This Christmas, the only thing harder than resisting Max… Is remembering why I should.
Landing the Wellington Christmas Gala was supposed to be my big break.
Then I walked into the interview and saw Max Wellington—my college ex.
The man I never quite got over.
Max is brooding and closed-off, still haunted by his past.
But the way he cares for his daughter, and the way he looks at me…
It’s impossible to resist.
I came to New York to focus on my career, not to fall back into old feelings.
But every time I’m near Max, I feel myself slipping into old habits.
And when we kissed under the mistletoe…
The lines we drew disappeared.
This Christmas, we’re trying to make magic for his daughter.
But somewhere along the way, he’s making me believe in it again too.
I just hope my heart can handle it.

Max Wellington was in a relationship with Ellie 15 years ago. They didn’t last for reasons that seem to have to do with Max being selfish, that’s a bit muddy, and Max ultimately married and had a child. In present day, Max has a young daughter and has been a widower for 4 years. When Ellie moves to NY and has a contract with Wellington Hotels to throw their large Christmas event, they are suddenly in each other’s orbit and they are forced to confront their long hidden feelings for each other.
I liked this book, a lot. Ellie has always been in love with Max, he’s the one that got away and she soon fall in love with his daughter. Max also loves Ellie but fights his feelings really hard throughout the book. They form a deal to fake a relationship to keep his mother from setting him up but of course that leads to them exploring their true feelings. Cute story, quick read. Good mix of holiday setting and spicy second chance romance.

Christmas with My Grumpy Ex is part of the multi-author Feuding Hearts Christmas series. I enjoyed this book, even if I wanted to kick the MMC's butt more times than I want to admit. This is a second chance romance between Ellie and Max. They had gone to college together and were in a relationship. But he broke up with her and the reason is never really there. Now it is several years later and Ellie is about to get her big break in her career.....that is until it turns out Max is involved. He is now a single father to a sweet daughter, Amelia. He has changed in ways but is he really ready to have a real relationship. Max and Ellie are back and forth several times with the "will they or won't they", which for me was a few times too many. But overall the story is enjoyable and the writing is good.
This is a definite second chance romance. It is of course the holiday season and she is a event planner and stylist. So she comes in for the interview memories and reminiscing starts to happen and she's hired. And then she's offered to be his fake girlfriend to stop his mother from trying to put him back into the social dating scene. It's been four going on five years since his wife passed away and Amelia his daughter loves her. So there's the gala she's supposed to create from his mother's vision. So things happen and is the holiday season! Good read. Lot of festivities and activities to do in New York that they described. Makes you want to go and participate and bring my souvenirs. There's a lot of emotion that was also evolving in the story that grabs and keeps your attention. Good read.

Emotionally engaging elevator ride with some steam and very supportive family/friend circles. He's a great Dad, dedicated to her and his career, coming face to face with his college love blindsides him. I get that, I just wish he could've cleared out closet before any relationship type gestures. I kinda felt like he was stringing her along. She's brave, hopeful, career-driven and has a big heart. Both characters are likeable, share magnetic chemistry but they tested my nerve with their indecisiveness as their mind, heart and soul struggle with reconnecting and rekindling. Sometimes you lose to win, hang in there, emotions are high but a little Christmas magic is amazing.
This was a sweet read! Although Max got on my nerves for most of the book, pining over his dead wife the way he was. I could have sworn he said that he and his wife were not lovers, more like co-parents. So I couldn't understand why he resisted so hard to let love in. I also wish I knew what caused him and Ellie to break up the first time. Ellie had the patience of a saint and obviously loved him, even though he played in her face several times. But all's fair when it comes to love. And he finally got his act together. So that's what's most important. Amelia was such a sweet little girl. I enjoyed this book a lot!
Max and Ellie were college sweethearts. For some reason he broke up with her. Fast forward several years Max is a widower with a wonderful daughter Amelia. When Ellie was hired by Max 's family to plan their extravagant Christmas galas. While Ellie is a career driven woman, it is obvious she still has feelings for Max. She's wonderful with his daughter. Max on the other hand can't get over his dead wife. He wants Ellie but his guilt over her death stops him. The weird thing is he said their marriage was more an arrangement and there wasn't much love, so why is he so guilt ridden? Book is an easy read.
First of all this book should not be “Christmas with my grumpy ex” because there is nothing grumpy at all about this ex-boyfriend. I felt like she had three different ideas of how to go about this book and try to cohesively put them together. I started it with. Wow this is gonna be good but then it started going downhill. There is some good reading in here but repetition that was not needed, but I wish it had more dialogue in this book instead of thoughts. there are a few things that were left unanswered. All in all it had potential to be a much better book.
A surprise second chance mixed with the holiday season. Ellie is establishing her business career in NY. An opportunity arises & she bumps into her ex, Max. Max has his plate full. Single parent, running a hotel while his brother handles affairs, and grieving a loss.
The attraction between these two is good. Well written. Semi steamy scenes. A good read to get you into the holiday romance.

Max was content with his daughter and being alone. Ellie was growing her business and enjoying life, until she is hired to be the event planner to luxury hotel in NYC! When she realizes she will be working with her ex she is apprehensive and nervous! The magic of Christmas has a way of bringing two hearts together! A great read!
A wonderful story about two people who loved each in the past, Max and Ellie and finding their way back together after 15 years The story unfolds as only Ja’Nese can write it with love, a beautiful daughter, family, romance and the Christmas spirit all tied up in a red bow
The author has given us a heartwarming story that pulls us into the lives of Max, Ella and his daughter, Amelia. The story keeps us turning the pages with a shared past, old feelings resurfacing, secrets, revelations and steam.

I enjoyed reading Max and Ellie's story. This was a nice read loved Max's daughter and the rest of the characters. I hope there's a book out there about Carson and Quanie she sounds like fun. Can't wait to read Andy's story I hope. Good job Ms. Dixon and thank you. 👍🙏🎄
This second chance story is filled with heartwarming and heartbreaking moments, Max who is a widower is grasping to life but not living enter a blast from the past and the book gets fast track on memory lane but all is not what it seems to be, doubts railroad his plans, all for our greatest pleasure, I was really routing for him.

This story had me screaming at Max telling him to get on with his life. He had so many unresolved issues to work through. Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. I enjoyed it and look forward to the next installment of the series! Hopefully, there will be one!
I enjoyed this Christmas themed storyline with past memories, present drama, romance, and grief. Love and grief can make strange bedfellows 😔. But love will help with healing if you're ready. Good read 😉.

I really loved reading this book. I like it because finally the male ends up whining and having self esteem issues. On the flip side I liked the brothers a d Amelia. Hop this is s series.
Max is infuriating but Amelia is adorable! Matchmaking Patricia is a trip and you will love her! This couple deserved their happily ever after. The heartbreak was real as well as the love! A good book!
The Christmas spirit abounds in this lovely story of second chances and found family after loss. There are some hurdles for Max and Ellie, and I found myself crying for them at some parts, but overall I enjoyed their journey.
Ja’Nese does well to create the love-tussle Christmas magic in Christmas with My Grumpy Ex. It’s worth reading especially if you are torn with the decision to move forward after losing a loved one. Happy Reading!
Omg! I'm so glad I found this book. It's been a while since I've found a book that I couldn't put down. The love Max and Ellie have for each other had me crying. This book really touched my heart.
