***Pucks and Promises is a heartwarming hockey romance series brimming with swoon-worthy kisses, emotional highs, and delightful laughs. In ‘Ice, Ice… Maybe?’, a whirlwind of instalove unfolds as a famous hockey star falls for a shy wallflower, who is wondering if this fairytale romance is too good to be true.

*deep sigh* I'm grateful this was under 200 pages. So this was supposed to be a fast paced insta-love? Okay I'll take that but still it could have been better than this😭. Fast paced? more like a Japanese bullet train. I mean who decides to marry someone when you've not even known them for ten days. Like seriously? That doesn't even happen in arranged marriages. And the chemistry? They gave nothing. Nope, none, naaahh, nothing!
The biggest problem was that I was so confused while reading this, that it even made me doubt my English skills. I have a feeling that the author herself forgot what she was writing at times. ↝Eg 1: In the starting of the epilogue she referred to him as her husband and just a few paras later they were planning their wedding venue. You call someone your spouse when you're married to them right. righttt?? ↝Eg 2: This had some illustrations/images here and there and the MMC clearly had a beard in them and then he says he cannot possibly grow a beard. ↝Eg 3: Now this one might not even be true idk... but I felt that this was jumping in between 3rd person and 1st person povs.

↝Pre-read°。.゚.。♡ In the mood for a quick, cute romance. No idea about this. Hoping for it to be good🤞🏼
Forget Travis and Becca; Matthew was hands down my favorite character(ᵖˡᶻ ˡᵉᵗ ʰⁱᵐ ᵍᵉᵗ ʰⁱˢ ᵒʷⁿ ᵇᵒᵒᵏ)🤣 This book was an adorable and quick read, and I absolutely loved the little illustrations sprinkled throughout.
Guuuuuyyssss this book was so bad 😂 it MIGHT have been okay if they were high school/ early college age but they were 26 and 32? SO unrealistic. I should’ve been tipped off by the description “instalove fairytale”. Their relationship was just at hyper speed. Engaged in 3 weeks maximum? Married and pregnant “a few months later”???? Absolutely not. Also…… I’m quite certain some of the French used was grammatically incorrect. The only thing going for it is that it was A QUICK READ.
Are you in your hockey era? Hahaha! I think I am because I am finding that I'm reading a lot of them lately. Not necessarily on purpose but just favorite authors are all writing them. And they're nailing them! This is Ginny Sterling's first hockey book and it's not going to be her last! Woot Woot!!! This is a new series she's just dropped and I am here for it!
Travis is a cinnamon roll character and had all the females in the books swooning, especially Becca! They are seriously the sweetest and cutest couple! They have an insta-love relationship. Their initial meeting was adorable. She doesn't know anything about hockey but going to her first game, she and Travis meet. Her Transformer t-shirt catches his eye so he takes a chance on saying hi to her and the rest is history. Best decision of his life!!!
I loved watching their friendship develop and grow into more than just friends. Seriously, Ginny Sterling can write characters!!! I loved how these two talk openly and from that openness, their relationship is real and genuine. No lies, no hiding their thoughts and feelings and fears and concerns. Especially with their pasts and struggles. And when some of those struggles pop up, I loved the support and help they were for each other. And their chemistry and love story is adorable! Lots of swoony moments. Here's me, waiting patiently for the next book!
Content: This is a closed door romance. There is nothing more than kisses. There are some mild innuendos.
I received a copy from the author via BookSirens. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.
Did I read this in a day? Yes...yes, I did! It was that good. I simply didn't want to put it down and the story just flowed so nicely.
This book and these characters made me happy. From their sweet meet cute, when Travis saw Becca in the stands and skated over to meet her, to deeper moments when they connected through shared interests and difficult or painful situations, I appreciated their openness and honesty with each other.
This story was such a joy to read and I love that it is the first in the series and that we can look forward to reading not only stories for some of the other teammates, but also other connected stories to come. This is a definite favorite of mine now!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
DNF 50%. i didnt like this book at all the characters where just kind of boring and the blurb makes it sound like there in collage but there not and it just feels really slow. some said in there review that the H is a virgin but im pretty sure he used to be a manwhore he says that back when he was 22 he 'didnt ask for names, or numbers and didnt even care what those faceless women looked like' he also dated someone for a year. this book was just nothing like i thought it would be and i wasn't liking it so i stoped reading. spoiler, saftey. :(
Becca went to see a hockey game not her favorite thing but she had great seats. She didn’t think love at first sight with Travis the hockey player would happen. This is a sweet loving story that you won’t want to put down. The authors first hockey romance story and bravo it was awesome. Can’t wait for the next. Highly recommended
*sigh* I know it's fiction but this was too much for me.
Does it make sense saying this was slow and fast paced at the same time? The book is really short but everything happens so fast and so slow that it feel longer, fast because their relationship began in less than a week of knowing eachother and slow because many things happen at the same time. The way they act made them feel like they were in highschool and 32 and 26.
I almost dnf at the first page because I felt she was a judgemental brat but I chose to give it a try but sorry, I couldn't deal with this one. Hockey warm ups last 3 min? Is not hard to find out on Google this little piece of information. His injury description confused me so much and it seemed like he got hit by 80 pucks at the same time.
I DNF at 68% I couldn't get over the fact that it kept going back in 1st and second person. It would be FMC chapter but it felt like someone self was telling her part. Plus the build it is so slow. Definitely he falls first slow burn low spice.

Becca is completely out of her element at a hockey game. Her friend convinced her to go with her. She knows nothing about the rules of hockey. If you ask her about it, she would tell you that the only thing she knows about hockey is that grown men throw punches and skate around with sticks. She also called the Zamboni the macaroni. Love it. She is not even dressed appropriately for the game with her short sleeve shirt with Transformers on it.
Travis is a hockey player and a closet nerd. He loves all things sci fi and super heroes are his jam, which is why he is drawn to the pretty lady sitting on the first row freezing in her Transformers t-shirt. He comes over and gives her a jersey. Every woman in the arena is swooning and are green-eyed with jealousy.
This closed door, insta love romantic comedy was everything that it should be. All of the characters were so much fun to get to know as this is building toward a series starring these characters. Becca's meddling family was at the top of the list. Their meddling came from a place of love, but it was still a sore spot for Becca. Even though the romance was quick, it still felt genuine because Becca and Travis were so much alike in their love of all things nerdy. They just meshed well together. This definitely falls under the category of fairytale romance, but sometimes there is nothing better than living vicariously through characters in a sweet story. I am looking forward to more stories in this series.
Thank you to the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This story was the author's first hockey romance & she nailed it! I had the most fun with this one not wanting to put it down & loved every minute of it! So thankful that this wasn't a stand-alone book & excited to see that there will be more books in this series in the future as well as what looks like some spin-offs following some of the side characters.
There was no shortage of fabulous characters throughout & so many layers to this one making it completely engaging & thoroughly entertaining. I laughed, I swooned, I teared up several times & personally related to several of the characters which helped to become a totally immersive experience for me. Being set near my hometown was a really fun added bonus.
Becca Baird was not a hockey fan until her best friend drug her to a game & the local hockey player spied her from across the rink. Seeing that she was cold & proving that chivalry isn't dead, he makes his way over to her in the middle of practice & gives her a jersey to put on, with his number on it of course, to wear during the game & that's all it took. Instalove for the win!
The sweetness of their love story balanced out well with the rough & rowdy hockey teammates. Plus, throw in some wisecracking siblings from Becca's feisty family, & a hilarious best friend with no filter (who needs her own story by the way 😉) for an all around exciting read! I highly recommend this one & can't wait to continue on with this series.
What a sweet start to a new hockey romance series by Ginny Sterling!
I love that this is labeled as a "fairytale instalove story" because that is the exact vibe the story gives off. It's saccharinly sweet with a pretty straightforward path to HEA. The biggest obstacle is whether Becca will not give Travis a chance after he has an unexpected accident on the ice that has the potential to alter his appearance or end his time as a hockey player. Their immediate loyalty is really special, especially in the hospital, which are my favorite scenes in the story.
I also love their nerdy meet cute. My hubby and I had something of the same, so it felt a little extra nostalgic on my end. 🥰
Becca's family is introduced throughout the tale and provides what is probably the most tension in the story. Travis is patient and accepting while standing up for Becca so that he can help her dreams move forward (but only if they include him!). We find out that there will be a spin-off series with the Baird family Becca's crew) next year! Hopefully, this means we get to see more of Travis and Becca in both series!
If you are looking for a cute story without the tension or bumps on the path to HEA, then this sweet hockey romcom is for you!
You don't have to twist my arm to read hockey romance so when I saw the news that Ginny Sterling was going to be dropping a NEW HOCKEY SERIES (Pucks & Promises) I came running!!
Ice, Ice... Maybe? by Ginny Sterling releases TODAY and is an ABSOLUTE DELIGHT!! If you think the cover is cute just wait until you see the little character art INSIDE the book!!
Becca (FMC) and Travis (MMC) have the CUTEST instalove story - which honestly is the heart warming read I needed! I may have been binging a little too many enemies-to-lovers lately so this sweet fall into love from the get go just made my day!
I enjoy this kisses-only book that still packs a couple of innuendos (I mean who hasn't seen the viral video of hockey players warming on the ice?! It totally looks sensual!) and layered with fun humor throughout.
If you are needing a light hearted, INSTALOVE story in your life, look no further!! Ice, Ice... Maybe? should definitely be your next read.

This book is part of the Pucks and Promises series. Pucks and Promises is a hockey romance series with heartwarming, swoon worthy kisses, and laughs. Each story features a different couple and their happy ever after. This story is an instalove love fairy tale hockey romance between Becca and Travis. Well-developed characters that you will fall in love with and root for their happy ending. The emotions in this book will pull at your heart strings. Will they find the happily ever after that we all want for them? The author does a great job developing her characters. This story is well written and will draw you into the characters emotions. You feel all their angst and love. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Fun beginning of a new series, Pucks and Promises, but Ginny Sterling. Becca is a girl who know nothing about hockey but wins two front row tickets to the game. She’s wearing a cartoon t-shirt but catches the eye of on of the players. Travis is the player who sees Becca and throws her one of his jerseys, then gives her his number after the game. When Travis was younger, he was pretty wild and didn’t respect the women he was attracted to. After the accident that almost killed him, he straightened out his life and now shares a home with his uncle. Becca isn’t sure she can trust her whole heart to him, but thinks she wants to try to trust him. *I received this as an ARC reader and am leaving my unbiased review.
I’m so excited to see where this new series takes us! I love every book by Ginny that I read but it is fun to see her move into hockey romance. I loved this story and the brotherly love between Travis and his teammates. I’m excited to follow the team along as the series progresses. Becca is such an independent, nerdy girl and I absolutely can’t get enough. She is so accepting of everything thrown at her and takes each moment in stride. I loved her connection to Yonder and I felt like we got a hint of a future story with her sister (so be on the look out). This is the beginning of a new series by Ginny Sterling. It is a dual pov, closed door romance.
I’m in my hockey romance era, so of course I couldn’t wait to read this one! Travis and Becca are absolutely adorable together, I love that they are both total sci fi nerds, especially the Star Wars references. They’re meet cute was so fun, and you get so many glimpses of what life is like for famous hockey players and their families. There are mentions of some of Ginny’s other series books, but if you haven’t read them, don’t stress. I mean, go back and read them later, but you don’t need to read them first. The characters are really well done, there’s just enough drama, there’s no 2nd period breakup, just lots of super sweet moments and some family drama to make it interesting! 🏒🏒🏒🏒🏒
Romance, sweet, contemporary, sports, hockey; series but stand alone read, mild innuendo Travis and Becca’s story was a chance meeting and instant attraction. Becca, different because she isn’t a puck-bunny, just there to enjoy a game, meets Travis at a game that she wins some great tickets for. Unequipped for the cold of the rink, Travis skates over and gets hers jersey. Lots of small moments, conversations, and Becca’s sweet, honest, sincere heart made for an easy fall for Travis. He wins over Becca with his sense of humor, attentiveness and yes he is the one! Sweet, lovely moments, sincere hearts, made for a lovely romantic fall.
A sweet Cinderella story that starts with love at first sight and ends with a missing shoe.... Travis and Becca's love was a whirlwind, with twists and turns that had them continuously turning back toward each other. It was fun to see instalove happen in the first chapter, and then watch the couple recommit to each other through injuries (this is hockey, after all), overprotective family members, and other bumps in the road.
As a bonus, Ginny Sterling has already announced the next two books in this series - AND a chance to see more of Becca's family in 2025. I'll be following this series to see what happens next!
I really enjoyed reading Ice, Ice ...Maybe? Ginny Sterling did write a story that tugged at my heartstrings. Although, I am usually a fiction suspense reader, this was a sweet love story and the characters were absolutely amazing. I loved how just everything tied together and pulled me in. I especially adored how love and faith in God plugged the holes in each of the main characters lives. This all encompassing trust tied them together by a shared faith in God above. I give this story a 4 out of 5 stars. I love how this author shared her faith in our unseen Savior throughout the written word of this genuine love story!!
This was my first Hockey romance read. ☺️ And I loved it! It was fun and entertaining. It had me feeling giddy, laughing, swooning, giggling, and smiling from ear to ear! This story was fluffy, adorable, and packed with lots of sweet moments. 🥰😍 Very cutesy, Very wholesome, and NO SMUT at all. 😅😂 I enjoyed it though. 😉
💞 Tropes 💞 🏒 Hockey / Sports Romance 🏒 Contemporary Romance 🏒 Good girl x Athlete - Secret Nerd 🤓 🏒 Insta Love 🏒 Fade-to-black / closed-door-romance 🏒 HEA
🎭 Fave Character/s: Matthew (Becca's brother) he is hilarious! 😂 🗣️ POV: Dual ✨ Cover: 💗💗💗💗💗 🤔 Recommend: Yes 📝 Book Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ -
Ginny is a pro at the instalove trope, and this book is no exception. Travis, a hockey player for the North Texas Coyotes, spots Becca in the crowd and throws her a jersey. It was love at first sight for him, and his pursuit of her is so sweet!
You'll all find some Easter eggs hidden along the way and a preview of some of the fun projects Ginny has up her sleeve. This is her first hockey romance, and she absolutely nailed it. I cannot wait for more!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Every once in a while you start a new series that you want more of while you are reading - this is that series! From the very beginning this story about Becca and Travis was so inviting. They both have a past and a secret or two, but their connection was real. They teased each other and were there for each other in very difficult times. I laughed, cried, and screamed as I read this story and I would do it all again to be a part of them. Excellent start to a new series and an upcoming spin off for the Baird brothers.
First book in a new series, yet interconnected with some of the other series by Ginny. Can be a standalone but reading in order recommended.
He notices her immediately from the ice. Instant connection but will they last? What do their families feel about the whirlwind romance? With all of the new side characters I see several new books in the future…..
I received a copy of this book from the author. Review voluntarily given.
This is a cute story, Becca went to a hockey game with a friend, had great seats and wearing a nerdy shirt, which captured the attention of Hockey star Travis. There was an instant connection. I loved the witty banter, the sweet, swoony moments. The friendships and the love of family. I started reading and couldn’t put it down, finished in a day. I loved the pictures throughout the book, they added some fun to the story. Great story, glad there will be more in the series.
