The Secrets We Keep: A Riveting Small Town Kidnapping Mystery

Rate this book
Every small town has a secret...

Not much happens in Deerfield, Connecticut. The sleepy little town nestled at the foot of Taconic Range near two pristine lakes is the stuff of Hallmark movies. Picturesque town square, friendly neighbors, the changing seasons… but Deerfield’s small-town charm will lose its allure after a girl goes missing. Family secrets will be exposed, old wounds will be reopened, and lives will be turned upside down as past and present collide.

Perfect Title

This book has more twists than the dance of the same name. 99 percent of the people in this story have secrets and many of them huge.

The main character is a John Corey type but with more control and a less testosterone. It's a good mix and I enjoy John Corey. The big bad is a bit out of left field but I enjoyed this story.

great mystery with well developed characters and several plot twists

I really enjoyed this book. This is the first book from this author that I’ve read. I’m a mystery fan and Harlan Coben is my favorite author. I love multiple plot threads that are folded together into surprising twists that all come together in the end. This book did that. There was a 20 year old murder, a recent kidnapping, a mob connection and a number of secrets being held by several of the lead people but, Mr Hunt brings it all together in a satisfying ending. The characters were well developed. The author made me feel sad for some of the characters who had done or were doing bad things. That’s awesome. If you like a good mystery with multiple plots and twist, you will enjoy this book.

The Perfect Whodunnit

Despite the author’s overuse of the word ‘had’(a personal pet peeve), this is the best mystery I’ve read in a long time. A teenage girl is missing. Everyone is suspect. And everyone is guilty—of something. Trying to figure out who the culprit is will keep you on the edge of your seat.

a very suspenseful thriller

The twists and turns in this plot continue to produce more and more suspects. A must-read and engrossing mystery due to the author's skill at writing a swift paced story with ongoing suspense.

The bonds of love

It was a mystery from beginning to end, I had trouble putting the book down. It was interwoven with the past and the present. The mystery was unravelling at a fast pace. Love, lost love, and secrets, you don't want to miss.

Secrets We Keep -

This was ok. Extremely unrealistic at times but towards the end it picked up and instead of giving it the two stars I was going to give, I bumped it up to 3.
