One of the things I loved most about this book was how beautifully it highlighted the Philippines …especially our breathtaking waterfalls!💕

As a Filipino reader, I found myself in awe all over again. Reading this honestly made me add waterfall hopping to my bucket list… and that’s saying something, because I’m definitely not the outdoorsy type! 😅🌊

In the story, waterfall hopping becomes more than just an adventure, it’s a turning point for Sarah. Each waterfall offers her a new perspective, nudging her to reflect on different parts of her life and encouraging her to keep searching for what else might be out there. And what she finds goes far beyond scenic views and colorful stones. Along the way, there’s an unexpected romance with her best friend Benito, who steps up and joins her journey. Then come the real shockers: two truth bombs from her mother that completely reshape how Sarah understands her family and herself.

I won’t give too much away because I want you, dear reader, to chase this “Steady Sarah “ waterfall on your own. But I will say this: the story is a refreshing and heartfelt reminder of how painful it can be to confront long-held beliefs, unlearn what you thought was true, and rebuild yourself from the ground up.♥️

I also adored the quiet “pebbles of wisdom” scattered throughout the book. They felt grounding and inspiring, making this such a perfect read for the start of a new year…when reflection and new beginnings feel especially close.🌷

A story about loss, courage, risk-taking, and transformation, “Steady Sarah “ is for anyone who has lingered in the shallow end for too long and is finally ready to chase the waterfalls that might just change their life. ✨

Steady Sarah is a delightful, quick read that offers more than just a love story. It’s also a journey through the scenic beauty of the Philippines, the depth of Filipino family bonds, and a thoughtful nod to the country’s Indigenous Peoples (IP).

Spoilers ahead

What makes Sarah’s journey so captivating is its relatability. I was hooked within just a few chapters. Like Sarah, I resonate with the feeling of being intensely focused on career goals and meticulously planning each step in life. Reading about her personal struggles and self-discovery felt like a gentle reminder that despite the unexpected detours and setbacks, we’re ultimately where we need to be.

The author used beautiful words to vividly describe the seven waterfalls and it fueled my imagination and sparked an urge to explore the country’s tourist destinations. There’s also a layer of cultural insight; the narrative offers a respectful glimpse into the lives of Indigenous communities, which serves as a meaningful eye-opener.

Steady Sarah is a celebration of life, identity, and the beauty of finding one’s way. Definitely a must-read especially for young professionals who are still finding their way in this chaotic life.

“Life is full of surprises, and sometimes the best moments are the ones we never expect.”

Steady Sarah flows in a way that makes every moment vivid.
I felt like I was truly traveling. The setting isn’t just a backdrop, it pulls you in and makes the journey feel alive.

What stayed with me most was how honest the story is.
The pressure to always keep going. The fear of falling behind.
How work can slowly take over your life without you noticing.

This was a very timely read, especially during a hectic season at work. Some lines quietly resonated with me, serving as a gentle reminder not to make work your whole world.
As someone dealing with burnout and imbalance, the story felt comforting, like a gentle mirror rather than a lecture.

The book also gently encourages you to return to the things you love, to be curious, and to step outside your usual routine.
It inspired me to try new things and to experience life more fully, even in small ways.

By the end, Steady Sarah left me with a sense of calm, a quiet reassurance. Life can surprise us in good ways, and even when things feel uncertain, everything will be okay.

Sometimes, all we need is the courage to pause and choose ourselves. This one life. This one adventure. 🌿✨

This book is truly a gem. 💎

We follow Sarah who plans everything to the littlest detail until life interrupts. Now on the quest of chasing waterfalls, she finds herself unraveling, healing, and discovering that meaning often lives in the moments we never planned for.

I loved how Sarah learns to see meaning in the smallest moments. She turns ordinary details into something profound. It truly felt like I was walking beside her as she was chasing waterfalls, slowing down, and healing.

Beyond the journey of self-discovery, I appreciated how the author weaves in cultural lessons from different provinces. I learned so much, and it’s a beautiful reminder of how rich and diverse the Philippines truly is. I hope we get to honor and preserve the legacies that are struggling to exist today.

This book is a gentle reminder that life is filled with beautiful things when we slow down long enough to notice them.

… and my reminder to travel! ✈️

I didn’t really build any expectations for this book.
All I had in my mind is that I want to explore more novels by Filipino authors. I couldn’t remember when was the last time I read one. Probably 9 years ago?
And wow, this book really showed me what I was missing.

Steady Sarah is a story about a woman in her mid-20s going through challenges in her life that, I would dare say, is not uncommon to our generation. It tackled career, love, family, self-discovery, taking risks, and courage. Sometimes, it even felt like a travel book.

Unlike most books where we have hard plot twists by the last 25%, Steady Sarah was a whirlwind by the first 25% then, like its title, it took me to a steady journey of healing and acceptance.

I feel like it’s the first time I read a book which had non-problematic characters - all of them just on a journey to being better. I’m not sure if the book could use a bit more drama but it didn’t feel that way to me. Bonus: this is at least 1 🌶️ spice level lol.

Last and definitely my favorite part of this book.
THE WRITING. Amazing. Every chapter was just beautifully written. It’s given me a whole perspective of how a novel can be so gracefully poetic.

Thank you @justinetajo for this book, it definitely rekindled my interest in books by Filipino authors. ❤️

Absolutely a lovely read! It’s easy to read and the lines are almost all quotable! Sarah is like many of us, steady. She is independent, career-driven and just ready to “get over” her problems and move on. The heartbreaks she experienced were so relatable. I had to pause for they brought back some memories. For me, it’s a story about truly rediscovering oneself with the support of loved ones and thru experiencing nature. I loved that the story also showcased the beauty of some of the waterfalls in the Philippines. As a person who loves seeing and experiencing waterfalls, I totally enjoyed this book. I would check Google and look at picture of those mentioned in the story and made me want to visit them too. Looking forward to the author’s next book!

Steady Sarah is a gentle yet powerful journey about finding yourself after life hits you with one loss after another—like standing in the rain and wondering when it will finally stop.

Sarah earns the nickname Steady Sarah for a reason. She’s the kind of person who holds everything together—career, family, relationships—with logic, grace, and quiet strength. She’s dependable, composed, and always “fine.” But when the plans she worked so hard for begin to fall apart, she’s forced to face a painful question: what happens when the steady one finally feels unsteady?

I'm glad to have this book as my first book tour of the year. It touches timeless struggles of women and it hits so close to home in so many ways. Reading this book also stirred memories of my own travels—the quiet healing, the sense of freedom, and that childlike joy of chasing waterfalls whenever the opportunity comes.

Steady Sarah is comforting, relatable, and quietly inspiring. It reminds you that it’s okay to pause, to fall apart, and to rebuild yourself in your own time. Thank you to Justine Camacho Tajonera for writing such a heartfelt story.

So here’s your reminder: keep chasing waterfalls—and never stop chasing your dreams. 💧✨

As someone who currently wants to go back into reading, I find this book to be fun and easy for me to read!

I enjoyed how “Steady Sarah” is not always so steady. I love how it shows how difficult healing is and how sometimes we need to step out of our comfort zone in order to truly heal.

Also, the alliteration in the character's names is really fun, at first, I thought it was only for Sarah, but it was cool to see it on other characters.
