Its was boring. A lot of side quests that led to absolutely nothing. The authors also have the unpleasant tendency to start a threat without finishing it.
The banquet, that the local head of the slayer center wanted to house got canceled. We didn’t get to see Katerine again. The meting with the princes didn’t take place. Queen Lagerta left without anything happening and Alex didn’t help Arkship yet.
Instead we spent 3 chapters with a war against a planet of … squirrels. A war that also didn’t have a conclusion. I have a feeling the authors aren’t gonna finish the plot as well.
The political problems inside the Empire didn’t get talked about. The duke that Alex is waging war against didn’t get defeated. Oh and description of the book is completely misleading. Nothing happened with the people from the Steppe and the emperor hasn’t even been mentioned in the book.
Alex biological family also didn’t have an appearance. Additionally the Mc didn’t really make any significant gains in this book. His ring is the color white now.

Instead, a new enemy got introduced towards the end, for some reason hellbent on destroying the Mc. Why? Weren’t there already enough unfinished enemies and projects? I feel like the story is loosing its direction.

You guessed it! Another ARC!
I waffled between four and five stars on this one, and because I couldn't make up my mind it got the lower score. There is a reason that my subconscious would not let me give this five stars.
I think it was because I felt like this book moved side ways instead of forward. I love the characters enough though that I read this in one day. I finished it around 1:30am. I started it around 6pm.
Anyway, I look forward to more, but not the wait.

I received a review copy of this book.
Great story telling as usual. We didn't get to see a lot of the background characters much in this one, but there were some significant developments, so you won't want to skip this one if you've been following along. We're also introduced to a new enemy at the very end of the book. The fact that the enemy doesn't know a thing, and chose to be an enemy is only icing on the cake. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

very good!

As the series progresses it just continues to be books I just cannot put down. The “Peppy Pets” are fantastic; Wolf and the guys are great side characters; Anna is charming, witty, and smart. Shnoop is wonderful. A lot of action and adventure, a lot of enemies to defeat. Pookie lives for being comic relief. I think. lol
But where is the Emperor….?!? I cannot wait to find out.

A lot of side quests

I was sad that there were so many translation problems this time.

Criticism and comments

While I liked the plot in general I found it bizarre that there weren't more consequences after the attack on Androsov jun and thought the Mongolian Marginot line to be ridiculous.

I found it sad that there weren't more encounters of the different attackers so far.

A plot hole and error fest, it gets worse as this one progresses. As if the author got stoned -extra addled- around the halfway mark.

On top of,.. just garbage paragraphs the author looses the plot entirely around the 75% mark.

The wrap-up or ending of this instalment is cool though I will give them that.

If in doubt charge straight ahead.

Xander continues to grow stronger as does his family , the for at the heart of the government appears a lot worse than anybody suspected and Xander manages to collect several more powerful enemies and Odin challenges Wolf for most deadly ally.

Lost 2 stars for NOT writing a Recap.

I think every reader needs to start doing this to force authors to write a quick Recap chapter, which readers can skip if they remember, and those who don't won't stop reading the series.

disappointing

This is one of my favorite series, but this installment left a lot to be desired. Very little happened during the course of the book. The action was lacking. The MC didn’t get stronger. I hope the next one is better.

Another good book in the series. Alex is still building up his manor and land. We can see some very loyal followers of Alex.

Odin is cool

Odin's a great addition to his animal collection. Can't wait to see what happens next. He needs to get rid of some of these enemies

Lots of action

There is so much going on in so many different directions that it’s a real balancing act to get to all the problems. And some new powers are exposed by Galaxius.
