Well this is the last book on the series... which I found it odd. Maybe they didn't want to write a 4 novel in the series but this could have gone a bit further.

This novel, doesn't focus as much on Flroin & Lorenzo but more on Katerina.
Well in this novel Katerina is happily married to Sergei but unfortunately her mother doesn't like that. They want her to married a noble so they can make more money and have more power.

So, someone, arrange for skaven to murder her husband. Katerina then married the noble and all hell breaks loose... This story is a revenge story of Katerina and a bit on the lore of Warhammer Fantasy Bretonnia which is something that I enjoy.

Talking about Bretonnia is something that I love Florin novels since they focus on other countries like Ogre Kingdoms, Lustria and now Bretonnia.

Should you read this novel? Yes if you read the previous 2. Is this a good entry? Absolutely not. These characters come from book 1 and mainly 2. If you don't know their backstory then it would be pointless reading this.

Robert Earl did a fantastic job with Katerina and Lorenzo funny humor and in my opinion he gain a star because he kill Tabby the sabertooth cat. Not that I think the cat was evil or should be killed but because the safe choice would be not killing... It seems most author don't like killing animals... people yes. Animals not. So kudos.

This is the second book to feature the feisty and brave Katerina and her Sabretusk cat "Tabby".

A good story, great twists and plenty of action and adventure. .

This book was, like the previous two, an absolute blast to read. Yes, it did shift the focus more onto Katerina and maybe a little more than it should have, but it still stayed true to the characters and added more insight into the lives of the city of Bordeleaux. This one also had a Pirates of the Caribbean feel to it which was not at all expected but very much enjoyed. The way Earl is able to make each book feel unique and continuously write in new characters who seem insignificant at first only to turn into key players later one with smart and addictive writing is truly a skill that any reader will love. Another factor I truly enjoyed was the way he was able to bring in the faith in the Lady into full view and affect. Once again adding to the immersion of the world with each of his novels. I also loved the cameo of Duke Alberic during the trial at the end, any time I see a legendary lord from total war show up in a book I’ll always go nuts, but even if it was small it’s just another little detail that shows Earl’s love of the setting which, I cant emphasize enough, is the reason as to why he is becoming my favorite Warhammer author. I’ll leave out some of the more shocking twist like deaths and the like but those will hit you just as hard as the action that takes place. Enjoy the ride as I’m sure you’ll like it as much as I did.

Phenomenal book. Can’t wait to read more by this author.

Just when I was starting to like this series I'm let down again. Sadly, I found Savage City to be the most contrived, directionless, and uninspired book in the series, more so than even the first book, The Burning Shore. The plot armor from the first book makes a return (two naked people caught by surprise without weapons can fight back two dozen assassins armed with throwing stars). Instead of visiting an exotic location like Lustria or the Ogre Kingdoms, most of the book takes place in boring old Bordeleaux. The story tends to meander with characters being often guided by no other motivation than "a gut feeling" or "destiny" (in other words, bad writing). Over and over again, when characters are in danger something random appears to conveniently save the day, whether it be the vision of a deity appearing to talk reason to somebody just as they're about to commit suicide or a saber-toothed cat suddenly showing up out of the blue because some sixth sense told it to (and even told it exactly where to go).

Most of the story isn't even about Florin and Lorenzo, it's mainly about Katarina, with Florin and Lorenzo acting as supporting characters. To that extent, it feels more like a spin-off than a main entry in the series, sort of like what the Ulrika books are for Gotrek & Felix.

In the end, the book was a massive disappointment for me. The charm and imagination of the previous title are gone and all we get instead is an asinine plot and one-dimensional characters. Bleh.

Florin and Lorenzo at it again. I love the characters, the out-of-favor noble and his rough-and-tumble buddy. A great villainous family to hate in Mordicio's kin, and Katerina as a strong female character who can succeed even in the society of the ogres, great fun.
