Cassidy Heart is living a boozy bookworm’s dream, co-owning a book themed bar with her best friend. She has built herself up through years of therapy after losing her parents at sixteen. Sticking to her pact with her best friend, Cassidy chooses to make herself the priority in her own life by saying yes to more experiences, including attending her upcoming ten year high school reunion.
It’s a convenient coincidence that Jameson Bennette’s next house remodel and Cypress Lake High School’s ten year reunion are happening at the same time and in the same location. He can ease himself back into town, enjoy a drink, and pass a few awkward stories between old friends. He isn’t prepared to literally barrel into the woman he pined for all throughout high school.
After Cassidy and Jameson are formally introduced, feelings resurface. He’s funny and even more handsome than she remembers. He can’t get past the fact he let her slip away so many years ago. The closer he gets to completing his renovation project, the reality of Jameson’s impending departure weighs on them both.
They have a decision to will this be another missed connection or could this finally be the blueprint to their forever?
This was Nicole Devonne’s debut novel so for a first book, it was good.
The characters were likeable, the side characters had me wanting to know more about them and it had a sweet HEA.
There were some things I didn’t love though.
There was quite a bit of repetition, particularly around the main characters history.
I LOVE seeing more variety in body shapes being represented in books, so yay for that, but I struggled with how frequently the FMC’s body was described. So many mentions of soft tummy and big thighs it grew quite frustrating. Her size shouldn’t be important enough to need to be constantly mentioned, in my opinion. I feel like it was described well early on so not sure what purpose it served being mentioned several times a chapter.
The story didn’t draw me in strongly and I honestly struggled to get through it because I found myself getting distracted rather than being engrossed.
All in all, a solid first book, but plenty of room to improve and refine over time which I look forward to seeing.

Cassidy and Jameson reconnect at their 10 year high school reunion and the chemistry is palpable. After missing out on their connection throughout high school, they decide to explore their teenaged crushes.
Jameson’s MOUTH?!? Oh my word 🥵 I love how down bad they are for each other and that they finally get to explore their connection that’s been brewing since high school. I also really enjoyed the portrayal of strong female friendships and how they can be just as fulfilling as a romantic partner. Jameson and Cassidy had off the charts chemistry and were so healthy in their discussions. Cassidy was so confident and well established and it was nice to see her growth from her teen self to her adult self.
Shaken Tropes sounds like something from my dreams and I wish there was something like it in my town. Mixed drinks and books? Count me in.
Thank you to Nicole Devonne for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review!
I discovered this book by chance, I just so happened to be at a bookstore where Nicole Devonne was doing a signing and the name of the book and the drink recipe & sticker she had sitting on the table caught my eye. I’m so glad I took a chance on this book, it was such a cute romance read full of self love. It was full of a wonderful, healthy, and happy relationship. It was full of friendships and wit and banter. I loved being able to follow along with Cassidy and Jameson on their journey. I also loved Cassidy’s love for books and Jameson fulling embracing that and reading her favorites. I loved seeing Cassidy having her own business that had to do with what she loves, books and drinks. A literal dream business and now I want to open one myself. I will admit I found Cassidy and her friends a tad bit childish at times for their age in the book but they were great friends who had each other’s backs. The little break in left me a little confused, not entirely sure why that part was needed but maybe I missed something. I would definitely recommend this to any romcom lovers, it was a refreshing read and you’ll end up with a new book boyfriend.
I’m always drawn to the fast pace and action of fantasy romance so this book is out of my normal genre pull. But I was impressed! It takes really lovable characters with deep emotional connection to keep me interested when reading a contemporary romance. AND THIS BOOK HAD ME CRYINGGG. 🥹🥰
This is a slower rolling story about life and love. We are living the characters lives and being immersed in their past, present, insecurities, strengths, friendships and accomplishments. Reading through these pages feels like cheering on a best friend.
Our FMC is a curvy black woman who owns a book and drink shop and I am here for it. Baby girl! What is the address? I need to spend every Sunday afternoon hereeee. I really admire her energy, and that note alone makes this book. I smiled so much. Her raw truth, the peeks into her past and struggles, the freedom shes felt through therapy and her own strength. It’s so relatable and refreshing and deep.
The girl gang was absolutely incredible and I felt instant connection with their group and the support they have for each other. Their text thread is unparalleled. 🙌🏼
And our MMC? Sir! He is the sweetest bulldozer ever. And I adore how he absolutely worships her. 😭💕 Every woman deserves to be loved like that. The banter. The spice. The presence. *swoon*
I definitely enjoyed this book and can’t wait until book 2!
"I want to build more than just this house with you, but our lives." 💕
Cassidy and Jameson are goals!! 🖤 Cassidy is definitely a bit needy because of her past, but Jameson is exactly what she needs. A couple of points she made me a bit mad by not just using her words and talking to him, but it's a story right... If it was totally smooth sailing I guess it'd be dull.
But overall this was a really enjoyable read and I I want to go to Shaken Tropes soooooooo bad!!! 🍸📚Like make that be a real place right now!! What a genius idea for a bar.
The side characters were really entertaining too and I kinda hope Anders and Paloma maybe get their own story next. I don't know if that's the plan for them or not, but I'd love it to be.
I was fortunate enough to alpha read this book. It’s warm, happy, and light, and the perfect kind of book to read if you’re feeling down or just want to escape reality for a little while. And let me just say, Jameson stole my heart right from the beginning.
Get yourself an adult beverage (if you so choose), get yourself a cozy blanket, and get lost in Cassidy and Jameson’s story. You won’t regret it!
This is the kind of book and characters you simply fall head over heels in love with. The FMC goes through so much internal growth with realistic, but at times heart breaking dialogue. You just want to hug her and join her friend squad to cheer her on. While the mmc, wow. He is a dream. And naturally my new favorite book bf.
This one is soft, loving, and sweet. Also a reminder that sometimes the love you think you missed is waiting right around the corner for you 😜😁❤️🥰
Thank you to the author for allowing me the gift of being an arc reader for this amazing book.
TW - high school bullying (past, mentioned), body shaming (past and on page, not by the MMC), emotional neglect (parents), abandonment issues, parental death (drunk driver, past, recounted), breaking and entering, physical violence, anxiety, alcohol consumption, grief (past, mentioned), death of a partner (sc, mentioned), heart stent surgery (sc, mentioned)
CW - light spanking, hand necklace
Tropes - missed connection, wrong number, you came… you called, light jealousy, found family
Representation - Black MCs, plus size, queer scs
This started off really well for me. Cassidy (FMC) and Jameson (MMC) went to the same high school and secretly had a crush on each other but weren’t friends and had never spoken but, a high school reunion reconnects them and they hit it off straight away.
I thought the characters connected well and I liked that they both had their own lives and businesses and it didn’t get pushed to the side in order to pursue something together. I also liked their friends and how they all interacted together.
The 80% mark was disappointing. Something happens and they discuss it immediately; I was happy it wasn’t made a bigger deal than it actually was and I even felt proud of the characters for their communication. Cassidy, however, goes on to catastrophise a situation for, seemingly no reason, as she lets her insecurities win and that was really disappointing for me. While reading, I got the vibe that the characters were better than that but this crashed me right back down to reality and that’s literally how quickly this went from a 4 ⭐ to a 3 ⭐.
Cassidy forces ‘space’ on them without hearing anything from Jameson and her reaction felt infantile to me. She kept saying he needs this and that but didn’t actually ask him anything. She essentially hurt her own feelings and it was hard to feel for her because of it. My biggest gripe is her knowing that she did something stupid but continued on with it anyway; at this point, it feels like a waste of time.
I’m pretty sure this a debut and it is a good debut and, overall, a cute story. I did think there was a lot of repeating of the same information and a lot more telling than showing but, all in all, it was a decent read.
Scale: ⭐️ - would've DNF'ed / continued out of spite ⭐️⭐️ - shit, but whatever ⭐️⭐️⭐️ - meh, could've been better ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - lit 👅 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - loved it, inject this shit into my veins 🤪
“Seeing you love what you do is attractive as hell, if I’m being honest with you.”
I was honored to be an ARC reader for this wonderful second chance romance! Can I please go to Cypress lake? Pretty please? I need to go to Shaken Tropes, attend the Toasted book club, and eat at Eggs Benny immediately! (Read it and meet me there!) The writing in this small town romance is amazing! I immediately connected with and love the characters! From the FMC Cassidy, to the drool worthy MMC Jameson, and all the other characters including the close knit girls group! The deep female friendships in this book are like a warm hug. Between the text message shennagains (both between the main couple and the girl group), bunny slippers with good ‘traction’ and an Alexa who refuses to listen with an audiobook playing a little too loudly I think you will fall in love with this book too!
There are so many great parts to recall and mention in this story that I could go on for a while! I was already squealing out loud and kicking my feet by chapter four!
I also adore the overarching theme or message of “Saying yes,” especially to those things that bring us joy and set us on fire!
The author was even kind enough to include a D*ckionary guide for those who want to know where all the spiciness takes place!
Another thing I absolutely love (and have seen more and more often) is indie authors mentioning other authors books in our own works! Keep your eyes peeled and see if you can spot them in Mixed Connections!
“If you don’t stop worrying that lip of yours, I’m going to have to find some other way to keep it busy.”
Other reasons I enjoyed this book and you should read it: -Mental Health Rep -Duel POV -Many reasons to squeal out loud and kick your feet! -“Babygirl” -Dog Niece - because dogs are family! -Insta- lust to love -Text message shenanigans
"I love you, Cassidy Heart. You're the blueprint. Always have been. Always will be. Every curve, every dip, every smirk. You're it for me." Jamie boy ❤
The ARC I've been waiting for, for SO LONG! Can't believe I've already finished it 😭 I feel so proud of my dear friend for actually going for it and completing her manuscript, after sleeping on it for a while! It feels surreal that one of my closest friends in the bookish community is releasing her debut, and I couldn't be happier for her ❤
Jameson was charismatic and easy to be around. He was funny, supportive, and a pretty chill and easygoing guy. He was also very driven. With an architecture degree under his belt and flipping houses with his best bud, Anderson, Jamie boy proved himself to be an ideal partner for Cassie ❤ I loved how he didn't feel threatened by her past, or shame her for being a romance bookworm and linking her love of ink on paper to her source of income ❤
Cassidy had a lonely childhood, with her parents prioritizing their work instead of watching their daughter grow 💔 her high school years seemed to have been rather challenging as well, just like they have been for many of us, I'm sure. She spent years questioning herself, wondering whether she was good enough to be loved and put first 😭 but she grew up to be a very confident woman, learning to love her body image and all her broken pieces ❤
This was such a beautiful case of "Right person, wrong time" with two high school crushes reuniting after so many years, finally acting on the feelings they shied away from back in their teenage years ❤
This was a cute and lighthearted, high school crush to lovers story 🩷 I need a bar like Shaken Tropes in real life!
⭐ Rating Criteria ⭐
🩷 Plot:
The story started off really good. Right off the bat, I felt a connection to the FMC, and to the plot - honestly, it felt like my life written in a book for the first two chapters. However, my attention waned from the halfway point to the end because there was just too much backstories popping up, and they made the chapters longer than they should have been. And, towards the end, I felt that the cohesiveness of the plot was ruined. Some scenes seemed like were randomly inserted into the plot, and strewn together just to try and get more action into the story.
🩷 Characters:
I think the characters were good. The FMC, Cassidy, was relatable, and among all of the FMCs I've read so far, I felt like I connected with her the most. While the other characters were also cute, they didn't really leave much of an impression on me. I loved the found family trope in this, though.
🩷 Theme:
This story had the themes of bullying, self-love and acceptance, and I think they were written quite well into the plot. The author did a good job of giving this story realistic and relatable points utilizing those themes.
🩷 Overall:
I thought this was a good read. However, I hoped it would've been better. I had high hopes because I loved the first few chapters, but the build-up just fell flat in the end. Sad that it ended up how it did because it really did start off strong.
Thank you to Flying Pig PR and the author for allowing me to share my honest review on this ARC!
Thank you Ashley for allowing me to read your first book baby. I’ve been with you at the barest bones of Mixed connections. And I’m honored that I get to reread it and will reread MC again and again for years to come.
Cassidy and Jameson shared an oblivious, but mutual, teenage crush which is reignited when they bump into each other at their ten year high school reunion. Is this fate’s way of bringing them together for good? Or will this be another missed connection?
What to Expect: •First book in the Cypress Lake Reunion series •missed connections •second chance •black love •plus size fmc •bulldozer cinnamon roll MMC •kicking your feet & giggling like a high school girl •spicy chapters •found family •he reads her book recs •wrong number •insta-lust to love •text message shenanigans •open door spice •girlhood •first person, dual POV •Trigger Warning ⚠️ (may contain spoilers) *negative comments about the FMC's body (not by MMC) *emotional neglect from parents *death of parents due to drunk driver (off page) *light breath play *break-in *on-page sex scenes •and so much more
Ashley’s writing is like a warm blanket wrapped around you with a steaming hot mug of hot chocolate and the fireplace crackling while you watch the rain drizzle through the window on a cold fall day. It’s comforting in a way that I will be rereading this book when I need exactly that. I love all the characters that come into this story. My absolute favorite part, besides the love between Cassidy and Jameson, is the girl gang. The women friendships are unparalleled and what everyone should aspire to be. I really can’t wait for the next couples story.
Sweet, funny, page-turner: I think it was an overall great read!
I just loved the beginning of Jameson and Cassidy's relationship. The flirting, the text messages, the funny banter, it was all great. Jameson and Cassidy also had fiery chemistry that jumped off the pages and I loved the dicktionary provided by the author at the beginning making it easy for the spice-loving girlies to find the spicy stuff. lol!
I also really liked the relationship/friendships/sisterhood between the ladies in this story. They really loved on and supported each other and it was very nice to see. Cassidy had been through so much growing up so it was nice to see that she was finally getting the love she always wanted and that through her hard work in therapy, this journey has led her to know and realize that she is enough and deserves good things.
Sometimes in life, all we have to do is say yes and give ourselves a chances. Cassidy decided to go with her gut and be more adventurous and it paid off big time for her. I just enjoyed this one so much. It was a beautiful story not only about finding love and loving others but a story about loving oneself, cherishing oneself and giving grace to oneself.
Overall great read that I would highly recommend.

I got to dive into Mixed Connection early, and let me tell y’all, it’s a feel-good romance with just the right amount of heart. Cassidy, the FMC, is a plus-sized, book-loving bar owner with a sunny personality and a few lingering struggles from her past. She and her best friend, Paloma, run Shaken Tropes, a bar where the drinks are named after romance novel tropes, and you’re encouraged to relax with a good book. Where do I sign up? Cassidy’s journey is all about stepping out of her comfort zone and letting herself dream of a life that’s as exciting as the stories she loves.
Then there’s Jameson, the handsome MMC who’s back in town for his high school reunion. He’s the guy who quietly crushed on Cassidy back in the day but never said a word. When they reconnect, sparks fly, but it’s not all smooth sailing. Cassidy is learning to let someone in without losing herself, and Jameson is patient and sweet, proving he’s more than worth the effort.
What I loved most is how this story handles mental health—it’s honest about the ongoing process of healing and the reality that hard moments still pop up even after doing the work. Cassidy's journey reminds me a lot of my own. How going to certain places and seeing certain people after all that time can still sting after you go through a bunch of therapy. But, it was sweet to see her on the other side of that. This book has all the charm of a classic but with enough depth to make it so memorable.
Crush to strangers to lovers is one of my favourite tropes, and Mixed Connection nails that on the head. The years-in-the-making romance between Cassidy and Jameson is so so sweet - the flirty glances and touches that finally explode into fantastic spicy scenes are so well done. I loved the friends as found family as well - the close-knit group of friends for each of them that stand beside each other no matter what. When secondary characters get me invested in their story, it means the author has done a great job in developing their personalities on-page, and this books has some good ones.
Overall I enjoyed this debut by Nicole Devonne. It's a great read that doesn't shy away from some heavy topics (check the TWs as always) including how past trauma can impact adult relationships. I also loved the normalizing of working with a therapist, an important topic that isn't written about enough.
I did find there was a lot of repetition in this book, the best way I can describe it is over-written. Multiple/duplicate explanations of the same backstory and paragraphs where a sentence would have sufficed. Admittedly, I found myself skimming through chapters in the middle when the excess words became a bit overwhelming - the bachelorette party scene as almost unnecessary and didn't add any oomph to the story. I think it overshadowed what is a really cute book and important storyline.
Note: I was gifted an ARC of Mixed Connection by the author and Flying Pig PR in exchange for an honest review of the book.
If you are looking for a girls, girl bookworm then Cassidy is it! She is stuck going to her high school reunion alone because her best friend is sick. Luckily it isn’t a disaster like she thought it would be. Upon reuniting with Janelle she also officially meets her high school crush Jameson.
From the start they have an instant love connection that Cassidy is hesitant to fully act on because of personal insecurities with her childhood, past relationships, and not wanting to be a romantic cliché like in the books that she reads. Jameson is set on changing that because if there’s anything in the world that he wants it’s Cassidy and he had no problem vocalizing it! 😮💨
Cassidy & Paloma had me jealous of Shaken Tropes and wishing that I had a book bar, or hangout spot like it in my town. A girl can dream! 🥰
This book has great mental health representation and reinforces that it is okay to not be okay, but also adds that going to therapy doesn’t have to be a bad thing.
Thank you Nicole Devonne for the opportunity to read Mixed Connections before it releases!
I had the pleasure of being an ARC reader for Mixed Connections, now available on KU and on Amazon.
It isn't always easy to find a contemporary romance that's isn't cloyingly sweet. Nicole Devonne has struck a beautiful balance between funny, sweet, and spicy.
We meet Cassidy, whose inner monologue sounds incredibly similar to my own. She's thick, she's confident, she's living happily but.... she's headed to her high school reunion. Yikes, right? While facing down a woman, I personally felt she should've mushed in the face, she's almost knocked over by a mystery man rushing past her. He catches her (gentlemanly) and carries on. The night continues, and because the universe is on her side, Cassidy is introduced to mystery man who is none other than her high school crush, Jameson. Jameson is all grown up and looking good enough to eat! Though he doesn't say so, Jameson had a crush on Cassidy all through high school. And adult Cassidy is blowing his mind!
It's such a delight getting to know these characters as well as the people who are close to them. Working their way to their happily ever after is never boring, and I loved cheering them through every step.

Cassidy Heart is living the dream of every bookish , cocktail sipping soul: co-owning a book-themed bar, charmingly named “Shaken Tropes,” with her best friend. Cassidy has come a very long way since losing her parents as a teenager, putting in years of work to build herself up again. Part of that journey means saying yes to more adventures including her ten-year high school reunion. Enter Mr. Jameson Bennette, a contractor who just so happens to be back in town to work on his next remodeling project, and, conveniently, to attend the same reunion. Cassidy and Jameson shared unspoken feelings back in high school but neither of them knew it at the time. So, when they quite literally collide😅 (iykyk), sparks fly. Jameson is witty, charming, and somehow even more handsome than Cassidy remembers. && he reads her book recs 🥹. Their chemistry is undeniable! My favorite part of this book is watching Cassidy’s journey from self-protection to self-love & the sisterhood🥰.
For my bookish friends who loves a heartfelt, sweet, and bookish romance, this one’s a perfect pick🫶🏾
I just cannot tell you how much I cannot stop thinking about this second chance romance debut! Cassidy and Jameson are fun, confident, sexy, and very much so swoon worthy. The pining between the two was a long time coming, being each other's secret crush in high school but once that reunion came Jameson was determined on not letting the chance go by again. We love a proactive man that knows what he wants! I loved their open and honest communications and their intentions were always clear. & babyyyyy the way that this man practically worships the ground that Cassidy walks on and their text conversations had me kicking my feet and giggling!! One of my favorite things while reading this were the details, Nicole has a way with painting a picture and bringing the ambience to your mind while reading. The side characters also brought some great moments, the friendship groups were filled with so much support, love, and fun boozy drinks!
I had the honor of sensitivity reading this, thank you so much to the author! This is my honest review!
I love a good plus size romance and this one did a good job of incorporating the main characters journey with her body into her love story. Which was good.
However the rest of the love story was not great.
They saw each other maybe five times in person before they were saying they think they love them. They had one date a few run ins and then all of a sudden they were head over heels. They didn’t really dig into each other and the only things you learned about the MMC didn’t come from him telling the FMC but it being given as background information.
Which brings me to the fact that he had no character arc. The whole focus of the growth aspect was on her side which is why I don’t think this needed to be dual pov.
What we did learn is that he is close with his best friend. I wish we got to see more of that relationship like we did see Cassidy’s friendships.
Overall I get that this a debut but it was hard to get through once I realized we weren’t going to get much development of the romance.
Living in a smaller town, Cassidy is dreading her upcoming high school reunion that her bestie cannot be at. However, after reconnecting with another great friend, she finds herself drawn to Jameson and hopes that he's feeling this connection like she is.
Oh. My. Sweet. Baby. Jesus. I ate Cassidy and Jameson UP!!! This was such a sweet romance book with the perfect level of open door spice to have me staying up way past my bedtime to see where we were going next. Add in Alma and her guidance and it was just *chefs kiss*.
The only thing I wish I could have had more from this book is Paloma and the tournament since a section focused on that dynamic. I am so hoping that the next book in the story is Paloma or Anders!
Highly recommend this book if you're looking for something spicy with missed connections and found family, BIPOC representation, and a plus sized leading lady loving herself!
I love going into a book blind because they allow for the most beautiful surprises, just like Cass and Jameson’s story. I fell in love with both character so easily and admired how sure they were of themselves!
Their story starts long ago with small glances and what ifs but it’s their class reunion that brings them together. Cass is a curvy, strong, and creative woman that I admire. She brings sass and love wherever she goes. Jameson is a tall, dark, and dedicated man that puts his heart into everything he does.
Not only do we get a strong romantic relationship, we are also given healthy female friendships and found family vibes. There is a lot of healing in this book from our FMCs past and it’s so heartwarming to witness.
Give this book a read if you like second-chance, dual POV, found family/girl gang, and swoon-worthy spice!!
This is a sweet romance, with cute nicknames, open door spice, and some swoony chemistry. Cassidy and Jameson meet at a reunion and sparks fly as they click instantly. Secretly they both had a crush on each during high school but never acted on it, but now at the reunion they both know what they want. I loved the dual POV, the accidental miscommunication, and the found family vibes. The reading cocktail bar is such an amazing idea and I need this IRL! They are such genuine and caring people, and I really enjoyed seeing their romance blossom.
💜"I'm a proud tease. I'd flirt with a biscuit if it would talk back"
💜"Hurry back. I'm sure your day is just as busy as mine and I want to hold you for as long as I can"
💜"You're the blueprint...always have been, always will be. Every curve. Every dip. Every smirk. You're it for me"
I'll start by saying that I absolutely loved the idea of a boozy library bar, with themed drinks based on tropes! That's probably one of the most creative careers I've seen for a character in a romance book! Also, I love that the FMC has a sisterhood that she can rely on, and I loved the bonds she had with them.
I liked Jameson & Cassidy. I liked their banter. Their chemistry was great and the spice was decent. I did think there was an overuse of "Babygirl" and it distracted me from the story at times. There were a couple of plot holes, and some repetitive descriptions/conversations, etc. The story was challenging to follow at times and it just felt a little choppy.
This was a decent debut novel for the author. For a quick and lighthearted read, it's not bad. It just missed the mark in a few areas for me, but I will absolutely check out more from her and wish her much success!
ARC READER (potential spoilers ahead) • • • • • • • • • • • • • This book took me a while to get through, which is abnormal for me. It was a cute book with a HEA, but there was a lot of repetition. The whole plot felt like it was around Cassidy being plus size and the trauma with her family, but whenever we find out the trauma, it was glazed over.
I felt like Cassidy and Jameson were a little too flat of characters. Maybe it’s partially the writing feeling a little too immature for me, but the whole plot was around Cassidy and Jameson struggling to be adults and have a conversation.
The first few chapters were exciting, and I was excited to see how their love story grew, but it seemed to just happen too quickly and the author had to find something to create a problem.

Why can’t every guy be like Jameson? 😍😍😍Such a sweet cinnamon roll who knows what he wants, and speaks it out! I love this cute rom-com story about high school classmates meeting back up at their reunion.
There wasn’t much not to love about this book. The “Shaken Trope” bar/bookstore, the sweetness of Jameson towards Cassidy, the friendship between Cassidy, Paloma, and Janelle.
If I had one thing that I didn’t love was the text messages. Now don’t get me wrong - I LOVE text message banter in books. BUT….some of these didn’t fit. Like they happened before or after the chapter and didn’t flow within the same time. But that was it. Otherwise, a quick, easy, fun read.
(Rating 3.5) This novel includes a DICKTIONARY 🌶️🥵 and a good playlist. And I know we all love a good playlist to listen to while reading.
What I liked: 💞 Black Man with LOCS representation 🥰 Book store with bar and each drink is named after a romance trope Friendship representation between the FMC and her friends. I love how time and obligations didn’t allow them to be distant. When they all 3 linked back up, they were able to pick up where they left off. Insta (Like) by the MMC MMC actually reading the FMC book recommendations 🥹
What I disliked: The C word used excessively throughout novel. A black man with LOCS does not have a C*ck! 🙂↔️
This book is a good read. I loved the Cassidy and Jameson pair, they are so cute and perfect together. Loved how she is a plus size FMC, this is not so often seen that I liked it. Especially Cassidy as to how strong and kind she is, and loves herself even if she struggled a bit.
I liked the cute flirtatious comments passed between them and how both never seem to be too busy to crack a joke all the time. The romance was quite sometime but the spice was way outer world. I loveedddd Cassidy and her friend's business.....what a dream come true...WOWWWW.
I just felt like more character development could have been done..to see their bond strengthen was more. Apart from that I loved it.
This debut is one for the books! Not only is the character art stunning (you should go see if you haven't) the premise of the book is lighthearted and something that book lovers will appreciate! The FMC is going back to her high school reunion where she sees her crush who also had a crush on her. Their reunion will bring a smile to your face. The man also is so so hot! She also uniquely owns a bookstore bar which serves up drinks based on tropes! If you like found family, curvy rep, steamy scenes, and banter you'll enjoy this one! Thanks for letting me ARC read this!!
This cute romance is like catching up with your bestie and your favorite bar. It was everything you could want in a feel good romance. It even has a “dicktionary” so y’all don’t have to bookmark all the spicy scenes, she’s got them saved for you already. Jameson and Cassidy have the best chemistry and I love how sweet he is with her. If you like a golden retriever boyfriend, this is the one for you! Thanks Nicole for writing this treasure and convincing me I need every room in my house a different shade of green.
Per me, I’m a side character slut and need immediate details on whatever Paloma/ Anderson have going on🫠
