Stealing Ronan wasn’t the plan. I’d never imagined I’d steal a boyfriend from my sister, but when I saw him strutting to my couch with his perfect body, gorgeous face, and that mouth—God, that mouth, it was like he was plucked from my wettest dreams and brought into my life just for me.

Lusting after a straight guy who’s dating my sister is a problem in itself, but the bigger problem comes when he’s invited on a family trip with us for Christmas. Just as I thought I was doing a pretty good job ignoring his soft lips and curious gazes, we’re hit with a furious blizzard, leaving me and Ronan locked up together. Alone.

We’re only snowed in for two days, but things heat up quickly, because it turns out I’m not the only one with a fascination.

Ya know, I almost DNF'ed this, because the overall writing in this story....could definitely be improved. It just felt very sophomoric most of the time.

Buttt, I am glad I continued, because despite the writing style, I enjoyed these two together, and Ronan and Renzo kept me invested when otherwise, I wouldn't have been. I wasn't sure if they would, but giving this one more chance payed off.

As I've always said, if the characters, relationships, the chemistry, can hold up against the plot/story, then I'm happy to read something. If it's the other way around, not so much. But it's really the characters and relationships that pull me in.

Now, Ronan and Renzo (and I wish the author had just gone with saying Lorenzo the whole book, because two characters that have names that start with the same letter and have the same amount of letter in it can sometimes be easy to misread) weren't like...the stuff made of legends or anything, and the development of their relationship was definitely rushed, so I didn't love them so much as to pull my rating up any higher than 3 stars.

But without Ronan and Renzo being so interesting and fun to read, I would have either DNF'ed this, or given this a lower rating.

They saved my enjoyment of this story. Because otherwise the story just felt....like someone's first attempts at writing fic. Which, there's nothing wrong when it's fic, but for a published piece of work, it just leave a lot to be desired.

The characters, eventually, felt a little more three dimensional, but at first they felt two dimensional with not a lot of depth.

Renzo just seemed like a perpetual horndog crushing on his sisters "boyfriend" and Ronan was the sweet and sexy but virginal guy. There wasn't a whole lot of depth to the story, the characters, and their interactions. That did eventually change - not by much, but still enough - that it felt more well rounded and interesting, but it took a bit to get there. Even by the end, they still weren't as well rounded as they could have been.

Also I was expecting a little more taboo-ishness about it all. But it turns out that Ronan is never really Vi's - Renzo's sister - boyfriend at all. It just makes it all too easy, and the forbidden-ness aspect of the story that the blurb promised was basically non-existent, and was definitely solved easily before the 40% mark in the book.

It just didn't create a lost of stakes - one of the reasons I was considering DNF'ing this - and I was left with a sense of disappointment. After that it just became about their romance and Ronan struggling with coming out.

Which is all well and good, and interesting story for sure, especially when you like the two characters, but it was still a let down from what the blurb promised, and it just made any tension that was even just a little bit there in the first place go wayyy down to nonexistent. It wasn't exciting.

Not that I needed Ronan to cheat on his girlfriend with her brother, but there could have been that UST, and. them being all "it's wrong, we can't" and maybbeee kissing before Ronan breaks up with Vi or something, just a little bit of that "omg it's so wrong, we can't, but I want you so bad" stuff. But it all just works out fine and easy and it takes away the complications, the potential drama, of the story. It just left me feeling disappointed.

But...despite it's problems, it was still enjoyable enough for me to keep going. I still liked it, still thought Ronan and Renzo had enough chemistry to keep reading.

But, this definitely isn't anything better than a generic romance. Fun to read, somewhat enjoyable, but not much more than that.

I leave it up to you guys on whether you want to give it a shot or not. It was good enough for me, but maybe you'll like it even more than me, or even love it.

It just wasn't that much of a win for me, in the end.

A Contemporary MM New-Adult Romance with Forbidden Attraction, Sweet Crushes, Snowbound Truths, First times, Overall Low Drama (some intense scenes!) & a gorgeous HEA.
I was anticipating this book hard, read it ASAP! Renzo & Ronan were so sweet, I Love'em!! Renzo's fam & friends were awesome❤. I liked the subplots of story which'll lead the next books. DEVOURED this book in 4hrs, Novella style but packed a Punch!

Both guys are hot & Build + go to Michigan College, Will make a damn Sexy couple!
Lorenzo "Renzo"; Charming, Sunshine, Caring, Flirty; is 20yr old. He has a cool younger sis-Violet, Loving Parents, Fun Friends & Lives his life in style. He's been out as Gay since 12.
Ronan; Quiet, Sweet, Cute; is 19yr old, just moved to Michigan for college & Plays basketball. He's Violet's Boyfriend (or is he?) & a virgin...until Renzo😉. His parents are religious & his dad isn't much accepting, so What if Ronan's actually Gay but closeted?
There are things about these two that we find along the story, which play big parts...so I'll let you find'em!

Renzo & Ronan met at Ronan+Vi's 1st date. The heat b/w R+R is Fiery & instant, As Days passed, Crush developed. But Renzo won't make a move on his sister's "Supposedly Straight" boyfriend. BUT when a Christmas Trip takes a turn, Leaving Renzo & Ronan snowbound alone together, Truths are exposed. Would it be stealing, if Ronan wants to be stolen?

Nothing happened b/w Ronan+Vi, nothing Will...Ronan's utterly Intrigued by Renzo. Making a move now is so easy, but they don't wanna hurt Vi...But what if Vi's ok with Them together? I love how cool & Accepting Vi is, with truth!
Afterwards, Both R's time at the cabin gets blazing!😍 Let just say Renzo teaches Ronan ALL ABOUT sex😉. Feelings grew, Some people knew. But Ronan still feared coming out to everyone. So back home, they sneak around. But for how long?
~Phone calls & telling truth, Free time Exploring, First times, Fam Fun, Walk in Dex, more than a fling, Hope, Home & Secrets, New year's Eve, Ex back *Sigh*, Talks & Realisations, best presents *Swoon*...

When Renzo gets a Blast from the past, It leads to him & Ronan realising just how deep their feelings are, how losing eachother will hurt. No time to waste, it's time to be free...to love.
~Coming out to parents, disaster & support, Free to love, Months pass, Renzo's birthday, I love yous & Move in together, HEA!
I really hate Ronan's dad, btw, His mom is a sweetie. I love that Ronan found an accepting home with Renzo's family! That Ending & epilogue were beautiful❤. Loved seeing these two Happy!
P.S. We're gonna get books for all of Renzo's friends *Yay!*. I can see Dex, Renzo's childhood bestie, feels something for Vi (& maybe Vice versa?). So excited for their book!

After reading the blurb, I had some expectations about how this story would turn out.
Unfortunately it didn't work out the way I thought (and hoped) it would.

First of all it was the writing style that I had to get used to. It felt a bit too easy? Too immature? I don't really know how to make sense of what it was that troubled me. But, I was curious enough to keep reading and eventually I got used to it.

I had quite a hard time liking Renzo. He seemed a bit too much of a sex driven teenager, immature and two dimensional. Ronan at least seemed to be more mature, but I think he also could have been more fleshed out.

I had expected some more longing, an unbearable tensity between Renzo and Ronan for not being allowed to be attracted to one another. But instead it appeared Ronan wasn't really Renzo's sisters' boyfriend, so the forbidden factor wasn't really there. And once that was cleared out, the two of them had no boundaries as to experimenting.
Their relationship felt rushed. It wasn't made clear what it was that turned their attraction into love. It was said they had had long talks during the time they were snowed in, but we didn't witness them. It was mainly sex we saw them having. Not that there's something wrong with that, but I believe it takes something more to turn lust into love.
After they started their experimenting, the rest of the story was more about how Ronan was still closeted and how his parents would deal with his coming out.

But, despite these little annoyances, I did rate this story 3 stars, which seems appropriate. There was enough interest to keep me reading. It was an easy read, the chapters were short and hardly any angst.
I think a lot of readers will enjoy this, and I'm still curious enough to read the next mm romance in this series.

This book saved me!! I tried to get into at least 10 different books today and none of them were catching my attention. I recently discovered this author and thought I’d try another book by them and I was instantly sucked into this story and finished it in one sitting!

I really enjoyed the way the chapters were written in this book where there were groupings of chapters from each character’s POV. I liked how we got to know the characters more all at once! This was such a fun book to read and was exactly the kind of book I was looking for in my current mood. A fun story, with high heat and minimal angst.

Renzo and Ronan were great characters and I loved how they formed a connection right away. Ronan was involved with Renzo’s sister and I thought the way that dissolved for Renzo to move in was perfect! I’m so happy that Renzo’s sister and his family and friends were there for both of them!

I absolutely recommend this story and look forward to reading the other MM books in the series!

Ew. DNF.

The whole point of picking this book was so that I get to read something forbidden. What I got instead was the MC's sister having a thing with his best friend (in secret) while his and Ronan's love is actually made un-forbidden by the fact they actually tell her everything before they even touched each other. Talk about hypocrisy. Smh truly disappointing.

Ooookay. Buckle up buttercup and don't read below unless you want spoilers. And mad rambling. Let's get the complaints out of the way because we know they're easier to talk about.

I'm mad at the marketing of this book. It's deceptive. See points below.

1. YES I know the cover and blurb says it's college but that guy on the cover is NOT (I repeat) Not 19 or 20 which are the ages of the two mc's involved. I expected a grown ass man somewhere. These kids can't even drink legally.

2. So the cover is lying to you. There ain't no grown ass men in this book. I came to terms with this, but I can see why so many negative reviews exist out there. The blurb implies a subject matter that doesn't exist and the lies start with the cover model then quickly descend into madness by implying he's stealing his sisters boyfriend.

3. Ain't nobody stealing shit in this book. But we were robbed. We were robbed of the chance at a taboo cheating story. Nobody cheats and nobody steals shit. That boy is a baby gay and he doesn't even kiss or hold the girls hand because he's respectful and raised in an uber religious home. They just hang out and it clearly isn't happening because, ::says with jazz hands:: GAY! No one is fooling anyone except maybe the reader who expected a bad boy who steals his sisters boyfriend. But everyone in this story in Lorenzo's (or Renzo, or Zo's) family is super logical and level headed and rational. Everyone treats people with respect and kindness and Zo is not a bad boy. He's a sweet kid who falls in love with closet cases or just icky guys who aren't right for him. Then comes along Ronin who is (and I quote) "his walking wet dream." Zo has a checklist of physical attributes he wants in a guy and Ronin checks every box. Luckily for him Ronin seems to be a nice guy who he clicks easily with in all ways. Yes, he's inexperienced and a baby gay but no big deal is made about his virginity (thank you author).

Honestly this is a well written coming out story of falling in love for the first time. How some people just click together and their relationship is easy. The friend group is interesting and solid. Everyone seems to like each other with no real drama. The sources of drama are realistic and mostly coming from outside their relationship (how do we tell the sister, how do we tell the parents, how does Ronin come out).

The depiction of Ronin's parents is pretty solid as far as coming out to religious hateful people goes. A lot of Christians believed (when I was growing up in the 80s/90s) that being gay is a choice and you were going to hell. Parents were taught by the church to not condone the sin because it was a choice. Tough love was preached. You were instructed to be firm in your hatred towards the sin so your child would turn away from Satan and you know....like be straight and stuff. You can't make it easy for them... I don't know. It's stupid and hateful and horrible and Ronin is afraid of his parents. He ends up being only half right. His mom actually grows a backbone and supports her son.

I appreciate that the author didn't make him be in the closet a stupid long time, or make it a point of conflict in the relationship. As soon as Ronin realizes he's falling in love with Zo he drives 12 hours straight to come out to his parents.

Now, if the blurb and cover had actually matched what was in this book it would be a very solid four star read. I want to take a star away to three just because there's no damn reason to make it sound like it's about something it's not. The writing, relationships, world building is great. You don't need fake taboo to get people to read the book. I REALLY appreciated the author's writing style. She kept it concise, didn't drag shit out, made good choices for her characters. It wasn't 10 hours long (overly long in other words) because she needed an editor. No, it was just the writing length, and so for that and all the other good stuff I'll keep reading. But if she keeps putting fake ass shit in the descriptions of the book I'm going to have to part ways. I'm not sure who has the final decision on the blurb or the cover model (Please see book two for the guy who is also supposed to be 20 and is no way in hell 20) then we may have to part ways, which would be a shame given that she has solid writing.

PS. These narrators elevated this book. I really liked them a lot

2.5 stars. This was a pretty underwhelming college romance, meant to be taboo, I guess, with a sister’s boyfriend element that caused absolutely no drama at all. Like honestly, not one person cared. It deals with themes like coming out and family acceptance, but only very superficially. There’s also a short period of forced proximity, which was fun. But otherwise it’s a fairly forgettable book.

description
Stealing Ronan is the first standalone release in Isabel Lucero's brand new series, South River University. It seems lately that I have had a major craving for M/M romances, so when I stumbled across this author on social media and discovered that she was writing a new (mainly) M/M romance college series, I just knew that I had to get my hands on these books. She is a new to me author, but I am already absolutely addicted to her storytelling ability and I cannot freaking wait to devour all of the books in this standalone series!

Lorenzo (Renzo) might have just met his perfect match, but there's just ONE little problem...Ronan happens to be his little sister, Vi's new boyfriend. A forbidden attraction of curious gazes soon turns into a forbidden romance when a blizzard leaves them trapped together in a cabin all alone. The chemistry between these two was so f*cking hot that it set my heart on FIRE and burned bright while I found myself wholeheartedly consumed by Renzo and Ronan's epic love story.

This story proves that taking a chance at finding love and learning to accept yourself for who you are will lead to happiness and learning who is there for you no matter what. I absolutely adored everything about these characters and their complicated journey full of unexpected moments that had your heart swooning. This new series by Isabel Lucero's is off to an fantastic start and I am looking forward to devouring all of the books to come!!! Bring on the South River University crew!

I liked it, it was not good or bad, I never thought I would say this but the writing was a bit simple, the story caught me up to 50% of the book then Everything was a bit predictable and I got a little bored once the mcs were together, I'm happy at last I have read this author since I had seen her appear a lot before and I want to continue reading this series although I do not have many expectations

When I seen the sign up for this read and seen that it was MM and forbidden, I knew this would be the read for me.

Renzo is supervising his sister Violet and her new boyfriend while their parents are away and when he meets Ronan, the sister's boyfriend he has an instant attraction to him. There is some flirting on his part but he backs away knowing he can’t go there.

Renzo and Violet and heading to a cabin for winter break with their parents and bring along a friend each. Violet brings Ronan and Renzo brings his best friend Dex. There is a storm and Renzo and Ronan end up getting snowed in together. Some truths are laid out and things quickly move forward for them. Please note, there is no cheating in this book.

Renzo is comfortable within himself, however, Ronan still has to come out. Renzo has already been with someone who wasn’t out but is willing to help Ronan. Ronan struggles with coming out and what his religious family will say but knows Renzo is who he wants and ultimately wants to be comfortable with who he is.

This is the first book in a new standalone series and we are introduced to a great host of side characters with some future stories being laid out.

I really enjoyed this read. It was fast-paced, low angst, filled with steamy moments as well as a story that will hit you in the heart and I look forward to the other books in the series.

This book is exactly how Isabel described it as a fast paced read with lots of steam. 🔥🔥🔥

I absolutely adored Renzo and Ronan. Their instant connection and desire for each other even though Ronan was “dating” Renzo sister.

This story is about finding love, taking the chance at coming out, friendship, support/acceptance and so much more.

Isabel gave us a cast of characters to fall in love with and can’t wait to see Renzo’s sister and his best friend get their HEA.

I absolutely adored Renzo and Ronan together.

This is a coming out/finding yourself/finding love type of story. I appreciated that Renzo didn't really try to pressure Ronan about his identity and what he really wanted. Sure he flirted, but he was also patient once Ronan admitted his interest.

They had amazing chemistry and their journey to happiness was sexy but also emotional. When you're young and just trying to be your true self, it's not always easy. Renzo was an amazing support for Ronan. And Renzo's sister was too, surprisingly. There's also a lot of trust and faith involved.

I've read other MM content from Lucero and it's fantastic. I can’t wait for more stories from this new world she is creating.

Falling in love with a guy because he has the perfect looking dick you’ve even seen and because you’re finally got the chance to sink into his ass and fuck him... Just No !!

The last couples of years books are just dnf material !!

I don’t know if it’s me but I’ve been struggling for months to find a good book with a true romance and love and all. I skipped and dnfed many books lately, it’s all about sex. Don’t get me wrong, I love sex obviously but I need to feel the chemistry, the emotional connexion, a relationship development and it seems like the authors don’t care about that anymore, like all that matters in relationships is the physical attraction and the sexual compatibility like fucking 10 times a day.
What the fuck ? Where’s the love??

I think it’s time for the “way back machine” and read old stuff.

I can’t even at least recommend this book for the sex because it was boring and not hot at all. Ronan’s 1st time as a top is weird as fuck. And as a bottom, meeeeh

This was my first book by this author so I didn't know what to expect going into it but holy hotness was I pleasantly surprised. Stealing Ronan is a hot and sweet insta love story between two college kids - Ronan who is struggling with his identity and Renzo who is out and proud. When Ronan meets Renzo while on a date with Renzo's little sister he meets Renzo and suddenly knows he is no longer confused about his identity.

Ronan and Renzo's story was sweet, low on the angst and high on the steam. A story of finding love when you least expect it in the most unlikely of places and finding your chosen family. I adored everything about their story and am beyond thrilled I jumped on this one. I cannot wait to see what the rest of the series has in store for us.

Woah! Excuse me as I fan myself and wrap my head around everything...or is it my heart. What do you do when you are in love with your sister's boyfriend? Yikes! Steam, emotions, a plot that hooked you from page one...I think I'm still trying to recover here. This book is the first in the series, and I'm already desperate for the next book. Wow! Great plot, great chemistry, great characters, and so much more. Nothing about this book will disappoint you except when you have to walk away from it. It's a must read! 5 stars.

The summary was a bit misleading, because Ronan wasn’t really Renzo’s sister’s boyfriend. They were just hanging out and Ronan was gay, so there was no chance of anything happening. Overall I thought this was pretty good. Ronan’s family was great, I liked the chemistry between Ronan and Renzo, etc. I was so mad at some of the homophobic stuff, but thankfully it wasn’t a major theme or source of angst. I’d be interested in more from this author. Maybe 3-3.5 out or 5 stars?
