All I wanted was to look Maya in the eye and make her answer for what she did. One Halloween weekend. One crumbling plantation outside New Orleans. That's it.
I'd already lost everything that mattered. The baby bled out of me on the bedroom floor while my husband stood there and called me a whale. Divorce papers showed up at the hospital. He never visited once. Months later, I was still pumping milk for a child who didn't make it, still heavy with what my body refused to let go, still running a flower shop that smelled like gardenias and grief.
Maya invited me like nothing happened. She had no idea I knew the truth. I said yes because I wanted answers.
The plantation sat at the end of a road no one used anymore, swallowed by overgrown farmland and trees that bent like they were trying to keep people out. The locals had abandoned it years ago. We should have asked why
There's a thing in that house. It watches before it moves. It learns you before it takes you. And when the Creeper finally showed itself, tall, wrong, grinning with a fanged mouth that doesn't belong on anything from this world, my friends ran.
I could have run. I didn't. The creature looked at me like it already knew me. Like my grief, my body, the empty ache I carry every single night had been calling to it long before I set foot on that land.
It wants me alive. That's more than I can say for the others.
The thing that keeps me awake long after the screaming stops isn't what happened to my friends.
It's what the beast makes me feel. Insatiable — and it's devouring me from within.
Insatiable is Book 1 of The Primal Sins Collection. Each book can be read as a standalone. MF dark monster romance. HEA. No cliffhanger.
Sephyrra watched Nightmare on Elm Street with her mom as a kid. She was terrified. But she didn't hate Freddy. That was the confusing part. Then came Beauty and the Beast, and when the Beast turned into a prince she felt cheated. She wanted him to stay the Beast. Then she saw Dracula take Lucy in werewolf form and that was it for her. Villains over heroes. Creatures over men. She found her people on Tumblr, spent years writing the love stories no one was publishing, and eventually decided to publish them herself. She writes dark romance and monster romance with plus size heroines over 35. The monster stays monster. The scenes don't fade to black.
Ok, so this one was interesting, but also just fine!? It could have been executed better. 🤔
Like it was all over the place, sadly. But extra points because I caught it as a freebie, yay! 🤩
I'm not sure if this was a horror with a splash of romance or a romance with quite a few horror / gore scenes 😂😂.
I would have loved to have a better balance between the horror parts and the romance / spicy part of their relationship. Because it was so underdeveloped. I wanted more of their connection, more of their HEA, more of everything on this side.
Why was he trapped in that house, specifically?
Why and how was she lactating so much!?? It's unbelievable. But also, he's a monster, so yeah, ok, I'll just accept this part as well. 😂🤷♀️
So, this one rewritten as a full-on novel, with more details on the creature and their evolving relationship, would be amazing! Also, what happened in that year he went missing? I need details!!!
- horror romance Novella - does contain Trigger Warnings - love the dedication "To all the women over 35, plus-size, and absolutely fabulous—this one’s for you. For those who know their worth, embrace their curves, and dive headfirst into the world of monster romance. And to those who watched Jeepers Creepers and thought the chase was a little too sexy—this is especially for you. Because let’s be real—why go for the ordinary when a good monster love story is so much more fun?" - that was so good! As it was dark Spooky romance which made it perfect for Halloween - I love the couple - I can't wait for book 2 to come out
Insatiable by Sephyrra is a captivating mix of monster romance and survival horror that is clearly influenced by the lore of Jeepers Creepers (2001). The novel follows the usual plot of slasher films from the 1980s: a group of friends meets at an abandoned house and soon realizes that something monstrous is hunting them down one by one.
This premise enables the story to delve into the intersection between horror and dark romance. However, despite its compellingtopic, the execution ultimately feels uneven.
▶ What works ↓
✔ A strong survival-horror atmosphere 🔪: the novel’s greatest strength lies in its setting and tone. The abandoned house, the characters’ isolation, and the gradual escalation of violence evoke the familiar rhythm of slasher cinema 🔪🩸 The narrative clearly draws inspiration from Jeepers Creepers, capturing the dread that arises as the group slowly realizes they have become prey. Subtle visual elements reinforce this homage, particularly the scarecrow standing watch over the deserted property. This image unmistakably echoes the unsettling iconography associated with the Creeper🖤🥀
✔ Archetypal characters used deliberately: the group of friends follows recognizable horror archetypes typical of the slasher genre. This is an intentional narrative strategy, since each character serves a distinct structural function within the survival‑horror framework, enabling the tension to build organically as the group diminishes 🦇💀🧡
✔ An interesting fusion of horror and monster romance: the Creeper is a character who works both as antagonist and object of fascination ‹𝟹 This dual role is quite different from other monster romances, where the main characters stand as perfect partners for their respective lovers. Here, we have a real monster who murders his lover’s friends and is genuinely savage💀
▶ What doesn’t work ↓
✘ A powerful backstory that is not fully realized
⚠︎ Mild spoilers regarding the protagonist’s past ⚠︎
The main character has endured infidelity and the trauma of an abortion. These experiences provide a strongnarrative foundation and suggest the potential for a complexpsychological portrait. In spite of that, the relationships between the characters ultimately weaken the narrative, largely because there is so little interaction among them ✖
▶ In conclusion ↓
Insatiable by Sephyrra succeeds most clearly as an atmospheric experiment that merges slasher horror with monster romance . Its strongest asset is the survival-horror environment, which effectively captures the cinematic tension of Jeepers Creepers.
After all, the Creeper may be insatiable… but by the final page, the reader might still feel just a littlehungry for somethingdeeper 🩸📚
Bais :D

The Catalog: F/M, monstrous MMC, fat FMC, FMC in her late 30s, trauma, a weekend in a haunted mansion, revenge, Jeepers Creepers vibes, lactation kink
TWs: cheating (by an ex), miscarriage, violence, gore, murder
Synopsis: After the ultimate betrayal, Rose decides she needs to confront the friend that ruined her life by accepting a invitation to spend Halloween weekend at a haunted mansion. However, when they arrive, it becomes clear that there is something very sinister going on.
Thoughts: Honestly, a pretty decent, quick & spicy, monster erotic horror novella. I enjoyed the story more than I expected, and found myself pretty obsessed with Creeper, the monster.
The only reason I didn’t rate higher is because of something to do with paraplegic representation (I don’t want to spoil it, but I thought it was a little grossly handled).
Aight, so it seems i previously only had access to the sample for this novella; no wonder it felt incomplete. I've now read the whole thing and....*sigh*. I luv them 😌
------------------
Wait that's it? Where's the rest?? This reads like an incomplete intro. Just as the story kinda starts, the book ends. What about Maya? Does the bitch get what she deserves? Does MC tell her fam? Do things with the scarecrow progress? Do they live? Are they even in danger or is the monster just a hungry bastard out for some milk? Sephyrra is rude for leaving me wanting 😒
Hmmm. I normally don’t read anything horror, but I was intrigued.
While I didn’t love this, I also didn’t hate it. It was a little cringy at times, had a few gory scenes, and the whole “feeding” thing was…odd (for me.) Looks like a lot of readers enjoyed this, so it could just be a *me* thing.
Even though the story sometimes felt disjointed, it didn’t make me want to stop reading. There were parts I did enjoy. Definitely different than anything I’ve read though. But I’m a monster romance fan so yeah…bring on the Creeper, kinks and all.
Sephyrra was a new-to-me author before this story. I’m also intrigued by Drenched, so I’ll be giving that one a try.
Ummmm, excuse me, what in the world was that and why did I love it so much!? 🤣 I was hesitant at the beginning, but by the end, I was actually having some tears! Very fast-paced but straight to the point but in a very good way! Never would've thought I'd swoon over "creeper" in the end! Definitely recommend 👌
I love me a Halloween time monster book and I love a gore filled murder house ❤️🔥this is perfect for spooky season and I loved the ending it was really nice also props to the FMC great character development she really leveled up lol
Horror Romance Halloween novella Jeepers Creepers reimagining Haunted mansion Gore/Murder Revenge Plus Size FMC MCs in their late 30s Lactation Kink HEA

Insatiable by Sephyrra was a surprisingly good horror romance that struck a perfect balance between its chilling horror and its weirdly romantic elements. I honestly enjoyed this story far more than I anticipated. So many novellas I’ve read tend to rush through things and leave me wishing the author had taken a few more pages to flesh everything out. But Insatiable didn’t have that problem at all as it felt complete and purposeful. The fast pacing actually worked to the story’s advantage, amplifying the tension and horror rather than cutting it short.
This story follows Rose, a woman who has experienced tremendous loss and betrayal at the hands of people she once loved. Determined to confront the backstabbing friend who ruined her life, she accepts an invitation to spend Halloween weekend at a supposedly haunted mansion. But when she and her companions arrive, it quickly becomes clear that there’s something far more sinister lurking within the crumbling halls... and its hungry.
What I loved most was how the story never dragged. It didn’t need to be longer, and I appreciate that. The horror hit fast and hard, while the romance offered a much-needed balance, softening the terror and ending in a surprisingly sweet and satisfying way. I honestly didn’t expect to love a Jeepers Creepers–inspired smut ode as much as I did, but Sephyrra completely won me over.
Rose was such a fully fleshed out main character: flawed, traumatized, and real. Watching her go through literal and emotional hell only to come out the other side with a genuine happily ever after felt rewarding. The inclusion of the lactation kink was also surprisingly well-integrated into the plot. As a mom of two who’s breastfed and pumped, I found myself relating to Rose on a deeper level. It was a unique and meaningful turning point transforming the Creeper’s hunger from wanting to eat her to wanting to EAT her, if you catch my drift, and it fit the story better than I ever would’ve expected.
What really stood out to me, though, was the poetic symbolism in how this taboo element was used. The same thing that sustains life for babies (milk) becomes the thing that brings a spark of life and humanity to a literal monster. It’s such a clever, haunting metaphor: nourishment and creation transforming destruction and hunger. That layer of symbolism elevated the story beyond its surface-level horror and smut, making it unexpectedly moving and thought-provoking.
And let's talk about the atmosphere. Sephyrra really brought the horror to life with vivid descriptions of the decaying mansion and the terrifying "Creeper" himself. I am a self-proclaimed chicken when it comes to horror, but the moody atmosphere she created stuck with me, and I can still picture some of those creepy details. It’s a great spooky season read for anyone looking for a blend of horror, romance, and a little bit of taboo kink. Just be aware that the lactation kink is a key part of the story, so if that’s not your thing, it might not be for you.
Overall, Insatiable was a solid mix of horror, romance, and unexpected twists, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Highly recommend if you’re open to something different and daring this spooky season.
In regards to the trigger warnings: The cheating/infidelity is NOT between the two main characters. I was glad that it was mentioned within the first few pages as something her ex husband did, so I didn't have that hanging over me for the rest of the book. Cheating monsters? Neverrrr. Otherwise, there's some breast milk-drinkin', lots of gore, some insta-love. It's just a ridiculous (in the acceptable way?) lil horror romance, so I didn't read too much into any of it. Nothing about the content was particularly shocking to me, even if an individual facet of it isn't my "thing."
So, this was a good read overall with some decent plot groundwork, but there were SO. MANY. inconsistencies that had me confused for a moment or so when they popped up. To name a few:
-FMC Rose cutting her foot on "the broken vase" which was never mentioned at any point before then (and I double checked this by searching in the ebook) -The Creeper tearing her shirt open just a page after he'd already done so (like in the same way/spot) -The Creeper's wings are first described as leathery, but then feathers are mentioned. So are they batlike or birdlike?? -Rose runs out of a room and down the hall while he chases her after killing Maya, but after he catches her, he throws her "on the bed." There were several instances where the characters were mentioned very clearly being in one room, like the living room, and then going into an room or doorway that wasn't mentioned before, like the author meant to describe where they went and just left out three sentences. -The Creeper has to go back to wherever he came from (specifically states it's NOT hell but some place different, worse) after Halloween or else he'll lose himself and drag her with him or something, but then he just appears a year later saying he "left hell" and can stay with her. This is left completely unexplained. -There were a few times where it was obvious that paragraph order was adjusted, because dialogue or narration came before what should have been the preceding information.
There were many others, and a variety of spelling/grammar errors. I can't believe anyone read through this even a single time before it was published because all of this was glaringly obvious.
I was interested enough in seeing how it all played out, though, and it was a short/quick enough read that I just pushed past those mistakes. I think this would have benefited from being a bit longer so that we could learn a bit more about the Creeper, as well as how he left hell. It definitely would have benefited from much-needed proofing.
I was glad that Rose had one person (Katie) truly in her corner.
Overall, I enjoyed this story, but it needs polishing slightly.
What I liked.
It dives straight into emotion with the heartache of experiencing loss and cheating—Which makes me feel for the FMC, Rose, who is a likeable character.
However, we are supposed to understand that she’s plus sized, and have always been, judging by how she described herself as soft and round. But then phoenix, her cheating spouse makes the excuse that she let herself go and is like a whale—no longer attractive to him because she is pregnant. But he married her when plus size?… so that was just a tad confusing.
Her hard beginning draws you in and makes you want to continue, just to see how she overcomes the challenges of her life.
Then cue the Halloween gathering at a haunted plantation. The description of her ‘friends’ and how they all behave is great. The author makes you truly hate some of these characters with how they’re described, which is fab. (Because then revenge is sweet)
It goes pretty fast paced once Rose enters the house, which is great for a novella as it doesn’t linger needlessly on details not needed.
That said, when she does meet the creature, I’d have loved more between them, the spice—their interactions, it felt a little rushed. It feels like they sort of fell for each other pretty instantly and had no build up.
The plot for me, is overall is good, but it missed some details that I feel needed to be explained. Near the end, it mentions the house catching on fire, but how and when did the fire start?
I enjoyed the story. A good quick read.

Insatiable contains triggering situations such as violence, death, murder, abuse, infidelity, explicit sexual content, lactation kink, miscarriage, emotional trauma (including the loss of a child), dub con, body image issues, supernatural themes, substance use and power imbalance.
Insatiable is a horror romance novel that also explores themes of a monster romance, horror plot, and discovering yourself again.
Insatiable is the first book in the 'The Primal Sins Collection' but the books can be read separately, they don't follow on from each other.
I rated this book 4* due to the character developments and the pinch of a plot.
What was meant to be a spooky Halloween retreat for Rose and her friends turned into a descent into terror when the Creeper becomes fixated on Rose. Still grieving from a tragic miscarriage, Rose found herself at the mercy of the Creeper's dark obsession.
As the night dragged on, Rose's friends realized that they were trapped, and she was forced to confront the Creeper's unholy hunger. Would she find a way to escape, or succumb to his evil desires?
I absolutely loved Rose, I related to her so much, due to her toxic ex, and poor choice in friends... I love how she develops as a character to not longer tolerating their poor behaviour as the book progresses.
I'd highly recommend this book to those who enjoy monster romance books with a whole load of spice and murder.
Hold on tight because this chilling, seductive tale will have you at the edge of your seat and leave your heart racing! Imagine heading out for a night of harmless Halloween fun with your friends, only to have things take a dark and unexpected turn in ways you never thought possible. The haunted mansion backdrop is classic, but what lurks in its shadows? Oh, it’s something far more intense and magnetic than any of them ever bargained for.
Our protagonist quickly finds herself the focus of something... or someone... with a hunger that is both terrifying and strangely irresistible. The tension crackles in every page, making you question if you’d run or let yourself be drawn into this dangerously alluring game of cat and mouse. The chemistry is electrifying, the mystery keeps deepening, and you’ll definitely be hooked, wondering how far one can go before giving in to the darker, thrilling desires.
Not for the faint-hearted, this novel blends fear, obsession, and temptation, all wrapped up in one unforgettable night. Prepare yourself for an exhilarating ride that blurs the lines between horror and passion. For mature audiences only—because once the tension breaks, things heat up in ways that are scorching.
So I see what the other reviews mean by saying this is very gory and dark. I agree it feels maybe a little too gory for the short length of the book but honestly there didn’t feel like much detail in this book on what was happening on page. It was more of a psychological focus for the FMC on what was going on and what she was feeling. I wouldn’t even consider this spicy at all as nothing is graphic. So maybe 1.5/5 🌶️ for me.
If there had been more descriptions of the spicy scenes I probably would have rated it 5/5 ⭐️ honestly. The breast feeding kink didn’t bother me at all and I found it endearing that what brings life to babies brings more humanity to monsters (at least that’s what I think the author was going for…), but I also am not one to have any triggers other than some heavy BDSM stuff.
Overall good quick dark romance to start off spooky season!
3.75 stars rounded up to 4 for this horror-romance experience 🖤 I’ll be honest I didn’t know what to expect with this sub-genre but it was a wild ride 🎢 there were plenty of wonderfully creepy moments, slasher death scenes, and even a HEA (I was genuinely worried there wouldn’t be one of these). And you know what? It hit the Halloween spot perfectly 🎃
I wish we’d gotten to see more of Rose’s transformation in the year after her experience with creeper, because she does appear to have had a ton of character growth 🤌🏼 and I would’ve loved to have read the creeper’s perspective or seen his growth after his escape from hell🔥Buuuuut it’s a novella. And for a novella this pacing is mostly top notch 👏🏼👏🏼
The spice is also 🌶️🌶️🌶️ with a lactation kink 👀
TLDR; This is a whole ass experience 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Insatiable follows our FMC, Rose, as she attends a Halloween event with her 'friends', one of whom was sleeping with her husband. Rose plans to go to the spooky halloween house, confront her friend, and get closure. Little does she know, the house hosts a 'Creeper' - a monster from Hell who is unable to control his urges every halloween and goes on a slasher spree.
I was engrossed in this book and loved how besotted the Creeper was with Rose. This book boasts tropes of lactation and primal kink. Trigger warnings include loss of pregnancy and cheating (not between the MMC and the FMC).
This book doesn't rate higher as it does have a few minor inconsistencies (i.e. the Creeper rips her shirt on one page, then again on the next page, then suddenly she is in a dress) and for how neatly everything as tied up in the end so quickly.
This was a wild, quick, spicy and interesting read! I was t really sure what I was getting into when I started but I actually really enjoyed this.
I do have to say I’m not sure how I feel about the breast milk as a source of his energy that he sucks from her and also ends up being a turn on for her. I’m not into that necessarily, maybe because I’m a mother with a 7 month old who’s breast feeding but still, that part I don’t think was for me. But the rest yes!
A spicy, horror romance short, this book delivered exactly what it was supposed to.
A group of ‘friends’ ends up at an old, supposedly haunted house for few nights stay. Drinks are poured and true feelings come out, when they all decide they want to go for a walk outside on the property. They find an interesting scarecrow in a corn field but there’s something off about it. Our FMC, and others are chased but this monster, who turns out to be out MMC and he’s quite insatiable in more than one way.
It wasn’t my favourite shot spicy novel but I did enjoy it none the less!
What a read and a great way to start the Halloween season.
I’d not read this author before this book, and I will absolutely be looking into their backlist -and from what I’m seeing there may be several to choose from.
Insatiable was a gory, nasty read and I gobbled it up in one sitting. Rose and her heartbreak was written with thought. I absolutely felt for her and was rooting for her -whatever she wanted, I wanted her to get.
The story arc and plot were well written and page turning. What was going to happen? How far will the author push this? What about the cause of Rose’s heartbreak, will I get…. Will SHE get closure? Satisfaction? Revenge?
I was satisfied and will definitely be looking for more erotic horror, from this author.
First of all, the title. It's as generic for the genrè as it gets. You search Insatiable on Amazon and you find a dozen titles. But anyway, it is exactly what it sounds: a spicy monster romance. The story of Rose, a woman who has had her heart broken into pieces and who survives with therapy only. When the halloween getaway, that she thought would give her the closure she needed, turns into a sinister slasher fest, her pain and her wounds make sure she emerges on the top. It is a simple enough story with mostly clear cut red shirt type characters. Good enough for a single sitting read, even for those who might just be exploring the genrè. For a novella, it is good enough to recommend and I, for one, am interested in reading this author's other works.
Don't think, just read! Sometimes you need a book where it's easy, no bells or whistles. Just random monster smut to get you through a tough day and Insatiable by Sephyrra hit that mark with me.
It was everything I didn't know I wanted and I was so there for it. I actually worried about myself for the blood lust and anger I felt at those that had wronged Rose and looked forward to their end 😬😅 I do love a good bit of revenge.
It was an easy read, it was dark, it was dirty and I liked the characters and the writing. Though I would have loved to see some chapters from the "Creepers" POV. I actually could read more about these characters 😊
This book?!!! I can't believe I actually sat down and read this one during my free time in class in under 30 minutes like 😭 Girlll I've never read a book that fast before. it hooked me from the very beginning and it's been a long time since I have read something like this. Also, the fact that I'm a fan of Jeepers Creepers like well. . . hear me out. (Don't judge me) but anyway this book, this is it! I love it. The story and characters and I love the plus size FMC rep and Rose is an amazing woman. I love her already. So, if you're down to have a quick read this month, grab this book and I swear it's so good especially if you like monster romance with a twist. 🖤✨
i've got to split the difference, i guess. this was a FIVE STAR story up until the thing starting talking & crying & professing his love... under normal circumstance, that would be great, but for this particular instance it was *so* very much barf. ONE STAR BARF. i wish it couldnt talk. i wish it would've stayed dark & gorey. she absolutely should've left with some stockholm syndrome shit & came back to the house the next year... but what was written was terrible. the vibe was all over the place. it starts out super dark & ends up rainbow sprinkles. no, thank you. very disappointed.
I love the idea of this book, taking a creature and making it your own. Although, I feel as though there should have been more into the story. I can't put my finger on it but I feel as if it's missing something..
Overall it was a good storyline, including the backstory putting me in my feels. The writing is really good and there's never a dull or boring moment in this book.
I ate this book up and I couldn’t put it down. I didn’t know what to expect as this was my first foray into actual monsters but I was hooked. This book is a short read but great if you want to dip your toe into the world of monsters. Never thought I would think of a book as gruesome but heartwarming. I will definitely be reading more from this author. Be sure to give the tw’s a read though first.
I've honestly never had the opportunity to read a book from Sephyrra so this was a treat of its own!
Loved the idea. Loved the creativity. Plenty of plot for sure. It could've used more behind it but the whole creature from Hell falling for a human was soul crushing. In a good way.
It kinda reminded me of the movie Jeepers Creepers! But add spice and voila! This makes for a quick spooky read!
Monster. Slight horror Halloween. Lactation Miscarriage (start of the book) Stars 3.75 spice 2 I think this book needed to be longer. I loved the theme and the characters. Unfortunately, it's a short story. It certainly gets it all in there and is a very quick read. I would read this again if it was further developed or a sequal was written.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Honestly, this book took me by surprise! Especially with the Creeper character! I never thought I'd say this, but Jeepers Creepers can actually be... likeable? Sephyrra somehow made it work, blending creepy vibes with charm in a way that kept me hooked. The tension, the romance, and those unexpected twists made this a book I couldn’t put down. Definitely a fresh take on the genre! And the KINK!!!!!! I never thought.. I'd like.. but I think I'll need more books related to it.
