Krista Swanson lives in New Jersey with her husband. They have three children, but only one is left to get out of the nest. Her and her husband have already started their travel across the US and Europe and are loving every minute. She loves the beach, mainly the Jersey beaches, which she feels don’t get the love they deserve.
When she’s not writing, she is most definitely reading. Her lifelong love of reading romances gave her all of the ideas busting to get out of her brain. While doing either, though, the mug in hand will not have coffee in it. The blasphemy—it will be tea!

ARC review: I finished this whole book in a day, I absolutely devoured it and loved Gage and Harper's story. We got a little taste of him in Surviving lies and he was amazing but this book made me love him so much more. If you are looking for a hot romance between 2 people who are broken and come together and heal one another with their love this is the book for you ♥️
“It’s not that I can’t live without you, Harper. It’s that I don’t want to.”
Starting off by saying I read Saving Us as a stand-alone, never having previously read any of Krista's other books.
Saving Us starts off strong, I was very invested and flying through the pages for at least the first 30 percent of the book. I loved our witty, guarded, natural beauty Harper. Her male interest Gage reminded me of Shrek...but like in a good way. Let's just say he has lots of layers, like an onion..haha!
The story line is adorable. Who doesn't love instant attraction, run of the mill beauty meets broody handsome billionaire beast?! I found myself swooning, launghing, and crying during these 370 pages. And I'm really hoping that you will to!
I rarely give a 5 star. I think I've only done so a few times! So I'm giving this book a 4! Nothing against it, I just typically read romantasy. So, reading an urban romance has just been a little bit of a change of pace for me.
Most thought provoking line: "The cars and people on the street below looked tiny from forty floors up, but they were bustling about, all going about their day, oblivious to the pain some people around them might be dealing with."
Favorite made me chuckle line: "But somehow, one specific d*ck was stuck on my brain."
Swoon worthy line: “A thousand times yes, in a thousand lives, yes."
This was a very sweet and emotional story! Let me start by saying I’ve read both books in Krista’s Blue Ridge University Series and while I enjoyed them both, Saving Us is my favorite! And even though Saving Us is a spin off to the BRU series I didn’t feel like I needed to read the other two to understand this story. Saving Us is a rollercoaster ride of emotions! I smiled a lot, laughed and cried! It has a great plot, well paced so it kept me interested from start to finish and it is nicely written. Gage and Harper come from two different worlds. Gage being really well off and Harper having to work two jobs to try and make her dreams come true. I love a good grumpy sexy man and Gage is all kinds of hotness! The poor guy has been through a lot and is trying to work through his issues. Harper is so sweet and working so hard to make her dream of owner her own floral shop come true as she literally runs into Gage capturing his attention immediately in all the right and wrong ways! Their first meeting had me snicker. I loved watching the relationship develop and grow helping each other to heal. Especially after losing such a close friend in a horrible accident. When Gage literally tracked Harper down and lying to the security where she was staying just so he could see her because he thought he’d lost her forever was so swoon worthy! Thank you so much Krista! I really enjoyed Saving Us!
I absolutely LOVE Harper and Gage!! Their story will hit you in all the feel. When two people who are very guarded due to past heartbreak meet and instantly click with an undeniable attraction makes for a story you can’t put down! I loved Gage when we first met him in Surviving Lies, but I love him even more now. He and Harper were made for each other! Once again, the author has given us a characters we can all relate to and a story that will have you laughing, crying, blushing, screaming and swooning over! If you love a good romance book with an amazing storyline that pulls you in right from the start, then you will definitely want to give this one a read. I am so excited for the next book in this series!!
Gage and Harper's meeting wasn't one you would think would turn up a beautiful love, but it did. I loved reading their journey and watching them grow. It wasn't an insta love they had to work at and grow their love. They had to deal with the loss of a friend in an accident. In the end, it made them stronger and the perfect couple. To think it all started with pink rose.
Gage and Harper’s story was truly beautiful, and I enjoyed every second of it. Seeing Gage, the strong, charismatic and sexy CEO fight his past demons, making amends with his past, sure was emotional. I love Harper because she’s a really strong FMC, young but independent, knows what she wants in life and has no fear to make it happen. The two of them falling in love, healing and helping each other becoming better versions of themselves…. I’ve loved this book!
I felt this was a great read. For me, it was a roller coster of emotions. If you like grumpy sunshine reads, you should pick this one up!!! This one comes out on October 23!!!!! So make sure to pre-order or grab your copy when it drops.
This isn’t my favorite book by this author though I did enjoy it. I am glad to have the rest of Gage’s story. This one just didn’t hit the way her other books did for me. I really want more of Gage’s brother’s story now though.

📝My Review📝
In Krista Swanson’s Saving Us, it was a typical weekday morning for most, but for Harper today was the day that would lead her one step closer to her dreams. Unfortunately time got away from her and it was definitely not the day to be late. Due to working two jobs, a flower shop during the day and a club at night, Harper is living on minimal sleep just so she can afford her life in NYC. Not only does she work due to the high cost of living, she is also trying to save for her dream of owning her own flower shop.
Gage is a man on a mission, who prioritizes and lives for the family business, but is also guarded with barriers that have harden his heart due to a hurtful past. On his way to a business meeting with his brother, Gage abruptly meets a woman who charms her way into his grumpy heart. While the scrambling ray of sunshine is walking away, he and his brother realize that she is the individual that they were on their way to meet.
Although they are working professionally together, both Gage and Harper cannot deny the chemistry and desire for each other. Coming from two different worlds, will Gage and Harper be able to accept their differences and learn to communicate their wants and needs for each other? Or will they allow their differences and lack of communication to build barriers and destroy what they have?
Saving Us is a contemporary romance that gives a Cinderella meets Chuck Bass (Gossip Girl) relationship vibe. The MFC is sunshine and roses whereas the MMC is brooding with a hidden teddy bear heart. I will fully admit I am a sucker for Chuck Bass, so naturally I was really drawn to Gage and his storyline. Harper is spunky, strong, and creative that I could relate to her personality. She wasn’t afraid to go up against Gage and tell him what’s what.
Swanson did a marvelous job capturing the struggles of keeping independence but finding a way to compromise within a relationship. Furthermore, the plot twist that she included within the story was something I didn’t see coming until it happened. The characters’ reaction to the plot twist were realistic and helped shape the character development for each individual. One character I would have appreciated following more after the plot twist was Delia. However that didn’t make or break my enjoyment factor while reading it.
In the end, I appreciated as a reader seeing the characters face a struggle that not only cuts your soul open, but the outcome is also something that many can relate to at some point in their lives. The truth behind Swanson’s words are striking and raw. With that said, please read the trigger warnings and be aware of your own reaction when reading. Definitely worth the read to experience the journey, but it can be triggering for some individuals
Overall, if you are into contemporary romance with billionaire grump and a strong sunshine woman trope, then this book is for you!
🤍Thanks to Krista Swanson for trusting me with their novel in return for my personal review🤍
ARC Review: Saving Us by Krista Swanson ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5
This book is absolutely a hands-down 5/5! From the very start, Saving Us pulls you in and doesn’t let go. The writing is beautiful and so deeply emotional, making it impossible not to get swept up in the story.
Though it’s part of the BRU series, Saving Us can easily be read as a standalone—I read it before any of the others. I immediately connected with Gage’s raw, profound hurt and felt a deep empathy for his grief. Harper has her own heavy past, but it was Gage’s pain that really resonated with me on a personal level.
Their love is palpable right from the start. Gage, a wealthy man running his father’s business, and Harper, balancing jobs at a flower shop and a club, come from opposite worlds. Neither was looking for love, yet they found it in each other. The chemistry and unwavering love between them was unforgettable.
Quotes like, “I realized that you are what I want. Fights and all. You’re worth every fight we might have, but I know I’m willing to fight for us.” and “It’s not that I can’t live without you, Harper. It’s that I don’t want to,” capture the depth of their bond perfectly.
********LIGHT SPOILERS BELOW THIS POINT: *********
For me, Gage’s journey through grief was especially moving. Having recently gone through a similar loss, I felt every ounce of his struggle. Swanson writes grief so authentically, with lines like, “Grief is a beast of horrific proportions. One day you might think you had it conquered, and the next it had you laid up in bed with a quart of ice cream.” This hit home, capturing the unpredictable, overwhelming nature of loss.
“He may have been fooled into thinking his grief had gone away. But it never goes away, especially not this early. It will subside with time. But then the pain gets packed into a remote section of our brains, and it pops out randomly, usually at the most inopportune moments. For the rest of your life.”
Despite Gage pushing people away, Harper’s unwavering support brought him back, showing how love can be the ultimate healing force. The way Gage held on to every word Harper said, storing them away as tokens of love, was such a beautiful touch. By the end, I found myself in happy tears—a rare occurrence for me!
Saving Us is a phenomenal read that explores love, grief, and healing. Highly recommend!
WOW! Gage Parker is perfection. This is the first book I have ever read by Krista Swanson, and now I want to check out all of her books!
Let me start off by saying the writing was impeccable, the storyline, the spice, everything about this book was amazing! I was immediately hooked by the end of chapter one. I devoured this book in two days. I did not want to put it down.
The book made me smile, laugh and cry. But it was so good. I am obsessed with the characters Gage and Harper. I think they fit perfect together. I cannot say enough good things about this book honestly. I don't want to say to much and give any spoilers away, but I will say that it was nice to not have a slow start to the book where it takes you 20 chapters to really get into the story.
I am hoping there might be a sequel to their story because this was beyond perfection in every way. If you are into spice, romance, a swoon worthy MMC, please do yourself a favor and preorder your copy today!
My favorite quote from this book: "I told her she did me the greatest favor. Otherwise, I never would have met you" - Gage Parker
The things that Gage Parker says and the things that he does, he is the perfect example of a perfect book boyfriend. He will forever live rent free in my head. I could probably sit here and right even more great things about this book, but I will let you read it for yourself, you will not be disappointed, I assure you!
I cannot wait for book two in this series, But be sure to get your OWN copy of Saving Us - By Krista Swanson, releasing October 23, 2024. Remember, you can preorder today! Happy Reading : )
I was given an ARC copy of this book for my honest opinion. My favorite quotes sprinkled through the book are: “She let herself go. And I devoured everything she gave me”; “Watch the moment you take everything from me”; and “Our rhythm became our love song.” These quotes are everything and more. The book starts with a discombobulated Harper late for work at the flower shop. She quite literally runs into Gage inside her favorite coffee shop, and their story progresses from there. This is a no cheating, HEA that will make you laugh, giggle like a little school girl, bring tears to your eyes and make you gasp at the sheer love these two share. They have their ups and downs, but in the end they end up saving one another. One running from a past that left a path of destruction and the other trying desperately to carve out a future all on their own. Gage’s past comes back to haunt him, and Harper handles it like a champ. The couple are loving life when tragedy strikes, and when I tell you I have never cried so hard for a character. This quote from the book nearly broke me: “Save me, Harper, please. Save me.” IYKYK!! The spice is not overly smutty, but exactly what a refreshing read needs. 10/10 recommend this book, and I can not wait to see if Chase gets his happy ending. We also have Maryellen and some potential foreshadowing on a future book. My fingers and toes are crossed!! 🥹🤧🌸💐
4⭐️ I received an ARC in return for an honest review. I do not want to give too much detail about the book, I never do in my reviews because I do not like giving the book away. But I will give my honest opinion!
It started with a run in at a coffee shop… a grump and girl who was running late for work! And what were the chances that the grump ended up being her first appointment of the day? Although the interaction was awkward, there definitely was an attraction.
Throughout the weeks to come, there were other run ins with each other. Seeing it as a sign, they took a leap of faith, and Harper and Gage began dating. Their lives were so incredibly different. From their upbringing, to their jobs, to their financial standings, I guess you can say opposites attract? But oddly, they worked!
The book holds some beautiful moments of falling in love, childish moments of nonsense fighting, dealing with parental neglect, jealousy, grief, physical pain. I also really enjoyed getting to know the supporting characters, but not in too much detail where they overtook the storyline.
Where I struggled… 1. The book hooked me right away. But then it got cold on me for a while. When it picked back up, it was hard for me to get back into. As in quite a few chapters to hook me again. 2. Epilogues… if they aren’t 5, 7, 10 years in the future, what’s the point? That’s my own personal opinion. And it’s not against my rating of the book.
We left Gage heartbroken at the end of Surviving Lies….Becca may not of been “the one” but in strolls Harper…those two had past demons to fight….both had been unlucky in love….both had work to keep them busy….until the day their work lives collided with each other Gage was set on running his father’s company with her younger brother, Chase…Harper had a dream, goals & a plan to get where she wanted to be in life…she had her future mapped out & an ex that saw her as more of a pretty princess than a business woman in the making Neither of their plans included love but when you have some behind the scenes help you just never know what is going to happen A lot of things didn’t go according to plan for either of them though along the way…they definitely needed each other to lean on…& I’m not sure who saved who….I honestly think they saved each other
I was one of the readers at the end of Surviving Lies that was hoping we would get more of Gages story….I loved this spinoff series starter….pretty sure I’ve already figured out who the next book will be about
If you love a good instalove, billionaire, work place adjacent, grumpy sunshine romance with some spice give this book a read…you don’t have to read Surviving Lies first but it does give you a bit of insight on who Gage is as a person….he definitely seems more mature than his age….but so does Harper with her take nothing from anyone attitude
I read Saving Us as a standalone and I could not put it down!!!! Gage is heir to his father's billionaire company. I wouldn't say he's grumpy, but he does have a more serious persona. Harper seems like a fun, bubbly, girl, just working jobs to pay the bills. Harper and Gage literally bump into each other on the street only to find out Gage is a client that she's meeting that morning. Once they meet, they can't seem to stop thinking about each other. Gage is very apprehensive since he had just had his heart broken and was trying to move past what happened to him in his previous relationship. But he feels drawn to Harper and can't stay away. Together, they are intense (and spicy). I love how, even though he was cautious about getting into something with Harper because of his past, he was so willing to try with her and be so open with her. Their relationship gets tested a few times, but they work so well together to try to overcome obstacles. This story was fast past and drew me in for more. It is well written and the characters have so much depth to them. This was a great story and I recommend giving it a read.
Let me say I was not sure about this one at first only because of what happened in a previous book, but I am so glad I did. This book was packed with lots of steamy moments, uncertainties of attractions, feels coming from it and how to open up to love because of past traumas that made them hesitant and scared of the unknown. I give it 5 stars because I have read all of Krista's books in this series and every book just places everything together in a way that is not too confusing or long-winded. This book is like another piece to the big puzzle that Krista is creating that isn't yet finished. We still need to know about Macies story and how Lanies and Xanders story turned out. Also, I have noticed that it seems there are a lot of things in this book that give me hope the series isn't done yet and doesn't seem to be anytime soon. Not intended for younger readers as the love scenes are too explicit for teens, I would recommend this for mature readers. 18+ Don't stop reading it till you finish, but if you happen to read parts at a time, as I had to, due to life events, this story will stay in your mind till you finally finish. Just saying.
Saving Us by Krista Swanson took me on an emotional rollercoaster—I smiled, laughed, fanned myself, gasped, and even shed a few tears, all in one sitting. I started this book early in the morning and simply couldn’t put it down.
The story follows Harper and Gage, two people who’ve been burned by past relationships and are cautiously exploring what could be between them. As the book progresses, we watch both characters grow in ways that feel real and heartfelt.
This book has it all: fun moments, spicy scenes, realistic relationship struggles, loss, grief, and so much love between Gage and Harper. I loved how well-rounded it felt—we get a bit of everything. The highs and lows really show just how much each character evolves by the end.
You can’t help but fall in love with Gage as he transforms from a grump to Mr. Right, and Harper’s quirky ways make her such an endearing character. If you enjoy reading about characters who truly date and watching their relationship develop organically, Saving Us is definitely for you!

Needless to say, Harper and Gage come from two different worlds, but once their paths cross, they can not seem to stay away from one another.
This was a fun romance story, and it definitely had a nice amount of spice. Krista did a great job on developing characters that you want to root for and scenarios that will have you fanning yourself.
I put spoiler warning cause I never know if my descriptions are vague enough or not
Alright this book was a cute read! I love how initially it kind of just went for it instead of some long process of will they won't they in the start. That said you do get a bit of a slow down with some real growth of the actual relationship.
This book was actually so adorable and their relationship grew into something beautiful.
I will say I didn't expect to have my heart gutted at one point, I thought it'd be all cute and happy, silly me for getting to comfortable I may have shed a few tears. But that's okay what's a little emotional devastation in a good book?
Also the fruit flowers?! How fricking adorable! (Ifykyk)
I was lucky enough to be chosen to ARC read this one and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

My sweet heart, what a book. These young people fell in love. Both are cautious with their heart. But did they really stand a chance? No. No, they didn’t.
Harper and Gage both made bold moves in the book that brought them closer together and I loved that! They were pretty set on each other and eventually gave in. It was wonderful to read how they took a step back to slow down and savor their journey together.
I did not enjoy the stunt Harper pulled when she was hurt. Gage did not deserve that in any way. Luckily she realised that sooner than later.
This was the first book I’ve read from the author and I can’t wait to get my hands on the second book in this series!
Saving Us gets a 4.5⭐️ & 2.5🌶️
TROPES ✨ Billionaire Romance ✨ Grumpy / Sunshine ✨ Opposites Attract ✨ Different Worlds ✨ 1st Person / Dual POV
ARC review: This is my first Krista Swanson book and most definitely won’t be my last. The love story of Gage & Harper is everything. It gives you different worlds, billionaire romance, grumpy sunshine, workplace romance, healing from grief, spice 🥵, etc. Seeing their romance flourish throughout the book had me smiling, and the spice had me blushing. There is heart break (not what you think) so be sure to have your tissue box ready. But overall, this book had me crying happy tears. It was hard to put it down overall. lt is hard for me to rate a romance novel such as this because I am very particular of what I like & what I don’t but this is a definite 5 ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me. I hope everyone reads this! Now I don’t know what to read next!
Review: omg I love Gage. He was grumpy in the beginning, but I’m so glad that changed. I see a lot of myself in Harper, especially her self imposed independence. I wish we could have seen more of the relationship growth between Gage and Chase (his brother,) but I have a feeling the next book will be about him! I love that both characters seem real, and not over the top dramatic. Gage does some really sweet things, and is a perfect example of “if he wanted to, he would.” I would love to see a girls night out between Harper, Victoria, and Peter! Please read this when it’s released!
This book has the insta-lust, billionaire romance trope. There is some mention of death and grief.
Fell in love with Harper and Gage right off the bat!
Not my usual genre, but I loved the story and the characters so much. Gage’s character has so much depth that I haven’t seen in other contemporary romances and I loved every moment of it.
A sweet story that had me hooked from the start. The pace of the book was fast and furious which was so fitting for the NYC setting.
I love Harper and her witty attitude. She really brought Gage out of his shell. Love at first sight, but feels like they’re already so close that it was fated love.
This was truly a lovely and feel good story and I wish I could read it again for the first time so I can swoon all over again.

Gage and Harper… they are from 2 different worlds and it shows. Gage is a billionaire and Harper works at a flower shop and a night club while saving up for her own flower shop. He’s a grump and she is like sunshine. Neither one are ready for a relationship but they just can’t seem to stay away from each other. Chapter 30… oh man, chapter 30. I couldn’t put this book down! It’s a spinoff from her Blue Ridge University series. You don’t have to read them first to get started on this book but I did and I don’t regret it! Krista Swanson is a great author and I look forward to reading more of her books!
Gage runs an empire. Harper is a florist with plans to open her own shop. They really connect when Gage runs to pay his bill and Harper shows the plans for next seasons arrangements.
Harper is a server for a club in the evening. When things are hectic with a bachelor party while Gage and his brother is wining and dining some clients, he can’t deny his feelings anymore.
Plot ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
I really enjoy Krista’s writing. I’ve discovered her with her second novel. And I’m happy Gage got his story. We liked then hated him. This is his redemption story. I couldn’t put the book down!
Oh lord where to start..... I met Gage in Surviving Lies and not going to lie I didn't think highly of him because we all wanted Becca and Tyler to work out. Seeing him in his own story made me come back around. This one is full of all the emotions and is so well written everything about it was perfect. Gage dealing with everything life had throw at him finding his perfect partner in Harper. She is just as stubborn and closed off and watching them blossom into who they were always meant to be was perfect. Absolutely phenomenal story and well worth the read.
If you’re looking for a fast paced witty grump turned sunshine romance set in New York City then this is the perfect book for you! I am such a fan of a city setting, I always find it so romantic. There’s something about finding just one person in the midst of all that craziness that I believe to be so beautiful. Also — if you enjoy a fated love story, this one is for you as well <3 OH and very spicy!! I’d say a 5/5 on the spicy scale.
Discover yourself and more in the stories of Harper and Gage in Krista Swanson’s Saving Us available October 23rd!
This was my first read by Krista and I’m honoured I got the opportunity to read this before release.
This is not your typical rich CEO romance. The FMC is fiercely independent and works bloody hard. The MMC is giving injured golden retriever energy - when he falls he falls. But there is some genuine healing involved for both characters.
I wasn’t expecting to tear up reading this but I did. The theme of grief is so well handled and written.
The spice is *chefs kiss* - not too much but sexy as hell.
OMG Gage Gage Gage did not know you had all that hidden under your clothes when you were with Becca!!! I am so glad we got a book for Gage. He really is a dark horse! And damn does he mix some major spice in there! Young man you made the roses blush!!!
All I will say is focus on Gage and Harper as Krista writes in such a beautiful engaging way you fall for so many other characters who surround them!
Harper is so feisty and cute at the same time. She is instantly aware of Gage, but she really tries maintain herself when an "us" situation is developing, a struggle many of us experience.
This is such an engaging book! I am such a blue ridge university fan that its a testament to Kritas story telling that I am equally absorbed into the Billionaire world! Cannot wait for the next book!
This book is a masterpiece! I was so excited for this book and it was perfection! I absolutely adore Gage and Harper. Both of the characters were written so well. Harper will have you rooting for her from page one and it won’t take long before you are swooning for Gage. I love their love story so much! I am a sucker for a good grumpy sunshine romance book and this did not disappoint. I I devoured this book in one afternoon and can not recommend this enough!
