly opposing opinions with our FMC. Our MMC was not without fault but the FMC was who i had my MAIN bone to pick with.

🏹anyways let me talk about some of the things i liked:
i liked the tagging game esp the intro scene at the airport. That made me smile like an idiot, it was so sweet and endearing.
🏹i loved the hints at possible future couple (i’m dying to know what’s going on with carter and angie).
🏹love catherine’s girlboss moment when she renovated the bookstore and added things she was passionate about.
🏹the town sounded so quaint and cozy, i hate the snow but i’d def visit in the summer.

This book was honestly so amazing it brought up so many topics that so many people experience and go through in their lives.

This book contains:
Small Town
Best Friends To Lovers
Second Chance
Bookseller x Lawyer
Dual POV

Cat and Jamie have been best friends for 20 years, they have experienced everything together and haven’t really been apart. We get to experience their journey through their friends to lovers relationship.

I loved that we got to see the playful side of Cat and Jamie with the tag game but we also got to see their more valuable side as well.

They have some tough times where they struggle to stop always relying on each other and it is really hard for them to break that cycle.

But we also get to see them grow when they do have time apart and learn to lean on other people for help and support.

I really loved getting to experience their journey together and seeing them learn to respect each other’s boundaries.

Overall this book was honestly so amazing and I would encourage anyone to read this because you won’t be disappointed.

This story was so adorably sweet, but also spicy.. I was hooked! And also, I wanna be Cat’s best friend. It doesn’t happen often, but I was way more intrigued by the FMC than the MMC. Don’t get me wrong, I love Jamie, and his character development was huge. But honestly, it was Cat that I needed more of.

The tag game had me giggling me, I loved the uniqueness of that! My favorite tags were during the spiiiice. This cutesy book sure had some hot scenes 🤭

If you’ve read my reviews before, you know I love the raw and vulnerable parts. It always makes me a story feel more real and relatable. The character development, and the way they better themselves not just for each other, but for them too. I love the emotional intelligence and recognizing when you need to work on yourself first.

This is such a great debut by Lucy! I honestly can’t wait for more.. I was picking up those breadcrumbs she was leaving 😏

Cat and Jamie are best friends, always putting each other first. The problem with this is they aren't kids anymore. Jamie's relationship with his dad is dire, he'll never live up to his father's expectations and Cat certainly isn't somebody his dad thinks as suitable for Jamie. Now they are both back in their hometown,Cat because her parents are finally retiring and Jamie's dad wants him to be in the family law firm working his way up. When Cat messed up Jamie's proposal to his girlfriend on christmas eve, everything changes. Can they really keep doing this being in each others lives. Can they really keep ignoring the feelings they each have but don't want to act on. I enjoyed the story and the that how opposite each character was helped the story. I just thought it was a bit drawn out but still think the book is worth a read

I rated this book a four star ⭐️ because it was sooo cute and EXTREMELY well written. I loved the character progression and the way they worked on themselves throughout the book.
I really enjoyed the fact that she owned a bookshop and was passionate about books as this is something that I really relate to and aspire to be.
However, this book was not a five star ⭐️ for me because of the miscommunication trope in it . I usually HATE miscommunication but the author has a way with words that just made me forgive this trope in the book. I also feel it was necessary to the storyline and development of characters that this trope be present.

I think Lucy Harper is an amazing author and I can’t wait to see what she brings out next. 💗💗

You're it is so well written it's hard to believe this is the authors first book. The writing is very high quality, and the main characters are very well fleshed out. The author describes actual human beings who are flawed and have to work on being better. They go to therapy, and they have gross cries on the floor. It's actually relatable!!!

I think it's also necessary to talk about the spice too. The sex is very well written. It's not icky like some books can be. There's no "seated to the hilt" nonsense here. It's spicy and well written.

I was so lucky to be selected as an ARC reader, and i can't recommend this book enough. I will be purchasing a physical copy for my personal library. I think I already know who the next couple will be, and I can't wait to read what's next!
