Much Ado About the Three of You

Rate this book
Tidy Tris Turner is a one-man woman, so how did she end up juggling three?
Nothing has been right since Tris’s almost-fiancé, Richard, dumped her. Now her life is so spun around that she’s landed in a “thing” with her childhood nemesis, Max, while crushing on his best-friend, the sexy, yet capricious, Andy.
Growing up, Max adored teasing Trissy-Tris by annoying her with nicknames or by farting next to her at the bus stop. Anything to provoke a response. He never expected his favorite reaction would be her panting his name while she’s pulling his hair.
Andy had always believed in love at first sight, but hadn’t experienced it until Tris showed up. His heart wants him to lay her in a bed of rose petals, and kiss every part of her over and over, but his head is forcing him to give her the space she needs to heal from breaking up with Richard.
Though Tris yearns for Richard’s return, she’s strangely attracted to pothead Max while also swooning whenever perfectly pressed Andy enters the room.
If muddling through that mess isn’t enough, Tris must shed her obsessive tendencies to become the carefree big-city woman Richard wants. In two months, she’ll get her chance to wow Richard with her transformation at her best friend’s wedding. In the meantime, Tris can’t let Max, Andy, or her libido derail her plans in this quirky and irreverent comedy inspired by Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing.

Why? (spoilers)

I need to start off by saying that the overall experience while reading this book wasn’t at all what I expected. Typically I only write reviews if I love a story so much I can’t help myself, or the story itself made me feel like I needed to say something of the adverse effect. Unfortunately, this book is the latter. Let’s get into it.

There were a few funny moments that actually drew a laugh from me, but in the end, it all made me upset I even put myself through this in the first place—Which breaks my heart because I don’t enjoy putting authors down, so hopefully that’s not the take away here.

The writing itself was fine. It’s edited well enough. There wasn’t any real issues unless you look into the nitty gritty of the story.

A book this length would typically take me a couple hours to read and it somehow took me the span of several days to finish, needing to mix it up with other reads (and a couple audiobooks) in between start to finish.

The FMC is funny at times but also kind of a delusional nightmare and if I were dealing with that nonsense in real life, I’d be furious and quickly make my exit from their life.

The men in the story are all ridiculously unattractive. Richard isn’t anything to write home about. Andy is the only one who seems like he can act like an adult, but then can’t have sensible conversations when it really matters. Max is not really redeemable, as he sleeps with other people while sleeping with Tris and he can’t often be taken seriously.

The whole thing is like watching a train wreck as you navigate the mess that is Tris in all her deluded glory. Her relationship dynamics with her family, her partners, her friends, and strangers alike are painfully uncomfortable to experience. Her outbursts are strange. The word “oneness” and mentality that goes with it is gag inducing. And when you finally reach the end of this insanity, she settles, even though she’s lackluster in her enthusiasm for her “choice” from start to finish. There was no real character growth. There was no true resolution for main characters. And honestly, there just weren’t any defining emotionally charged moments that made you want to invest yourself in this world. All the relationships felt “meh”.

All in all, I thought this would be a cute and funny read, and in some ways I can see why it would be for some people. Unfortunately it just wasn’t my cup of tea, nor my shot of whiskey. I wish the author luck and success in her writing adventures and I hope people find and love this book in ways I simply couldn’t.

Onto the next!

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 I’m actually giving this book 3.5 stars. The good… All the characters are flawed, realistic, although at times overly annoying and whiny. At first Tris’ obsession to get Richard back is so frustrating and just makes me want to slap her out of it. She’s whiny about it, talks constantly about it to everyone, and was just so annoying to me I wasn’t sure if I could finish the book. However, as she starts to hang out more with Max, a friend from childhood, her sister Shayna and girlfriend Grace, as well as Andy, another roommate, she starts to change in the sense that she starts to somewhat forget to obsess over Richard. I like that there was also family drama between her divorced parents and how realistic that was. I also liked the fact that per usual there isn’t that heavy miscommunication trope that is so prevalent in rom coms. I also liked that she admitted a lot of the fiasco that happens later is her fault, not anyone else’s, because boy was it time for her to put on her big girl panties!

With all that said, what I didn’t like was that at points in the book it just dragged. Especially the beginning. Tris also just made some really dumb choices which seemed a bit excessive to me at times. Also it just bothered me that Andy was so anti-communication, like, talk it out dude! But I guess that’s more like reality.

Good read, and I would definitely recommend.

A well written, stand alone romance. A story that is both relatable and frustrating. Our main character is Tris who is struggling with what her vision of the way life should be verses the reality. While relatable, its still frustrating to watch her continue to board the crazy train whole we the readers and the other characters in the book wait for her to figure it all out and voluntary deboard. While I loved thrre was a HEA, I think it felt rushed and didn't fit with the "oneness" love and chemistry Tris claimed to believe in through out the read. Overall a good romance. So.e great funny, mishaps that brought some humor as well as some cringe worthy moments as well. Great growth with our main character especially but also in other areas of the read. Excited to see what's next for this author.

This was an enjoyable read with well written main characters, supporting characters and family issues.
Tris broke up with her high school sweetheart Richard and wants to win him back. She moves back into her family home where she ends up with 4 housemates including her sister.
Also enter Andy and Max who she has known since childhood.Everything gets very confusing for her she finds Andy very attractive and thinks he is perfect,Max offers to help her on top of it all her sister is not happy with her.
She is trying to juggle 3 men not knowing what she wants and trying to sort out her family issues and she has her best friends wedding on top of all that.
She does eventually figure it all out and gets her happily ever after with lots of laughter and tears along the way with a what are you doing moments in there.

4.5 stars.
This book started on a funny note, and I was looking forward to more (mis)adventures of Tris and who she would end up with. There were moments when it felt like the story dragged on, but then it would come back with a witty comment and get me back on track. There were a few twists and turns, and I wasn't sure where I was being led - which is a nice change from when you can pretty much tell from the start.
For me, it would have been 5 stars if it weren't for the times when I felt a lull in the writing. Overall, it was a quick, fun, flirty read!

Oh my, this one touched a few heart strings. Tris is trying to finish grad school, shortly after her best friend's engagement, she finds herself being dumped by her boyfriend of nearly 8yrs. The rest of the story is magnificent. Tris is trying desperately to find herself and what she wants from life. Family drama does not help clarify things or feelings. Cute, feel good romance which while being an uplifting read also rings true. I was sad that the story line with Andt wad never clarified and do hope to read his HEA at some point, and also want the end story for Shayna and Grace.....

This story is zany in all the good ways. Tris has been dumped and it trying to find her way back to the guy she thinks she needs in her life. On the way, as she is trying to address that guys wants she spends time with two others who throw a wrinkle in her quest. Who will she wind up with? What does she figure out about herself? With humor and food for this story was a delightful read that kept my interest throughout. I needed to know how things would turn out for Tris.

When Tris is dumped by her highschool sweetheart, she ends up back in her family home trying to reinvent herself to win Richard back. It’s obvious to everyone apart from her that he isn’t really worth it.
I thought the writing was generally good and not the usual predictable romance. I did however think it was a bit samey in the middle and my interest waned a little. On reflection probably a 3.5

The great thing about this book is that it scratches that rom-com itch while also managing to surprise you. Much Ado About The Three of You knows why you love this genre, and it knows how to turn it on its head while still giving you what you want. Strong, well-defined characters in zany situations. What a fun ride.

original

The plot was original. I couldn’t guess ahead what would happen. That was refreshing. Not five stars because it seemed to lack closure, BUT that was surely leaving some for the next book. A light read. Have fun with it.
