Vicki Hinze, USA Today Bestselling Author Jake Cameron won't risk hurting his best friend by admitting he loves her. Little does he know . . . that's what hurts her the most. Zoe Callahan, pregnant with the child her ex-boyfriend doesn't want, adores her ramshackle new home in the seaside town of Tide's Way, North Carolina. Despite Jake's efforts to hide his feelings, he and Zoe quickly form an unbreakable bond. Zoe discovers love hasn't given up on her, even if the father of her unborn child did. Now she just needs to figure out why Jake is so determined not to let the heady attraction that sizzles between them turn into something more than friendship. Skye Taylor releases some serious talent in this light, summer read. Who wouldn't want to be Zoe, meet Jake, be a Cameron? Falling for Zoe is solid in its storytelling and character development, and I can see readers new to Skye Taylor falling for her and her abilities to write a satisfying romance with a feel-good ending. Very nice job.
***ARC from NetGalley in Exchange for an honest review***
Jake is the good (hot) handy-man type guy we all want to live next to (And yes, ogle) . Nice, helpful, loving, lovable. Zoe and Jake start out as good neighbors. He helps her with her fixer-upper, she helps with his chaotic family. The falling is gradual and mired in the day-to-day. The characters and situations are totally relatable and written very engagingly. This was a one-sitting read for me. The only nitpick I have is that while yes, there are a@@holes out there and certainly, Porter is one, it seemed he was used only to provide a (very stark) contrast to Jake’s goodness.
Skye Taylor has crafted a deeply moving, emotionally rich love story that is impossible to put down. From the moment Zoe Callahan arrives in Tide’s Way pregnant, vulnerable, and determined to start over you feel her hope, her fear, and her quiet strength. Pairing her with Jake Cameron, the devoted father and gentle hero next door, is pure magic.
What makes this book truly special is its authenticity. Taylor writes with a warm, compassionate style that gives every scene emotional weight. Jake and Zoe’s relationship builds slowly, tenderly, and believably. Their bond is filled with unspoken longing, sweet moments of connection, and the kind of tension that makes your heart ache in the best way. The complexity of Jake’s responsibilities and his fear of risking his family’s stability adds depth to his character and makes his struggle incredibly compelling.
Zoe shines as a heroine. Her resilience, kindness, and bravery as she faces motherhood alone make her someone you root for wholeheartedly. Watching her discover a love she thought she’d lost forever is both uplifting and deeply satisfying.
The secondary cast Jake’s daughters, his close knit family, his mother in law brings warmth and depth to the story, creating a community you’ll wish you could step into. And when disaster strikes, the emotional intensity ramps up beautifully, showcasing Jake’s heroism and Zoe’s courage in a way that left me breathless.
This is a romance overflowing with heart: real struggles, real healing, and a love that feels earned and unforgettable. Skye Taylor delivers a story that is tender, hopeful, and wonderfully human.
A truly captivating read absolutely deserving of five stars.
Zoe Callahan was the oldest in the family and had pretty much raised her younger siblings alone after her mom dies, her father was always working. Now it looked as though she would be raising daughter the same way because her ex-boyfriend didn't want anything to do with her or the baby. Moving out on her own, going against her father's wishes of keeping the baby and using her own money to buy a house was scary but at least her new neighbor seemed really nice not to mention easy on the eyes but what will he think of her when he finds out that she's pregnant and unwed?
Jake Cameron was a single Dad of three girls, a teenage daughter and twin four year olds. He also lived with his ex- mother in law so he had a house full of females. The last thing they he needed was one more to throw into the mix but he couldn't help but offer his help to his new neighbor Zoe. The house that she bought had been vacant for a while and it needed a lot of work. As much as he liked her looks and her personality though, he was determined to not get involved because the last thing that he needed because he wasn't willing to take the risk. His ex-wife had really done a number on him and his girls and he just wasn't willing to take that risk again.
This was the first book in the Camerons of Tide's Way Series. A large close nit family that lives in a small seaside town. I had first come across this series when I was given book three as an ARC from Netgalley and fell in love with the characters so I went back and purchased the other books that I had missed and let me tell you, I am so happy that I did. Ms. Taylor's writing style is great, the story line was interesting and believable and I just loved the characters. This will defiantly be one of those series that I follow through to the end.
I have to say Skye Taylor was great in this book. I loved the whole temptation between neighbors and trying so hard to be just neighbor’s vibe. Jake was a goner right from the start when Zoe first moved in. These two were perfect for each other and exactly what they need. One is starting over in life for the first time and the other is trying to stay in control considering chaos is knocking on his door. Skye Taylor definitely has a way in romance and like I said tempting these two beyond their control. I loved it and definitely can’t wait for more of the Cameron family.
love this book...and after being dumped with no reason and feeling like everything in the past was pure list, Jake thought that love was not real. until zoe moved in he had no problem with it being just him and his girls but the moment zoe moved next door electricity flew between the two and with nightmares from the past and her being pregnant with another man's baby things were said and don't that was hurtful and loving. this book brought tears to my eyes and a few laughs I totally recommend this series to anyone.
Falling for Zoe is a delightful and refreshing read that is perfect as your falling into summer, falling into bed, or falling into your dreams. You'll simply fall in love with Jake and Zoe. It's so wonderful to find out that chivalry isn't dead and there are still a few good men out there. Jake is all you could want in a hero and Zoe is adorable. You're sure to enjoy Skye Taylor and all that is on the horizon for this talented writer.
I got so entranced by this story I had to dump everything to finish it. Beautiful and funny, with characters you root for. I loved the family dynamics and the humor, and the way handicaps were portrayed, with so much warmth and acceptance. Despite the fact that I prefer tighter point-of-view, it didn't in any way detract me from enjoying this book greatly. I'd recommend it without hesitation, and will certainly read the rest of the series.
This book brings you a story about Jake and Zoe, who fall in love slowly but fully. It takes you through the up and downs of the relationship, of them each conquering their fears. It shows you how each of them have to grow separately before they can grow together. Its a truly inspiring story and instills hope. For my full review check out: http://allnightbooks.com/?p=213
Falling for Zoe has all the elements of a good romance. It's the story of two people who desperately need to be loved for themselves. We've got falling down historical homes, a pregnant woman with no husband in sight, and a construction worker/volunteer firefighter with three daughters and a mother-in-law with Alzheimer's. Get ready to laugh and cry with this one!
A cross between romance and women's fiction, Falling For Zoe will not disappoint readers of either genre. Jake and Zoe's story is unique with a few twists that keep it interesting. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
You totally see it all coming from miles away, and some of the conversations aren't all that logical (rather they force the plot along) but it wasn't half bad for a romance, really.
