Murder In the Pines - Book 2. Det. Quinn sleeping is overrated when women a dying
The plot thickens... I just made that up. But, really, the plot thickens! Detective Riley Quinn finds herself embroiled in family matters that have spilled over into hate, betrayal, jealousy, and murder. While this is going on, there is still a budding romance - or not - with the new doctor in town. This relationship comes with a lot of baggage. How do you balance your life and still do your job. As the death toll increases, the suspect pool narrows. Is something in this town driving people nuts or is it attracting them? As you will find out in Book 2, Murder in the Pines by writer A. J. Rivers, there is more than one deranged person in Detective Quinn's orbit. -Mr.Bill
This book is the best of the first two by far! I was not expecting that ending and that huge plot twist about her mother. I literally had my jaw on the FLOOR when I read the last two pages. Going back to the book itself, I just think that this book was so much more well written than the first, and just the story moved along faster and better than the first book. The romance between Riley and Logan is that slow build that I love, and then finding out the Jamie is literally like a psychopath and hearing her dead sisters voice was just so good! It still is frustrating that Jamie is trying to take Dani away and I hate her, but now it makes more sense. I'm really hoping that these next couple of books are as good as this one!

This is another fast paced book in the series featuring Riley (Detective) and Logan (Doctor) and what is happening in their lives. Riley runs into a missing woman and a young girl. She luckily finds the missing girl but unfortunately not the missing woman. They do find a dead woman in the fields but this one had been dead for a while and this was after going through the fields. There is another missing woman reported by her sister. They do find her as well and luckily finds the cars which were towed but completely clean. Logan is trying to keep his medical business going as a doctor and his only daughter safe from an Aunt who wants her. The ending is shocking which will lead into the next book.
OMG! This book is full of surprises! I CANNOT wait until the next book comes out, I couldn't put it down! As we get to know more of this town and it's cast of characters, another series of murders are discovered. There are surprises at every turn. The bodies being found are not the only excitement going on in Pine Brooke. Logan faces his sister in law and the custody battle she has started but her lack of control is going to be her downfall. Add in a few romances here and there and there is a little bit of everything. The cliffhanger ending in unbearable, I am anxiously waiting for more! Well written and a great story!
Riley is on a case of a missing person. She was on her way to Pine Brooke and they couldn't figure out where she went. While searching for her they came across another body. Clues kept popping up and they eventually found that there were at least two more bodies, all of them having the same features. They finally found the body of the missing relative and she looked similar to the other women. Baffled Riley is trying to find a connection. You will be surprised as to who they arrest for the killings. Jamie is still trying to get custody of Dani, Logan's daughter. She is definitely going off the deep end. To be continued.
A J Rivers is one of my favorite authors. The books never fail to entertain me. This one is a good one. My only complaint is the ending. That left me disappointed. It just ended! There was no resolution to the problem of one of the characters. Good thing the next book is available. Hopefully, that will answer my question. Other than that, I love her characters and look forward to reading tha next book in this series. I already have it loaded in my kindle app.
In general I hate these kind of endings. I read reviews and if I see “cliffhanger” anywhere, I won’t buy them.
The ending of this book was SO bad. I get wanting to end on a cliffhanger, but this was completely unnecessary.
3 plotlines in 1 book were far too many. And there were small things that were added that did nothing for the plot (Rory and Delilah dating the same guy? I mean come on.)
AND once again. The editing on this book was terrible. Spelling mistakes. Wrong words. Sentence structure. I don't know if these are self-published or what, but someone needs to read them before they go to print.
Young women are going missing without a trace, so Riley Quinn and her partner are tasked with finding them. As clues (or the lack of them) turn up, they uncover deadly secrets about someone close that will turn the cases on their heads. Meanwhile, Logan's sister-in-law tries to get custody of his daughter, Dani, but her dark past comes back to haunt her. Such an incredible series already, and it's just getting started!
There are not enough adjectives to compliment the writing of this book. I couldn't put it down needing to see which way the storyline was going. I was expecting something to happen at the end but was so surprised. Can yea it for book 3. This is an outstanding series, highly recommend.
Very interesting stories in this novel. There were the missing girls, young women who x went missing and the doctors problem with his sister in law. The murders got solved with two surprises on who was responsible. The taking of the doctors daughter wasn't solved yet.
Really enjoyed this book! Riley Quinn never gives up on a case. This story had several twists and turns and plenty of a who done it vibe. Women are showing up dead and Riley needs to find the killer. Jamie is still trying to get custody of Dani and goes uses extreme measures to get what she want. Can't wait for the next book.
I thought I knew what was going to happen but NO. This book is so interesting you cannot put it down. Between all the missing women, eventually found murdered and the interesting cases that continue coming in to the doctors clinic, one's mind is jumping all the time. You have to read this one to learn the unexpected ending.
Life in a small town has its own challenges. Logan, the doctor, is struggling to adapt to life there. Riley, the police detective, is slowly circling around the doctor as they both pretend to deny their attraction. Add murders and a crazy aunt, stir well, and end up with a compelling story.
This continuing story is fascinating 😃. Just when you think you know what's going on, something else comes out of left field 😉. Fantastic storyline, intense situations, gruesome bodies and wonderful characters 😄. Thanks again A.J., I truly can't wait to see what happens next 🤓.
Dani and Logan were beginning to settle in at their home in a small town. Logan's wife had died several years prior to the move. Jamie, Logan's sister-in-law came to visit and decided she needed to take Dani to live with her. Meanwhile the small town was plagued with missing young women. What an ending, gotta read!
Once again, if you don't want to buy two books don't buy this one. Instead of finishing this book, she leaves the book without resolution. And then tells you to buy another book to finish the story that you have already paid for. I abhor an author who leaves a story unfinished. A.J. Rivers goes on my "do not buy" list.
This is a very good mystery book but I could not give it five stars because of the ending. I hope there is a ending to the rest of this book in the next one. I do recommend this book though.
What a couple of absolute mind-spinning twists! Never saw either of them coming and was blown away. Riley will figure it out, I have no doubt. What a great new series.
I absolutely hate books that end with a main storyline just left at a crucial point ! Forcing a reader to purchase another book to get the rest of the story is ridiculous! If your stories are good readers will continue to purchase them without being forced
This series is still about two different stories going on at the same time. Riley and the other police solving murders and Logan trying to keep his daughter from her unstable aunt. There's a big cliffhanger at the end regarding Jamie (the crazy aunt).
Fantastic series going. Such a captivating series. I can't put down. Looking forward to book 3. Some one needs to get a handle on what Jamie is really like. Fantastic reading.
Story is very easy to follow & keeps you not wanting to put the book down. Very much enjoyed all the characters & how the author described then. Can't wait for book 3 to come out.
Book#2 - Detective Riley Quinn has just recovered from discovering a killer in her town, when she gets a missing persons case. A young woman was driving through the town for a baby shower and vanished. The family is devastated. A search of the town begins with several town volunteers. Days later a body is found and everyone thinks it’s the missing girl. However, it the body that resembles the matching girl but it not her. Now Detective Riley has to figure out who this newly discovered body is and where is the missing woman. As she investigates, it seems as if the 2 women have a connection and now she has that piece of information, she is sure she will find the killer.
Start with the the Girls in the Pines, and keep going. Riley won't give up till she solves the murders, wants to find the why. Murders in the Pines find Riley looking for more answers but you won't see the ending coming. Couldn't put it down!
What an ending I did not see that coming. Cannot wait for book 3. The book is the usual writing from A.J but this one felt different it had me engaged also hoping Riley and Logan connect eventually.
After the first couple of chapters, I already knew who the killer was…..I was WRONG!! This was a good one. I really like these characters, and I like the different points of view!!
This was a awesome story about Riley and team trying to find out who is killing women and why with a ending you didn’t see coming. This story had lots of suspense and action. Thank you.
