Fun Read!

Beautiful photographs but having the opportunity to see it all in person and in action on a windy day in The San Gorgonio Pass. Giant monsters spinning at incredible speeds almost appearing as if this piece of land mass is going to takeoff and fly.

Historical photo I enjoyed, a then Palm Springs Mayor Sonny Bono (formerly of Sonny & Cher) and his wife Mary Bono welcoming President Ronnie Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan to Palm Springs December 29th 1988. Sonny Bono had just won the election that made him the 16th Mayor of Palm Springs. Significance:
It served as a symbolic crossover between two prominent entertainment icons who transitioned into politics. Mayor Sonny Bono welcomed the President and First Lady as he began revitalizing Palm Springs into a renewed culture and political hub.

Factoid I enjoyed:
Bigger is Slower!
An important consideration for wind turbine is how quickly the tips of its blades move. The larger the rotor diameter, the faster the blade tips move for a given rotor speed.

For Example,
The newest wind turbines in the San Gorgonio Pass are Vestas V117 machines with rotors 25% longer than a football field. They achieve blade tip speeds of 165 miles per hour at a leisurely 12 rotations per minute.

If I’m remembering correctly Preventative Maintenance was performed on one by Mike Rowe on Dirty Jobs. I’d like to find that episode and watch it.
