The Chase: A Novel (Fox and O'Hare) by Janet Evanovich & Lee Goldberg -- Sidekick

Rate this book
*Note: Our sidekick is an accompaniment to "The Chase," not the novel itself. Lee Goldberg and Janet Evanovich bring you their next exciting adventure, "The Chase," fresh on the heels of "The Heist." This sidekick breaks down the bizarre protagonist pairing and shows you why it works. Nicolas Fox is one of the world's best con men. The only person to catch him? Agent Kate O'Hare. They team up to go deep into the underground world of crime to catch those who claim to be "untouchable." The first target is a former Chief of Staff at the White House: Carter Grove. Use this sidekick as your literal "guide" to understanding the many dynamics occurring in the novel. Grove's crime in "The Chase" was stealing a Chinese artifact. If the crime goes public, relations with China could disintegrate. Kate and Nick must use their skills to recover it, but it doesn't seem like a fair fight. Grove has trained assassins, while Kate and Nick have a crew led by a nerd, an actor, and a bunch of old guys, including her dad. In "The Chase," the pursuit takes all those involved for a roller-coaster ride around the globe. Does Grove have what it takes to outsmart what could be the most dynamic duo ever formed? This sidekick discusses the main themes of the novel, which are wealth and power, two things that Grove has far too much of already.

Enjoyable beach read. Certainly not great literature with its preposterous plot but if you're in the mood for something light and humorous you might want to give it a go.
