Okay, let's talk about Fated in Ruin, and all I can say is: Malachi. Fucking. Draven.
“If this world hurts you, Evangeline, I will burn it all down until there is nothing left. Anyone who harms you, anyone who raises a hand against you…they will cease to exist.”
𝙎𝙮𝙣𝙤𝙥𝙨𝙞𝙨:
Holy shit!!! I’m not going to spend too much time on the plot. All you need to know is that it picks up exactly where Fated in Secrets ended. Malachi Draven has gone full "Rhysand" on our dear Evie, and now she’s forced to spend a week with him in his palace while he tries to persuade her that he’s not actually the bad guy. And she is not happy about it. She wants to kill him the first chance she gets because, up to this point, he’s basically backstabbed her, Rohr, and Blake at every turn. She is so done. She has teeth, and she wants to use them!

𝙏𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙁𝙚𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨:
I’m really happy with how this book turned out. A lot of the issues I had with Fated in Secrets were finally addressed. I understand now why Evie was written the way she was in book two. It made space for her transformation here, and it gave her room to grow and start learning how to use her magic. She’s no longer the crying, helpless girl. She starts to own her power. While she still doesn’t fully understand what she can do, she’s no longer hiding from it. She’s embracing it, and in doing that, she’s starting to feel whole. That’s what I loved most about her character arc, that it really felt like Evie came full circle.

And then... we have Malachi fucking Draven.

Thank the gods we’re no longer being teased, taunted and edged with the sexual tension between him and Evie... because if I had to go one more book without finally seeing Malachi’s dick, I would’ve screamed. The teasing is over! The edging is done! They finally get together. And it is fireworks! It is fangs! It is absolute perfection!!! Such a big part of Evie's growth was due to Malachi. He helped her see what she needed to do to step into her power. He helped her understand what was required to claim it. He supported her like a real partner should and he pushed her to grow into the best version of herself. He also helped her realise that what was missing in her life might just be him.

He might actually be my favourite of the boys. I adore him!!! He has this sexy, almost broken-hero appeal that just makes you love him, no matter how flawed he is. He’s powerful, determined, and hellbent on taking down his maker, but he needs Evie’s help to do it.

There are definitely parts of his personality that did irritate me at times. He often tries to go it alone, solve everything by himself, and then ends up needing the others to bail him out. But honestly, I think that’s great foreshadowing for the bigger message: the four of them are stronger together. If they’re all aligned, they’re almost unstoppable!

We do get more of Blake and Rohr, and while I still adore them... and Blake’s “she is mine, don’t fucking touch her” attitude was cute and protective... they were absolutely overshadowed by Malachi in this book. Malachai was this book! He’s what made it so good! There’s no other way to describe it...he stole every scene and made me care in a way I didn’t expect.

This book filled in a lot of the gaps I wanted resolved in Fated in Secrets, which now really feels like it suffered from “middle book syndrome.” I know this isn’t the end of the series, but it felt like we finally built up to a major turning point. I can tell the final book is going to blow me away!!! The entire book has explosive pacing and is extremely fast-moving. I still feel like every chapter feels like an episode on TV with new twists, challenges, or a new revelation that’s driving us toward the final showdown in book 4.

I didn’t expect some of the twists. I didn’t expect where the story was going. But I’m not disappointed in any of it. It was epic and set up the final book beautifully. If this was the warm-up, I cannot wait for the finale.

The only letdown for me was the lack of spice. Or rather, the lack of the amount I was hoping for.
I mean... if you’ve got three men all vying for her attention I expected more. I get it, they’re at war and in constant danger and I don't expect them to get freaky all over the place. But still... a girl can dream and I was hoping for a bit more heat. And honestly, I am desperately hoping that with the way things are building, we are finally going to get a scene with all four of them. That would be the cherry on top and I am salivating to experience it!

This next installment of the Nocturne Vampire Clan was everything. Gods, I love Malachi 🔥🫠 Each book just keeps getting better - the stakes higher, the spice spicier, and the males possessive-ier haha 😆

“I would take away all your pain, fix all your broken edges, because even though you don’t think you do… You deserve love and laughter and happiness. You deserve everything, Malachi.”

I absolutely adored this book, and let me tell you, the scream that I scrumpt when a certain someone made an appearance at the end!! 😱😍

This story begins where Fated in Secrets left us. Evie is under the control of bad boy vampire Malachi. Malachi is moving Evie like a pawn across a chess board.

As secrets were revealed this book gave us a completely different view of Malachi and his machinations leading up to the events in book 3. The attraction and chemistry between Evie and Malachi was white hot. They both know they’re bad for the other but the heart and soul want what it wants. Now I’m dying for book 4 because I need to know how Evie plans to navigate her new reality of loving three very different men. Malachi has found himself firmly perched at the top for me after his true feelings for Evie are revealed.

Be sure to check out Fated in Blood and Fated in Secrets before grabbing this one.

What you get:
- why choose
- vampire x vampire hunter
- enemies to lovers
- forced proximity
- badass FMC
- will burn the world down for her

My Thoughts:
Oh no, no, no, that’s so not cool. LA really just left me hanging with a cliff hanger. And not only a cliff hanger but without even giving me a glimpse of the new Malachi in action. 😈 LA you can’t waive candy in front of someone with a sweet tooth then walk away… that’s just mean.😂 If you can’t tell, I loved the book.

I am ready for book four now please! That ending was very simply put phenomenal, the events leading to the final showdown were breathtaking, every single breath, action, and word created a story that was unputdownable. Frankly I need more, as quickly as possible, there are so many questions left unanswered and so many fates left undecided. Malachi Draven, Malachi damn Draven, what a character arc! From villain, although an admittedly hot one, to something more, especially to Evangeline, their tales woven so firmly together, their fate fixed with one another. If you’re looking for a new vampire series then this one should be an absolute go to, plied with reverse harem, steam, enemies to lovers, blood play, shadows daddies and all the grovelling these books pack a punch and are amazing.

We begin this story directly following the fallout from book two, with Evangeline being taken by Malachi away from Riordan and Blake. A deal struck, one week in his castle to do whatever he wants with her, a deal made for all of the right reasons, to protect everything she loves and holds dear. With vengeance in her heart, and every intention of not being a damsel in distress but saving herself from this monster Evie fully intends on killing Malachi herself first chance she gets. However, Malachi’s intentions are not as nefarious as they first seem, and when he reveals the truth behind his actions sides must be chosen and plans laid to stop an evil that could kill them all. With the irresistible and forbidden attraction between them growing by the moment, hidden powers grow and threaten with a cursed monster at the heart of it all with only one path to defeat it. Evie must play the game, filled with deceit, passion, power and stakes that are higher than ever to save everyone and everything, racing against time and a prophecy that feels inevitable who will Evie trust when the chips are down and will she follow her heart or her head.

The characters for me are what truly makes this series what it is, you are emotionally invested in their well being and lives so very quickly. L.A. McGinnis has taken the time in these books to fully explore the characters and the dynamics between them, which develops slowly over time, we have come so far to get to this point in Evie, Blake and Riordan’s relationship and it is so very interesting when Malachi and his feelings for Evie come into this dynamic. For me from very early on they have felt inevitable, but there has been a long journey to get to the point where we can see past the monster he so very clearly tries to be. Like I mentioned at the start of my review, Malachi goes through an incredibly character art which is most prominent within this story, one that very much focuses on him and his past and I could not get enough! I was here for every second of his insatiable interactions with Evie, but their dynamic aside, I absolutely adored watching Evie come more into her own, harnessing her powers and her badass attitude. She takes what she wants, and is such a commanding presence, a fabulously written FMC that you can’t help but root for. The multiple POV in place that includes both Blake and Riordan provides an amazing aspect to the story, with different points of view providing us with aspects of the story that further enhances it.

Aside from amazing characters, the story is positively mind blowing and pulse pounding, with an evil threat looming at every turn our group of characters must learn to work together because there is no defeating it alone. The pacing was fast but fitted with the high stakes nature of the story and everything the characters stand to loose if they fail. L.A. McGinnis continues to build on the amazing world and lore carefully created in the previous two books, with further information being provided to us about the history of the clans and bloodlines. The careful crafting that is woven through the book to tell us a story of passion, love and danger is evident throughout leading us to that mind boggling conclusion that will undoubtedly leave you craving more.

Thank you so much to the author for sending me an e-ARC to read and review.

I was already a fan of Malachi from the previous books, but this book made me love him even more.

Evangeline is still a sassy badass, and her and Malachi have the perfect dynamic, resulting in another brilliant book in the series.

The twists thrown in were completely unexpected, and I can't wait for the last book to find out how this amazing story will end.

“I tipped my head back, searched those caramel eyes, full of such catastrophic pain, then pressed a soft, chaste kiss to his lips. “You deserve love and laughter and happiness. You deserve everything, Malachi.”

Thank you L.A. McGinnis and Clare Harrison for sending me this ARC ❤️ I seriously finished this book in a day 😂🫣😳

Evie is back and more vicious than ever. Her magic is unbound–her first order of business? Decimating the male who kidnapped her from her mates. You better run Malachi, while you still can…

“Even now she was plotting a hundred ways to kill me, all of them slow, painful and creative enough to make me rethink my entire plan. Not that I had any other choice....Two hours in and I was already doubting I’d succeed, which has to be some kind of record. I'd overthrown all of Rome and never felt as outmatched as I did right now.”

These two come to a tenuous agreement, because of course, someone–cough, Silas, cough–had to abscond with the big and, surprise surprise, Evangeline is the only one who can save the world. Can't a girl catch a break? I'd rather spend my days with my hunky vampire mates, too. World be damned, but I digress. Evie is too moral for that.

She spends only a couple of days with him in his home, learning, at the very least, to try to control her magic because it's evil, cruel and has a mind of its own... She finally makes them obey, and listen to her, eventually.

“Bloodmoon magic isn't just dark magic–it's something far, far greater. At its core, this is necromancy. The power to command death itself.”

The more time she is with him, the more his carefully crafted masks begin to fall–she's seeing the real Malachi. It's not until he essentially sacrifices himself, ensuring she gets away safely, Evie truly realizes her life would be awfully empty without him in it…

“Because this was… something else. Something ordained and forbidden and deep, a tangle of tightness and curiosity that combined, made me want to press my lips to his.”

Then there's the prophecy, Ravok with his whole macho "needing to dominate the world" and needing all the power. Evie and Malachi… have all the power. You know how things go when someone tries to control, Evie, right? Or hurt someone she loves? She. Goes. Feral.

In all of her wonderful chaoticness, she says screw your prophecy, and screw you. I'll ruin your best laid plans kind of thing. And she freaking does.

“No. No.” Ravok paced, his face transformed by rage “You will not stop this. I’ve waited lifetimes, I saw my destiny,” he screamed. “You both belong to me. You are mine. Mine.”

So, one threat is neutralized and she doesn't lose anyone she loves, yet, but the impending apocalypse just doesn't give up. We will have to wait until Fated in Forever to see if she actually saves the world, or will she, or her mates, end up burning the world down for each other? I, for one, am looking forward to finding out.

L.A. McGinnis has done it again! We picked up right where we left off with that intense cliffhanger from Fated in Secrets, where Evie is separated from Blake and Riordan and is in the clutches of Malachi (who she definitely intends to 💀 at her earliest convenience). While you might think you know what Malachi has in store for Evie and how that week is going to unfold? You’re wrong 😂…the plot twists, suspense, and action will have you on the edge of your seat!

The deal: one week in Malachi’s castle to do whatever he wants with Evie.

Evie made a deal with the most untrustworthy, borderline ancient vampire for all the right reasons: to protect her family, her mate who has given her his heart and the king that she loves. Her ulterior motive? To find the perfect opportunity to slide a knife between Malachi’s ribs and end his twisted games for good.

But, not everything is as it seems and Malachi Draven has been hiding some truths that forces Evie to choose sides when there is a bigger villain at play that could destroy everything. As the forbidden attraction grows between Evie and Malachi, she’s thrown into a game of chess where power, passion, and peril slide around on the board with ease–bringing her closer to the cursed monster only she can defeat.

In whom should Evie place her trust? The males who lied to her to secure their kingdom? Or the thief from the shadows who’s determined to burn it all to the ground?

Fated in Ruin was filled with action and plot twists I did not see coming! The magicks used were impressive and the descriptions McGinnis painted of our villain and his minions definitely gave you the ick and made you want to get rid of these guys ASAP! I really enjoyed the relationship development between Blake, Rohr and Evie as the guys had to come to terms with not trying to control her every move (I mean, Evie’s impulsive decisions are what make her, her, and keep the crew heading in the right direction in defeating their enemies). In all transparency, I am not 100% Team Malachi just yet, he still has some character development to reveal for me to believe in all of his claims – I’m itching to get more of his arc in the final chapter! Looking forward to Fated in Forever!

Thank you to L.A. McGinnis for making me part of her ARC team and bestowing upon me an advanced copy of Fated in Ruin!

Fated in Ruin release date - 5/26/25

The third installment of the Fated series is nothing short of sexy and layered with danger, sin, and possibly irredeemable regrets! More spice, more magic, and even darker evil in store for Evangeline and her hot vampires!!

Evie has been taken by Malachi Draven, and she struggles with trying to outmaneuver his sinister genius while also resisting the inexplicable pull towards that genius. Evie is also trying to get down to the truth to who (and what) she is, which is an all-powerful witch whose destiny is linked to Ravok, the power-crazed Ancient determined to make Evie his. There are SOOOOO many layers and secrets to Evie’s destiny, and Malachi is leaking those secrets out as slowly as a trickling faucet.

Surprisingly, it is revealed that Malachi’s obsession with Evie is multi-faceted, and he is actually in love with her. It comes to a head when she can no longer deny that she needs Malachi; and wheeeeeew, does she give in! We finally get to see how incendiary Evie and Malachi’s connection can be! VERY hot!

It was a bit relieving to see that, though Evie is still impulsive, she has grown confident enough in her choices to execute the plan until something positive happens. The aftermath of her coupling with Malachi was surprising. I do enjoy seeing a complicated heroine get what she deserves, which, in this case, is seemingly limitless, untapped power; and irresistible vampires desperate to fulfill her every desire. Blake and Rohr are irritated, but ultimately accept that, in some way, Malachi is supposed to be a in important part of Evie’s life going forward.

It also is absolutely NO surprise that the book ends with the cliff hanger that it does. But whew!! What a cliff hanger it is! I was wondering when dragonfire was going to come into play, and Eldric’s powers were DEFINITELY a pleasant surprise. I LOVED seeing how the throuple’s powers combined and intensified when fighting Ravok and his thralls. I was also disappointed that Romulus is still alive and kicking.

As usual, sex scenes definitely do NOT disappoint! I continue to revel in the Evie-Blake-Rohr throuple! I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Evie and Malachi have their moment, and I can’t wait to see how this ends!!

I received an ARC copy of Fated in Ruin and all comments and opinions given are of my own creation. I received an ebook copy in exchange for an honest review.

“The thought of holding you again like this was the only thing that kept me breathing.”

Okay, WOW. Fated in Ruin picks up right where the last book left off and holds on WITH DEAR LIFEEEE—with Evie making a deal that feels more like dancing with the devil (is that so bad if it’s Malachi? HA!). One week with Malachi Draven, the powerful and manipulative vampire who betrayed her. It’s supposed to be about keeping her loved ones safe, but this time? She’s also playing her own game—and Malachi isn’t the only one with secrets!!!

The dynamics in this book absolutely EXPLODEDDD. Malachi’s layers are peeled back, bit by bit, and suddenly he’s no longer just the evil villain—we see the centuries of pain, the buried truths, and the beautiful, messy, magnetic chemistry he shares with Evie. Meanwhile, Blake is losing his mind with worry, and Riordan’s holding tight to his crown and power as everything around them crumbles… apparently Evie is the only way the world survives these days!!! Watching all three men grapple with their feelings for Evie while facing off against a world-ending threat was emotional CHAOS in all the best ways. The plot twists had me HOLLERINNN, and the magic system just keeps getting more intense with every new reveal.

Evie has me in such a chokehold!!! She’s one of my all time favorite FMCs at this point. She’s fierce, impulsive, loyal to a fault, and absolutely refuses to back down–HELLOOOO strong INDEPENDENT woman!!—even when the odds are stacked sky-high. Her growth, especially with how she handles the power she’s discovering and the complicated feelings she has for all three of HER men, was so raw and rea… I’d probably be asking myself why choose as well! HA! But that ending… that cliffhanger?! I was prepared for a cliffhanger… I was not prepared for L.A. McGinnis evil!!! I need book 4 immediately.

An especially HUGE shoutout to LA McGinnis for allowing me to read and review this book and for the amazing bookmail I received. I uploaded that video earlier this week - but here are the links:

You won't want to put this down

A fantastic continuation of the Nocturne Vampire Clan series, with each book just getting better. A fast-paced vampire why choose romance with a kick-ass female lead and three males who will do all they can to claim/protect her. Full of plenty of banter, spice, high stakes, magic, prophesy, intrigue, vampires, witches, enemies-to-lovers, OTT obsessive mates, multiple POVs and steamy romance, this is one I really couldn't put down (I love the wit from Eldric).

“You were born for this magic, Vicious. I have never met anyone as strong and brave, but you are also powerful, in ways you do not yet know. You are going to rock the stars in the sky, Evangeline, and I cannot wait for the day you bring this world to its knees.”

Following on from Fated In Secrets Evie has been taken by the traitor, Malachi (Kai), and Blake is struggling to deal with losing his mate. But all is not what it seems and you can't help but fall in love with Malachi (if you didn't in book 1). He's wanting to help her with her recently realised magic, though it might be greater than anyone realises.

"Evangeline was too strong, her magic too powerful, and my own magic…
I reeled backwards as the truth hit me.
Right now, my own magic was no match for hers.”

Ravok, now out of the box, is hunting them and wants Evie for himself, but her males will do anything to keep her safe, though they can't seem to stop her taking things into her own hands. But there are tensions in the castle as well, with Blake and Rhor struggling to accept Malachi in Evie's life. Oh, and Eldric is determined to follow his heart as well.

A brilliant read that lets you feel emotionally connected to the characters. Though it ends on a cliffhanger, it's lovely to see some particular vampires again, and I can't wait for the conclusion to this epic series.

Thank you L.A. McGinnis for sending me a copy of this book to ARC read, I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Troupes:
🩸 Slayer vs. vampire king
🖤 Smexy, angsty morally gray vampires
🩸 MFMM romance
🖤 OTT obsessive mates
🩸 Multiple POVs
🖤 Enemies to lovers (of course)
🩸 Hot villains
🖤 Romantasy
🩸 Fast burn why choose

Firstly, a huge thank you to Laura for sending me a copy of Fated in Ruin to read and review.

I love the Nocturne Vampire Clan series so much!!! Fated in Ruin takes place immediately after the events of book 2, Fated in Secrets and we're back with the absolute badass that is Evie as she reels from Malachi's betrayal and all of his previous scheming that came to light at the end of book 2. The big bad, Ravok, is loose, Evie is forced apart from her mate Blake, King Rhor and her sister Angel, facing new and unfamiliar powers that have reawakened, whilst also having to contend with Malachi alone.

Whew. There's so much to these books which is why I love them. Power games, scheming, witches, vampires, magic, prophecies, battles....argh!! Laura weaves in so many different elements expertly and you are completely immersed in the story, which is not only incredible but so well paced. Even more than that, I LOVE that as we follow Evie on her journey, we are still getting more of the world Laura has built revealed bit by bit in book 3. It's so well done and several times left me proper open mouthed.

I'm a huge Malachi fan so I really enjoyed the focus being on him in this book and watching the trust and relationship develop between him and Evie. Malachi is a mirror to Evie in that he is broken, vulnerable and alone, though he tries hard to portray otherwise. Some moments between him and Evie in this book had me sobbing. I loved watching their initially fragile relationship build and strengthen into an unbreakable bond of love and trust.

Don't worry though, we still get to see all our other favourite characters as the story progresses - I think Eldric has to be my favourite side character, I bloody love him!

Laura blew me away with this book, I don't want to say too much because of spoilers but for most of the last 50 pages I was just like...wait WHAT? Poor Laura got a barrage of DM's from me about how much I loved it. I cannot wait for the conclusion of Evie's story and more of all the characters I've come to adore so much in this series.

If you love book series with badass FMC's, vampires, magic, the baddest of villains, awesome side characters, amazing MMCs (yes there are multiple and they are ALL PERFECTION), a well paced, incredible story with fantastic world building, then you need to pick up this series.

Evie made a deal with the devil. She will always sacrifice herself for the ones she loves. One week with Malachi. One week with the monster she can’t stand, the one who betrayed her, the one she hates that she’s inexplicably drawn to. Fated In Ruin is the third installment in the Nocturne Vampire Clan Series and just like the books before, I am obsessed. These books are the perfect mix of romance, spice, action and intrigue. L.A. McGinnis keeps you on your toes and never lets you rest while reading.
Malachi is complex. The bad boy with a heart, and a hundred lifetimes of regret. The tension between Malachi and Evie has been brewing and when they finally crash together it is INSANELY hot and everything you have been waiting for. Evie will have to come to terms with her feelings for him, but she also has to convince him that he deserves love just as much as anyone else.
Nothing brings a family together like a common enemy, and it will become clear that in order to defeat Ravok this unlikely group of allies must put aside their differences to protect what’s theirs. Watching these characters start to become a family is heartwarming and everything you’ve been waiting for. The banter between Blake, Rohr and Malachi is hilarious. Rohr and Blake have to come to terms with Evie’s new abilities and the fact that they have to let her make her own decisions. The growing pains are perfect and only increase the anticipation of the ending.
Evie’s absolute refusal to accept anything other than the happy ending she believes they all deserve is what makes her one of my favorite FMC’s. She will fight witches, thralls, vampires and fate itself to protect her family. There is one more book to conclude this story and I can’t wait to see how it all ends. This series has my heart and I think you will enjoy it too if you are a fan of:

🌙 Paranormal romance
🩸 Why Choose
🌙 Fated Mates
🩸 Enemies to Loveres
🌙 Touch them and ☠️
🩸 Found Family
🌙 Betrayal and Redemption

I’m spoilt for choice for words to describe this book…dramatic, suspenseful, definite page turner, danger and surprises throughout…and those SMUTTY chapters were delicious!

I spent part of this book hating Evie and screaming “what the hell are you doing???” Moreso when it came to her evolving relationship with Malachi in his castle. I wanted to give her a slap for betraying Riordan and Blake…it seemed like she jumped straight in with no thought for either of their feelings. Then felt bad afterwards but not bad enough to at least try to keep Malachi at arms length. Angels reaction was hilarious when she was forced to be their chaperone and it got a little steamy.

Also wanted to shake some sense into her for charging into battle without the guys…a little hypercritical, especially when she had so much to say about them leaving her out of their plans in previous books.

When Ravok first attacked Malachi’s castle, and almost took Evie I actually noted that “Blake was going to double kill him”. It made me so happy when Blake and Riordan finally had their showdown with Malachi…I was really disappointed when Evie stopped it! How nice it must be to have 3 guys fighting over you, yet she didn’t appreciate it!

Eldric surprised me with that dragon fire magic he had…did he not feel the need to use that in the battle at Crimson House?? Maybe that battle would have turned out differently if he had! And maybe Angel would have fallen in love with him for it!

I loved how Ravoks plan all fell to pieces in those final chapters…so much for seeing the future! Can’t wait to see what happens next!

"Nobody [...] had ever looked at me like that. Like I was the foundation of their entire world."

ok WOW L.A. McGinnis you've really done it - this book was everything I needed from this series and so much I didn't know I needed ❤️‍🔥

I am OBSESSED and need the next book asap

We get more world building, a big bad enemy, a love triangle/square, enemies to lovers, morally gray MCs, very spicy scenes (MFM) and a really entertaining fast-paced plot that made it hard to put the book down!
4.5⭐️

Tbh I was not a Malachi fan after book 2 at all and was not happy he was added to the men obsessing over Evangeline (still not getting that) but oh my was I wrong.
Never have I been so invested in enemies to lovers #teammalachai over here 🔥

"There were always flowers." "Because I wanted you to see something beautiful when you woke, especially when things were so grim."

In the last book I did struggle with the amount of spicy scenes and found myself desperate for some more plot and world building and L.A McGinnis delivered.
(Obviously it even got steamier but who am I to complain at this point because even these scenes are so well written)

"something loves trancended the boundaries we created to make sense of the world."

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Thank you L.A McGinnis for that! After ARC reading the other books I just couldn't receive this once fast enough.

The way these books just keep coming with barely any time in between is insane and I am loving it!

I think this may be favourite of the series so far as Evie is well on her way to becoming a force to be reckoned with. Her development is coming on leaps and bounds as she recognises so much of herself in Malachi and she had some genuinely sweet moments with him when they both let their guards down. After than game changer of an ending I'm intrigued to see where this goes next.

I loved the twists and turns in Malachi's backstory; his subplot was woven in really well without relying on heavy exposition. This was very much his book with Blake and Rohr being relegated to bickering over Evie's absence for a few chapters but after the events of book two, Malachi had a lot of explaining to do! Rohr's growth is starting to peek through too as he respects Evie's wishes even if it is going against every fibre of his being and trying to encourage Blake to do the same. Blake was really not my favourite in this one (until one act near the end). Rohr also won best one liner with "then I guess its you and me" which genuinely made me laugh. Eldric, however, is my favourite scene stealer though; his pursuit of Angel was some great comic relief when Ravok was executing his villainous plans.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read

“Your blade, Evangeline. Always your shield, always your blade, ready to kill your enemies, so you remain in the light.”

A whirlwind of a ride, this spicy why choose vampire fantasy with witches, shadow daddies, fated mates, betrayal, forced proximity and forbidden romance. All kinds of banter, magic, prophecy and of course a bad-a$$ FMC!!! As this is the 3rd installment, I highly recommend reading the first 2 prior to reading this one. And as always, don’t forget to check the triggers!

This part of the story continues with Evie, Mal, Riordan and Blake as they navigate their relationship, their dynamic and the roles they each play in each other’s lives… all while a certain vampire seeks to annihilate the world. Faced with impossible decisions, betrayal and a foe that seems like she is the only one who can defeat them, she is at the brink of destruction.

Book 1 and 2 were SO addicting, and book 3 did not hold back. It was just as good if not better. LA’s writing style is truly one of my favs, the flow, the pacing, the descriptors, the dialogue… masterfully crafted! Easy to read making it hard to put the book down. The cliff hanger is a breath taking, the twist and turns will keep you on your toes, and the spice will have you 50 shades of red.

“I would take away all your pain, fix all your broken edges, because even though you don’t think you do… You deserve love and laughter and happiness. You deserve everything, Malachi.”

Fated In Ruin is book three in the Nocturne Vampire Clan Series. It is a paranormal, enemies to lovers, why choose, vampire romance with action, intrigue, mystery, steam, betrayal, war, prophecies, and more.

This is the best vampire romance series that I've read in quite a long time and it just keeps getting better and better with each new book.

Evie is taken by Malachi, but he may not be the dangerous enemy they all believe him to be. There is so much family history that Evie has no clue about and in this book she discovers plenty of new information. She also learns some of why Malachi is the man he is, what's important to him, and she gets a view into his past, which reveals something very surprising.

Evie shows quite a bit of character growth, physically, emotionally, and mentally, as well. Her relationships with her men also grow and change in a big way.

I loved the epic and spellbinding battle scenes and the many relationship struggles that were emotional and enlightening. I adored the characters and loved all the surprises. This book was unputdownable and a page turner for sure.

The plot, pace, and flow of the story are terrific as are the characters, character development, relationship development, storyline, storytelling, writing, and world building. I absolutely loved this book and would definitely recommend it. I will be excitedly awaiting the next book in this entertaining and addictive series.

I was in need of a a good spicy vampire book and it’s like the arc gods knew I needed this book right here.

I stumbled upon the Nocturne Vampire Clan series via a new release tour for book 1 and never turned back. I am a LA McGinnis convert and I now need to read my way through her backlists.

We pick up in Fated in Ruin on the heels of our favorite Vampire trio having just the most epic bad luck. Seriouly, Evie, Blake and Riordan were putting out fires the entire book. Then we get these new revelations about Malachi, who I had been routing for the whole book and I was just left with my mind in shambles.

So now Evie is whisked away with Mal, Blake is going nuts because his mate is with this traitor and Riordan is seething but actually decent at talking Blake off the ledge and seeing logic. On top of that we have a supreme bad vampire out to destroy the world and really sh!t goes down.

Not only am I just completely invested in this story but I love McGinnis’s spicy writing. She gives us the epic vamp story we want, emotional connection to the characters and then adds in the best RH spice.

I can’t wait to see how this story wraps up in book 4! Thank gods it comes out August 2025!!!

If you love spicy vampires and a why choose storyline, then what are are waiting for?? Start this series today!!

I can not express enough how much I love this series! I gobbled them all up so quickly it's not even funny.

This is the 3rd book in the Nocturne Vampire Clan Series, and it picked up exactly where Book 2 (Fated in Secrets) left us.

I had a love/hate relationship with Malachi in the first 2 books. I could tell her cared for Evie but then he did some messed up stuff to her to manipulate her. I had a feeling L.A. McGinnis was gonna try to make me fall for him too, and I wasn't sure if it was possible... apparently it is! The character development in this series is top-notch.

As soon as I got his POV, I he won me over. The way he sees her, appreciates her, believes in her... it was beautiful.

"beneath that anger lay a looming power capable of decimating my carefully constructed world."

I love Riordan and Blake, and I know they truly love Evie, but they don't see her the same way. They want to lock her up and protect her, which I get why, but it only pushes her away. Riordan at least seemed to learn his lesson from trying it, but Blake... not so much. Malachi, though, he sees her as the smart, cunning, strong, capable woman she is and all the sacrifices she has made for everyone else.

The twists and turns in this one are amazing, and were pretty unexpected! A lot happens that you absolutely do not want to miss. As well as the fantastic spice😉

L.A. you really know how to leave a girl hanging!! I cannot wait to see what happens next in the conclusion to Evie’s story.

Fated in Ruin, Book 3 in the Nocturne Vampire Series, picks right up from the ending of Book 2. Evie has been forced into a bargain with Malachi and they all must work together to figure out how to stop Ravok.

Evie does not trust Malachi one bit and wants to get back to Blake and Riordan but she also must figure out how to control her magic and unfortunately Malachi is the best one for the job. But Ravok is growing stronger by the minute and it is going to test all of Evie’s relationships with these men of hers as they all work together to stop him.

I loved getting to see more of Malachi in this story, secretly (not so secretly) he has been my favorite since he walked onto the pages and my heart just ached for him, trying to push everyone away by being the villain. However, Evie begins to see there is more to him than meets the eye and realizes she needs him in her life much to Blake and Riordan’s dismay.

But as they try to stop Ravok, who always seems 2 steps ahead, a storm is brewing and come the rain they won’t be the same again. After the ending I am anxious to see how their story is going to unfold and cannot wait for Fated in Forever!

This is the third book in the series; as usual, it did not disappoint.

I love that Evie, the strong female lead character takes no flack from her partners. They may be Alpha males and she may listen to their suggestions and demands, but she'll decide what's best for her and those around her because of her background, and see perspectives they may miss. Evie has to make strong, snap decisions, some of which may upset her partners, but they are made from her heart and her head, to keep those she loves and holds dear protected from Ravok.

Evie, Rohr, Blake, and Malachi, need to come together and work as one. Well….that's if Rohr and Blake don't kill Malachi first! Trust between the three males is low after the plotting and backstabbing that Malachi has done in the past. But Malachi may have done things that he is not proud of, but through it all, all he wants is to keep Evie safe and alive.

We have a fast-paced, steamy, funny story that proves that love, friendship, loyalty, and some family can be the strong ties that are needed to keep everyone safe.

The story leaves us on a cliffhanger and the completion of it will be in the next book. I can't wait to get my hands on it!!

The counterbalance.

A RH PNR with Vampires and Magic
Book 3 in the series.

This is a very dark book, full of secrets, battles, and unexpected twists. But it also has plenty of steamy and funny moments. A medium to fast burn romance.

In this book, we get second chances and enemies-to-lovers dynamics.

Our FMC is a total badass and a survivor—once human, now a new vampire with hidden powers. Despite everything she’s been through, she still sees the glass as half full. She loves as fiercely as she fights. Her wit and hilarious cynicism manage to make us smile, even in the darkest moments.

The MMCs are vampires too, each with unique personalities and troubled pasts. Can they find common ground? Will they even get the chance?

They’re constantly under attack—fighting, loving, and trying to protect the people they care about. Since book one, they haven’t had a break. It’s one thing after another, and it keeps getting more intense.

Will they win this new battle? One thing’s for sure—they’ll need every weapon, every bit of cunning they’ve got.

This book is a constant rollercoaster of “WOW!”, “What now?”, and “Something’s not right…”

"And the ending? A cliffhanger that leaves you desperate to know what they'll do next."

So this is at minimum the 11th book I've read by this author. I really shouldn't be surprised by the twists and turns in each book. This book was pretty much nonstop action. It can be summed up with the following questions...

Can it really get any worse for the characters? Yes.. so much worse. The answer is always so much worse.

Will he ever die??? Or is he like an eternal cockroach that you can never get rid of??? Why does this apply to multiple characters?

Is it possible to squeeze in some life affirming spicy times between trying to escape death? It's always fun to try.

Will Blake, Riordan, and Malachi kill each other before the apocalypse?

Will Evie kill Blake, Riordan, and Malachi because they can't stop the measuring contests and bickering?

I loved watching how Blake and Riordan deal with Evie's growing relationship with Malachi as they all fight to survive.

This book does end on a cliffhanger.

Like with other books by this author, I do wish that each book had a recap of the events from the previous book as each storyline is pretty complex with so many characters.

From page one, I was hooked. The tension between our fierce vampire huntress and her enemies-turned-something-more is chef’s kiss—dark, electric, and emotionally layered. The "forced proximity" angle inside the castle was a stroke of genius; it amplified everything—desire, danger, and those impossible choices that make you feel the stakes.

What really stood out was the character development. Our FMC is no damsel—she's razor-sharp, strategic, and carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders. Watching her wrestle with loyalty, love, and vengeance had me flipping pages like mad. And the love interests? Possessive, morally gray, and complicated in the best way.

The world McGinnis has built is darkly lush—bloodlines, betrayals, supernatural politics. I felt immersed in every scene. And yes, the spice? Turned up to 11. If you like your romance with heat, heart, and high stakes, you're in for a treat.

This book is for you if you love:
-Vampires with agendas
-Hunters with vendettas
-“Why choose?” dynamics that actually work
-A heroine who will burn it all down
-And, of course, lots of “touch her and die” energy.
The series just keeps leveling up. I’m already desperate for Book 4.

This is the third book in the Nocturne Vampire Clan series, a paranormal vampire romance (with dark romance elements) about a vampire hunter who becomes what she’s hunted. Thank you to R&R Book Tours and the author for the paperback ARC. My thoughts are my own.

Tropes and themes include:
✨Enemies to lovers
✨Political/court feuds
✨Forbidden romance
✨She saves him
✨Why choose (mfmm)
✨Shadow daddy
✨Mind control
✨Fated mates
✨Forced proximity

Rating: 4.5/5 Stars 3/5 Flames
Nicknames: Silver, Vicious, Little Slayer

The Lovely: This book is a strong third installment in the series and we see large leaps in the historical lore and significantly more understanding in how the current situation came to be. I love this depth and how the FMC works to put the pieces of the puzzle together.

The Mundane: This book focuses a lot on one MMC and I struggled to get on board with him. He’s very much in his self-blame and martyr era, which is in contrast to how we’ve historically seen him portrayed. I think some of this is character growth (and letting his mask slip), but to an extent it just doesn’t feel like him.

Recommendation: The story ends on a sort of not-exactly-a-cliffhanger but not a HEA either (not that I expected a HEA in third book of a series). I’m excited for the next (final) book in the series, coming this summer. If you like a paranormal, vampire romance with a twisty plot and elements of dark romance, this book is for you.

ARC Review

This was my favourite book of the series so far!

I loved the development of Malachi’s character and also his relationship with Evangeline. I think Malachi actually has the most depth of character after this book and he has swiftly become my favourite!

The plot merges the high stakes drama of book one perfectly with the more emotional turmoil we saw in book two to create an exciting story you can’t put down.

The cliffhanger of this book was the worst for me so far, in that I can not wait to see what happens next.

Themes/Tropes:
Vampire Romance, Paranormal, Ancient Evil, Good vs Evil, Hero’s Journey, Dark, Tragic Backstory, Emotional Scars, Fated Love, Afraid to Commit, Age Gap, Billionaire/Royalty, Forced/Close Proximity, Love Triangle +, Polyamory, Magic, Witches, Vampires & Multi POV.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

5/5 🌶️

Fated in Ruin was absolutely awesome! It’s the third book in L.A. McGinnis’s Nocturne Vampire Clan series—and honestly, the best one yet!

I love a filthy, dark vampire romance, and Evie and her vampire harem torched the pages. 🔥 Holy hell, the steam in this book was next level! I’ve been obsessed with the ancient Malachi Draven since book one, and he did not disappoint. Sexy, dark, and just the right touch of villain—gets me off every damn time! 😈

Blake and Riordan bringing that possessive energy added the perfect twist, making this a deliciously wild ride from start to finish.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: if hot alpha vampires are your thing, you need to read this series—and everything else by L.A. McGinnis. Her vampire predators are some of the sexiest out there, and the sex scenes? Steamy, raw, primal. But it’s not just spice—there’s also love, action, suspense, and some seriously evil vamps to keep you on edge.

I can’t wait for the final book in the series. Until next time, luvs! 💋
