Guarded Hearts #4

Breaking Free

Rate this book
Holly James is trying to move on with her life, but it’s not easy. She can’t stand to be touched by anyone, not even her own family. She is a lost broken shell of the person that she used to be. She realizes that shutting everyone out is much easier then opening up and letting someone hurt her.

Drew Walker is no prince charming. He doesn’t care about anyone but himself and has no intention of changing. He loves the life of excitement and entitlement that comes with being the lead singer of a band, and has no plans to get tied down anytime soon.

When these two meet there is an immediate chemistry. The thing that surprises Holly is that she can tolerate his touch. He makes her feel like herself once again and gives her the freedom and comfort she has been desperate to find. On the other hand he is self-centered, egotistical, and everything that she should stay away from.

What happens when the one person who can save you might also be the person who can break you?

“There was something about Drew, but I had no idea what it was. He was self-centered, cocky, and definitely not prince charming. Maybe that’s why I liked him though. Maybe I didn’t want to be saved by the handsome prince. Maybe I wanted to be corrupted by the evil king.”

**Breaking Free is for mature audiences only—strong language, and explicit sexual content are apparent.**

Este es el libro más estúpido que he leído este año. (y eso que ya leí la serie After).
description

description

Solo lo termine porque era parte de una lectura grupal de facebook, lo bueno que es una historia corta, así no gaste mucho tiempo de mi vida.

The hero was a big fat JERK! He played his childish games and was a control freak.

The heroine was spineless. As soon as the "hero" came near her she was a pile of goo and did whatever he wanted.

When the secrets came out he was horrible how he spilled his beans then even worse when she spilled her's.

The major thing that bothered me was how the heroine dealt with her issues. She never tells a soul what happens. She doesn't let others touch her but the first night she has a chance encounter with jerk face, he's all good to feel her up and she has no problem with that. They don't even know each other at that point. Idk.. it was hard for me to buy.

Ugh. It was like a train wreck. I like the occasional alpha-asshole hero as much as the next girl - but Drew walker took the cake. He was pretty much as douche a hero as I've ever read. But, the real problem is he never redeemed himself for me. He was alway just as asshole. (Even the epilogue where you supposedly see he "gets it" - his level of remorse is like a 3 on a scale of ten when it should have been an 9 at least)

And Holly - gezz. I didn't hate her - but I totally didn't get why she kept going along with him. Or why she though she loved him. She was "in love" after knowing him probably 4 day - and during those four days she found out almost nothing about him except he was a selfish jerk - and good in bed

Their whole relationship lacked any real feeling of connection past the physical.

Not for me.

I was soo excited and priviledged to beta read this book for Alexis. She always does a great job getting the reader to fall head over heals for whatever guy she is writing over and Drew. Fucking. Walker. is not annny different. He is super alpha with a hint of a soft side but will not show it very often. Holly is such a great female character. She is so strong yet broken.

i received this book from the author for an honest review.

Well ladies get ready for Drew. Fucking. Walker. He is gonna knock your panties rightoff. Drew struts, smirks and demands our attention right form the very first time we meet him. He is demanding and charming and a total DB buuut we still fall hard and fast for him. He has alot of demons and a need for total control but is willing to wait and work with Holly on her issues as long as they dont need to work on his issues!!

Holly is soooo broken. She wants to be loved like all her friends and family. That need to find love drove her into the arms of a bad bad bad man who ended up causing some emotion scars. Well Holly is drawn to our dear alpha hottie and cant understand why he, of allll people in the world, she can stand to have him touch her when noone else can.

Well Drew is super controlling and informs Holly that she is gonna be his but not really his girlfriend.....snickers..he wants her around but doesnt wanna deal with her nagging AND oh yeah, he gets what he wants. Well Drew and Holly have some awsome and hilarious scenes..the shower scene still makes me sooo mad for Holly but soo laughing at Drew. The T-shirt scene where Drew tapes his name on Holly to "claim" her...again funny stuff.

the couple have a few tender, unexpected moments in the book that send both spirling because they are both so broken. I will say I messaged Alexis that Drew was in big trouble with me at a certain scene and she giggled in response....meanie!! Then again I was messaging her to cuss at a scene because my heart STOPPED!! This woman was killing me!!

The epilogue was amazing. I LOVED seeing Drews POV after certain events and the reaction of his mom....she is a smart woman. I loved seing Mr. Alpha Hottie sooo nervous. Because he most certainly needed to be nervous!!

Ok one last thing...Did you read Lucas and Becca's book? Well if not, do. If so, they you will get excited like i did. They are in the book!!! I loved seeing them together and getting to catch up on the old friends.

FAVORITE LINE - "What the heck are the two of us doing together? I'm broken and he's....well he's an asshole"

Let me start out that I REALLY love Alexis Noelle's books. The Guarded Heart series is one of my top 15 favorite and Shawn in Fighting to Survive is one of my book boyfriends. Now I know that this book is not OFFICIALLY part of that series, however, in my view it is part of that series. Holly was in those books, her brother who was in Playing with Fire gets married in this book, and the rest of the gang from the series are in the book. So in my opinion, it is part of the series. HOWEVER, you can follow along if you have not read the others.

That being said, this was not my favorite in the series. I did enjoy it, but it did not flow the way that the others did and I just did not feel a connection to Holly and Drew like I did the characters in the other books. This book stars our where Fighting to Survive ends. Holly goes through a VERY tragic event that has changed her POV on life. She hates people touching her and has basicly spent most of her time by herself in her room. She meets Drew and as soon as he touches her she knows that he is different. Holly can stand him touching her and does not feel the pain that she feels from a simple hug from her best friends and family.
Drew is a basic man-whore. He is the lead singer in an up and coming band and pretty much sleeps with a different person in each town that he is in. That is until he meets Holly and he gets way more then he bargains for.

Personally, I think part of the reason that I had an issue is the way that Drew treats Holly. I get that some girls like a guy that pretty much bosses her around and all, but it just seemed like he really treated her like crap. I get that Holly is a bit weak, but she sticks up for herself when she thinks her brother is being a little over bearing, but when it came to Drew she pretty much let him boss her around and telling her what to do.

Ok.

I love
to throw in a shorter read in between all my longer, more in depth stories, but
I usually don't expect much out of the story lines.  But Drew and Holly in Breaking Free caught me
by surprise and captured my interest immediately - and had me totally loving
this story.

Drew
was definitely as described; self-centered, cocky, and definitely not prince
charming.  He was dominating, controlling
and protective.

Holly was just existing,
still affected by an attack a few months ago.
She hadn't shared what had happened with friends and family and couldn't
stand to be touched by anyone.  That was
until Drew touched her.  With him she could be feel "free" and feel like she was "normal" again.

I love
when a bad boy who doesn't do relationships falls face first for a girl. I
loved how Drew might not have admitted his true feelings at first, even denied
them - but his actions sure spoke volumes.

Holly
had a lot to deal with - scared of what happened in the past, afraid to share
it - even though she knew she'd have to tell Drew everything soon.  She just didn't know how he would handle it.  I felt her confusion as she struggled with
what she was feeling, and if she was making the right decisions with her relationship with Drew or heading to another mistake that this time would totally destroy her.

I loved
all the different characters in the story, especially Drew's sister and mom -
who gave Holly some sage advice.  Holly
just didn't know that it would really matter in the end.

If you
need a shorter read - but with lots of depth and a great story - that includes a hot,
sexy controlling guy - then definitely pick this one up for a great summer or
anytime read!  I'm definitely going to be checking out this authors other books for sure.

~~ 5 Stars ~~

Breaking Free is the fifth book I have read by Alexis Noelle and I have to say that this book just reiterated why I love her books. What I truly enjoy the most about her books is that they are fast moving and flow smoothly. This book was no different. The prologue of this book actually starts out with a punch and then the rest of the book holds you until you hit the very last page. I have to say this was one book I didn't want to end. The only negative about this book for me was I wish we would've gotten more of Drew's POV. We get a little sneak peek in the Epilogue and then that's it. I would've loved to know what he was thinking throughout the whole book. Like I said before this book was fast paced and quite steamy. This is one you can definitely finish in a couple of hours.

This book is about a broken girl….Holly and a broken musician….Drew. Each of these characters are broken for totally different reasons, but my heart broke for them equally once their stories come out. Their story is truly a case of lust at first sight, but turns into Love at first sight. Neither one of them were looking for a commitment but soon grow to depend on each other. They definitely have their ups and downs, but in the end they figure out how to compliment each other. Drew is the lead singer for a popular band. Something tragic happens to him when he was in high school and this causes him to pull away from everyone and he needs to have complete control. Drew is for sure a character that you will have a Love/Hate relationship with. He could be a sweet and tender guy one moment and then a complete Dbag the next. I wanted to smack him quite a few times for the way he treated Holly. But deep down I knew I would love him because I knew there was a great man underneath the surface and I am truly glad I was proven right. Holly was a sweet girl who had something horrific happen to her and now because of that she is afraid to trust and can't stand being touched. My heart broke for her, I couldn't imagine going through life knowing that the simplest touch caused me unending pain. Even with this Holly was truly desperate to have love and a relationship with someone like her BFF's do. This is when she meets Drew and her whole world changes. You see Drew is the only person that can touch Holly without it causing her pain. I loved watching these two grow together and to overcome their issues. Holly and Drew will have you laughing, swooning, panting and even yelling at your kindle.

I loved that we got to see some other characters from another one of Alexis's books (Lucas and Becca). It was only a small snippet but it was cool to see. Every book I have read of Alexis's I have loved her secondary characters. She truly knows how to create great friends and family for her characters. This book was no different.

So if you are looking for that love at first sight love story that has a lot of steam and great characters that won't take long to read….then this is the book to read. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a quick and steamy read or if you are already a fan of Alexis's work. I know I will read anything she writes :)

We first meet Holly while things are happening to her. She used to want what everybody else had, her friends all have a good man. Nicole's boyfriend Jason got her tickets to go see The Renegades, which is one of Nicole's favorite bands. Holly doesn't want to go with them but she finally decides to go. She doesn't like to be touched and she has anxiety attacks. Carter drives them to the concert, Holly needs a break from all the people so she goes to the bathroom. She meets the lead singer of the Renegades, she doesn't understand why he is the only one that she can stand to be touched by. This book falls into the romance genre.
Holly to me is a very strong individual for going through what she did, she is also a very nice person and she isn't looking for a boyfriend right know. Drew is the lead singer of the Renegades, he seems to be very sure of himself, he also doesn't want a girlfriend. Nicole is Holly's friend, she seems very loyal to her friendship with Holly. Carter is Holly's brother and he is very protective of her. Madison is Carter's fiance and Holly's friend, she is a very loyal person. Christen is very loyal, nice and caring person. She is Holly's friend. Jason is Nicole's boyfriend and he is a very protective person. Shawn is Christen's boyfriend. The Characters are very likable and I really liked them.
My views of the book are that its an amazing read. I truly enjoyed how I related to all of the characters in the story. I also liked that the story line was easy to follow. I also liked how Holly and Drew both had their own demons to deal with. The authors style of writing had me hooked from the first page. This is my first book by Alexis Noelle and it definitely will not be my last. I truly loved this story and I wish I could give it more stars.

Okay, I'm in love. Seriously in love. This book rocked my socks off. I started reading at 9PM thinking that I'd just read a couple of chapters before bed, the next thing I know I'm reading the last page. I look over at the clock and it's 4AM...yeah, it was that good.

Alexis Noelle has written a beautiful story of hardships and love. I was sucked in from the first paragraph, it's not everyday that a book can draw me in so quickly. I was so hooked that I was IN the book. I shed a few tears, laughed, and even stomped my foot a couple of times. This is the first of her books that I've read and will definitely be reading her other books!

Holly has some issues and hates physical contact. More than anything she just wants to be the girl she used to be. Her friends all have steady boyfriends and it can be pretty depressing.

Drew is a superstar singer. He's handsome and catches Holly's eye right from the start. He is happy and content living the privileged life of a rich and famous singer. He isn't looking for commitment of any kind. When he meets Holly he's surprised at the pull he has to her.

This is definitely a book for your mature audience as it has adult content. Be prepared to be sucked into the book for hours.

Alexis you did Holly justice. Broken from events that were out of her control because of an obsessed stalker, Holly tries to become whole again. One touch gives her hope and freedom but also tears her world apart and leave her shattered.

Drew and Holly story will have you engaged from beginning to end. Screaming, laughing, and ready to choke the hero and author (lol). It is exciting and tearful with a sex appeal that would have you grabbing your mate for a roll in the sack, against the wall, the shower, or wherever. Breaking Free is just that all around good book where friends have your back and parents give it to you like it is. A MUST read and wonderful addition to one of my favorite series..... P.S. Chris is still crazy from the grave.

If you're looking for a book that moves FAST from the get go, this is it. Sit down, fasten your seat belt and hang the hell on. It's the sort of book that heads off at Mach1 and stays at that pace till the last page.

It's a story of a bad, bad boy and a girl who's had a traumatic event leave her with some emotional scars. Sounds like an unlikely match? Well they work - to find out how you need to read the book!

It's a great quick read.

The prologue of this book shocked me immensely and pulled me right into the story, however the timeline of events in Chapters 1 & 2 were a bit unbelieveable. I wondered how this traumatically damaged young woman rebounded enough to go off with a complete stranger within a three month period. I have to admit that it was a bit difficult to wrap my head around. My respect for the prerogative of the author and their fiction kept me pushing forward with this book. I remained curious about how things would play out for Holly and Drew. His sexy badboy demeanor and how he was able to both comfort and infuriate Holly intrigued me about him. They both had secrets that needed to be revealed if they were ever going to take things to the next level. I wasn't always sure that Drew wanted to do that and it made me have a love/hate relationship with him. He was definitely rough around the edges, but would give little glimmers of a sweetness every now and then. There were a lot of conflicting emotions in this book pulling me this way and that. The ending was special and really put to rest some of the concerns I had along the way. Breaking Free was an enjoyable book, although I was a bit bothered by the speed of events.

This story had the potential to be really great but with the holes in the storyline and that they do not address it at all in the book left me feeling like the book wasn't complete.

I can’t quite put my finger on what the problem was but there just seemed to be something that I wasn’t getting in this book, a connection that I just couldn’t make.
This is not to say that the book was not enjoyable because it was it just didn’t grab me the way previous works have.
Events with a stalker have left Holly emotionally vulnerable and she has some deep seated anxiety issues, making physical contact is something that really causes a problem but with a group of very close friends to watch her back, she is desperate to be just like everyone else and when her friend gets them tickets to see The Renegades, I got the feeling that she almost felt duty bound to accept the invitation.
They meant well, the gesture one that came from their hearts, this band were her favourites and they were all trying so hard to show her that things could get back to how they had been before. But the last thing she wants or needs is to be in excruciatingly close proximity to thousands of other people.
I think this niggled me, she knew this was a problem, why couldn’t she just tell them she couldn’t go. I wasn’t sure why she would put herself in that position, just for appearances sake, she really didn’t have to go, I am sure they would have understood.
But anyway she attends but sure as anything she disappears into the bathroom half way though, desperate to grab some time alone, and as far away from the milling crowds as possible.
After a few moments solitude and she emerges, straight into the path of Drew, lead singer of The Renegades.
Now that would have most normal women hyperventilating, this man was a god to millions but not Holly, she was more enamoured with the fact that their little run in had resulted in direct contact and she hadn’t felt the need to break out in a cold sweat and start running for the hills – if anything what really confused was the fact that Drew touch sort of calmed her, so to speak.
Honestly as if this man didn’t think he was a god already.
Now this is where the book, slides head first into a full on romance and I think in a way this where they lost me.
They both had demons that they kept tucked up inside and neither of them was looking for anything serious, heck neither of them was looking for anything at all if truth be told.
But they couldn’t keep away.
They were engaging enough, as were the plethora of friends that surrounded them, especially Holly but I was waiting on it all falling apart, and that isn’t like me normally, I am always looking for the happy ever after.
Did this make me laugh in places, yes. Did it make me cry, in places, yes but it also left me slightly cold.
My main problem was instant love thing that was going on, Holly had been through so much, she had friends that were with her every step of the way yet if they laid a finger on her she would flinch and pull away from them but one single encounter with Drew the ultimate commitment phobe and consummate bad boy and it was all over.
She was besotted. I am ashamed to admit but I could feel my heart pulling away from the story then and there, she was just too full on, desperate maybe. If I had been her friend I would have been hurt by her actions. Holly, was happy to keep the world on the outside, but suddenly she has a world famous rock star in her life and everything changed. Drew was the sort of man that Holly should have avoided like the plague but she stepped towards him like a moth to a flame.
I struggled with Drew, this rock star who could be a total ass at times and have women at his feet in the click of a finger and had never shown the slightest iota of indication that anyone mattered to him, until he met Holly…really!
And Holly, happy to keep the world on the outside, shunning all but the closest of friend and suddenly she has a world famous rock star in her life. Drew was the sort of man that Holly should have avoided like the plague but she stepped towards him like a moth to a flame.
A decent read but too clean cut and easy.

5 stars!
Drew Walker is pure f**king perfection. Yes, he was a cocky, arrogant ass… but you couldn't help but fall in love with his character. Who knew that big bad Mr. Rockstar would turn out to be so completely lovable?

Alexis Noelle did an amazing job of grabbing your attention right from the beginning. Many times when a book starts out on such a strong note, parts can tend to lack in the wow factor as the story progresses. That was NOT the case with Breaking Free. From page one, all the way to "the end", the intensity captured you and held you prisoner. Did things between Drew and Holly progress at an extremely rapid pace?… YES. However, it worked. Every little piece about this book worked and fit together perfectly.

Drew is one of the most aggravating, make you want to pull your hair out, men. Many times my jaw would drop open and I couldn't believe that he had just said/done certain things. When he said that he always gets what he wants, he really meant it. If you have not yet read this book, you really MUST! If for no other reason that to read the t-shirt scene. I nearly peed my pants from laughing so hard. That was def one of my top 3 favorite scenes EVER!

I loved how the book was a standalone, yet it was a spinoff which gave you more insight into one of the smaller characters from Alexis' Guarded Hearts series. Being a huge fan of that series, I have to say that Alexis really knocked my socks off with Breaking Free, and it easily… hands down… became my favorite book of hers to date. All of the previous characters made an appearance, yet you were not completely lost as to what was going on if you had not yet read the other books.

The immediate connection between Holly and Drew was indescribable, and it only burned brighter as the story progressed. After Holly's kidnapping, she was unable to stand being touched. Not by her brother, family, or closest friends. But when she meets Drew Walker (lead singer of a popular rock band), all that changes. He is the ONLY person since that incident who is able to touch her without her feeling both emotional and physical pain. His touch does not send her into a downward spiral of panic, but rather ignites something deep inside of her which she thought had been lost for good. Both of them are battling their own demons from the past, and they find an unexpected connection and support in each other. The two of them simultaneously clash and mesh and the result is absolutely explosive. I wanted to both punch Drew in the face, and hug him at the same time. Their relationship is a ticking time bomb which in order to keep it from detonating, they must learn to let go of the past and help each other to move forward.

I cannot begin to express enough how much I loved Drew and Holly's book. I am praying to anything and everything that is out there to please please please give me more Drew f**king Walker! He is just too damn sexy to not keep his story going. I would absolutely love if there was another book in which we got to see more into the mind of Drew. There seems like there is so much more to him that needs to be told.

I was honored to be able to beta read the book for Alexis Noelle. I absolutely enjoyed this book I loved and hated Drew at times and wanted to be a friend to Holly. Alexis did a great job pulling me into this book and keeping me up until 1 in the morning reading.

Holly is tortured by a past experience where she was kidnapped and left in the trunk of a car. Due to this experience she cannot stand for anyone to touch her not even her brother or friends without feeling pain. Her friends drag her to a concert one night to celebrate Nicole’s Birthday and wouldn’t you know it Mr. McHottie sneaks up on her and touches her and can you believe it, it doesn’t hurt it actually feels good.

Mr. McHottie(AKA Drew Walker) is a huge control freak that wants Holly and oh didn’t you know Drew ALWAYS gets what he wants. Drew has his own demons and no matter how much Holly opens up to Drew he refuses. There were times felt bad for Holly for the way Drew would leave her frustrated and hanging. He had to have all the control and when he realized he was not in control he would run for the hills.

There is a part where I was in shock I couldn’t believe what I was reading nor that Alexis Noelle even had the nerve to come up with this little twist. It is at the end and when you read you will know. I was such a shock it caused me to gasp and startled my husband while he was driving (and give me a not to happy look).

The t-shirt scene is one of my favorite…Me Drew… You Mine…Everyone knows it now!!! Classic just Classic. I absolutely loved Drew’s mother the things she said to Holly and then the things she said to Drew to set him straight, now those were some words of wisdom coming from a mom right there.
Great Job Alexis cannot wait for the next one.

Some of my Favorites:

How is it possible to hate someone’s guts and want to jump their bones at the same time?

I lift my head to meet his gaze trying to convey my hate and annoyance to him. It only lasts a minute, though, because every time I meet his gaze it’s like I’m under a spell. He puts me into a never ending fog where all I want is to be his. Damn him, I look away, trying to break the spell, and move to go around him.

“What exactly are we?”
His eyes grow big. “What do you mean? I thought we settled that already.”
“No, like everything else with you, it was really vague.”
“I want you, James. I can’t explain why, but I do. And in case you haven’t noticed, I get what I want.”

Is it possible for a woman to get blue balls? Because I swear to God that’s what I want.

“Love is unpredictable, crazy and at times cruel, but it is never planned. The only way to know if you truly love someone is by looking into your own heart, and let me tell you, the heart doesn’t work off of a calendar.”

3.5 stars. I had high hopes for this book, but it just sort of fell flat. I love Alexis and I usually love all her books, but something was lacking with this book.

Holly James is trying to move on with her life, but it’s not easy. She can’t stand to be touched by anyone, not even her own family. She is a lost broken shell of the person that she used to be. She realizes that shutting everyone out is much easier than opening up and letting someone hurt her.

Holly’s life hasn’t been easy, she was kidnapped and raped and she has the mental scars to deal with. The book officially starts a few months after the incident and her friends are trying to get her out of the house and go out. She goes out and meets Drew and sparks fly. My main issue is the fact that Holly won’t let anyone near her or touch her but the minute she meets Drew everything changes. Not to mention Drew is a complete jerk but she’s all over him. i mean the book wasn’t horrible but I had high hopes for this one.

Wow, I want me some Drew Walker. Talk about a sexy rocker who is so damn cocky and always gets what he wants and I love that about a man.

Drew lived sort of a f*cked up life. He didn't and wouldn't let anyone in and really just did whatever the f*ck he wanted, when he wanted and how he wanted.

Holly James was a girl who couldn't let anyone in her life. She couldn't stand anyone touching her or even coming near her, not even her family or close friends. She actually went through a terrible episode in her life that pretty much scared the crap out of her and if it weren't for her brother rescuing her .... she probably would be dead right now.

Any way, it has taken her a lot of time to get over what happened to her. Her friends convinced her to attend a concert and even though she didn't want to go, she decided to please them and go. That was probably the best thing she could have done because that's where she meets Drew and he seems to be the only guy that could come near her. The attraction is so intense between them since the minute they meet and she surprises herself that she is able to let him go near her when she knows she has issues with anyone touching her.

They start up a relationship, even though he says he doesn't do relationships and he doesn't have girlfriends. He feels like he doesn't deserve a girlfriend because of what happened to his girlfriend when they were young. But he's so drawn to Holly that he wants her to be his.

But I think everyone deserves a second chance. There is no such thing as god punishing you for something that happens especially when it's out of your control and it's not even your fault.

These two characters bonded very quickly and they hit it off the freaking charts. Loved them both and I thought this was very well written. I was mesmerized with Holly and Drew. They seem to be like the perfect couple and they were able to overcome their fears and work things out. It took them a bit but they managed. He really had to beg her for forgiveness for acting like such an ass, but I think that's what made him so damn sexy -- the fact that he was such an ass :)

Two thumbs up for you Alexis, loved this book and I can't wait for your next book!!! I totally give this 4.5 stars

Such a great series!!! Loved this very much!!

This 3-book trilogy showcases three best friends and how they get their woman!

In the first book, Fall For Me, Carter & Madison find each other at college and from the very first moment the chemistry is off the charts. The thing is…she has a boyfriend. It takes a lot of trust, on each of them, and even then it might not be enough.

In Wait For Me, Nicole and Jason are passionate and dynamic to the extreme. Nicole is so independent and Jason is so alpha that it’s almost like fighting is their fore-play. Even by the end they don’t have it totally figured out. Which is what I love about box sets…..you get to read one right after the other. Each of the characters are at least a little bit in each book.

Fight For Me brings us to Shawn (<——thank you for the traditional spelling!) and Christen. They are definitely the sweet couple. She is just an amazing person, despite her awful parents. They have plans for her to be perfect, act perfect, have the perfect career, the perfect man…..it’s not at all what she wants. It intimidates Shawn and makes him feel like he’s not good enough for her. Will she prove to him that he is and that he is what she wants no matter what her parents think? We also get a little more of Nicole & Jason too.

Breaking Free is about Carter’s little sister, Holly. Boy this girl has it from her brother and her father. However I think Carter is worse!!! Holly is one determined chick - trying to move on with her life. She hates being touched and finds that the only person that can get past this with is Drew. He’s everything she should not want. He’s an ass, he knows it and doesn’t care, he’s totally good looking and probably the main reason to stay away from him: he’s the lead singer in a band. Will she be able to find herself again with him or will he be the thing that finally breaks her for good?

Every one of these stories is a bit different and a bit the same. I love that and I love how they all are in each book. The writing style of Alexis is amazing, the characters are complex and developed and the endings are amazing!!!!

Very Highly Recommend!!!

Breaking Free:

Holly has not been the same since the incident a few months ago. Once a happy outgoing girl she is now cautious, jumpy and can no longer stand anyone’s touch. No one knows how profoundly the event has changed Holly because she plays it off very well but inside she is dying a little every day. Holly makes a huge effort on her best friend’s birthday to go out and have some fun, not only because it’s her friend’s birthday but also because if she doesn’t questions will be asked and she does NOT want to answer them. Just so happens her best friend scores tickets to a concert to the hottest band around so this is where Holly is headed, not knowing how she will with stand being around so many people she is about to put on the act of her life. At the venue she decides to take a breather and has the most out of the world experience. There is finally someone’s touch she can not only tolerate but that also calms her down. Drew is drawn to the pretty lady who is all by herself gazing at the stars. He just has to have her. Their first encounter is definitely memorable to say the least. After a hot make out session with this total stranger Holly has no idea what to think or do. Turns out she doesn’t have to think about it for too long because Drew literally tracks her down and will not take no for an answer. Both of these individuals are broken in one form or another. Drew has this incredible need to control everything including Holly but won’t tell her why. Holly can’t stand touch and has severe panic attacks which scare Drew beyond belief. He demands to know what has happened to Holly but she will not share. When these two are together explosive is the only word that comes to mind. The big question is will these two broken individuals be each other’s saving grace or their complete destruction? Can two people so broken help each other join the land of the living again? Can they help each other put the past top rest and finally be happy again? This is a wonderfully fast paced romance that will blow your mind!

From the first word I was hooked, completely pulled in. It was fast paced and I couldn't put it down. I read this book in one sitting.

I wanted to hug Holly from the get go, to get hurt the way she did is a lesson to everyone about online dating. It broke her but she has a huge support system in family and friends.

After finally agreeing to go to a concert with her brother and friends something huge happened and it makes Holly's head spin but in a very good, sexy and steamy way in the form of Drew Walker, the bad boy rockstar (my fave. Holly has a phobia of touch but for some unknown reason Drew can touch her with out her bodies painful reaction.
Drew sucks Holly in and like I said he makes her head spin. She takes advantage of him being able to touch her and so their journey starts.

Drew is one cocky arse and personally he would have gotten a good few slaps from me, just saying. But you can see why Holly put up with most of it. Drew needs to control everything and that comes from a deep past event, they both have trust issues but they seem to balance out.

Their relationship was intense and fast paced with some very steamy sex scenes. Their relationship grows fast which was nice to see because the connection between them both was simply there for all to see. Drew pushed Holly in certain things but if he pushed to far she let him know and he would listen. Drew grew on me more through out the book, espcially the way he grew to care for her.

Like all true rockstars he screws it up. They both finally confess their past incidents and it completely throws Drew a curve ball and he very nastily pushes Holly away(insert punch the his face. I wanted to hug Holly and tell her that he wasn't worth it. You could feel her pain by his words.

I was really happy to see that in the end they both got their HEA, I also really liked Drew's proposal, very sweet to include her brother and friends.
