Broken Wings is the second book in The a fast-paced, action-packed Christian suspense series. Fans of novels by Frank Peretti, like This Present Darkness, or fans of Terry Pratchett's and Neil Gaiman's Good Omens, will fall in love with Landon Walker. An on-the-edge-of-your-seat redemption story.
Landon Walker continues his battle to discover exactly who he is, along with Sarah, who he healed shortly after coming to in a field in Willowbrook, Kansas. The couple of visions he had then, showed him with a couple of priests who were performing an exorcism on him! The older of the two priests he never heard the name of, and he thought he had killed him when he threw him against a wall, and he heard the younger priest being called Father Sciplini. He knows somehow that the key to finding any priests who perform exorcisms, will be the Vatican City in Rome, so this is where Landon and Sarah have travelled to. He hoped to find the two priests, especially the one he feared he might have killed, and learn more about who he really is. He has total amnesia of his life before he woke up in a field in Kansas, only knowing his name as his wallet and drivers license were in his pocket. He learnt that a demon called Mephisto had possessed him in the past, but in Willowbrook he also found out an angel called Remiel was somehow within him. He spots a priest he recognises from a vision, coming out of their hotel and catch hold of another priest and ask if he knows of Father Sciplini. He knows Padre Farrari, who was in Landon’s vision, and manages to arrange a meeting with the priest in the Sistine Chapel. It should have been difficult to meet an unknown priest in such a place, but Padre Ferrari looks completely out of place. Both he and Landon have the experience of hearing voices in their heads, whilst in the chapel, speaking of the Sons of Light and the Sons of Darkness, from the War Scrolls. Something only a few other priests have heard and they presume it is angels talking about war, but it is demon voices as well, according to Landon.
Padre Ferrari says there is a small group of priests who have joined together to investigate what is happening, believing it to be an assault on the Church itself that is demonic in origin. Ancient prophecies predict that this is the last of seven battles between light and dark, which will decide the winner for all time. The priest leads them through the Vatican, until they reach a place Landon recognises, where Farrari pushes Landon through a door, pulling Sarah away and locking Landon in the room. Remiel comes to him and tells him there are indeed dark forces at work and they have to figure out who is on what side! Sarah has been kidnapped and Landon manages to get out himself and ends up being led to a group of priests who are part of the Order of St Expeditus, who are on the side of the Sons of Light, among them is Padre Morelli the older exorcist from his past. Landon wants their help to find Sarah, but they aren’t quite as quick to assist, as the location where she is held is being guarded by demons. Soon he will find himself torn, as two groups of priests end up in a battle against each other, each believing the other is possessed by devils and that they are the ones on the side of light! Landon isn’t sure what his feelings for Sarah really mean, as he continues to battle with who he is and against the demon still within him. He doesn’t know how to connect with the angel supposedly within him, Remiel, and it makes him doubt his faith. He has all this unexpected knowledge of the bible and even the War Scroll, but still no knowledge of his own past. He will get a few hints of who he used to be, but as Sarah told him, he can be whoever he wants to be in the future. Their main problem is that it is far easier for the demons to gain access to them, with just the slightest bit of doubt in their minds or actions against their faith, than for them to fully allow the word of God inside them. So many walk the walk and talk the talk, but don’t live it fully, just go through the motions. The battle coming is not one Landon wants, unable to trust any of the priests and the false signs being shown to him, will make this journey a difficult one and without Sarah by his side, nearly impossible. There is a reason why the demon leader wanted Sarah, as well as Landon being told he was the Chosen One. Still an ongoing battle for the side of the Sons of Light and a battle for his very own soul.
I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout, and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
Picking up fabulously after book 1, we follow Landon on the next phase of his journey to uncover, discover, who he is, what he is. All he possesses are a few half baked visions he's struggling to interpret. To decipher if they really happened, if they really portray the truth and his only ally is Sarah, who, for some reason, feels compelled to help him. Landon knows the weirdest things, random facts but no idea how. Now he's in Rome with Sarah for answers, in the very heart of the Vatican, with revelation after revelation pounding at him as his purpose becomes clearer. The raging battle within him is extremely realistic, WHO does one believe?. What is deceptive, what is truth? One truth is crystal clear, Sarah is in danger and Landon needs to get it together, quickly! My goodness, my heart pounded louder than stampeding bison!
What starts off as confusion and mayhem, brings Landon not the full truth, but the conviction of right, a spiritual rebounding. Those final moments when doubt flees and conviction prevails, is glorious in the true sense of the word. The magnificent depictions of all the characters shows the good, the bad and the very hairy. I loved Landon and Sarah from book 1 but boy are they even more expensive in this book, especially Landon, he's come a long way, learnt much about himself, with so much more to come. With Sarah by his side, he cannot veer far from the light. SHE is the epitome of good, SHE is the epitome of faithful, nothing can sway her steadfast faith, her goodness.
This author ratchets up the intrigue and the tension, twisting piece by piece in time with my thundering pulse. His expertise is the delivery, like a faucet that drips, so too does the author slowly drop the revelations, the steady "plonk" louder with each drop. What unravels is a time eternal struggle against good and evil. But when both the good and the evil are within you, THAT fight is an eternal struggle. This author, makes me think, this author has me aware of so much more than simply the story, which was and is, excellent.
Very much a Christian read with a strong message, church and man and faith, coalesce fabulously on a fictional stage. But it's not a CHRISTIAN Christian read, it's a story full of mystery, it's a story of discovery, it's a story of demons, inner as well as"real" demons, it's a story that's action packed in the most awesomely paced read. It's tense, it's thrilling, it's a read so richly crafted and tenderly handled, I lapped up every word! And this quote really resonates, "person" does not inherently imply humanity" If you enjoyed The Davinci Code, you'll definitely enjoy this series!
I love a thriller that blends supernatural warfare with deep, soul-searching questions, and Broken Wings delivers on both fronts. As the second book in The Unfallen series, it raises the stakes for Landon Walker, a man haunted by his past—both the pieces he remembers and the ones that refuse to surface. When he identifies the exorcist from his nightmares, he’s drawn to Rome, searching for the truth that could either save him… or damn him all over again.
What makes this book so gripping isn’t just the breakneck pacing or the looming war between angels and demons—it’s the battle within Landon himself. Can someone with such a dark past truly find redemption? Or do some memories hold the power to drag you back into the abyss? The psychological depth here reminded me of This Present Darkness, but with an edge that feels raw and urgent, like a race against time and fate itself.
Judah Lamb’s writing balances fast-paced action with introspective moments that hit hard. One moment, I was breathless from a fight scene; the next, I was caught in Landon’s turmoil, questioning alongside him whether salvation is even possible for someone like him. It’s that tension—the clash between light and dark, past and future—that kept me turning the pages late into the night.
If you love supernatural thrillers that challenge the idea of destiny and redemption, Broken Wings is a must-read. But be prepared—Landon’s journey is as harrowing as it is exhilarating, and some battles leave scars that never fade.
I must admit, I am flabbergasted. Once again, Judah Lamb drags us—willing or not—into the eye of Landon Walker’s storm, and this time, we’re flying straight into the heart of Catholicism. No seatbelts, no safety instructions, just pure, unfiltered theological thriller.
We begin with Landon and Sarah touching down in Rome, chasing answers with the kind of reckless determination that makes you wonder if they’ve ever heard of Google. And we end? Well, we think they’re on a flight back to the U.S.—but with Lamb, who can say? In between, prepare for a whirlwind of suspense so steeped in doctrine that I found myself pausing more than once, not to catch my breath, but to recalibrate my brain.
Now, confession time (how fitting): While I adore Lamb’s gripping prose and his unwavering belief that good will triumph—no matter how apocalyptic the setting—I sometimes find myself nostalgic for the cheekier, more mischievous flair he wields under other pen names. (A proud Team Mercy girl right here!) That said, the common thread in all his work remains unbroken: faith, conviction, and an unshakable sense of justice, even in the face of the most epic showdowns.
Lamb’s prose? As impeccable as ever. His storytelling? Absolutely magnetic. Whether you’re here for the theological discourse or simply in it for the supernatural rollercoaster, Broken Wings will keep you hooked. Now, the real question is: when do we find out what happens on that flight home? Because I, for one, refuse to deplane just yet.
Broken Wings picks up where The Unfallen left off, diving even deeper into Landon’s struggle between darkness and redemption. Haunted by memories and visions he can’t quite piece together, Landon’s journey to uncover the truth, and possibly save countless lives, makes for an intense, emotional ride.
I really enjoyed this book, though I’ll admit I didn’t love it quite as much as the first one. The story leans heavier on theological discussions this time around, which were interesting and thought-provoking, but I found myself wishing for a bit more action and plot development to balance it out. Still, the depth of the spiritual themes and the questions it raises about forgiveness, redemption, and inner demons kept me listening.
I listened to the audiobook, and Judah Lamb’s narration was fantastic, he really brought Landon’s turmoil and determination to life. The female narrator was just as impressive, adding heart and emotion to every scene.
Overall, Broken Wings is a compelling continuation of Landon’s story, a thoughtful mix of faith, suspense, and supernatural tension. Even though it slowed down a bit in places, the message and narration made it well worth the listen.
This book brought to mind the book by Dan Brown called Angels and Demons, maybe because this time around Landon is facing the war between the dark and the light, between angels and demons in the vatican city itself where he and Sarah go to seek out an exorcist. Landon had lost all his memories, his past had been wiped out, so he goes in search of answers, looking for a priest he once knew. Some memories or flashes of his past are resurfacing and he remembers a particular priest, but dreads what he may find out. Once in Rome all hell is let loose literally, he and Sarah face great dangers and Landon does not know who he is sharing his body with, or who of the two factions of priests he can trust if either! His main preoccupation is keeping Sarah safe, but she is adamant to do what is right and save the rest of the world from the evil endangering everyone. Sarah believes they were sent there for a purpose and she wants to see their mission through! Faith is all they have, and it is what gives them strength to face the evil being unleashed. This is the 2nd book in the christian supernatural thriller which kept me turning the pages as the excitement levels and suspense really revved up and now with such a cliffhanger ending I cannot wait to read book 3!
"Broken Wings" is another compelling installment in The Unfallen Series. The story begins with a plane landing in Rome and progresses with this change of location from the United States to Europe. This brings the battle into clearer focus. An already gripping narrative becomes even more intense. The war between good and evil heats up more than ever. Captivating, original, and enlightening, Author Judah Lamb brings biblical texts to life in a modern context. The battle seems close to ending but there is more to come. On to the next chapter in this dripping saga!.

Received as an ARC, I am leaving my honest review. Very intriguing and suspenseful. The author really makes good points on how evil can creep into anyone who lets their guard down, not standing on the rock of faith. Desperately trying to find the truth puts Landon and Sarah in danger as he tries to find out his past. Traveling to Rome May have answers, but what he finds is beyond anything he has experienced. The fight between goodness and evil entities goes deeper than he imagined as he fights to stop the devil from finishing its plan. The ending has quite the cliffhanger and I can’t wait for the next book!
Audiobook: I was as entertained by book two as I was by the first book in the series. My attention was captivated as Landon and Sarah traveled to Rome looking for answers regarding Landon's lost memories. I was surprised by what they encountered in Rome. I waited with bated breath as they worked to resolve the obstacles they faced. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. I thought Judah Lamb's narration was enjoyable as his performance kept my attention. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.
Broken Wings: A Christian Supernatural Thriller and Suspense Novel (The Unfallen Series (Landon Walker Thrillers) Book 2), my seventy-third read from author Theophilus Monroe, the second under his nom-de-plume Judah Lamb. Another well written & enjoyable read, the second in his new Landon Walker Thriller series. I was given a Kindle & a Spotify copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. I look forward to reading the next book in the series, Mortal Coil: A Christian Supernatural Thriller and Suspense Novel (The Unfallen Series (Landon Walker Thrillers) Book 3), when it's released next month, it's already on my TBR list. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
Audiobook review: I enjoyed the narration. The narrator uses different voices for the characters and lots of voice inflection keeping the listener engaged throughout the book.
The story, a Christian suspense redemption, is very intense. It's the 2nd book in the series and I suggest you read the 1st one to understand why Sarah and Landon are in Rome. I love the author's message about redemption. Warning, this book does end in a cliffhanger. I did find the book entertaining.

Landon Walker is such an interesting character. As he and Sarah travel to Rome seeking answers the mystery and danger increase. While some questions are answered, others appear. One thing I like in this series aside from the mystery and action, is the philosophical and spiritual discussions. I frequently read a passage several times and ponder on the meaning and application in today's world. I also liked the author note at the end of the book. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

Landon and Sarah go to Rome, to Vatican City, to see if he can learn something about himself. He hopes meeting one of the priests he has seen in visions will lead to a discussion of his past to unlock his memories.
He does learn more about himself, but it is not what he expected. The streets he wanders are as convoluted as his path to knowledge and to faith in God.
Will he be strong enough to survive his latest tests, or will they be his last tests?
Excellent story. Landon goes to Rome with Sarah to learn more about the little bit of broken memory he has. What he fiinds out has him very shaken. Sarah's faith helps him through this trial. This also helps you the reader see that all of us face great trials in our lives and with faith in the Lord can overcome the insidious temptations in everyday life. I received this as an ARC for review and am very glad to have had the chance to read it.
Landon and Sarah are headed to Italy to see what they can learn about his past. He has snippets of memories that bring him to the Vatican, but no idea how complex his own history is, as well as the battles raging between angels and demons for mankind. And so much of this revolves around him. Very heavy on biblical and other historical text (sometimes it feels a bit like a theology lecture) but the themes and lessons are powerful for all of us stuck between our angels and demons.
Thrilled and horrified are words which barely scratch the surface of how I feel about this novel. The idea that demons can be this subtle hits home and gives me much to furiously think about. This fits very much with Declan Finn's "Principle Necromancy" and "Crossover" books. Again, I recommend this book to Declan Finn fans.

Very good book. Showed divisions in the church and how Satan uses that to pull our focus off christ off his word. Also shows a bit on the spiritual battle we all face. Christians are not perfect and even having a relationship with God we struggle but God is there with us. We need to keep our focus on him. Both mind body and soul.
Story pulls you good plot and well written.

Wow. Talk about intense! Landon and Sarah go to Rome to learn more about Landon’s past. I don’t think they were ready for all that happened. This is an interesting view of being focused on the wrong things in life…things that give a false sense of righteousness. I enjoyed this book, and I am enjoying the quest that Landon and Sarah are on. It is extremely well written!
Landon believes that Father Sciplini has the answers he needs so a trip to Rome is required. Sarah also goes to Rome where they are both caught up in Belial's design for the Priests of the Vatican. This story contains plenty of drama a bit of action, ending with a cliffhanger.

Excellent plot and premise but the audiobook was terrible and very distracting to listen to. All the characters seemed to be AI voices which meant constantly changing voice pitches and incorrect emotive expression the entire time. Also, every name was pronounced in 50 different ways throughout the book (because AI), which severely reduced the impact of what could’ve been a very impactful story.
This book had me hooked from the opening pages, I couldn't put it down. The story moves at a good pace and the characters are well developed. Definitely recommended!.

This is a great second book of the series that combines Christianity, and the supernatural so seamlessly. The characters are dynamic and the plot is terrific. This was really a refreshing genre and an intense book to read. I highly recommend it.
Landon and Sarah are fighting in a bitter war between evil and good. Both sides believe that they are on the right side of God. Many are deceived and their eyes need to be opened to the truth. A great read with wonderful characters and well written vivid world description.
Once again he brings you into a world of the supernatural and shows the battle between good and evil and lets you see that it is not about 1 battle but about the war!.

This was amazing! My attitudes are being tested. There are many books I read that I don’t highlight. I just read them as a romp. Not these. This one really made me look at myself. I think that is a mark of a truly great book.
This is book 2 of the Unfallen Series by Judas Lamb. I enjoyed reading this book and definitely recommend and I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. Great job
