The thing I love most is well-developed, complex and flawed characters (because - come on... perfect is BORING!!! 😂) and Callie Stewart is just that.
Once in high school, she was the popular cheerleader - but she begins her year at BWU broken and scarred - mentally and physically, carrying lots of pain and guilt. 💔

This is a college "Enemies to Lovers" romance about a second chance - to amend... to forgive... to move on... and love. 🙏
The author did a great job with the characters development. Callie and Hayden both evolved, as individual and as a couple. 💕
There was one thing that bothered me though - Hayden. I was so curious to know what caused this explosion between them and why he was so full of hatred and anger - and, frankly, I wasn't convinced... Perhaps because it was unclear how from the awkward, sweet and shy boy he used to be - he became this big cocky player - in and out of the football field (that's why it took me a long time to like him!) - but unfortunately, it wasn't explained at all... 😱
Apart from that, the story was great and the twist was crazy. I definitely didn't see that coming!!! 💥💥💥
This is my first book by Anna, but it certainly won't be the last. 💕

I am done, the hero has slept with two girls and almost had a blowjob from a third which immediately led to him sticking his tongue down the heroines mouth bc she was watching them. I'm tired of reading about his dick stirring for every female in his line of vision. So over this shit....this is why I dont even attempt college books anymore. I know better. I dont care if she is the one in the wrong in the book. I do not want to read about heroines seeing the hero have sex, I'm tired of it. Get a fucking new plot device! I dont need pages about his hookups to inform me he has moved on from what she did to him. Why does she have to be paid back in that way? On top of the fact all she has ever had is horrible sex prior to him, so damn sexist.

WOW!!!
I don't know where to start with writing this review because this book brought all emotions and left me speechless.
In one simple sentence...
Anna completely surprised me with this book!
I love her writing style didn't change in this book much but I could felt on some parts that she wrote freely and that made the book more interesting...
And also funny!
Since I've read and loved her previous YA series "Greyford High", I can compare it to this book.
I noticed how her transition from writing YA romance books to NA romance books has resulted in reaching a higher level in her writing career and I have no doubt she will continue in that way with other books in this series.
"Kiss To Conquer" is the first book in the "Blairwood University" series.
It's a NA sports college romance with enemies to lovers and second chance trope.
Callie is an interesting female character.
She is not a perfect character, but throughout the book, she was aware of her mistakes and tried to correct them even though it seemed impossible.
What I liked most was how she grew throughout the book and eventually became the person she always should have been.
Hayden is a male character that I didn't like at first because of his behavior toward Callie.
But after I found out the real truth about what happened between them in the past I understood his behavior.
Just like Cassie, he also changed a lot throughout the book and became the man that every woman would want next to her.
Callie and Hayden's relationship was complicated from the start due to conscious but also those mistakes for which neither of them was responsible.
After going through all the possible obstacles that life put in front of them throughout the whole book, they the end they finally got their well-deserved happily ever after.
If you loved Anna's previous books or you're just looking for NA sports college romance, then this is the book for you!!!
Highly recommended!!!

If you love the sports romance genre, especially a College/University sports romance, this one is for you. This story had everything from angst to passion and was a surprisingly emotional read, while also being a fun and enjoyable slow burn.
For those that like a slow burn, this book will not disappoint. Man, do I love a good slow burn and this was a memorable one. All of the tropes that I love were used in this story and fit perfectly.
I loved everything about this novel from the friendship and loyalty between teammates, to the chemistry between the two main characters. Also, this book was EMOTIONAL. Way more than I expected but it was poignant and it was powerful. There was a specific scene that I will be vague on because I don’t want to spoil anything, but it clearly showed the absolute loss and pain that Callie was going through. Even though there were multiple scenes that had the emotions running high, that specific scene BROKE me (…and broke Hayden as well—a hint for those that know the scene).
This was an amazing read and one that kept me up late reading until the book was finished (which is a rarity and signifies a true win in books). Not only do I want to continue this series, but I want to check out the rest of the books that are written by this author. From the plot, to the characters, to the writing style—this book had everything that I look for in a novel.

I can't tell you how much I struggled to reach the 50% point, let alone finish this book. The story couldn't hold my interest at all, I kinda hated the mmc and I liked the fmc okay but it wasn't enough to make me enjoy the story.
Of course, there's a possibility that it's me and not the book but I honestly didn't like it. The only reason I finished it is because when I reached the 50% I had already read more than 200 pages and I thought it was a shame to left it unfinished. I'm not going to read the rest of the books in the series. 2 ⭐

Un bel new adult ambientato al college, in cui i protagonisti hanno un passato in comune che stravolge un attimo il "solito" plot infatti al liceo lui era lo sfigato che andava dietro alla popolare.Peccato che poi stanchi un po' perché Abbastanza lungo e mi ha dato l'impressione di voler esagerare un po' mettendo tante cose sul fuoco e poi alcune lasciarle dimenticate.

This book combined two of my favorite tropes... Enemies-to-lovers and second chance romance. I found it to be brilliantly written with a perfectly executed storyline and well developed characters that you couldn't help but feel for and love. Five stars for Callie, Hayden and Kiss To Conquer!

To be totally honest with you, I learned about Anna B. Doe through many of my friends on instagram and i decide to trust them and to take a chance on her...
So when I saw that she was about to release a new book in a brand new series, i was right on board and I feel so lucky that i took a chance on her and one of her stories...
Her writing is amazing and effortless, her storyline capturing and her heroes so lovable and charming even with their many flaws...
I loved this story and i can not wait for the rest of the books in the series!!!!

Well, i loved very much both Callie and Hayden.
The truth is that i didn't really liked what Callie did to Hayden in the past, but my heart was breaking for her. She needed a wake up call, but life gave her the lesson with a really cruel way...
As for Hayden??? Yep, he was a little bit cruel with Callie in the beginning, but he had his reasons... The only sure thing was that his heart never stopped beating for this girl and everything that he was doing was showing it to us...
What I really loved was that from the very first moment, he never looked Callie differently, even though she wasn't the same. That fact just showed me the level of his love.
"Hayden... he makes me want to dream again. He makes me want to have a different future. Believe I can actually have it. That I deserve it."
"She is different. She's the one who makes me want the things I never wanted before. She always did, only then I never thought it would be possible for me to actually have them."
Honestly, i don't know what more to say about this story.
It was an amazing book that got to me from the first page. I just wanted to devour it.
I loved everything about the story. There were too many things that were connecting these two...
They had a second chance to love. Will they be smart enough to grab this opportunity??? Or the past will always stand in their way???
Callie and Hayden were borned for each other. Their chemistry was electrifying!!!
"I need you to fight. Fight for you, for me, for us. Can you do that? Or better yet, do you want to? Do you want to fight for us, Callie? I need you to choose me."
And of course, the secondary characters were sooo intriguing.
Can't wait for more of them!!!

Callie decide di frequentare il college di Blairwood University, allo scopo di poter superare, almeno spera, il terribile incidente che è costato la vita ai suoi genitori.
Al Campus rivede una sua vecchia conoscenza, Hayden, un compagno di scuola al quale tempo addietro aveva giocato un brutto tiro.
All’inizio il ragazzo, preso da risentimento nei suoi confronti, col suo comportamento altezzoso decide di ferirla, per vendicarsi del torto subito in passato. Ma ben presto cambia opinione su di lei.
Callie è decisa a sanare le ferite che gli ha inferto, così decide di frequentarlo. Col trascorrere dei giorni si rende conto di avere delle affinità con Hayden, e ne resta piacevolmente sorpresa. “Un filo invisibile li lega”.
Lei è una ragazza dalle tante sfaccettature, e Hayden ama vedere il suo lato giocoso:
«È così diversa da quello che fa vedere agli altri, a scuola. E in qualche modo sento che lo fa solo con me, facendo diventare questo suo gesto ancora più speciale. Le differenze tra di noi si notano eccome. Dura contro soffice. Grande contro piccola. Scura contro pallida. Non potremmo essere più diversi di così, eppure…»
Ma Callie ha i suoi demoni contro cui combattere, che non la abbandonano neppure la notte, trasformando tutti i suoi sogni in terribili incubi, nei quali rivive costantemente l’incidente.
Qualcosa dentro Hayden si spezza nel vederla così straziata. Sembra così piccola e fragile tra le sue braccia. È sempre stata minuscola, ma la sua insolenza era abbastanza grande da compensare il resto. Non adesso, però. È come se quel terribile incidente l’avesse rotta.
Completamente e irreparabilmente.
Non è rimasto più niente della bellissima ragazza California reginetta di bellezza al collage. Tormento e disperazione traspaiono dai suoi occhi, da quando tre anni prima ha smesso di sognare un futuro.
«All’inizio era difficile anche solo pensare di alzarmi la mattina, quando tutto quello che volevo fare era dormire e non svegliarmi affatto. Ma col tempo ho accettato il mio destino e la vita in cui sono stata costretta a vivere, senza le persone che amavo di più. Non ho mai iniziato a sognare di nuovo. Fino ad ora. Hayden mi fa venire voglia di riprendere a farlo. Mi fa venire voglia di avere un futuro diverso».
Ma il destino, beffardo, porta a galla quel maledetto passato che i due ragazzi condividono.
Hayden. La partita. Vedere Ben per la prima volta dopo il liceo. La sua scioccante rivelazione.

Sto recuperando qualche libro lasciato dietro. Questa serie mi era sfuggita. Buon inizio , due personaggi complessi con un passato ingombrante. Mi sono piaciuti anche gli altri personaggi che penso saranno i protagonisti dei successivi.

This is my first book from Anna B. Doe and I'm impressed. This was such an easy college romance to read and was definitely a refreshing book after being stuck in a reading slump.
Callie and Hayden first meet in high school. Callie is popular, dating the high school quarterback and a bit of a mean girl. Hayden, the football player with two left feet, is smitten with Callie and begins to tutor her in maths class. After an incident that leaves Hayden expelled, the two drift apart. Callie and Hayden reunite 3 years later at college, where Hayden is now on the college football team while Callie is struggling with the accident that killed her family.
This was a fun, easy read with interesting characters. Hayden is such a sweet MMC who wears his heart on his sleeve and Callie is such a complex character. I also enjoyed the author's writing style so I will definitely be continuing the series.
I only rated the book 4 stars as it did feel similar to other college romance I've read. I would have loved to have seen the side characters utilised more in this book, since it's obvious we'll be getting books about them.

Callie and Hayden first meet in high school. Callie is popular, dating the high school quarterback and a bit of a mean girl. Hayden, the football player with two left feet, is smitten with Callie and begins to tutor her in maths class. After an incident that leaves Hayden expelled, the two drift apart. Callie and Hayden reunite 3 years later at college, where Hayden is now on the college football team while Callie is struggling with the accident that killed her family.
This was a fun, easy read with interesting characters. Hayden is such a sweet MMC who wears his heart on his sleeve and Callie is such a complex character. I also enjoyed the author's writing style so I will definitely be continuing the series.

4 Forgiveness Crowns
I love College romance it’s one of my favorite troupes, so needless to say I was excited for this. Anna has created a wonderfully complex Enemies to Lovers romance that will have your heart aching. I love broken characters they bring so much more depth to stories for me and Anna has created a superb one in Callie.
Callie sucks in sharply, the soft wheezing sound filling the silence. And it’s like she sucked in all the air that’s between us because suddenly, I can’t breathe either.
I loved the journey that Callie had to take, this girl has gone through something so very terrible but she’s trying to get better. She has strength in spades but it’s hard for her to see that due to the type of person she was before. And after what happened to her, she very easily could have taken the easy way out, but she didn’t she chose her path because she knew she needed to and that in itself bleeds strength. I could only imagine how hard to was for her. I love characters that others would deem too broken and move on, these characters are my favorites because they have so much more to give if you just take the chance. Characters like Callie bring a refreshing view and dynamic to stories.
She slays me to my very core. Every look. Every word. It’s my undoing. She is my undoing.
Hayden (Hades) Watson is the star wide receiver with NFL goals on his mind. But what I like the most about him is the good guy you know he’s hiding underneath. You accept that something happened to make him this brooding jerk of a person. But each time he’s around Callie that other guy slowly gets pulled out to the surface. You want to see the guy that she knew back in high school because that guy is worth all the professional football players combined. They try to fight the connection that they have, each for their own reasons, but when your connection runs soul deep there is nowhere for you to go.
“Being with you…it makes me feel alive. Like for the first time in so long, I can finally breathe.”
I really enjoyed this story; Anna is a new author for me and I’m glad I took the chance. This story is complex and emotional with the ability to bring you to your knees. And even though at times it lagged a bit I was still enthralled with the story line and side characters. I can’t wait to see were she takes us next.

This is a bit of a disappointment for me. Not at all what I was expecting...
Anna B. Doe is a new to me author, and although this is the first book I've read by her, I couldn't put it against her that I don't end up loving this book. Kiss to Conquer is the first book in the Blairwood University series featuring a rising star in football on his way to NFL draft and a reformed 'it' girl from California. They reconnect in college after a traumatic incident that left them both scarred (literally and figuratively) and turned them against each other.
This is an enemies-to-lovers romance that I'd usually love, but somehow felt short for me. Halfway through reading, I felt like these characters somehow didn't find the closure they need in order to be with each other. It left loose feelings that ended up in miscommunication moving forward. Before we get there though, I would list few things I like, 1) it featured a disfigured/broken character (heroine) who learned the error of her ways from her past life; 2) When they do get together, it was explosive and I like the heat and chemistry it carried; 3) The push and pull of borderline hate and love (which I am always a sucker for).

Okay, so the things I hate?
1. The hero is a typical generic man slut. The things he did aren't crazy compared to some. But the way he was described in the book, I get that he's supposed to be this skinny kid turn sex-on-a-stick heartthrob, but he doesn't have to be such an asshole. He's constantly looking for hookups and is easy to sway when it comes to these things, even when he had 'supposed' feelings for the heroine. It's a personal thing, but I'd prefer my heroes to be celibate in love.
There was one scene when he was found getting down and dirty in a public library with a random chick and the next second he was all over the heroine... so, you can say my respect for him has been reduced to 0
2. I don't really like the characters that much, they did things that come across as too childish at times and I really expected more.
So, overall I didn't enjoy this book as much as I hoped. I'm a minority it seems since many people are hitting rave reviews on this, but coming from New Adult/ College romance lovers, I would say the author could do a better job on some parts.

Kiss to Conquer is a book that will conquer your heart. This is a raw and emotional story that will take hold and won't let you go.
I fell in love with Doe's writing with the Greyford High series. This book boasts the same easy reading experience. She has a writing style that is easy to latch onto. Her narration is warm and welcoming. She has a talent for bringing you into the story.
These characters were fantastic. I love that they were extremely realistic. They were not without flaws. They were so relatable and likable. It was easy to fall in love with them. I really loved their journeys in the book. They had some excellent depth and character development. The secondary characters in this book were intriguing and they added so much spark to the story.
I enjoyed the romance in this book. It is an enemies-to-lovers story that gets under your skin. I love that Callie and Hayden knew each other and were friends in high school. Their convoluted past made their romance feel that much more convincing. These two definitely had a connection and their chemistry together was off the charts.
Overall, this is a beautiful story about forgiveness and second chances. This story has realistic and flawed characters, an engaging plot, and lovely writing. I can't wait for the next book in this series! I am excited about Nixon and Yasmin's story.

I tried. I really did, but I couldn’t get into this book. I had to give at 54% because I was getting irritated with it. However, the other reviews on here seem overwhelmingly positive, so I guess I’m in the minority with this opinion.
Basic summary: Once upon a time, Callie Stewart and Hayden Watson went to high school together. They used to be friends, but then Callie betrays him and he hates her as a result. A few years later, they end up at the same college and that’s where the story begins. They despise each other and exchange a few taunts and harsh words. They try to avoid each other, but somehow always end up at the same place at the same time. Then, they start to soften towards each other and BOOM! Love happens.
Dislikes:
I found it incredibly hard to connect with Hayden. There was nothing all that appealing about the guy, except for his eight-pack. What else did he have going for him? Absolutely nothing. I tried to connect with the guy and it just didn't work out.
I was also bored throughout most of it. The beginning, especially, was difficult to read through. Nothing interesting seemed to be happening. There were so many pointless moments that could've been done without as they added nothing to the plot. It made the story unnecessarily long and unbearable to read (at least for me). I ended up skimming after I was 30% through becauses I was getting so fed up. However, other reviewers said they were never bored while reading so again, don’t take this review too seriously. I’m one of the only people who didn’t like it apparently.
The so-called chemistry that the characters kept talking about was nowhere to be found. Their connection felt forced at best, which made it nearly impossible to care for them as a couple.
There were also a bunch of moments that felt out of place. For example, when they got all up close and person with each other while he was on his way up to Tamara's dorm to sleep with her.
He mentioned multiple times that he didn’t want to touch her with a ten foot pole, so please explain to me why they’re .2 seconds away from making out. It didn’t make any sense. He didn’t want to be anywhere near her and then, he suddenly decides he wants to be inside her? I don’t buy it. One of my favorite things about enemies to lovers stories is the development in the relationship, but it was too sudden between Hayden & Callie, so it seemed unbelievable. This isn't even the only out of place moment in the story.
Likes:
I'm sure I'd be able to find more positives if I really tried, but I'm just going to stick to this one: Callie didn't let Hayden or anyone else walk all over her. Women are generally portrayed as the weaker sex, especially in romance novels, so it was refreshing to have a female lead that didn’t take any crap. When Hayden tried to hurt her, she tried to hurt him right back. An example takes place after they have an intense makeout session:
You go, girl! That moment brought me so much satisfaction.
Overall, I won’t be reading this ever again. I’ll look into other books by this author just to give her a fair chance. I did like some of the side characters, particularly Yasmin, so I might check out her book. If you do decide to read this book or have already read it, I hope you had better luck with it than I did :)

Anna B. Doe's 'Kiss To Conquer' reminded me heavily of Jamie McGuire's 'Beautfiul Distasrer', although this book was not remotely as bad, and ultimately funny in its absurdity as BD.
I think the book was too long for its own good - it was filled with pointless, clumsy small talk that could have been edited out without changing anything at all.
Also, I think the conflicts and resolutions were quite bad, unrealistic and immature.
I can see how people would like this story, but I just found myself zoning out most of the time or just rolling my eyes.

Kiss to conquer is book one in the new ‘Blairwood University’ series by the brilliant author Anna B. Doe. The story focuses on Callie and Hayden. Callie is new to the university, after suffering a terrible tragedy which has left her both scarred on the inside and the outside, she is trying to make a fresh start. Locking herself away at school seems to be the best choice for her, especially when she feels that she is unworthy and deserves to be punished for her past crimes. During her short time at school she runs into Hayden, a boy from her past who she did a mighty wrong to and boy is he not going to let her get away with being at his school!
Hayden is the wide receiver at the university and is hoping to become an NFL star. Thinking that he has put the past behind him, he is shocked to see his nemesis but not how he remembers her, but that’s not going to make him go easy on her in the slightest.
This is a beautifully written enemies to lovers book with a slow burn romance that grabs at you and doesn’t let you know, Both Callie and Hayden’s pasts are tragic, Callie’s more so as she seems to be reliving it day after day with a lot of guilt which she can’t seem to place anywhere else but on her shoulders. To make matters worse, she has always had a soft spot for Hayden but knows that he will never forgive her for what she did.
There are times throughout the story that Hayden can be really cruel to Callie and you kind of get it as a reader, but boy does it punch you in the heart and after you find out why he is that way, your heart kind of breaks for both of them and their situations as well as the secrets that come to light through snippets of their past in various chapters.
We really see the growth of these characters as the book goes along and their stories develop. There is a lot of angst within the story but also a lot of love, friendship and some fun times thrown in which lighten the story a little bit. The book is beautifully written and you want to know more about all of the characters that pop up in the book…I for one can’t wait to read the next book in this series!

This book was an intense and emotional read that I loved so much. It follows Callie and Hayden who know each other in high school, Callie was the popular cheerleader while Hayden was the boy from the wrong side of the tracks. Callie made a stupid impulse decision one day and it definitely had an negative effect on Hayden’s life, but Callie was just a naive and selfish teenager who didn’t understand actions have consequences and she suffers tremendous tragic that absolutely changes her outlook on life. My heart hurt for Callie and I understood why Hayden was so mad at her and didn’t want her around his college campus. Yes I said his campus because after high school Hayden transformed to the all American football god that ran the campus. Although I understood Hayden’s anger it still broke my heart when he lashed out at Callie because he has no clue what she had to endure, but once he does find out it changes everything. These two have suffered through so much in their lives and they don’t know how or if they can forgive themselves let alone each other to be together and if they can’t forgive can they even give the other their trust? This was intense but a beautiful read about learning to forgive not only others but sometimes one’s own self to be able to move forward.

Look, it was not exactly for me. But I still loved it.
I mean, Anna is my "go-to" when I want DRAMA, and there was definitely drama in this one. Did I want to kick both the FMC and MMC's asses while reading it? YES. But I also loved their story, and they broke my heart. Callie and Hayden are both scarred by their pasts. As they find their way back to one another, initially they only thought they would open old wounds, but they ended up healing and forgiving. I loved the intriguing plot and events of this book and the multiple different but loveable characters.
BUT... there was some "casual" misogynistic comments between the male charactes that I hated, and Hayden was a slut at first... do with that info what you will.

Molto bello l’inizio ma poi si perde proprio... troppa carne al fuoco non ben sviluppata, troppi comportamenti un po’ inspiegabili, un po’ approssimativo! Ma mi è piaciuta molto la scrittura, e un libro che mi ha coinvolto oer gran parte del tempo, sicuramente proverò gli altri

Una storia emozionante, che mi ha tenuta incollata alle pagine per capire il motivo del rancore di Hayden nei confronti di Callie, il dolore e il senso di colpa che ancora tengono Callie ancorata al passato, ma soprattutto il colpo di scena che non mi sarei mai aspettata, e che ha rischiato di separarli...

Such a great angst filled journey Hayden and Callie have taken me on. Having to deal with an ugly past, as they reconnect. The world the author creates is one in which you get immersed in and it doesn’t let up. There are no extra players in the book, it’s purely character and feeling driven. Told in dual POV you really feel as if you are part of the story.
