Wars of Light is a highly symbolic journey through hard times on the earth beginning with the war in heaven. The novel continues the story begun in Volume I but brings to light that the spiritual war is still being fought by the faithful as well as the wicked on the earth. As the righteous, personified by the Rogers family, gain strength and knowledge about how to be true servants of Christ, life long lessons are learned to prepare them for the final trials that they will have to endure. Again references taken from the scriptures and the general authorities serve to be the backbone of the book. The attempt to teach through story is consistent. Whether one reads the end notes or not, they will not be disappointed. There is excitement from the beginning to the end! A war is raging on the earth as it once did in heaven. An angel of light has fallen from glory and wishes now to steal the souls of men. Imam Mahdi is successfully gathering his legions as the righteous experience greater spiritual gifts to prepare them for the battle of the new age. For all, the heart is the battlefield and the choices dictate alliances. Which power will win your soul? It is the end of days and all is in commotion.
Amazing & so detailed. I am learning so much from all the footnotes. Never has an fiction author provided such detailed information and sources, even Gerald Lund.
Cry, laugh, get educated and entertained! Amazing book series, people who fault a visionary work for a few typos are missing the point...there is no other contender for "last days" LDS historical fiction. Writing about the "end days" AND keeping in line with scriptures and latter day prophecy in NO EASY TASK! Hurrah for Wendie L. Edwards! I have read a lot of fiction and fantasy novels and this IS very good. Wendy keeps it interesting like J.K., but while sharing information that is much more relevant than Hogwarts! Wendie has done the hard research for you, and also gives it to you in copious footnotes if you don't trust her. This is the kind of information that may lead to your temporal and spiritual survival in the near future, AND it is entertaining...what could be more worth your reading time than that?
This series is about the last days. Giving a very interest protrail of the last days making you think about your need to perpare for these days. Like the Work and the glory she has put together a fictional family and put them into the middle of the facts about about what is coming. allow you to put yourself into the place of the family. however the best part is the notes and references at the end of each chapter.
This serious is so captivating. It just keeps getting better and better. I feel the same way I did with the Work and the Glory family. I am getting attached to the family. The way she writes is amazing. She throws in scriptures and prophet talks into the book. And the end to each chapter she has references where she got everything.
The writing in this book was even worse than the writing in the first - and seriously, who is editing these novels? Because whoever it is needs to go back to school for an editing degree. Skiddish? Really?
At least the story is marginally better, even if the pronounced Mary Sue-isms of the characters only gets worse. Oh well.
I'm giving four stars to the fact that this is well researched. The footnotes are amazing. They gave me a lot to think about. The execution of the book is kind of silly and the editing is lax. And I struggle with odd names and odd name spellings. Overall I really did enjoy this book. And that the author is willing to tackle a hard subject.
good enough to continue the series..this one was a bit more gruff..less "after school special" and had a couple twists...seems everyone is trying to make the bad guy...well, badder...will continue...how does it end..oh, wait..the bible says....
Enjoyed this book. The war between the Rogers family and the battle between good and evil continue. Looking forward to reading the next book to see what happens next.
I enjoyed this book better than the first. I think the storyline started dragging me in more and I really like her research and end notes. Very interesting
I would give this book five stars for the enjoyable content, but three stars for the stiff writing style and typos. So, I have settled on four stars. Overall, enjoyable material. :)
