Pretty Pink Poison

I was promised to his brother. But it’s Bane Black who owns me.
They said he’d protect me through my long engagement.
Watch me. Guard me. Keep me on a leash.
Instead, he stalks. He breaks. He consumes … And I enjoy letting him.

Bane is heir to an Italian mob family that enforces loyalty with fear and power with blood. But he’s not just their mafia prince.
He’s their executioner. Merciless. Meticulous. Bred to destroy…
Yet, before all of that, he was my neighbor and the boy I secretly fell for.

But when dark times loom and my father can’t pay the debt he owed their family, he offers what was my hand in marriage…to the wrong brother.
I thought Bane might save me.
Instead, he believes I betrayed him. And rather than halting the engagement, he takes control of it, punishing me with rough touches, ruthless words, and a rage I crave more than his indifference.

I know I should fear his destruction. But as my wedding nears, I realize I’d choose it over his brother’s gentle hand in marriage a thousand times over.

Bane Black is surely toxic.
But I may be the pretty pink poison destined to be his undoing.

Pretty Pink Poison is a dark mafia romance set in a world of syndicates and secrets, where love was never meant to be soft. It was always going to hurt. This book is darker than other Shain Rose books. Please read content warnings prior to reading.

Could have been better..

The first 30% of the book was great but then eight years later the storyline went down hill and became repetitive. MC ignored the heroine and kept her imprisoned then allowed other guys to date her while he has his OW. All because the heroine was SA but not knowing it. Drag after that. Don't care for the 60% of the book with the heroine being weak and pathetic. Then the ending was rushed just to get the HE A. What a wasted read. Disappointed.

This was such a disappointment there was no story, it just went back and forth with the same thing was so repetitive. Also she was locked in a hotel didn’t even see the light of day it was so boring.

I actually wished I DNF it the other ones were so much better I can’t believe how bad this was.

Another thing that confused me like nothing happened with her dad at the end I can’t even remember him being in the story, I could list how confusing some things were.

ARC review

I couldn’t put this book down. It feels like I’ve been waiting years for this story (1 year and 7 months to be exact), and it was everything I wanted and more.

Bane and Bianca have always had this magnetic, chaotic, intoxicating connection. He’s protected her since childhood, and the way they orbit each other, so full of fire, fear, and longing, was absolute perfection. They’re chaos and poison, but somehow, they’re the best kind of lovers.

Bane, my god. I felt for him. He’s so deeply, hopelessly in love with her, and when he thinks she’s betrayed him… all bets are off and O GOD. The pain, the obsession, the devotion, it all hit so hard.

And Bianca (Pink). She’s strong, feisty, and resilient. After everything she’s been through, I’m genuinely proud of her. Watching her stand tall and fight for herself and her love. I might have cried (okay, more than once, if you know, you know 🥹).

This love/hate relationship had me on edge the entire time. There were moments I honestly doubted if they’d get a happy ending. I was obsessed and devoured every page. Not going to lie, at around 90%, I started to wonder if this was secretly going to be a duet.

Pfffft this book… The angst was delicious, the tension addictive, and the spice was top tier.

The only reason I didn’t give this a full 5 stars is because I wanted a bit more of Pink’s interactions with Kee and Olive, and the ending felt a little rushed. It wrapped things up nicely, but also kind of went “boom, they’re together” and that was it.

Still, I absolutely loved Bane and Pink. I’m genuinely sad it’s over.

Now… Jameson’s book??? I need it. Immediately.

Could not put this book down! It had a hold on me from the start.
The story has two main characters Bane and Bianca, whose attraction had been strong from the start of their childhood! He always protected her, when he saw the villain! And she always had the comfort of knowing he was there.
Their relationship progressed under the mask of darkness and the push and pull between them was flying off the page.
There was one glitch! Bianca was traded in marriage by her father to Rafe, Banes older brother.

The will they won't they was absolutely gripping and the rationale of Rafe and Bianca being together made so much sense.

This book reminded me of that meme that goes, “I hope you're hungry for….. nothing!!!”

God, I was so excited to read it. The prologue and the chapters before the time leap were so good. And then the 8-year jump happened, and everything just went downhill from there.

The author said this was a dark story, but did we just ignore the fact that Bianca went through such a traumatic experience? She blamed herself, kept it bottled up, and never talked to anyone about it. That pain ended up making her sabotage her relationship with Bane for years, and after all that buildup, the confrontation and the justice she got felt so underwhelming.

80% of the book basically goes like this:
Bianca: I want you, Bane.
Bane: I can’t have you, you’re my brother’s fiancée.
Bianca: Okay, then I’ll sleep with strangers.
Bane: Over my dead body.
Bianca: Then pick me, choose me.
Bane: Family first.
😫😫😫

It had so much potential, but everything after the leap just fell flat.

Finally Bane and Pinks story and my god was it worth the wait! They are one of my fave couple Shain has ever written!
They are perfect for one another!
They are chaos, they are poison and they are enemies to lovers.
Bane - oh sweet, stalker possessive Bane. He is so in love with her until he thinks she betrayed him, then all bets are off.
Bianca/Pink - feisty, fiery and so in love with Bane too - their love/hate relationship definately keeps you on your toes throughout the book.
This dark mafia romance may be one of Shain’s more darker books but OMG I loved it! You cannot help but be so heavily invested in Bane and Pinks and be sucked into their world.
Highly recommend and cannot wait for the bonus scene!
Thank you so much to Shain for this eARC in exchange for my honest review

Did I read this book in one sitting? Absolutely yes!
Was the couple toxic with a capital T? Also yes!
And was I head over heels for them anyway? 100% yes!🙌🏼

Bane and Pink had the kind of messy, chaotic, can’t-look-away relationship that keeps you glued to the pages. Their connection was complicated destructive at times, but written in such a way that you feel every ounce of their love, pain and obsession. I loved every second of their beautiful toxicity.🖤

Shain’s writing shines here. The plot was gripping, the angst delicious, and the spice? Top tier. This book is a perfect reminder of why I love her stories.

Now, bring on the Jameson book, I’m so ready for it!🙃

⚠️ Check TW’s ⚠️

I have waited for Bane and Pinks story, let me say the wait was worth it! These two were perfectly unhinged for eachother! This book is a lot darker than other Shain Rose books I’ve read…however you still get the amazing plot, the spice and all the emotions that come along with her books. I loved it and I’m sick a sucker for dark romance, especially mafia. I love that the three Black brothers have always been close and protective of Bianca aka Pink. It’s clearly obvious that Bane is far more protective than her arranged fiancé, Rafe. Everyone can clearly see that Bane is in love with his brother’s finance except himself. He makes these excuses that he’s so overbearing and protective because be careful about the families image…but honestly he just care for Pink.
I shed some good tears in this book…tears of sadness and then tears of pride reading as Pink regained her strength during a very dark difficult time in her life.

This book was everything I could ask for in a mafia romance:

🩷 Forbidden love
🩷 Fiancé Brother
🩷 Friends to Enemies to Lovers
🩷 Mafia
🩷 Mask play
🩷 Knife Play
🩷 Stalker MMC

There is truly no greater feeling than receiving an ARC from an author that you’ve followed from the very beginning of your reading journey 🥹

Bianca has been promised to Rafe Black, but his brother Bane has always been in the background, watching her. After giving into their temptations, when Bianca’s actions betray Bane, she has to spend the next few years basically chained to him. As the two war with not only their emotions for each other but all of the feelings they’ve tried to repress for years Bianca aka Pink not only discovers herself but how she truly feels about Bane and vice versa.

These two were diabolical in the best way. I love a toxic pairing and these two gave those vibes tenfold. Not only was this dark mafia romance a rollercoaster of emotions but it truly showed Pink owning her power and getting what she truly deserved. And a man at her side to make sure all of those dreams and wishes and desires will always come true.

Thank you so much to Shain Rose + team for this eARC for review 🖤

Pink and Bane are disastrously perfect for each other. This book will take you through the ups and downs, the fights and more. We get to see glimpses of the Hardy Brothers and their wives. If you’re a fan of her past Books, you are not going to want to miss this one. Be warned this one is darker than she usually writes. Make sure you read the trigger warnings on her website before you dive on it. You will not be able to put this book down.

Review: I loved this book! This story is about Bane and Pink. Pink is supposed to marry Bane’s brother but Bane is the one who is supposed to protect her during her engagement. Bane is the heir to the Italian mob family. Pink thinks she is might be marrying the wrong brother. What will she do as the wedding nears. I loved the banter in this book. I loved the storyline. The chemistry and tension between Bane and Pink was perfect. The character development throughout the book was great! Pink is one stubborn independent woman, who knows what she wants. I loved getting back into this universe. I can’t wait for Behind Closed Doors.

This book surprised me. I went in with high hopes after reading other Shain Rose titles, but the story did not meet my expectations. The prologue and the early chapters before the time jump were strong. I thought I was in for an amazing ride. But once the eight-year leap happened, things kind of fell apart for me. The pacing felt all over the place, the plot lost direction, and the story didn’t flow like it did at the start. It felt like scenes were just thrown together, which made parts feel repetitive and a little hollow.

There was so much potential, but very little of it got explored. The characters barely talked to each other, so the same issues just kept circling instead of moving the story forward. Big moments were glossed over, conversations felt choppy, and the ending was super abrupt. So many things were left hanging: her parents, the chance for revenge, Angela, whether they got married… it all just fizzled out. Bane deserved more, he’s got so many layers, and I wanted to see more of him. The plot twist did surprise me, but honestly, one conversation eight years earlier could’ve fixed everything.

Bianca (Pink) was a tricky one for me. I really felt for her… what she went through was awful, and the guilt she carried was heartbreaking. She kept everything bottled up, which messed up her relationship with Bane for years. She really should have told him what happened sooner. When she finally did, the confrontation and justice felt rushed. Pink could also be kind of childish sometimes. Some of her antics to get Bane’s attention were mildly funny, though. And the gluten-intolerance secret… just silly. Bianca and Bane had so much potential together, but the story didn’t quite deliver.

Then there’s the miscommunication. I usually hate this trope, and this book made me hate it even more. It dragged on forever. Rafe could’ve just told Bane he didn’t care if Bane wanted Pink… that alone could’ve saved years of angst. Pink could’ve shared what happened. Everyone just… should have talked. I can’t get over how many years of Bianca’s life were wasted because no one communicated.

Was this the best book I’ve ever read? No.
But was it entertaining? Absolutely. There were parts I really enjoyed, and aside from the miscommunication, it had several tropes I love. The story had a solid foundation and was engaging until around halfway through. I just wish their love had been deeper and the characters had more development.

In the end, this book had all the right ingredients, but the way it was executed left me wanting so much more.

Touch Her & 💀 (Literally)

This book felt so good after almost two months of just contemporary romance! 🥵🔥 I’ve been waiting for Bane & Pink’s story, and it was definitely worth the wait! This story does have several triggers and sensitive topics, so PLEASE check Trigger Warnings!

Pink (Bianca) had been promised to Rafe before she was even born. Her whole life revolved around their secret society (the Diamond Syndicate) and how she was their slave. While she’s been promised to Rafe, she’s fallen in love with his brother, Bane.

Bane has the urge to solve every puzzle and everyone he comes across. The only person he hasn’t been able to solve is Bianca. He knows he needs to stay away, but he can’t. He’s hidden behind a mask for years, but with the masks gone, can he claim what he knows is his?

The push and pull between Pink & Bane was 🔥🔥. I loved every minute of their toxic selves! Even with all the toxic behavior, they were perfect for each other. Like Bane said, “Something about the way she was the chaos to my order made me want to reorganize her and make her functional.”

The birth of Pink was painful, yet so empowering. Her finally finding the strength to live as her authentic self and not letting anyone control her was perfection— even if the road to that moment was brutal.

I loved Bane, but boy, did I want to punch him at times! He was so ready to accept that Bianca betrayed him that he never actually talked to or listened to her!

The amount of miscommunication in this story was so frustrating! Neither of them actually talked (although Bianca did try). The first 30% was great world-building that had me hooked. The 30-60% mark was frustrating, but it had wonderful spice and set the groundwork for Pink’s rebirth. By the time I hit 80%, everything started to feel repetitive, and I got a little bored. The last 20%, after Bane learned the truth, was a lot better, but Bane taking his sweet time to accept his feelings had me on the edge of my seat! Pink getting her revenge was literally chef’s kiss!

This was an emotional rollercoaster. I was in tears at times and smiling & giggling at others. It felt so good to be back in Shain Rose’s world, and I’m so excited for what’s to come next with the Diamond Syndicate!

Huge thank you to Shain for sending me this arc🩷 I’ve been waiting for Bane’s & Pink’s story since I read the Hardy Brothers series. I knew their story was going to be explosive but oh my goodness I wasn’t expecting this! This was INCREDIBLE & my new favourite Shain Rose book!! This has some really dark & gruesome scenes & mentions sh & sa so please read the trigger warnings. But if you love your dark, filthy, explosive, hot mafia romances, you’ll love this. It was fast-paced & so addictive- I devoured it. The multiple plot twists & secrets had my jaw on the floor😧

Bianca (Pink) is incredibly badass. I literally sobbed over everything she went through, but she’s such a strong, resilient, brave, & fierce character. I loved her cheeky, mischievous, stubborn & sassy side. Bane has a dark soul. He’s dangerous, cunning, ruthless, & downright obsessed with his “Pink”🖤 This man would do anything for Bianca & it was so hot! Like wdym he set fire to the school so she could study longer for her test?!

Bane & Pink are toxic w/ a capital T, but they were also so perfect together. They’ve been obsessed with one another since they were children, so to watch them spend their entire lives together but also know that they’re not destined for one another was tough. They had such a whirlwind, chaotic romance. The tension was palpable, the chemistry was explosive, the passion had me salivating, & the push & pull was enthralling. I loved how deeply they loved one another- especially Bane, even when he thought Pink had betrayed him in the worst possible way☹️🩷 I loved this book so much!!!

Just finished Pretty Pink Poison and I’m obsessed. Bianca (aka Pink) and Bane are pure fire—chaotic, intense, and absolutely perfect together.

Shain Rose nailed the dark romance vibe. Their love burns through every page. Toxic? Yes. Addictive? Absolutely.

I was already intrigued by Pink from her appearances in earlier series, so I was eager to dive into her story.

She was raised under her father’s iron fist and conditioned to obey, yet never able to meet his impossible standards. Instead, of succumbing, Bianca forged her own path, becoming a fierce, relentless, unpredictable force.

As a member of the Diamond Syndicate, Bianca was promised to Rafe—Bane’s brother—before she was born. But it was Bane who ignited something undeniable in her. Their chemistry was explosive, through their love/hate relationship, their bond was unbreakable. They would set the world on fire for one another.

Their love began in the shadows, however it was never meant to stay hidden. Their connection was too powerful, too consuming—it was always meant for the light.

Bane is the embodiment of a made man: powerful, sexy, and terrifyingly precise—except when it comes to Bianca. She’s his opposite in every way: wild, rebellious, and drawn to danger.

Pink is the storm to Bane’s control. Together, they’re volatile, toxic, and perfect for one another.

Had to mention the cameo from previous series characters - The rooftop pool scene had me laughing, I was just picturing all the mens reactions. Loved it!

If you love a dark romance with a fierce heroine, morally grey men, stalker tendencies and masked men then Pretty Pink Poison is a must-read.

Thank you to Shain Rose for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Pretty Pink Poison by Shain Rose was a book I simply couldn’t put down — dark, emotional and full of mystery. It’s not just about love, but an obsession our characters can’t escape, one that builds a delicious tension throughout the story.

I loved seeing Bianca’s growth, how she learns to put her own desires first and finds the courage to do so. I also appreciated her honesty when it comes to her feelings and what she truly wants from Bane.

The forbidden love between them is beautifully and intensely written. Their relationship is full of tension, but the resentment between them made it even more special because it added so much emotion. I love stories that make me feel something, and stories about impossible love always hit me right in the feels. That’s exactly what happened here, with every moment Bane tried to keep his distance or when Bianca felt all alone.

“She was the mess to my order, and I wanted it forever.” 💗

I didn’t fully connect with the part about the Vault, but I appreciated that it wasn’t too detailed, and in the end, I understood both the author’s and the male character’s perspective. I also had a feeling about what really happened that night, but that didn’t take away from my reading experience, if anything, I needed that confirmation, and it’s what kept me interested until the end.

I really appreciated how the AI aspect was woven into the story. I won’t lie, I was a bit nervous about it at first, but once I saw the real purpose behind it, I was so satisfied. It turned out to be a lesson worth learning.

“You’re the forbidden fire I keep going back to. I can’t resist the way you burn me.” 💖

"I don't touch you, baby girl, because if I start, I won't be able to stop." 🩷💀

This was exactly what I could've hoped for when it came to Pink's and Bane's story. It was emotional and raw and dark but it was authentically real.

These two have grown up in a world of blurred lines, no laws, and morally grey men. Bianca is meant to marry Bane's brother, Rafe. It's been that way for years after her father tried to double cross the Black's. She's always loved him from afar. He's always watched over her obsessively. When they play a game and mask their feelings, it comes to a destructive end. But when she is forced to stay under Bane's extremely watchful eye, and her feelings are constantly brought to the forefront, the tension never stops.

He can't let go of the masks. She can't take him pretending he doesn't feel for her. The tension in this book is INSANELY good. From the very first page of this book to the very last, I was completely obsessed.

I loved the pace of this story. Even though it takes you back years, you never feel like the pacing is slow. It flows really well and kept me immersed the whole way through.

Thank you so much for the eARC Shain! I've been waiting for their story since the Hardy Billionaires series. And i LIVED for the cameos of them in this book.

tropes:

- strong FMC

Bane and Pinks' story was EVERYTHING I hoped it would be. I loved that it spanned years, and touched on topics from previous books, but still was centered on Bane and Pink.

“Jesus might have died for you, but I’ll kill for you… over and over again and live with the consequences.”

Bane could give Cade a run for his money, and that's saying something because I absolutely LOVE Daddy Cade from Corrupted Chaos. His over the top tendencies, and possessiveness is 1000% delicious; and I LOVED how he would literally start wars over her. *insert major swoon*

"You don’t get to leave this world without me, Pink. I’ll drag you fucking back every single time.”

I loved the transformation from Bianca to Pink. Getting to understand all of Pinks backstory had me heartbroken for everything she had to live through, but so fucking happy when she finally went for revenge. Her character growth was so impressive to watch.

And just because there was so many good quotes in this story, I'm gonna share one of my favorite microtrope scenes...

“Buy whatever you want on my card. And it better not just be a bit of food.”
“I intend to spend thousands.”
"Try harder. Hit a mil if you want me to be impressed.”

Who doesn't love a fictional man who just hands over his card to her? 😍😍😍

This book was a dark and addictive romance that thrived on angst and emotional chaos! From the first page, it’s drenched in tension, forbidden love, and betrayal.😏

The dynamic between the MMC and FMC is toxic. Toxic? Yes, absolutely, but they are also magnetic and impossible to look away from! Every argument and confession cuts deep, making the angst feel raw and real rather than robotic. It’s the kind of emotional push and pull that leaves your heart bruised in the best way. As a reader, I wasn't able to be indifferent to the characters or the story. Let's not talk about the tears because there were TONS!😭

The spice in this book was intense. Almost all of the steamy scenes are emotionally charged, so you know that makes for something hot. It's a forbidden romance after all!🥵

Check your triggers on this book because there a quite a few that are serious and not just tropes. This isn't really a light read, but if you are looking for something that will destroy you, but again, heal you, this is a good one!❤️

I am grateful to have received this arc from Shain Rose and her team!

I have been so excited to read Bane and Pink’s story since we first met them! The tension between them was clear from the start, so finally getting to read their story from start to finish was an absolute RIDE! This book is definitely darker than some of the other Shain Rose books I’ve read but still packs the same heat and emotions I’m used to. Bane and Pink have a poisonous, viscous love. It’s rough and obsessive but it’s also deep and passionate. Even when trying to fight it, they can’t resist what lies between them. But another big part of this story is Pink’s growth. Finding her strength after facing some of the most difficult times. Finding her voice and fighting for everyone to finally hear it. To finally see her. She found her power and that was really inspiring to read!

So if you’re a lover of dark romance then I’d definitely recommend! ⚠️But please check trigger warnings for this one folks🖤

Heartbreaking & Beautiful

We met Bane & Pink in the Hardy Billionaires Series, and now we get to read their story…

Bianca has had a hard life. Growing up in a mob family isn’t easy anyways, but having a family who values their connections over their own daughter is the worst. When Bianca’s father makes a bad mob deal, to protect himself, he pays with his daughter’s hand in marriage. Too bad the bargain was made to the wrong brother, and not the one she ends up secretly in love with. I knew I loved Pink as soon as we met her in the Hardy Billionaires series. Her feminine urge to disturb Bane’s peace throughout this whole book had me ROLLING. She’s fierce, and cheeky, and I love it!

We get to return to one of my favorite scenes from the Hardy Billionaires series, and see a few familiar faces too! I can’t wait to read Behind Closed Doors coming 2/24/26!

PLEASE NOTE: this book is darker than other Shain Rose books. Therefore, read at your own risk and please check the trigger warnings here:

WOW! Shain Rose warned us this was dark…she didn’t lie. This was an epic tale of trauma, rejection, obsession, and love. I knew Pink’s story would be wild, but I couldn’t have imagined this.

Pink’s story gutted me. Ms. Rose did an exceptional job of letting me feel so much of her pain and loneliness. My heart broke for her many times over.

Bane was wild! He was like a mix of Cade, Dex, and Dante in one intense package. He made me so angry at times, but he was so devoted to Pink that it was beautiful (in a diabolical way.)

I love that there was a found family at the end for Pink and she was able to get a piece of what she had dreamed of.

The only thing that flustered me was why did Rafe not communicate better with Bane and his intentions?! I suppose that would have spoiled the story though. Oh well!

It’s a hauntingly moving tale, but certainly full of dark and twisted triggers. Please be aware.

Pretty Pink Poison by Shain Rose is a captivating and emotionally charged romance that had me hooked from beginning to end. The story explores complex characters navigating difficult circumstances, and I appreciated how Rose brought depth and nuance to their personal struggles and growth.

The chemistry between the leads is intense and believable, filled with both tender and raw moments that added authenticity to their connection. Rose’s writing style is vivid and immersive, making it easy to become fully invested in the characters’ journey.

While some plot elements felt familiar, the emotional intensity and well-developed characters made the story feel fresh and compelling. The pacing was steady, though I wished a few scenes had been expanded to better explore certain emotional layers.

Overall, Pretty Pink Poison is a gripping and heartfelt read that fans of intense, character-driven romance will enjoy. I’m looking forward to reading more from Shain Rose!
