For the last two years, the past has haunted Addison, and now there’s nowhere left to hide. With a close betrayal ending in an attack on the night of her handfasting, Addison and her men must prolong completing the other mating bonds and rush toward Denver, which could be more dangerous than what they left.
But the past is not done with her yet.
While pack politics delay Sammie’s release to travel with them, painful truths are catching up to Addison. Ones that could change her whole world, and ones that could further deepen her trauma. Meanwhile, nightmares of a foreboding future plague her every night, and her son’s health is progressively declining, all pointing toward an end she doesn’t know how to stop.
Her three Shifters—the men she’s grown to love—have protected her thus far, but now, Addison needs to be ready to protect them
Haunted by Julian Rink I was honored to have been a part of the ARC team for book number two in the Amplifiers series. This story continued to follow Addison and her triangle through discovery of their relationships together and apart, her overcoming and recognizing triggers to then work through with her partners all while making plans for the future.
I really enjoyed this second book and series as a whole. I liked how the circumstances Addison has been through can mirror readers experiences in many ways since they are things people experience in everyday life. I also love how her triangle is written to be learning how to handle her triggers to make her feel the most comfortable and each partner is at a different understanding of those triggers so you see how someone with experience, someone with understanding of triggers and someone with little experience or understanding can come into play.
I would really recommend this series for anyone that likes supernatural fiction/romantasy, possibly even dark romance to an extent based off the trigger warnings for this series.
this was a great read! The FMC finally starts fighting against her PTSD, and getting stronger, which I loved. Sometimes the pace felt dragging, but not enough to affect the overall reading. we get more explanations on the magic, and Addie starts learning to control her magic better.
WE FINALLY GET SOME GOOD SPICE THANK GODDDD
i was fckn parched.
I was given this arc an exchange for an honest review, thank you, Jillian 🖤
Why did it take me 5 days to read a 380 page book? Because I kept falling asleep. Now, I'm a fantasy reader so the length of this book is half of what I'm used to and I just. couldn't. stay. awake. With that, it felt too long. So much of this book could've been edited out. The editor was def MIA for the first and second book with all the grammar and sentence structure problems, but that was the least of my worries with these books.
Like the first, the interactions between the characters was SO HARD to follow. Again, all the gasping, growling, panting, crying out, etc. It's a lot. I found myself having to back a paragraph or two to even grasp who was saying what. It was overall hard to follow.
I also have a bone to pick with Dec. WHYYYY does he get turned on when Addie blushes? Let me give you some context. Addie blushes a lot when she's having panic attacks and spiraling out (which is in about every chapter), and it arouses him. Uhhh. 🚩🚩🚩🚩
Again, Addie is more concerned about herself than her son. She does show up in a more mothering role in this book, but her own trauma still overshadows the emergency situation with her son. We did get, albeit very little, small glimpses of Addie sharing her thoughts and her mind with people. It's a tiny bit of growth, but it's still there.
There's going to be a third book, but I'm not sure I'll read.
eARC review. This was a great story, it is part of a series but I read this book as a standalone and understood it just fine. I really liked how all of the PTSD and other struggles the FMC went through were handled. They were neither overly dramatized or swept under the rug either which was very nice to see. I am definitely going to go back and read the first book in the series to see other aspects of this world. The pacing on this is a bit slow, but it doesn’t detract from the overall story and it does end on an interesting cliffhanger. I’m exited to see what the next book has in store for these characters.
A good follow-up to the first book. I love the exploration of Addy's past. I am also loving the tension between her and Kane. I was not a fan of the continued delay in reaching the pack lands to help the baby but I understand it. Declan is still my fave (big old scruffy teddy bear). I am hoping in the books to come that Addy is going to come into her own and begin to fight back. I am all for those who caused her and her men so much pain to get their dues. Fingers crossed! Well done. I will warn though that this book is filled with possible triggers so check trigger warnings before reading.
This book picks up right where the first left off but if you didn't read the first book recently, you might struggle to follow along as there are no call backs to previous events which makes it a little hard to follow. The story moves along at a decent speed. The magic is a little complicated and hard to follow but it could just be me. The story ends on a cliffhanger and I hope Addie gets her happy ending!
This 4-star book offers a riveting blend of suspense and spiciness as Addison confronts a haunting past, facing betrayal and danger. The storyline keeps you on the edge, eagerly anticipating each twist, while Addison's journey to protect her loved ones unfolds with emotional intensity.
