This series has crack in it. Was the writing good? Well that’s none of my business. I cannot be trusted when it comes to mafia romance I gobbled this up.

Saying I loved this story/book is an understatement. I really and truly enjoyed this. There is something about scarred Hero and the one woman who changes his whole life trope that makes me super happy. Especially when it is done right and to me this was story was just right.
We briefly meet Kai at the end of book 7 and all we know is that he was captured, tortured, and kept for a long period of time before he was saved. The only words he uttered were ''his tiger cub''. The mystery stuck with me.
We get his full story. The book contains past and present timelines. We find out all about his tiger cub and how he ended up captured, along with everything in between.
I refuse to give any spoilers beyond what is already known about the book. You need to go into this blind and enjoy the process. Despite how much pain you are put through, it'll be worth it in the end.
Kai aka ''The Demon'' jumped the list as my favorite MMC from Neva- tied with Mikhail. He was loyal to the core and the way he viewed Nera was beautiful. He cared for her deep within his bones and breathed only for her.
It's a slow burn but it was so worth it. The foundation these two built was filled with secrets but never lies. That might sound bad without context but trust me, it's not meant to be manipulative. Kai's ultimate goal is to protect Nera. From everyone and even himself.
He has only known one thing in this world and that is to kill. Killing is all he has. Everything else never mattered nor was it ever on his radar until a ray of sunshine makes her appearance and everything changes for him.
While Kai was obviously my favorite, Nera was also amazing. She had a lot of strength. She was resilient and was always filled with kindness.
We get a few characters from this series showing up briefly and their cameos added some needed humor to a dark story.
Also get to meet future MC's in this book and after reading one of the future couples interaction and mystery, I have to say I am extremely intrigued and excited!
This book along with ''Broken Whispers'' are my favorite in this Neva universe.

3.5 Into the Shadows Where I Belong Stars ⭐
It's a tragic love story. One that involves chance meetings, secrets and a courtship tainted in blood. How can you love someone who is irrevocably broken and devoid of empathy? Yet somehow a mafia princess does love a cold blooded killer.
“Maybe I don’t want you to keep leaving.” I touch his lower lip.
“Light and darkness don’t mix, tiger cub. They cancel each other out.” He dips his head and kisses the tip of my finger. “And I would never dare to shroud your flame.”
I usually adore stories that swing from past to present but the story around our tortured hero Kai was one that was hard to stomach at times. A killing machine without remorse, and it's understandable why it is so. Until Nera shows him care and affection.
Nera is a mafia princess living a false lie of independence. At any moment her father can take that, so she's living her life as she can. And when she rescues a bloodied stranger, it brings purpose to a meaningless existence. Even if Kai is a complete enigma, Nera can't help falling.
Told over a few years, Darkest Sins was a long winded saga. There were many tender moments between Kai and Nera that I adored. He was the ultimate protector and she was the healer. It's a long book with a difficult subject that took awhile to unfold. This book was the deepest and darkest of the series. Well written, emotional and draining. I just didn't love it.

This may be Neva Altaj's most powerful romance yet.
There was magic in this one, I'm telling you. There is no other explanation for this book having to of my least favorite tropes and doing them to perfection. I absolutely LOVE when an author can turn a "no" into a huge YES. Darkest Sins does that for me.

They had me by the jugular right from the beginning. Kai is a shell of a man and a killing machine. He cares for no one and he's been trained for one purpose only. Until the night he almost died and Nera steps in and stitches him back together. It starts a relationship that will change them both in ways they never expected.. without even knowing each other's names. To start at least.
Now Kai is obsessed with her. First he convinces himself he's just returning the favor. She saved him, so he owes her his protection. He watches her as a silent guardian, stepping in when she needs him or when he can't take another day without being in her presence.. but for how long will that be enough?
Of course, just as things are moving forward for them... fate throws a sucker punch to the heart. How will they ever move past it? How can Nera ever forgive him?
I was deeply drawn into the push and pull between these two. Their star-crossed lovers romance made me ache! I could NOT put this book down as I read til the wee hours of the morning. Sometimes it was hard to look.
I truly think this is the strongest entry to the series yet. The fact that this is book 9 in a series and I am still as engaged as ever... that's quite the accomplishment! The way the author set up the dominoes to fall, made it so hard to watch but there was no other way it could play out. That makes for a compelling ride that drags you along with it. I was desperate for them to keep fighting towards each other and prevail against everything pushing them apart.
I was left breathless and bursting with happiness. The struggle made the HEA so much sweeter.
Now... who's ready for Massimo & Zahara? ;)

I loved the other books in this series, however, this one fell flat for me. There are a lot of tropes involved here, and it's kind of overwhelming. This couple had spent more time apart than together. Up until the 80% mark, they are most likely separated and living their own lives. How they fell in love within a year of sporadic in-person meetings is quite difficult to understand. But apparently, it happened, and they fell hard for one another.
Kai (34) is obviously a sociopath who doesn't give a crap about killing; after all, he's a hitman. He just seems too emotionless and robotic with everything he does, unless he's around Nera (24). I struggled to connect with him, and I didn't like the mysterious aura he exhibited and his pull-and-pull stunts. Also, his darkest sin? Man, I don't know how Nera forgave him after what he did. I couldn't wrap my head around it. And sadly, that incident was glossed over and only mentioned briefly. I mean, why didn't they even think to talk more about it?
Nera (24) is a brave woman and smart enough to ensure her daughter's safety. There's nothing remarkable about her aside from the fact that she sang off key, was always on the lookout as to when Kai would show up, and was a proxy capo. I'm not sure how to feel about her getting over what Kai did all those years ago. She said her love for him was strong enough to forgive him and help her move on with her life. All I know is that she's a better person than I am. I don't think I have it in me to find that kind of forgiveness and encompassing love if that same scenario ever occurred to me. She's just a good person, that's for sure.
Sorry, but I didn't enjoy the characters individually or even as a couple. They are bland, and their weird relationship is not doing it for me. I tried, but even after I finished it, I still didn't feel the tension and chemistry between them. It's missing, and I don't know if this is just a me case.
Don't get me started on the almost 4-year separation. They didn't talk about the relevant things or what happened to them during their separation. They just pick up where they left off. I hoped for them to have a conversation first before doing anything together, but nope, that didn't happen. They got intimate again, and only after that did they decide to talk to each other. It made me scratch my head, but hey, it works for them, so I guess I should be fine with it.
Overall, this was okay, but I'm not invested in the story. But I'm looking forward to reading the next book, Age Gap and Step-Sibling forbidden romance.

Este es el noveno libro de la serie Perfectly Imperfect y tiene como protagonista a Kai, compañero de Sergei y Az en la organización en la que pertenecían, se sabe muy poco de él, solo que era el mejor asesino a sueldo y Nera personaje nuevo, aunque en el libro de Salvatore se menciona un poco de ella.
Desde hace muchos libros, venía esperando la historia de Kai y en como se quedó el libro 3 y 7 OH MY GOSH!! Mis expectativas hasta el cielo.
Y no me decepcionó, fue más de lo que esperaba, lo amé locamente con locura, no es un libro perfecto, pero Kai es perfecto I MEAN… HE IS PURE PERFECTION
HISTORIA
Un encuentro en una noche oscura con un extraño con una herida mortal, Nera no sabe si ayudarlo o dejarlo ahí pero su bondad no le permite dejarlo y lo ayudo llevándola a la clínica veterinaria donde trabaja curándole la herida, sin saber que el bello extraño se convertiría en su acosador como en su protector.
Kai sabe que está a punto de morir y está reconciliado con eso, piensa que sus pecados lo han alcanzado pero una chica se topa con él lo salva, él piensa que no es bueno para ella porque mientras él es oscuridad Nera es Luz y no quiere que su oscuridad se la trague, pero no puede evitar protegerla y acercarse a ella.
PERSONAJES
Nera es una de las protagonistas de esta serie más fuertes y valientes, empezó con una chica protegida por su padre debido que es el jefe de la mafia italiana en Boston, en donde no sabe quien es falso o sincero con ella, ella anhela libertad y por las circunstancias su vida cambia, se vuelve protectora, una fiera dispuesta hacer lo que tiene que hacer, me quito el sombrero por Nera.
Kai es el hombre más bello que existe, es un hombre que fue entrenado para matar, no siente empatía y él cree que no es capaz de albergar sentimientos por nadie, sin embargo Nera logró que empezaran a florecer sentimientos de protección y amor hacia ella.
Es él personaje que más ha sufrido y que más merece ser amado por eso Nera es perfecta para él, aunque pensó que la abandonó y fue el causante del cambio en su vida, lo perdonó, nunca fue rencorosa.

Sabía que este libro me iba a gustar, pero no que se convertiría en mi favorito.
A pesar de que es el libro más largo, no lo sentí al contrario no quería que se terminara me faltó más, espero que Neva les haga un epílogo largo.
Tenemos una larga espera para el siguiente libro y es que Neva nos dejó con bastantes preguntas intrigados y con muchas teorías.
- Todo es gris y vacío. Eres mi salvavidas, cachorro de tigre, porque no hay vida para mí sí no estás en ellas.

Nera es una de las protagonistas de esta serie más fuertes y valientes, empezó con una chica protegida por su padre debido que es el jefe de la mafia italiana en Boston, en donde no sabe quien es falso o sincero con ella, ella anhela libertad y por las circunstancias su vida cambia, se vuelve protectora, una fiera dispuesta hacer lo que tiene que hacer, me quito el sombrero por Nera.
Kai es el hombre más bello que existe, es un hombre que fue entrenado para matar, no siente empatía y él cree que no es capaz de albergar sentimientos por nadie, sin embargo Nera logró que empezaran a florecer sentimientos de protección y amor hacia ella.
Es él personaje que más ha sufrido y que más merece ser amado por eso Nera es perfecta para él, aunque pensó que la abandonó y fue el causante del cambio en su vida, lo perdonó, nunca fue rencorosa.

Sabía que este libro me iba a gustar, pero no que se convertiría en mi favorito.
A pesar de que es el libro más largo, no lo sentí al contrario no quería que se terminara me faltó más, espero que Neva les haga un epílogo largo.
Tenemos una larga espera para el siguiente libro y es que Neva nos dejó con bastantes preguntas intrigados y con muchas teorías.

Initially, I was not feeling the chemistry between Nera and Kai. Like previous books, it was instalove-y, but it felt uncharacteristically shallow compared to its predecessors. Nothing personal about Nera called to Kai.
As the novel progressed, their connection strengthened, making up for the beginning. I enjoyed how awkwardly generous Kai was, and I loved how perceptive Nera was. She didn’t need Kai to tell her his secrets because she already pieced it together.
Kai’s trigger happiness was cute (in the land of dark romance) at first. He was all too ready to kill a guy for looking at Nera too long. This quickly got old. By the end I was rolling my eyes at the amount of people who were shaking in their boots at his antics. The way he acted was in direct contrast to his need to keep Nera safe. I don’t know, I just feel like an outsider deciding to just kill whoever, whenever, for whatever stupid reason may kind of undermine the Donna’s authority and maybe, possibly create instability.
And then there was the incident.
In the author’s note, Neva Altaj specifically asked reviewers not to include spoilers for what Kai’s “darkest sin” was. Now, of course, this made me anxious, so the entire time I was reading about the budding romance, I couldn’t let myself swoon. In respect to the author’s wishes, I won’t be revealing the spoiler, but if you’re like me, where you literally cannot relax into the story until you know, you can find it in
Kai hated himself for it more than Nera did. As a reader, I forgave him quicker than Nera did (and she forgave him pretty damn quick). We know his intentions—and his ignorance to who Nera is—so it felt inevitable something like this would happen. As for Nera, I wish she had grappled with it more because of how it impacted and hurt her, but her easy forgiveness just showed how strong and overwhelming her love for Kai is.
I would’ve enjoyed the book more if I wasn’t dreading a heartbreak that. I understand why the warning/ask was there; I just wish I hadn’t seen it until after the fact.
Overall, it’s not my favorite book of the series, but it’s not the worst. Genuinely, I could read 100 books set in this universe. Neva Altaj’s writing is addicting, and I’m excitedly waiting the next one.

Cómo digo con algunas otras autoras, siempre es un deleite leer a Neva, este es un libro que esperaba con mucha ganas ya que desde que se nos presentó a Kai me llamaba mucho la atención y me encantó, la historia de como se conocen y como evoluciona la relación, no soy fan de los libros donde vigila a la chica pero con Kai fue muy top, el como la cuidaba y los regalos que le da fue muy hermoso, hubieran algunas cosas que me hicieron falta, siento que yo quería que Nera nos narrata ciertas cosas pero weno se lo perdono, ella toda una guerra, algo que me gusta de las chicas de Neva es que no se dejan, no importa que tengan personalidades muy diferentes todas saben como salir adelante, en fin estoy muy emocionada por lo que se viene 🤩

Reread 1/28/25 as a refresher before reading the next book in the series.
How is this series so good?!
Every single one of these troubled psycho MMCs just grabs ahold of you. This author is sooooo good at making these guys so compelling. The slow burn and build up with the Hero and Heroines in this series is just masterful. If you love broken main characters, whether the guy or the girl, that just need a little nonjudgemental TLC, acceptance, and love....then this is the series for you.
Lordy, did I love Kai. He was so intense and "all in", he stole my heart. I also really loved Nera. She was such a strong badass. She took a leap, letting in her demon, and gained the love of a lifetime. I devoured this in one sitting. I literally was getting sad as I was looking at the page count as I was nearing the end. I wished it was longer. I needed more!
Now I can't wait for the next one. It's got a couple of my favorite tropes: prison and I'm assuming back and forth letters. Years of build up between the two MCs?! Yes please!! I've already pre-ordered Massimo and Zara's story and then found out about Rafael and Vasilisa's spinoff story and pre-ordered it too. (and let's not talk about how much I want to read Arturo when it finally comes out) I'm an addict and I need more of this world, asap.

Yep 6th time was the charm. i actually enjoyed this couple until they got together and then Kai just started getting on my damn nerves. To some extent i did understand why he was the way he was, i just didn't like it lol not sure i'm even making sense lol

i just did a re read and omg this book is one of the best in this series znd kia is also one of the best mmc ever .

This was an interesting and very entertaining mafia book .the story line was so good and kinda of new to me and I liked it .I would say that the 4 🌟 are totally for the vibes .this book made me giggle and laughe and tear up on multiple occasions.

I loved kia the moment we meet him in Burned dreams and I wanted his story so much .I felt really sad for him and how he thinks that nobody will love him or how he doesn't deserves love and a family 💔. I love him and how obsessed and protective he was with Nera from the beginning. That man was cutting himself as an excuse to meet her 😂. He was crazy and literally pulling his gun on anyone and everywhere. This man was dieing and his only thoughts were about her and her only. He literally lived for her 😭. The second part or when he did what he did was so sad to read .reading about his thoughts and sadness after he decided to leave it all for her and them to be together 💔 .I loved him in the second part too .he was still madly in love and over the top protective and obsessed 😍 and even more crazier than before. He stood by her side and supported her even way before knowing the truth and even more after than .last but not least that man cried for her and when she was talking about ...and I love me a confident man who shows emotions for his girl .I just love him
Nera is a strong character and bad uss queen. I loved her character from the beginning to finish. I loved her at the beginning and how she was stubborn and didn't back down from her father and did what she wanted .she was kinda of crazy to fall in love with her Stalker and literally doing it all not even knowing his name 🤣.however, I loved her even more in the second part and how she did become the Donna and slayed in doing it anyway. She fought for her family and didn't back down even though she was tired of it all.

I am so excited for the new characters .Massimo ans Zara are 🤌,I was in love with them from the start even though I understood nothing of what tf is happening or how it even happened. I was confused at the end for them though.
And we finally confirmed the second generation mmc for Roman daughter and let me tell you I already like him 😫🤣.

“Ah, yeah, I will. Last time I practiced giving stitches, poor Todd didn’t fare too well.”
Instantly, tension grips me, and a barely suppressed rage boils in my stomach. Who the fuck is Todd? A male friend? A boyfriend?
“And where is Todd now?”
“Back home, hidden in a suitcase under my bed.” She comes to stand in front of me and looks down at my arm. “This is a really bad idea.” She killed the guy and stuffed him in a suitcase? It’s a pain in the ass to fit a body in a suitcase—I know that from experience. You need to break the limbs first, at every joint. Depending on the size of the bag, the neck might need to be broken, too. I narrow my eyes and watch her as she methodically cleans the blood from the cut. And what about the smell? Dead bodies start to stink after twenty-four hours.
“How long has . . . Todd been under your bed?” I ask as she puts a numbing spray around the cut.
“Um, ten, maybe twelve years. You’re distracting me.”
Twelve years? She must have started young. Younger than I was when I made my first kill at just eight years old. “I don’t think it was wise to keep him there all this time. You should
have got rid of him right away, cub.”
“I’m sentimental. Besides, I couldn’t separate Todd from his buddies. I like to pull them all out from time to time.” She takes a deep breath and reaches for the needle and thread. “Okay, here we go.”
“Them? How many do you have under your bed?”
“Besides Todd? Maybe five or six more.” The needle pierces my skin.
“Can you please be quiet now so I can concentrate? I can’t do this and talk about my plushies at the same time.”
“What are plushies?”
“Stuffed toys. Please stop talking.”
Toys? I go over the whole exchange in my head again. Yes, it makes more sense now.

Lucia opens the ketchup bottle and squeezes at least half of the contents over the cookies. Then, she fishes one of the wafers from the mess and starts nibbling on it. I take a seat on the other side of the breakfast bar and stare at my baby girl. Her chair is covered in red stains and so is the top of her pajamas. Ketchup is smeared all over her face. Cub is going to kill me.
LMAO 😂😂
I drop the sheets and very slowly extend my hand, intending to wipe away the smear of ketchup from her little cheek with just my thumb.
Lucia stills. I freeze, as well. Panic explodes in my system.
I’ve scared her.

Con este libro no esperaba que la autora escribiera tantas páginas, pero la verdad es que me gustó y llegué a disfrutarlo. En cuanto a los personajes, habría preferido que tuvieran más protagonismo en el presente, ya que aunque el libro fue un poco largo, sentí que se volvió rápido hacia el final.
Esta autora tiene una pluma muy adictiva y siento que podría leer todos los libros que saque.

I was waiting to read Kai and Nera's story like anything.
now its safe to say that this is my fav book in the series.

How do you love someone who has no past, who saw the world in black and white and killing is all what he knows.
Kai had gone through so much in life that he was convinced no one will love him and that's why he was always isolated until on a fateful night he met Nera who saved him. And some how Nera became his obsession. He lived for her breathed for her, she became the center of his existence.
There were no lies between them just secrets and thats what leads the story.
Nera was such a strong fierce and kind. She understood Kai and who he is without him saying.

This book unexpectedly stood out from all the others in the series Perfectly imperfect.
I think it came with the experience of writing the books, but I loved every detail that Neva Altage laid out here. Especially the pacing of the plotline.
I noticed that he always uses the same tropes like age gap, traumatic experiences, possessive MMC, grumpy & sunshine and some secrets/lies between the couple.
Oh, and his favourite "trope", which I honestly love because it stands out, is that in every couple one of them has some kind of disability like voice loss, hearing loss, just a crazy guy, etc.
This book made me cry because I saw these characters, saw their backstory and who they are now. And even that possessive care and protection that Kai felt for Nera was deeply understandable to me.
For me there was no lack of detail or plot holes here, which is always a pleasure to read.
All in all, I have nothing but good things to say about this book.
100% recommend it to everyone.

Nera’s Demon and his tiger Cub will always have a place in my heart.
Whatever Neva writes, I’ll read it. I’m that in love with this series.
Nera and Kai meets quite unexpectedly and just when Kai wanted to give up living. Opposite in everything they somehow fit and complemented each other.
Dear hod, Kai’s charisma and style was unique! He was grumpy, genuinely broody and anti social. His character was done really well.
His showdown scenes were just 🔥!
I loved how their story progressed. It had care, passion, obsession and need. The small small romantic scenes and gestures were amazing.
Kai and Nera made me feel so much.
I didn’t see the that twist coming until just before it hit and I was heartbroken for both of them.
Part 2 was amazing, especially Nera’s character growth.
But the scenes and bromance between Belov, Az and Kai was just out of the world. I was laughing uproariously at them. Can’t get enough of them. And that tiny Cameo about Drago made me reread their book.
Overall a fantastic book with so much love, passion and feelings.
Absolutely recommended, KU.

Очікувала цю книгу дуже🖤 Обожнюю книги Неви саме за простоту сюжету але в одночас це викликає купу емоцій. Читаючи її книги я відпочиваю🥹
Нера Веронезе - принцеса мафії а саме Коза-Ностри, домовилася з батьком що він дасть їй пожити звичайним вільним життя кілька років до того як видати її заміж. Вона купила невеличку квартиру і почала ходити на курси з ветеренарства. Її життя було цілком спокійне як для життя у світі мафії, до одного вечора. Повертаючись з вечірки вона зупинилась на світлофорі, і через дорогу в провулку помітила чоловіка на колінах який дивиться у небо повне зірок. Вона не могла залишити його, не спитавши чи з ним все добре. Та коли вона підійшла до нього то побачила що він стікає кров‘ю, тому запропонувала свою допомогу.
Кай Мазур - професійний найманий вбивця, який немає ні сім‘ї, ні друзів. Він незнає своїх біологічних батьків і свого справжнього іменні. Своє дитиство до 8 років він провів у прийомних сім‘ях, допоки не вбив одного з них через те як він з ним поводився. Після цього він потрапив у психічний диспансер де його знайшов Крюгер і вирішив що він буде ідеальною «бойовою машиною».
Він не знав ніяких почуттів, поки не зустрів Неру.
Його почуття до неї описуються один простим словом - це одержимість. Він став її сталкером, її тінню. Те як він оберігав їі😍 і як намагався зробити приємно ( сцена де він шукав для неї петрушку, змусила мене сміятися кілька хвилин). Також тут один з моїх улюблених тропів - це «різниця у віці».
Так моментами це «клішований роман», але він приніс мені неймовірну кількість емоцій. Мені сподобалось як авторка розкрила Неру пізніше, її силу та відвагу. Перша жінка, яка керує Коза-Нострою. І я вже дуже чекаю на історію Массімо та Зари, їх взаємодія в цій книзі заінтригувала, очевидно там є якась таємниця.🙃🖤
Тому для мене - це 5/5. Це - моє затишне місце, готова перечитувати цю книгу знову🙌🏻🥹

Ya los conocimos en libros anteriores. Nera es una princesa de la mafia y Kai es otro de los "experimentos" de Krugger.
El libro se divide en dos partes. La primera me gustó más que la segunda. La historia de amor en general, es muy linda. Creo que en la segunda mitad se complica innecesariamente, con muchos obstáculos, (algunos se resuelven de manera muy simple, para mi).
Pero es un buen romance con todos los ingredientes típicos.
No me cerró mucho la parte spicy, no sentí reflejadas las personalidades de los protas en éste rubro. Me sonó a: "pongo lo que esta de moda". No hacía falta.
En resumen, es una linda historia, con todos los componentes del género.
Lo recomiendo ♥️

Tristemente no me gustó 🥺 esperaba con ansias más de esta saga y este libro.
La historia de Nera y Kai parecía prometedora pero la verdad es que sé pone cada vez más absurda en todos los aspectos incluso al final. Hasta me pareció más una parodia que una novela seria de dark romance. 😬
Obviamente no podía faltar la dosis de spicy. 🌶️🔥

Darkest Sins is delicious. I do like Kai. Made me wanting my own demon/ stalker. I like him as character. Dark, mysterious and deadly. I wish at the end he is not that hopeless romantic. I wish Miss Altaj extend the depth of the characters.
Overall, a very delicious read.
