Rust Canyon #2

Coming Home Country

Rate this book
At eighteen, I left my hometown in the rearview mirror, vowing to never return.

Ten years later, my best friend is getting married, and I have to make a set foot back in Rust Canyon, where painful memories of the past lurk around every corner, or let down the only person who’s always been there for me.

I convinced myself it would be fine, that I could put my blinders on and make it through a single week.

Except one very important detail wasn’t brought to my attention until it was too late. Tucker Grant, the reason for my self-imposed decade-long exile, is the best man to my maid of honor.

I wish I could forget that he’d promised me forever, only to rip the rug out from beneath me when he married another woman. But that teenage heartbreak shattered my heart, and it hasn’t been the same since.

Though when the truth comes to light, it has me questioning everything and wondering, can one spark reignite an old flame?

*Coming Home Country is the second book in the Rust Canyon series but can be read as a standalone.

Siena Trap

Siena is originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where a love of sports is bred into a girl's DNA. Her love of romance novels came early as well. She would often accompany her romance reviewer mom to book lovers' and romance writers' conventions, where she sat in on workshops and met numerous best-selling authors. It wasn't long before she was filling notebooks with her own stories, which often starred herself and a certain real-life prince.

As luck would have it, she met and married a handsome athlete instead. After several temporary residencies in multiple states and Germany, they finally settled in Michigan, the land where youth hockey reigns supreme.

Her stories no longer feature herself but draw from her past experiences as an educator, businesswoman, fashion consultant, and world traveler when creating her strong heroines. “Oh yes,” she says with a wink and a smile, “There are bits of me in all of them.” Now, she spends her days writing happily ever afters for fictional characters and her evenings at the local hockey arenas cheering for her three children.

A rare case of it's not you it's me. I think most people will love this one. I WANTED to love this one. The MMC is very swoon worthy, like others have said. I just....couldn't.

The circumstances leading to their breakup were bad, and since everyone likes to mark their reviews as spoilers without leaving helpful (or any) spoilers, resulting in my curiosity making me suffer through this one, allow me the honor:

These two are childhood sweethearts, soul mates, they're each other's One True Loves, everyone in their town knows they'll end up together, blah blah blah. She's 2 years younger than him so he goes off to medical school alone and after one drunken night, wakes up naked next to another woman.

And instead of asking her questions or going to the FMC or doing anything at all about it, he kept it to himself and agonizes over it for weeks, until the woman comes to tell him she's pregnant.

SO HE IMMEDIATELY MARRIES HER. Like immediately, no questions asked.

And the FMC, who still thinks nothing is wrong and that her boyfriend is planning to marry her and start their dream life, gets told over the phone the next time she calls him that he's married. Just like that, no hello, must blurting it out.

And when the woman doesn't want him to mention the pregnancy to his family and then suddenly has a miscarriage, he thinks nothing of it. Asked no questions before marrying her, asked no questions when she didn't want it announced, asked no questions when she secretly had a miscarriage.

Mind you, this guy is in medical school....

And for 5 years he stays married to her, happily fckin her even though he wants to be with the FMC, until he hears the OW laughing with her friends about how she not only baby trapped him with a fake pregnancy, but also drugged his drink that night he was out with his friends and he hadn't actually slept with her.

And then even 5 years after the divorce (so 10 years later in total now), he still doesn't want to face the FMC with the truth. He has to be coaxed into doing it by everyone around him.

Anyway, I just wanted more from him. He said like 20 times some variation of how he was going to go get his woman and then the tiniest thing would set him back or stop him completely. He didn't fight for her until the end and even then he had to be literally told what to do by his sister and her husband whose biggest regret was not going after the sister after their own argument years earlier.

This guy is just willing to let everything happen TO him without taking charge of his own actions or even asking basic questions like, "is the baby mine?" Or "can I come to a doctor appointment with you?" before blowing up his entire life and marrying a stranger. Smh

And don't get me started on the the reviewers saying the FMC should have gone after HIM and everything would have been solved. Girl what? I know you're not saying that someone who had their significant other suddenly marry someone else during a long distance relationship should be the one who fixes That.

But while I'm talking about the FMC, it's one of my biggest pet peeves in romances when authors allow the FMC to move on after the heartbreak of her life...but only with an asshole. She can't ever be happy with someone who isn't the MMC and she can't find ANYONE that is halfway decent in 10 whole years or else the entire genre would implode or something.

It's easier to accept the very dubious cheating that takes place in this book (not quite physical, but at the very least, emotional cheating) because the OM is an asshole. It's easier to accept her split second decision to drop him for the MMC because he's an asshole. And she can also give up her entire life for the MMC once again because the life she has in [insert any other city] wasn't as fulfilling as what the MMC offers her now that he's decided he wants her after 10 years. 🙄🙄🙄

But hey, he built himself her dream house down to the last fixture she wanted even though he never planned to go after her...and now that she's forgiven him after one conversation where she also didn't ask for proof of his far-fetched explanation, it can be hers too, so there's that.

Short epilogue that shows nothing useful of their future. I despise that.

This one is tough because I can really get behind a second chance romance if it’s executed correctly, and on one hand Tucker was the perfect besotted H just BEGGING for another chance… the reason for the breakup was so dumb, but I still could forgive him. It's just there were all these missing bits that left GINORMOUS plot holes. It also plays out low angst and low drama which is the main reason I read this genre.

Bex and Tucker were childhood sweethearts that had plans to marry. They were desperately in love when he suddenly announced over the phone one night (he was away at college) that he was married. The book picks up TEN YEARS later with her returning to their hometown for the first time to attend her BFF’s wedding.

I can’t really review this without spoiling the breakup reason, so please stop if you want ZERO details. He does start talking about it in the second chapter, but we don’t get all the facts until later on.

I’ve been following Siena since Feuding with the Fashion Princess- and have loved every single book and live that there’s a connection between this group- extended but it’s cute to see the lives growing and going through ups and horrible lows. This one follows Bex and Tucker- yes that blow up against the doctor in book 1 finally gets a backstory and wow good one! I loved every second and read in a day- loved it!

Siena can write the hell out of a swoony romance, and this one was no exception.

Bex and Tucker’s love story started out when they were in high school in small town, rural Oklahoma. Their relationship ended in a heartbreaking way - for both of them after Tucker had gone off to college.

Before they both buried the hatchet on what happened all those years ago, they reunited at their friends’ wedding in their hometown. Tucker being the small town doctor helped him “save the day” for Bex and was the perfect set up for those giggle and kick your feet moments.

The characters had a natural chemistry that made this story fun to read but also made you feel like you were intruding at the same time, cause the spice was spicin’.

The moment reminiscent to “The Notebook” brought tears to my eyes, and Bex’s sassy banter had me cracking up - especially when she read an excerpt from a smut book out loud to Tucker. The story really brings all the feels.

Highly recommend for a sweet, swoony, small town romance!

What to expect:

💟 Childhood friends to lovers
💟 Slow burn
💟 Doctor x lawyer
💟 Small town
💟 Pining

I absolutely loved Bex and Tucker. Siena weaves such a beautiful heartfelt story that just hits you in the feels from page one and keeps on the whole way through. The Main characters and their friend group are so well written I felt like I was a part of the story. I cannot wait for the next book in this series.

A huge thank you to the ladies of Luna Literary and Siena for allowing me to be a part of this ARC team. I’ve been a fan of Siena for a while and I absolutely love her writing. I really enjoyed the novella that kicked off this series and have been waiting not so patiently for Tucker and Bex. Our introduction to Tucker in Festive Faking made me think he deserved to be slapped, but, I’ve since changed my mind. Tucker and Bex’s entire story sends you on such an emotional ride. Regretfully separated, then forced back together with all of these little twists made this story such a fun read. Tuck finally being abler to make his declaration of love had me in literal tears, and Bex’s growth as a character is beautifully done. You guys have to check this book out when it’s released on March 25th!

Siena has done it again. She is in her small town era full swing. This second chance romance was so swoony and had my giggling and kicking my feet the entire time. I am obsessed!

Bed and Tucker had so much chemistry it made this story so addictive to read and hard to put down.
Bex was absolutely hilarious with her sassy banter. She had me cracking up multiple times…when she read that smutty scene to Tucker!!! 🥵 I was so happy when she finally decided to walk away from what’s his nuts bc let’s face it he just sucked!
Then there is Tucker. This man has always been so far gone for Bex. He literally melted my the moment he came onto the page. The way he knew he fucked up and would do anything and everything to win Bex back. Plus excuse me….that mouth on him. I had no idea but I loved it!

Cannot wait to for the next Rust Canyon book! If you love small town, swoony romance I highly recommend this series.

Thank you so much for an ARC of this book. I absolutely loved this book and couldn’t get enough of it! The story of Bex and Tucker had me saying “just one more chapter” until it was over 😭 it was quick, easy to read and follow, was heartfelt. My only complaint is that the ending felt rushed and I wasn’t ready for it to end 🤣 4.5. Strongly recommend and can’t wait to read more from this author!

This book was really cute. I really need to read the previous books! The characters were refreshing. They knew how to have fun but also had their softer sides.
This is a second chance romance for Bex and Tucker. They had some unfortunate events that changed the course of their plans together. But they've created new lives for themselves. Things change when Bex goes back to her home town for the first time since her life changed. I loved the communication between the characters. They put their hearts on the sleeve and it left me in tears

I’m usually a fan of second-chance romances but the reason Tucker and Bex needed one in the first place was ridiculous at best. You’re telling me he learned the truth and then just… didn’t tell her for ten years? I was happy they eventually got their HEA but wow the journey there was frustrating to read.

That said, I did enjoy the writing style, the characters and the cozy small-town vibe. And I’m definitely intrigued by Penny and Tripp’s story, so I’ll be continuing on to see where that goes.

First I love that this book is intertwined with Festive Faking! I loved that book and getting to see that storyline continued through Bex's POV is the best. I'm soooo glad we FINALLY got to find out that happened between Tucker and Bex!!

If you love a good second chance romance or small town romance you gotta read this book!! You can read it as a standalone BUT I think it way better if you read Festive Faking first to meet all the characters and get background on Aspen and Mac ❤️

Thank you to Siena for giving me an ARC copy of this book!! I can't wait for the next book :)

Whenever I know there is a new Siena Trap book going to be released, I ALREADY KNOW it is going to tug at my heart strings and make me fall all warm and fuzzy inside. Especially that this time around, it’s a second chance romance between Rust Canyon residents Bex and Tucker.

Coming from Festive Faking, the mystery as to what happened between these two was on my mind, for real, and I NEEDED to see them have their happily ever after. And BOY was it a journey to get there! I can understand Bex’s mindset as to why coming back to Rust Canyon was a difficult time for her, considering that the reason why she didn’t come back would be standing in front of her looking HANDSOME AS HELL and not to mention DAMN FINE AND SHIT. Like, who wouldn’t drop their panties for DOCTOR Tucker Grant? And the way Tucker yearned for her, and no one ever compared to Bex for him? OH. MY. GOD. Everything he did? Everything he went through? My heart broke for him and fell in love with him AT THE SAME DAMN TIME. But how could I not mention the spice and smut in this book WAS ON FUCKING FIRE. It was ELECTRIC, SIZZLING AND OVERALL GOOD FUCKING LORD HEAVENLY. Tucker can talk to me like that ANY FUCKING DAY. Oh and Mac and Aspen’s involvement in this?! IT WAS SO GOOD.

As always, the little cameos and mentioning’s of previous characters just make my heart warm. It’s always SO GOOD to see them again. I also need to shout out Meemaw because she was such a hoot! And I cannot WAIT for the next book in this series being Penny and Tripp! Their love story has been much needed THROUGHOUT THIS ENTIRE SERIES, and I am so glad it is finally happening!

I absolutely loved this book! I typically don’t like to read about second chance romances, usually they are stuck too much in the past and don’t focus on the current relationship, but this one was so well written! You are able to easily fall in love with the characters, you get to experience their small town love, and there is a HEA. I only wish the story continued more after they were together so we could soak up more happiness 🥹

I love everything about Rust Canyon and cannot wait for the next book in the series to come out!

✨ ARC REVIEW ✨

Siena 🤝 Second Chance Romance

After reading Festive Faking, and Aspens outbreak on Tucker last Christmas. I was absolutely stuck on the mystery of Tucker and Bex’s relationship and how it all went south.

Bex and Tucker’s love story was a whirlwind from start to end… and then restart. 😉 With their relationship starting in high school and ending in such an abrupt way, all the way to them finding each other paired at their best friend’s wedding after 10 years apart.

Coming Home Country was such a swoon worthy read that tugged on your heart strings while also keeping you on your toes, unable to put the book down. Not to mention the spice and chemistry was OFF THE CHARTS with these two. 🥵🥵🥵🥵

Siena never fails when writing and I am truly so blessed to have to opportunity to do another ARC Read for her.

P.S: who wouldn’t get on their knee’s for Dr. Tucker Grant 🥵😍

She is now engaged to Aaron (her coworker) and hasn’t gone back to her hometown in 10 years. It’s her best friend’s wedding that draws her back to her roots as she’s the maid of honor. Her best friend didn’t tell her Tucker was the best man. Now they have to interact with each other for the wedding. Can he get her back with his southern gentlemen charm? Or will she marry Aaron?

REVIEW:
I was so lucky to be able to receive an ARC of this book. I personally love a country-ish feel book. This was giving Sweet Home Alabama vibes and I’M HERE FOR IT. I read this in one sitting. It’s fast paced, kept me interested, sweet & spicy, and quite literally had me giggling and kicking my feet like a second grader. I ate this UP. There’s nothing I would’ve changed about this book. There isn’t any spice until about 65% and that lets you focus on the plot. Tucker had me blushing and feeling all the feels. I can only a hope a man talks to me like that…🥵❤️🥹

I didn’t think this book would make me cry but I’m a mess 🥺Second chance romances hurt so freaking much.

My heart broke for Bex, Tucker was her one true love and he basically smashed her heart to a million pieces 💔 I was so anxious to read the actual story of what happened and when Tucker finally told her, well Jesus it hurt so much.

Tucker never stopped loving Bex and even though he had broken her heart because of something that was out of his control, he knew once he saw her again he would never stop fighting for her.

He is protective, obsessed with making Bex his again and has a dirty talking mouth 😍 what’s more to love.

Bex was amazing and seeing her be herself again with the man she never stopped loving 🥰 it was all too much! I’m a wreck after reading their story.

I just want to dive into the pages and live in Rust Canyon with Tucker Grant.

This was an emotional, heartwarming story about one true love and how your person is out there.

Coming Home Country was a joy to read. This second chance small town romance definitely tugged at my emotions especially the heart break Bex faced losing Tucker all those years and with what happened to Tucker as well. Bex and Tucker were high school sweethearts and then their break up happened and many years later Bex returns home for her best friend’s wedding. This was a beautiful heartwarming story with spicy moments and a cast of enduring characters set in a charming small town.

ARC Review - 4.5 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

First off, thank you to the author for letting me have the opportunity to be an ARC reader. This book was amazing from beginning to end.

While this is the first book I have read by Trap, her writing made it to where even the newest of readers felt for her characters and what they had gone through. While I did not have the background others may have had with these two characters before going into it, I couldn’t help but hurt for Bex and Tucker and what they went through to get back to one another.

I am a sucker for a second chance romance and this one did not disappoint. Bex and Tucker are now up there as one of my favorite book couples.

Can’t wait to dive into more of Traps books!

What an emotional rollercoaster. I LOVED, let me say that again, LOVED Coming Home Country. In preparation for this book, I read Festive Faking: A Country Romance Holiday Novella and the only reason I gave it 4 stars was because it was a novella. Actually, go check out my full review on Festive Faking to understand why I am going to say that, so far, this is my favorite book from Siena Trap.

This book is about the preparation and week before the wedding between Aspen Sullivan and Macallen Blaze. First, since I know you read my review of Festive Faking, you know I love Mac. Well, I actually really liked Mac before, and now I LOVE Mac. He is not only a great guy and a wonderful fiancé to Aspen, but he is an amazing friend to Tucker and provides perfect comic relief. 10/10 on Macallan Blaze.

Mac and Tucker met and eventually became friends in Festive Faking, despite Aspen defending her best friend, Bex. Tucker really did a number on Bex when they were teens and he broke her heart. Unfortunately, it was all do to a misunderstanding but the damage was done. Bex ran away from Rust Canyon, trying to escape her memories, and moved to California for school with Aspen and then eventually moved to Chicago. Now Bex is back in Rust Canyon, for the first time in 10 years, to be the maid of honor in Aspen's wedding, and she has to come face to face with Tucker.

I was so emotional during the first chapters of this book. I literally had to pull out the box of tissues almost immediately and didn't get to put them away until I was a good 35% into the book. Then came the angst and the desire for them to just take a leap of faith. They cleared the air, and now they were just holding on to fear and heartache because that was what they had lived with over the past decade, and they didn't know how to move on from that.
Finally, FINALLY, at the 58% mark, more or less, we got the spice. Man, oh man...did we ever get spice! Dr. Grant...I didn't expect you to have such a filthy mouth. The little country boy learned more than just medicine when he was in Baltimore. And Bex? Did you think that just because she left Rust Canyon as an innocent 18-year-old, she was going to stay that way? No, no, no, no. This girl likes it rough and she did not come to play.

Fan yourselves off, ladies; Siena is not playing around. I thought Goalie Goal: A Hockey Romance was spicey but Dr. Grant told Goose to hold his beer. Sasha may have had more kinks but Tucker does not disappoint. Also, I love that there is a little Easter Egg tying Rust Canyon to the next series of the Bellini Mafia books that Siena has coming out. There is also a link in this book to her other series of the Connecticut Comets and Second-Rate Superstar.

Thank you Luna Literary and Siena Trap for the opportunity to read an ARC of this book.

This was another great read! I loved coming back to Rust Canyon and seeing the characters I feel in love with in the first book. I really enjoyed seeing how the small town and its people welcomed our heroine back.

Bex ran away from the small town life after she got her heart broken at 18. She has not been home in 10 years and her ex Tucker is on the “never mention him” list. So when her best friend is getting married she has to return home.

The beginning of the book was hard. Because it was so obvious that Bex was hurting. She was trying to stay strong but was very affected by her past. So imagine her surprise when she realizes her ex boyfriend is the best man in the wedding.

Tucker made a mistake at 20 years old and it has followed him thru his adult life. He has never gotten over his true love and seeing her again reunites the sparks. After some light meddling from his family and friends he set out on a mission. To win his love back 🩷

The premise of this book is beautiful and I’ve always been a lover of second chance romance. For me I love seeing and reading about characters with complex stories and flaws. It makes them more relatable and real! As always you can expect great spice and strong romance.

I really enjoyed this book and felt like the couple came out stronger in the end. Even though it took them a long time to get there 🩷

The cameos from past books is a treat! Loved how everything ties together in the Siena trap universe!

Bex. Man, I really love the FMC's that Siena writes. I loved Bex so much. She is one of my top FMC's from Siena now. Bex is a very strong, independent, intelligent woman. She is fierce, fiesty, defiant and she is soft, caring and compliant. I always think how I want to be these women when I grow up but they are my age or younger! She Carrie's herself so well. Even though she stayed away from her hometown she loves her town and her people. She's a woman who has her heart and life shattered and ran. Then while she was gone built up these iron clad walls around her heart. I can relate to building walls and keeping people at a distance for my own life, just for different reasons. Bex was just a breath of fresh air with how open and honest and straight forward she is. I just loved Bex so so much.

Tucker. Oh my lanta, Tucker. This man was head over heels, smitten, in love. He is full of regret and what ifs in his life. For me, he is your classic, down home sweet country boy. He also cares deeply about his town and people around him. I cannot imagine being in Tucker's shoes and what I would have done. But the way he fought and didn't give up on the love of his life.

Tucker and Bex. This love story. These two. I love a second chance and their story was the definition of second chance. These two were perfect for one another. I love getting the glimpses of them as teens together, but now seeing them as fully changed and grown adults and relearning one another as just people but also in a relationship. Once they fully got together man it was fireworks while also the sweetest thing. I love these two and their story so much.

Gotta talk about the side characters because I truly feel like Siena writes the best side characters of any book or series I've read. I love these side characters just as much as the MC's! Of course, MeeMaw! She is just the best and so hilarious and straight forward! I cannot wait for more of her as the series continues.

The one who stole my heart this book though was Rose, Bex's mama. I absolutley adored her. Her personality, the emotion she showed, the love she had not only for Bex, but also Tucker.

Lastly- it's so fun to see Siena connect all of her characters together from this book all the way back to Scoring the Princess.

Make sure u read Festive Faking before u read this book

Bex took off from her hometown when she was 18 to escape her demons, but her best friend Aspen is getting married, and she is the maid of honor so she has to go back to her hometown and face her demons head on. She works at a law firm with her fiance Aaron that she didn't love. Tucker was Bex one true love before everything came tumbling down 10 years ago, and Bex left. Tucker is Mac's best man, and gonna have to come face to face with the one that got away. Tucker is the physician now in the small town. Now Tucker has to tell Bex the truth and hope they can rekindle what they once had or he could lose her 4ever. This book is so good. Well, everything, Siena Trap writes is amazing. I have read all her books that she has written and they have never disappointed. I can't wait for the next book in this series.

❤️ Slow burn
❤️ Found family
❤️ Small town romance
❤️ Second chance
❤️ Childhood friends to lovers

Siena is a wizard at writing small town romances, with a swoony MMC.
Coming Home Country was certainly no exception to this!

10 years ago, Tucker (MMC) and Bex (FMC) were childhood sweethearts, and were destined to be together, or so everyone thought.
When Tucker woke up naked in a room with a woman, and has no recollection of what happened the night before, he reluctantly accepts that something must have happened with this woman, and doesn't question when he is told that he is going to be a dad. He does the right thing and marries this woman - and in the process, breaks Bex's heart.
Bex is so heartbroken that she moves away and vows to never return.

Fast forward 10 years, Bex is now engaged and living in the city. Bex's best friend, Aspen, is getting married to her soul mate, Mac, and has asked Bex to be her Maid of Honour. The catch? the wedding will be in Rust Canyon, the town that Bex vowed to never return to.

Can Bex return and face the heart ache she still feels? What if she runs into the man that broke her heart? Can they wipe the slate clean and start over?

It was great seeing Mac and Aspen return from book 1, and Mac's banter and wit is as good as ever.
Aspen's Meemaw makes a welcome return, and is one of my favourite side characters :)

This story is beautifully written, and has you feeling all the emotions. It's a second chance romance that is well paced, light hearted and has some delicious spice.

Cannot wait for more books in this series!! :)

Coming Home Country was my first Siena Trap book, and I have to say—even after realizing it’s the second in a series—I now have to go back and read the first one, and then everything else she’s written! Watching Tucker grow within himself was such a rewarding journey, and the sparks between the characters kept me completely hooked. This book gave me exactly what I look for in a great romance, and I have officially declared Tucker my new book boyfriend.

It was so captivating that I never wanted to put it down. The vibes were perfect. Being from Alabama, it felt so authentic, and the spice? Chef’s kiss! Please, do yourself a favor and read this book!

I really really liked this second chance story between Tucker and Bex!

I felt like I was on an emotional rollercoaster with Bex going back to her hometown for the first time in 10 year and Tucker having some truths he needed to share. I didn't want to stop reading because I just HAD to see away happened!

My favorite part of the story was definitely the slow burn aspects and the chemistry between the two! It was done so well and made the moment when these two finally got together that much more explosive!

Having this series interconnect with the Indy Speed story was a lot of fun! I can’t wait to see more from the world the author is building!
