"Scaredy Kitty" is a quirky Halloween romance that follows Crimson, a witty, anxiety-ridden art student who hates haunted houses but loves Halloween. When her best friend drags her to a haunted mansion attraction, Crimson’s worst fears are realized—until she crosses paths with Rhett, a charming scare actor with a soft spot for her quirky charm. As Crimson faces her fears, sparks fly between the two, blending spooky thrills with sweet romance in a story about bravery, trust, and finding love in the most unexpected places.
Scaredy Kitty is the perfect Halloween romance. Twenty-year-old art major Crimson is battling an anxiety disorder and gets roped into going to a haunted mansion with her best friend. When they get separated, Crimson ends up on the floor, having a panic attack. I was hooked when a handsome, mysterious clown, a scare actor named Rhett, collects her off the floor and rescues her, removing her from the perceived danger. Outside, he comforts and distracts her until she recovers. Um, swoon!
I love how this book has mental health rep and as someone with anxiety, I found it extremely relatable! The spooky goth vibes and fun pop culture references will really get you into the spirit of Halloween. The witty banter kept me laughing and the romance had me giggling and blushing like crazy. Having read two of her books now (make sure you check out her fantasy, Firebrand), Gann really knows how to write an engaging romance! I highly recommend this book!
I DEVOURED this novella like a pan of pillsbury halloween sugar cookies! This was the cutest Halloween romance where I was immediately hooked and was able to care about the characters and understand their personalities and dynamics with each other without there being pages of backstory and descriptions. Brandi does a fantastic job of making her characters feel real and fleshed out. I was kicking my feet, giggling, and squealing, but also tearing up, almost crying, and holding my breath as the story unfolded. I seriously did not want to put this book down as I felt like i was watching a movie (which i think it should be turned into) and loved how there were elements of the story that deepened the narrative and showed how much mental health can affect you, past trauma’s can haunt you like a ghost and attempt to ruin when you finally do have something good. I appreciated when they noticed their faults and where they messed up, showing emotional maturity and then healthily communicating to work things out. such a great blend of swoonworthy romance mixed with the very real truth of mental illness struggles.
WHELP this was so sweet I think I have a cavity now 🥹
This was my first book by this author & I LOVED it.
Rhett is an ultimate book boyfriend, I adored his patience and kindness with crimson. He was always there to assure her and walk with her through her anxiety. Everyone deserves someone who loves them like that.
This is one of the first books I’ve read in a while that didn’t have “spice” and man it was refreshing I just enjoyed how freaking cute the story was.
Absolutely adorable!!! I loved this quick halloween romance. So much heart was packed in this story! Literally the perfect halloween romance! I've been dying (see what I did there) to find a romance that fits the halloween vibes. This was perfect. I highly HIGHLY recommend to anyone wanting to swoon and sigh while sipping their pumpkin spice latte. I'll reread this every spooky season!
As a person who loves Halloween, all things spooky and romance; this book kept me giggling and kicking my feet! I absolutely loved the characters and storyline! I hope to see more of Crimson and Rhett!! It was such a fun read! It was well written and detailed! I couldn’t put it down! 🥰
I enjoyed this Halloween themed YA/clean romance. Rhett is a sweetie and I love how Crimson grows and works through some tough issues. I like Brandi's writing style, lots of details that bring the story to life. And I love all the bits relating to art.
This book was so fun! I didn’t know I needed a Halloween rom-com in my life, but I definitely did. The FMC was super relatable, and I loved the side characters as much as I loved the main characters. If you’re looking for spooky vibes with a big heart, this is it!
i liked this book, i really liked rhett but i couldn’t really connect with crimson but that being said, it was very sweet story and touched on some important issues like abuse in relationships (not between the main characters, from the FMC past relationships), the trauma from it, anxiety, cheating and even a slight other woman drama.
i guess i didn’t rate it higher because i had trouble connecting with some characters and some parts of the book made me cringe. but remember this is my own opinions and own preferences. it definitely is perfect for getting into halloween season. 🎃
