Seventeen-year-old Reign Hart has finally graduated high school and is ready to dive head-first into the world. Wanting to take a break from school life, she has plans on getting a job to prepare for adulthood, but she knows her mother won’t approve.
Revealing that she doesn’t want to go off to college and wants to get a job instead, Reign’s mother is furious at the revelation. When her aunt Diana steps in and offers her an opportunity to work at her boutique in Saint Louis for the summer, Reign is ecstatic and jumps at the opportunity. However, her mother is totally against her going back to their hometown.
After the murder of her husband, Regina packed up her child and their things, leaving Saint Louis and its horrible memories in the wind. Building a new life in Texas with no family nor friends, Regina sheltered Reign from the world and the secrets her father left behind. Little did she know, she wouldn’t be able to hide the truth forever. Now that Reign is old enough to make her own decisions, Regina realizes she can’t control her life anymore – though she still tries.
Headed to Saint Louis for the summer with all her innocence, Reign has no idea of the fun, drama and secrets that await her. From meeting her first crush to finding out her mother has been lying to her most of her life, she has one hell of a summer. Yet the only thing that balances things out, is her hot boy.
Huncho is a young boss in the streets of Saint Louis, with a team of money hungry hitters under his command. When one of his soldiers is hit in a drive by, he learns he has an Opp from the other side of the tracks. However, the reason behind the beef isn’t adding up.
In the midst of chaos, Huncho meets beautiful, innocent Reign. Giving him a hard time at first, it isn’t easy for him to get close to her. However, when he breaks Reign’s barriers, they form a bond like no other. Huncho quickly becomes her safe space and vice versa. Little do they know; they have way more in common than they think.
Summer in Saint Louis is already hot; but when you add a hot boy in the mix it becomes blazing. Take a ride with Reign as she travels back to her hometown for one unforgettable summer.
This was so good. The way Huncho went after Reign with intentions was great. You could have made it to where people got on them for their young age but you made it real. Don’t want to say but this is on of my favorites from this series,
Initially the title is what reeled me in, I chuckled when I seen it & said I have to read this lol.
This was a good young love hood quick read. 17 year old Reign goes back to her hometown to stay with her cousin & aunt for the summer to work and visit expect her mother Regina has forbidden her from going to the city to see her family due to them hiding a big family secret.
Reign is a true cancer, very lowkey & to herself & keeps her head in a book. She ends up falling for the type of nigga she tries to stay away from ** a hood nigga **.
Huncho is the definition of the type of niggas Reign tries to stay away from but as hard she tried he tried harder to win her over and prove himself, which he did indeed.
Both Huncho & Reign fall in love with each other and bring out different but good sides out of each other. He brings her out her shell & she brings out his soft side.
There was minimal spice within this book as well, maybe like 3-4 quick descriptive scenes then moving on.
I REALLY disliked the fuck outta Regina *the mother* because she was very extra and nasty asf. I enjoyed how mature each character was even tho they were young. The twists and turns within in the book kept me intrigued. I also didn’t like that after every text Huncho sent it has his signature *Huncho*.
All I will say if I loved everything about Huncho!! Regardless of what he did, he was overall a stand up guy! He was about loyalty, respect and love!
As for Reign, she was as green as they come but understood why her mother protected her, however she over did it! She was so in the green she couldn’t ever be with family and didn’t seem as if she had many friends and that was sad!
Overall I was pleased with the outcome besides when Reign got hurt but even with that it changed the dynamic of everyone life and the main one it needed to change was for Reign Mother and new found big brother!
I enjoy this book from the beginning to the end. The sad part about this book was that Regina was not straightforward with her daughter and let her walk in St. Louis blind side because she did not know nothing about her fathers past. Reign was a good, sweet girl. I'm happy that she ended up finding her person and someone to look up to and have her back forever. Honcho was a standup man his father raised him to be amazing man, even though he was about that life. Bluff was raised around nothing but disloyal ass people. but all in all I'm happy everybody found happiness, love, and a real family.
I loved this young love story. Huncho was so mature for his age, and I loved all the gems he stayed telling Reign. Reign was such a good girl, but her mama did her an injustice by keeping her away from her family. I loved Reign's aunt and cousin. They helped her come out of her shell. Unpopular opinion, but I loved Bluff too. Everybody who was supposed to be there for him did him wrong in some way. I wouldn't mind an update from this group, especially Bluff. He deserves a HEA, too.
I guess having a hot boy isn't so bad huh lol great book the twists and lies will have you turning the pages trying to see what the neck is going to come next lol I really love reign Huncho scoob deja and auntie Diana big Babyyyyyy parents will always protect their kids but don't realize the hurt that come with it take a ride with the gang you gone love it
I’m so glad Reign got to experience life away from her mom nd with family. Meeting her brother was great, Bluff may have been a tough guy but he was a softy for his sister. It’s never the child’s fault! Huncho was a real one, not just with Reign but also how he handled Bluff.
That was a great read! I couldn’t put the book down! Reigns summer was crazy and once that secret came out that Reign mom was trying to keep hidden back home got,let me just say this book got emotional. 🥲 This was a great read
Horrible grammar, misplaced, and misspelled words. Use of silly catch phrase words took away from the story. Unrealistic storytelling. Too drawn out. I would give zero stars if possible.
Reign tried to play hard to get, but Huncho wasn't letting up. I'm glad everything worked out for them by the end of the book. If y'all haven't already, check it out. You won't be disappointed.
Some good plot twist in here. Love the realism of the slang and conversations. A true depiction of the toxicity and love that exists in Black communities
The was a good story kept me engaged. I didn't see it ending like that, but it was a happy ending. I do feel like it could have been more. Still a good read!
A lil disappointed there was no spice ! Shh was pg and was not feeling it . I did like the lil twist it had I also liked the MMC Patrick , personality .
