Can her sixth sense for romantic attraction finally help her find the love she longs for, or will it only end in heartbreak?
Skilled violinist and castor, Reenalyn of Wrynford, has it all—a nice job at an instrument repair shop, a winning animal familiar, and close, supportive friends. But she’s also got a headache from all the love in the air.
Everyone’s always falling in love. But never with her.
When a friend’s animal familiar goes missing and she and the others travel to a neighboring kingdom to rescue them, Reenalyn stumbles into the love-at-first sight she’s always longed for—dreamy, dashing, and even taller than her.
But Morrenfayre has more to hide than a missing animal. As they uncover details of a queen’s plot decades in the making, more questions than answers come to light, challenging everything they know about their familiars and everything Reenalyn knows about love.
One mistake, and Reenalyn could lose her own familiar and her heart forever.
If you like fierce female friendships, mistaken identity with a magic twist, and the ending of Tall Girl, you’ll love House of Hybrids, the second book in the Castors of Wrynford Saga!
Entrepreneurial speaker and fantasy novelist Savannah J. Goins teaches creatives how to value failure, enjoy the journey, and know when they've arrived. She uses her background in dragon wrangling as an exotic animal veterinary technician to encourage and inspire audiences with entertaining stories and unforgettable lessons.
House of Hybrids is a stunning continuation in the Castors of Wrynford series. This masterful sequel features relatable and likeable POV characters that tug at your heartstrings and villains you'll love to hate. With plenty of mystery and no-spice romance, readers won't want to miss all of the feels!
Savannah gives us a wonderful next installment in the Castor of Wrynford series. Her amazing ability to write in multiple POVs but keep each character’s voice distinct, is still strong. A new threat looms for our beloved ban of characters. As they work together, they also fight their own inner battles. Each chapter is filled with emotion that takes your heart for a ride.
Our POVs focus on Mella, Reenalyn, Selverine, and Acres. Like stated earlier, they are working together to stop the new threat that looms, but each is also fighting their own battle. Mella is convinced some of her friends have been kidnapped and sacrifices the Casting to find them. Reenalyn is hoping to find love and acceptance, but whose? Is it really a love and acceptance from others she needs or from herself? Selverine is on her own journey to find out about her family. Acres, needing a cure for himself, keeps putting his friends needs above his own.
In all honestly, individually our beloved characters are messy and falling apart. Together, they lift each other and support each other like found family should. While they each fight their own battles, they continue to show up for each other and fight together. Savannah again, masterfully, is able to entwine these four character’s stories into one beautiful story.
Themes of self-acceptance and fierce friendship are easy to see throughout this book, but create a beautiful story. I can’t wait for book 3 and watch these beloved characters continue their journey both together and as individuals.
As always, review any author notes before reading.
Tropes: 💜Clean Romance 💜Fierce Female Friendships 💜Adorkable Slow Burn 💜Witty Banter 💜Confessions of Love
Another fun and more-ish read from Savannah J Goins! We continue following Mella, Selverine, Acres and the rest of the Wrynford cohort as they venture from familiar surrounds into new territory where the line between allies and enemies is blurrier than ever. This time our focus character is Reenalyn, who is looking for love but maybe losing sight of some other priorities in the process. I found I wasn't as invested in this love story as I was in Mella and Dane in book 1, but I liked the expanding story lore, and kept reaching for this book whenever I had a spare moment. As usual, the animal castling characters are standouts; I loved this book best whenever Starstinger or Cupid were on the page, bossing their castors for their own good. The political angle and relationships focus of this book meant they couldn't feature as much as in the first, but I'm looking forward to book 3 and seeing what happens next! Thanks to the author for an advance copy of the book ❤️
The Wrynfordians are back in action after only months of peace in second installment of The Castors of Wrynford series. The story continues to follow the crew in multiple POV centering on Mella, Reenalyn, Selverine, and Acres as they struggle with their own personal battles while working together on one bigger common goal. Find Bennet and Whisper.
Mella
Mella is all set to try her luck again at casting her very own castling at this year’s ceremony, but she’s pulled in a different direction when Bennet and Whisper go missing. She’s certain they were kidnapped and taken to Morrenfayre, so she rallies the cohort to travel with her to find them.
Reenalyn
Reenalyn is looking for love and acceptance. Her main goal is to find her happiness. Will she find that in Morrenfayre? Her personal quest causes her a lot of distress throughout the book. I felt sad for her, and at times annoyed with her. She puts so much focus on what other people think about her and her looks, but Dane gives her some sweet advice that changes her perspective a little bit.
Selverine
Selverine is on her own mission to find out about her family in Morrenfayre and save Willova from Drazdan’s wrath. They bump into the Wrynford cohort in the way and tag along with them.
Acres
Acres is on a mission to find all the fossils he can, and possibly a cure for himself, but seems to always find himself putting his friends needs ahead of his own. Acres is one of my favorite characters, probably because I too am awkward and antisocial and would rather just read in peace.
Savannah J Goins puts so much emotion in each chapter. There’s so much going on from each perspective, but it flows together so seamlessly that it works perfectly. She also has great messages all throughout the book about love and acceptance, friendship, and being yourself. Thank you Savannah for another amazing read!
House of Hybrids is the second installment in Savannah J. Goins Castors of Wrynford series. If you've read the 1st book you will not be disappointed with this one! Following the events of book one the group of friends face a new threat and journey to a new land to find answers. While House of Hybrids focuses on Reenalyn's journey we still see all the other characters we loved from book 1 and some new faces as well. Packed full with fierce friendship, adventure, animal familiars and a journey to find love and acceptance reader's will love this book for all it brings to the table. The multiple POV's are still present and add a certain depth to the story as we watch each character go through their journey. I can not wait to continue this series and am patiently waiting for what Savannah has in story next for our group of friends!
This is the second part of the Castor of Wrynfold series. Review of the first book “Whisper of Weapons” is in my feed, if you want you can check it out. The story continues where the first book ends. I felt both the books were a little slow paced. But after a few chapters, it got better. I loved the mystery, thrill and suspense of this story. It's a story of betrayal and a lot of secrets. One of the characters, Reenelyn has a super power which is to feel other people's romantic feelings but she has no one who feels something for her. When she finally got a person, that person turned out to be the vicious one. Her heart broke into pieces, she felt betrayed. They never knew they were gonna step into that danger foolishly, but when everything goes too smooth to be true, there's always a trap.
We're back, baby and with a twist. Reenalyn takes the wheel this book.
House of Hybrids is an absolute gem that weaves together romance, adventure, and magic in a captivating way. From the very first page, Reenalyn, a skilled violinist draws you into her world where magical familiars roam and love seems to bloom for everyone but her. The book’s ability to blend a relatable emotional journey with rich fantasy elements makes it truly stand out.
Reenalyn’s sixth sense for romantic attraction adds a fresh twist to the familiar trope of unrequited love. Her yearning for romance is palpable, and her quest to find love, while rescuing a friend’s missing familiar, adds layers of complexity to her character. Reenalyn’s chemistry with the tall, dashing love interest is swoon-worthy, and the gradual unraveling of secrets keeps the reader hooked until the very last page.
Fun fact : I live for Selverine and Acres, they're the pair i didn't knew i needed.
Book 2 jumps right into the plot with Mella and the gang on a new adventure. We get to see more from the other characters from book 1 on their new journey. I don’t want to spoil it but this young adult fantasy is full of mystery, adventure, romance and found family. I loved watching the different friendships grow even stronger, and watching some of the characters find their self worth and overcome personal struggles. Overall this is a really quick, easy, and enjoyable read that will captivate you from the very beginning!
If you haven’t read the first book yet you definitely need to because this series just keeps getting better! I’m so excited to see what happens in the next book.
An amazing follow-up to the first book! I love this series 🖤
The different POVs are handled for perfectly, and I LOVE a good no spice romance. This world is so immersive and beautiful, and it was fun to jump back into it. The magic system is unique, and the animal familiars are such a cool part of it.
Also, strong female friendships always speak to me 🥹 I grew up with 3 sisters, and it was so impactful for me. Female bonds and support are so important, and I love seeing that in books!!
This was the perfect continuation of the story! These books have been some of my top reads this year 🥰
Excellent sequel to House of Whispers! I DEVOURED this book in less than a day and am feral for it.
House of Hybrids has a new lead as it follows Reenalyn, but you still get the amazing cast from book 1 as you get some answers to questions raised toward the end of the book. However between mysteries to solve, budding romances, and strengthening friendships come more questions that have kept me on the edge of my seat the entire book. I cannot wait for the next book.
Another great book and sequel to House of Whispers. It had me hooked from the start and ready for the next book. I love how the books are written in multiple points of views. If you’re looking for adventures, friendly banter and the search for love, friendships and family this is the book/book series for you.
Absolutely incredible sequel!!!!! So many elements I've never read before. Super unique read! I really hope book 3 comes out soon!! 🤩 I can't reveal my fave parts because they are ALL spoilers!!!! I love a multiple pov book and being able to hear from Mella, Dane, Acres, Selverine and all the crew again was a treat!! The many twists and turns was like a good kind of whiplash. A few jaw dropping moments too!
House of Hybrids was a fun sequel to Whisper of Weapons where we follow the same cohort and their quest to find their missing friends and unravel the mysteries surrounding their too-willing-to-help host. This story answers questions from the last book while adding more, making me excited about book 3! This story follows Reenalyn as the main POV as she searches for love and struggles with friendship. I wasn’t as drawn into Reenalyn’s POV and romance as much as the others from this book and the last, but it still kept my attention and interest! Again Acres was my favorite, and seeing his interactions with certain characters was one of my favorite aspects. This story kept me entertained and needing to know what happened next. This was another fun relaxing read and I’m excited to see where the story goes in the next books.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
