Whitney is torn when faced with the decision of choosing between mediocre success as a skater and the chance for big success playing a skater in a movie
This final book in the Silver Skates 1989/1990 YA pulp fiction series was one of the better books, as you see some actual character development from one of the most unlikable characters. That said, it also is another cheesy YA chick lit book, that always must focus on g-rated romance and ignore more pressing issues. The story of this book is that after completely sucking during their season, Whitney leaves her partner Brent (which should have been a relief, as Whitney sounds like an absolute nightmare of a person) after winning the role of a stunt double in a movie about figure skating. While on the movie set, she gets romanced by the slimy leading actor and gets her mojo back on the ice. It was awful, but I enjoyed tearing through these old books before Christmas. So two stars for the entire series.
