A misty and ghostly pale collection that feels like a whisper in your ear and a cool breeze, both sending a chill down your spine and tickling like a feather. It is dark and humorous at the same time, without ever leaving that atmospheric feeling of peering into another realm.

There are a lot of stories, some very short, others a bit longer, but all feel so unique and well thought out. I felt completely immersed in the worlds painted by the author, well narrated by Jerry Ozaniec. The stories are set in Edinburgh, a beautiful gothic setting, lending itself perfectly to the tales in this collection.

This is a collection perfect for the spooky months, when it’s darker outside and you just want to curl up with a book reflecting that ghastly mist outside.

Thanks to Crumps Barn Books for the audiobook and this is my honest opinion.

I picked this book up on a whim at Typrwronger Books and kept it in my purse for the duration of my trip, and it was honestly the perfect book to read during pub visits on cold, drizzly afternoons - really engaging and enjoyable read!

A mix of spooky & witty tales covering hosts, vampires and seances cleverly intertwined with the seasons. A little book to curl up in front of the fire with on a stormy night! The most memorable to me were Sea Maidens and An unwanted guest!

I have enjoyed that the short stories are all based around the moon. I think that's quite inspired by the author.
The stories that I found memorable where the Ice Maidens , Eternal Magic ( my favourite of the short stories ) , The Shadow and Blood Moon + Blood Moon - the prelude . These stories really caught my attention.
I have enjoyed how each story has explored the supernatural world, whether it be vampires , witches or ghost stories. I have always enjoyed supernatural fiction and though I read books more than short stories normally , i have enjoyed this one immensely. The writing is such a lovely easy style that the stories are so absorbing to read and magical for the imagination.
The illustrations that are also throughout the book are very stark, but I found that intriguing as it shows the moon in different stages of the lunar cycle . The illustrations are very atmospheric alongside the stories in a beautifully Gothic way.
