A runaway bride. A single-dad rancher. Who said opposites don't attract?
Perhaps applying to a Help Wanted ad in her wedding gown wasn't the best way to make a first impression on a job interview! But Kate Scott needed to escape the humiliation of her hastily called-off wedding. Cabot Dixon's Montana ranch, if not the most welcoming place in the West, seemed like the perfect place to keep a low profile.
Cabot was a rancher — not a couples' counselor! — and his past experiences with women (plus the dusty wedding dress) told him Kate was a runner. So when his young son, Tyler, attached himself to Kate and made not-so-subtle hints about wanting her as his mom, the single dad wondered what he'd opened himself up to... especially when he realized that he'd do anything to have the runaway bride by his side for keeps!

I enjoyed reading this book very much, It was well written and the characters were very real, I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoyed romance novels,
Runaway bride meets rancher who's been burned by a runaway wife. He takes her in, thinking she's a wounded stray and safe to look after. She's nothing of the sort, having plenty of money, but no time. She goes to work at the summer camp on his ranch to get some time to come back to an emotional equilibrium. Of course the inevitable happens (hey, it's a romance. Falling in love is gonna happen!) And there are issues and such. This story is on the tooth-decay end of the sweetness chart, so the issues are easily handled, and the angst is extremely minor. It's a sweet, enjoyable story.
Cute. Sweet. That's about it, I guess. I liked it and the attraction between the MC's was good, the son was cute and direct with what he wanted, the side characters were interesting enough that I want to read more from this collection and the side collections too, but this particular story seemed a bit too shallow. Nothing was really missing, but there just wasn't a punch either. So a solid 3 stars from me from not being outstanding, but not a total meh either.
"Southwick’s sensational Montana romance captivates from the first poignant runaway bride scene. Her emotionally vivid narrative brings unspoiled landscapes and small-town grapevines alive. But it’s her once-bitten, twice-shy hero, sassy heroine and the half-pint co-star who steal the show" (RT Book Reviews, 4 1/2 stars TOP PICK!).
