This books was a broad introduction to anxiety, and dealt mainly with different disorders. I was hoping for more advice on milder forms of anxiety, though I do have some tips to try at home. Still worth the read if you think your child is struggling with anxiety.
This book helped me talk to my son about his anxiety and gave us tools to help cope with it. I used some of the strategies with students as well. Very helpful
Decent read on how parents can help kids with anxiety. Has some good tips. I felt was more for younger kids than older. Also does a nice summary of different types of anxiety.
I read this when my son was in 3rd grade. His situation is much more mild than the children in the book, but it was still useful. Most helpful of all for us was the Dragon Brain / Wizard Brain bit, an extended metaphor that worked then for my Harry Potter loving child and works now, even though he's largely no long affected by significant anxiety.
A good explanation of what anxiety is and how it is felt & manifested in kids. Some good treatment ideas, but I'm looking for more specific plans / ideas and more focus on cognitive behavioral therapy rather than understanding problem. A good intro book if you suspect your child might suffer from anxiety. A quick read.
This book is ok. Might be great for kids with a lot of anxiety. She goes on to describe anxiety as a dragon who lives inside you and your anxiety is what it feeds on. not a huge fan of her description, maybe something less scarey. has techniques for counting, medication and therapy.
This book was helpful to understand anxiety in kids. However, my purpose was to find out about anxiety in teens. I did take away some tips and ideas to use in my elementary school class.
