Briar Coven #1

Accidentally Summoned an Incubus

Rate this book
After throwing a well-deserved hex at a human, 27-year-old Lex is required to return to her coven to await trial. Is it coincidence or fate that she returns to her hometown on the one night a year that a Briar Coven witch can summon her fated mate? But Lex has avoided partaking in the summoning for the last nine years, and she certainly has no intention of doing it this Samhain. Lex is determined to keep her head down and see out this trial... Until she accidentally summons her mate... Who just so happens to be an incubus demon.

Lochran has grown tired of hunting for his meals. Like all the demons of his clan, he returns to the shadow realm on Samhain in the hope that this might be the year he will be summoned by his fated mate. Too bad that, when the smoke clears and the most beautiful witch he’s ever seen is glaring back at him, she’s telling him it was a mistake.

Oh my Goddess!!! This was an insanely fun read. Quick and SPICY🌶️. Belle Blakley had me devouring each page. I mean, which girl doesn't want an enchanted, mischievous house, a fiercely protective wolf shifter bestie, and a hot as F incubus fated mate. I can't wait for the next book in the Briar Coven trilogy. 👌

Accidentally Summoned an Incubus

Fast paced.

Hot.

Little to no plot.

Cute storyline

Cutie pie MMC

Surprise NSFW art at the end.

Once again, my favourite character is not any of the main characters. They're actually a side character but without them, the MC's wouldn't even be together. That's right. My favourite character is House.

Lex is a witch. She hexed a human, if we have to call him that (eye roll). She's in her home town awaiting Trials on the one night a year she can summon her mate. Which she doesn't want to do.

Lochran is an Incubus and longs for his mate. He's a cinnamon roll.

House is basically us. House refused to open the closet doors so Lochran had to walk around shirtless. Tehehehe

Book: Standalone

Adventure: 🗻

Spice: 🌶🌶🌶🌶

Drama: 😵😵😵😵

Romance: ❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️

This was a cute, very short read that serves as a nice palate cleanser.

Our leading lady gets tricked into summoning her fated mate, a yummy demon who just wants to be with his fated mate!! This book has undertone messages around sexual harassment in the workplace, and I enjoyed how that translated into our FMC’s reservations about summoning her fated mate in the first place.

Lex as a female character, is navigating a tricky trauma that occurred at her expense thanks to some extreme sexual harassment from her former boss. I understood her reasoning, but she is a bit stubborn in opening her eyes. I was bothered that her whole schtick was about consent, but she never stopped to ask our MMC Lochran what he wanted. That would have saved a lot of time, though I suppose push/pull was a big trope in this story.

Lochran 🥵 ... it’s no joke how possessive he is – but if you’ve read any of my other reviews, you know I am ravenous for OTT male antagonists. He was such a fluffy marshmallow for her, I just wanted SMORE! All dad jokes aside, he was really well written and very patient with Lex while she navigated her trauma, which I appreciated.

I really enjoyed how fated mates get together in this book. I can’t say I’ve ever read another book that had this type of mate-matching system and it was a cool idea. I also really appreciated how the FMC took care of her work problem – if only all of us who get harassed could have that power to ➗🍆 if you get my drift.

Again, I recommend this ready – it's quick and is a great read if you need to take a break between books of a longer series ... or just to read when he have a few hours of down time. Happy reading!!

fun and steamy witchy novel just like I love them🤠 the background plotline was really good and it's nice to have some representation of real life issues like these. the side characters were pretty cool and her family so sweet, the town felt cozy but we didn't see a lot of it. the world building and magic system weren't thrown at you or left for the reader to figure out, just the right balance of explanation.

now the smut scenes were the main attraction and they didn't disappoint. my personal word preferences tho prevented me from enjoying them 100% : walls, folds, entrance, and way too much talk about his balls (do we need to know they're rolling over his thighs when he turns over in bed??😟)

First of all, Belle Blakley, how dare you. How dare you make me want a magical house. Like, it is 2024 and magical houses should be a thing by now. Also, how dare you make me want my own incubus. Purely for research purposes. Purely.

I really enjoyed the Her Monster for the Night short novellas...you can check out my reviews for those as well as I reviewed them earlier this month. I found myself begging and wanting more in those stories, and here we have one. (completely unrelated to Her Monster for the Night, just not a short little story but an actual book almost 200 pages!) The start of a trilogy. It ends on a HEA, but the stories will mingle with other characters and essentially follow different witches summoning their fated mates.

In this series, to protect their coven during the Salem witch trials, the coven leaders had made a deal with Hecate to help protect them and they were mated with a specific clan of shadow demons, incubi. On Samhain, the witch could cast the summoning spell and it would launch their fated mate from the shadow realm they lived and boom! Mated. I wont go into the full specifics, you should read those for yourself. The witches and their mates (and eventually families) live in bespelled magical houses that have their own personalities. Alexis (Lex for short) found herself having to go to trial after hexing her former boss after being harassed by him. You know the type I mean. She was given this old house to stay in while she awaited trial and the house forced her into summoning her mate, which she had no intention to. The rest of the book basically is about her resisting mating at first, and slowly her and Lochran getting to know each other. Lex wanted to focus on healing while she prepared for her trial.

Everyone's personalities were so unique and fun. I want to live in the community that houses Briar Coven. I can't wait to read the next stories....I especially can't wait to read Hell's Gate series that follows a pack of werewolves. One of the werewolves, Billy, is Lex's best friend. Billy, a female wolf, from a very hidden (spelled hidden) wolf pack, slowly starts becoming an alpha. Lex and Lochran find themselves being packed up with Billy while she is becoming an alpha. I will leave the other twists for you to enjoy :) I can't wait to read her story with Jake!

Belle Blakley has such a unique writing style, that reading her books does not feel like work. They just flow so well. There was a good amount of spice, and early on so you don't have to wait. No third act break up, though her trial and after affects occur in the third act of the book. It was just such a well thought out book. It was both plot heavy and had a good amount of spice, that even if the characters weren't actively engaged in spicy acts, boy were they thinking them! You won't be disappointed if you read this book.

I usually read books with possessive, bad boy total villain characters, ASAI is a golden Retriever mmc who wants nothing more then to please his Witch in every way he can and he had me totally swooning.

A being who Feeds on sexual desires/experiences , He is starving and still pushing her to set boundaries, and letting her know he will only touch her when she desires it. He is the perfect gentlemen. Put that together with the tail… my god the Tail and I was left with fantasies I’d never thought of before. This was a fantastic short Spicy read and I really enjoyed it.

I was lucky to get this book as an ARC and was more then happy to get the chance to review it :)

I received an ARC copy in return for my honest review.

I absolutely loved this book from start to finish!

The plot was incredibly well paced and had me enthralled the entire way. I loved the magical world created throughout this book and the descriptive writing really had you picturing everything in all its beauty in your head.

What I really loved was the representation of real world issues, as well as a bit of Deaf representation too! I felt the author really dealt with these real world issues in a sensitive manner whilst highlighting the cause and effect these can have.

This book had such a cosy vibe and I loved it! It gave me Practical Magic meets Lost Girl, with a little bit of Beauty and The Beast vibes.

When the spice hit, it did not disappoint! This was the main thing that drew me to the book (as a spicy book connoisseur) and I was not disappointed. There is a decent amount of spice in this book and it hits quite early on.

I also really enjoyed the pop culture references in this book - some of which really had me cackling.

The FMC Lex’s internal monologue was hilarious and I loved her. I felt she was incredibly relatable.

The MMC Lochran is so swoony, kind, generous and understanding.

I just loved all of the side characters in this book too and all of their unique personalities. I felt like all the characters were fleshed out so well and had me wanting more of all of them and their backstories too.

Overall, I just adored this book and can’t wait to read the other books in the series!

Also I really want a magical house now and I’m sad I’ll never own one 😭

Thank you to Book Sirens and author Belle Blakley for an ARC of Accidentally Summoned an Incubus in exchange for an honest review!

5/5 ⭐
2/3 🌶️

This was my first book by Belle Blakley and I am HOOKED.

This is the first book in a new cozy, witchy trilogy.

If I could sum it up in one sentence, I'd say that it's Cozy in the streets, spicy in the sheets. 🥺🥵

Lex is a strong FMC with a bit of a seductive side. She comes from the Briar coven which has been around since the 1600s (see Salem Witch Trials). The early witches of her coven made a deal with Hecate; in exchange for her protection from the mortals, they could only mate with incubi. Lex has been avoiding summoning her mate every Samhain since she came of age, but after being SA'd at work by her former one-night-stand turned new boss, she hexes him and has to return home to face her own trial. She's given a cozy, magical house to stay in, and the house has its own plans for Lex's summoning.

Lochran is just a sweet golden retriever incubus. He's been waiting nine years for his mate to summon him and in doing so, has placed himself on a sex ban, saving himself for his mate. As he's about to give up all hopes of being summoned, he finds himself pulled from the shadow realm and standing in the living room of a very grumpy witch.

A sassy magical house may have summoned Lex's mate for her, and she's none too thrilled about it. Lochran just wants his mate to know he's there for her...

PERFECT for readers who love:

Strong heroine
Cinnamon roll MMC
Slow-burn
Cozy vibes
Hot and steamy spice

Be sure to check your trigger warnings.

This was so cute. The mmc was broody and kind of a bastard in the best way, my favorite. The fmc was funny as hell and I am beyond happy to see a woman defending herself against an absolute scumbag. The people backing her made me want to cry. It was a unique plot with likable characters. I patiently await my own magic house please and thank you.

A very fun and flirty paranormal romance. This was a quick read (@ around 220ish pages) and I liked it a lot. There's witchy vibes and fated mates, and lots of spice. The whole vibe of the book felt like it was a soap opera. There are descriptions of sexual assault, so if that's a trigger for you, then I would skip this one. But if you're looking for a spicy book with an easy to follow plot along with lots of smut, then this is a good one!

I had the opportunity to receive an ARC of Accidentally Summoned an Incubus by Belle Blakely in return for an honest review.

What I liked most about this book was the inclusion of real struggles that normal people face daily. It added a touch of realism to the otherwise spicy and fantasy-filled novella. The world-building to the story's plot was amazing and the side characters are very developed (which I'm hoping means that we will be getting another few books in the same universe soon!!!).

All in all this book pleasantly surprised me and I'm definitely looking forward to reading more of Belle's books!

Quick, funny and cozy read. Set in a cute little town, with relatable funny characters, loved the banter and of course the spice!

I really enjoyed how the FMC handled the work incident and I would love for more women to have that…talent.

This was so adorably sweet. I thought at first it was gonna hurt my feelings cause I don't handle rejection very well but I was surprised by how well the summoning scene was handled.
The story was pretty decent and lightly touched on a real life issue.
Definitely had some funny times as well.

Rating- 4.5 stars.

Trigger or content warnings? Yes! They are listed in the “trigger warnings” at the beginning of the book.

Details?
The FMC’s name is Alexis (prefers to go by Lex). The MMC’s name is Lochran. Lex and Lochran are 27 years old. Neither are virgins, and both have sex to feed the Incubus/Succubus part of themselves. Lex is half Succubus, and Lochran is fully a Incubus.
There is a detailed sex scene with an OW in the first chapter with Lochran. This is before the two main characters meet. Lochran swore off of penetrative sex because he found it to be the most intimate of sexual pleasure. He wanted to keep it to himself, so he made a penetrative sex ban a few years ago. So he sticks to oral, or his fingers. He takes whatever form the women he sleeps with find most attractive, so the only woman who will see his true form while having sex is his mate. Also, with not having penetrative sex, the edge is only taken off, so he’s been consistently hungry (but not starving) for a few years.
Alexis had a hook up a month ago, and he turned out to be her new boss. With being part succubus, her everything literally enchants whoever she sleeps with to be infatuated with her sexually. He has been harassing her the entire month, and when the book starts it is the day that Lex finally loses it on him. He tells her to cut the chase and stop being hard to get, and then drops his drawers. To which Lex hexes his penis to be minuscule.

Alexis is on birth control, and Lochran didn’t get the birth control charm done on him because he hasn’t been having penetrative sex for a few years (he didn’t need it). I assumed the same for STDs, they would have a charm to protect them.

My thoughts?
I was a bit wary, the topic of sexual harassment in the work place is unfortunately common today and it leaves scars that no one else can see. So knowing that it was going to be a major theme helped me prepare mentally.
I too, would have hexed the hell out of Chad’s (the OM and harasser) dick. I love the involvement with the house Lex’s grandmother places her in when she comes back to face trial. In fact, the house has all of the credit for being a mischievous matchmaker. It was a slow start in means of trust, and building the bond between the two of them but the lust was instantaneous. It was like being edged right along with them with how thick the chemistry seemed to be. In fact, the scenes were quite spicy.
I learnt something new about myself, I love when a well experienced (been around the town beds a few time if ya know what I’m saying) is reduced to a no-stamina-it’s-Never-felt-like-this-before man. I was just a tad feral for Lochran losing his sexual cool around Lex, especially with having to read about his experience with the OW in the first chapter. It was essential for me to read about how different and special Lex is, and for an incubus who needs sex to survive..he’s experienced a lot. It was beautiful to be able to read how both of their pleasure was prioritized, because they both feed off of each other’s pleasure.
I found the climax of the story slightly rushed, but I’m hoping there’s more detail in the next book. I really wanted to read about their HEA, but instead it was a HFN.
Definitely will be checking out the next book in the series!

Gleeful Goblin Review: Ok so I'm a degenerate monster fudger and thrilled to be so. As a result of this I've read a lot of demon related materials so seeing new spins on things like an incubus is SO MUCH FUN. And this book delivered on a new spin in such a fun and wholesome way: "In my natural form, I had inky black hair and violet eyes. But, while roguishly handsome, I certainly had my flaws. I definitely wasn’t the cover-model kind. A chipped left canine, a scar on my temple that caused my hair to grow in the wrong direction (which was why I now wore it cropped at the sides), and a crooked shadow wing to name a few. But our natural forms were insignificant for the most part. When we appeared to mortals—the ones who wanted to fück us, that is—we took on whatever form they most desired. The number of times I had appeared as a variation of Henry Cavill was sickening. The only time we didn’t have to change our form was for our máte. Which was the reason why I, and most of the other incubi and the handful of succubi of our clan, had returned to our shadow realm. Tomorrow was Samhain, the one night of the year that our fated máte could summon us. And I desperately hoped that my witch would summon me this year." My heart totally melted at this description as well as the longing that's present here. Both our main characters have physical imperatives that dictate intimacy and that they both aren't real keen about at this point for different reasons. While our FMC is trying to avoid her fate our MMC is aching for it which is just delicious. I'm especially in love with Lochran though because despite being an incubus and needing to be intimate with other folks than his máte, he is creative about meeting those needs while holding himself apart and for his fated máte, which I personally found utterly charming.

For entirely different reasons I also found Lex totally delightful, especially in how she dealt with office harassment. Having had to navigate gross situations like this in the past I can't even express how satisfying it was to see her stand up for herself and use magic to do what I'm sure many of us who have been harassed would love to have done in her position. From start to finish this book was a cackling out loud delightful read for me and I highly recommend it. 5/5 Stars

Way back when, the Briar Coven was founded by a group of witches who were the last remaining members of covens decimated by the European witch hunts. Unfortunately, they arrived in the new world in the late 1600’s, not ideal. In order to blend in and avoid accusations, the coven invoked Hecate and asked the goddess for, of all things, husbands since groups single women were considered suspicious. Hecate granted their wish, and from that time each witch in the Briar Coven has been mated to an incubus/succubus. Every Samhain they are given the chance to summon their mate, which our fierce FMC Lex has absolutely no intention of doing.

Forced home after she hexes a mortal (who fully deserves it), Lex is sequestered away in a sentient cabin to await her trial. The house has plans of its own though, including tricking Lex into summoning her mate, Lochran, and acting as the wingman she didn’t ask for once he’s there. Lochran, conversely, has been waiting for his mate to summon him for nine years and is losing hope that she ever will when it suddenly happens.

Lex is less than thrilled to be confronted with a hot incubus who worships the ground she walks on (insane, right?), but nonetheless their chemistry is undeniable, and their banter is genuinely funny. Lochran is the definition of cinnamon roll, his willingness to let Lex set the pace of their relationship and his ride or die attitude are endearing. Lex is more reserved, definitely the black cat to Lochran’s golden retriever, but funny as hell. She has a great (and realistic) dynamic with her younger brother plus her parents and grandparents are supportive af. Her best friend, Billy, is a werewolf and though we don’t see a lot of her I’m fairly certain that we’ll get to know her a lot better soon.

This book was a delight to read, I loved seeing the relationship between Lex and Lochran develop from both perspectives. It’s a relatively quick read; I blew through it in one sitting. Cozy and spicy is a combination I didn’t realise I needed in my paranormal romance, but this book delivered. It’s hard to choose a favourite character, but I’d have to say that the House won in the end, especially after the scene where it locked Lochran out of his closet so he had to walk around shirtless. Accidentally Summoned an Incubus is one of my favourite books this year, I’m excited to begin reading the second Briar Coven book.

Belle Blakley is officially a new fave author for me. I'm so happy I discovered her through BookSirens! This was a highly enjoyable read for me and I LOVED all of the witchy and spicy aspects throughout.

Lex is our FMC. She is a succubus witch. Her family line starts back in the 1600's (yes during The Salem Witch Trials but her family line found safety from the trials) In her coven there are a strong line of female succubus witches who are all mated to an incubus upon them summoning their incubus.

Lex has zero interest in matching with her mate and has avoided it for 9 years to be exact. When she runs into a scuffle at work and hexes her boss, she finds herself back at home awaiting trial. Her boss is mortal so this event had to be thoroughly revised to see what the next steps would be.

She has been invited to stay at her grandmother's house while she awaits her trial. This is no ordinary house though, it's full of magic. The house tricked Lex into summoning her mate. Lochran, the incubus is drop dead gorgeous and has Lex in a daze and whirlwind of emotions. As much as she plays it off that it was the "house's doing" she can't help but find her mate irresistible. Her family was right about that...

Lochran has everything a woman CRAVES. He is strikingly handsome, kind, generous, understanding and strives to be the best he can be for his mate. He works so hard to gain Lex's trust, love and acceptance. He has waited for this moment his entire life.

Blakley did a wonderful job executing this story! The characters were well developed and extremely likeable. The world building was done nicely and each chapter flowed together perfectly. Overall, this book was very well paced and had all of the components there to make this quite the satisfying read that every reader hopes for in a book. I cannot wait to see what the next two books have in store for us readers!

I highly recommend this one for all of those Paranormal Romance Lovers! The spice is an added plus ;)

Belle Blakley is a new author to me, and I was not disappointed! This book was so fun! Let me start by saying that I listen to A LOT of audiobooks, and Blakley could not have gotten a better duet narration team than Bridget Bordeaux and Jake Bordeaux! This wife and hubby team are AMAZING, especially with a duet style narration. If you do not know what duet narration is--Bridget reads the female POV chapters as well as all the female parts in the story. Like her counterpart, Jake reads all the male POV chapters and all the male parts of the story. They are exceptional voice actors. Yep, Jake brings the book boyfriend voice while Bridget brings all the sass! PERFECT DUO!!! I would have bought the audiobook just seeing these 2 narrators, but let's chat about this story. Imagine Practical Magic or Charmed (the house is even magical and somewhat of a sentient being) meets Lost Girl (as the FMC is part witch/part succubus and the MMC is an Incubus) with lots of spice mixed in! Lex and Lochran are so cute together. Without giving too much of the very well written storyline away, a witch’s fated mate is always an incubus that she will feel called to summon at some point in her life. Lex does not want to be tied down to a mate, but her magical house has a different plan and causes Lex to accidentally summon her incubus mate. Despite their immediate attraction to each other, Lex is not happy to be mated. Lochran is absolutely thrilled, but smart enough to recognize that he needs to respect her boundaries and woo her to try to change her mind. Of course, they are both sex demons and must feed off sexual energy eventually. A challenging situation that develops into some comical moments and a lot of discovery between these two. I love that they actually do work together to overcome their challenges, so you get to watch their relationship develop. The characters are well developed and very entertaining. I hope she will continue the series and put them on audiobook, too. I look forward to more from Blakley.

OK, I didn't really know what I was getting when I went into this. I knew the gist, and kind of figured it'd be some fun $mu++y witchy 🌽, but I was pleasantly surprised by the plot and character development in it.

Alexis, or Lex, but NEVER Lexi... was so relatable and I appreciated watching her sort through everything in her own time, while also fumbling around with very real feelings for the $3x demon/incubus she accidentally summoned (with the help of her magical house)... 🪄🏡
Lex and Lochran are cute and awkward, hilarious and sweet, and then FINALLY hot and heavy. 🥵🔥 But they are always on her terms and her timeline, and my man Lochran was some prime book boyfriend material for that!

There were fantastic side characters, and I'm excited for her bestie Billy's story and watching her brother Jake finally realize why he's in his sister's BFF alpha shifter pack... 🤣
And also, what the story is with the very top-secret pack she comes from... 😏

I also loved how Lochran could tell what was going on with all of that before everyone else, too. I feel like there will be some fun, probably against his will, meddling going on in the future books. 🤗

Overall, I would definitely recommend this book. Remember to be mindful if you have triggers in relation to SA and harassment. And then just settle in and enjoy a good $mu++y witchy romance with some plot and heart. 💜🥰

I received an advanced copy of this book and am leaving an honest review.

Belle Blakley's Accidentally Summoned an Incubus is a delightful and spicy blend of paranormal romance, humor, and witchy charm. The story revolves around Lex, a strong and independent witch who inadvertently summons her fated mate, a brooding yet irresistible incubus named Lochran, right when she’s trying to keep a low profile.

The narrative is well-paced, mixing tension and romance in just the right amounts. Lex’s character is refreshingly complex, dealing with the fallout of a well-deserved hex and her reluctance to embrace destiny. Lochran, on the other hand, is a perfect balance of dark allure and vulnerability, making their dynamic both steamy and compelling.

Blakley excels in world-building, creating a vivid setting that’s rich with magical lore without overwhelming the reader with exposition. The Briar Coven is portrayed with intriguing depth, and the concept of fated mates adds an irresistible twist to the romance. The humor sprinkled throughout the story keeps the tone light even as the stakes rise, making it a thoroughly enjoyable read.

However, some readers might find the book a bit predictable in its plot developments, and the romance, while sizzling, occasionally overshadows the story’s other elements. Yet, for fans of paranormal romance who appreciate strong heroines and seductive demons, this book is a must-read.

Overall, Accidentally Summoned an Incubus is a fun and enchanting start to what promises to be an exciting series. It’s easy to see why it has garnered such high ratings. If you’re in the mood for a witchy romance with a dash of danger, this book should be at the top of your list.

This is my kind of cozy romance. The craving, the angst, the yearning, the dirty talk! My gods this woman had me on the edge of my seat more than a time or two. That is all thanks to Lochran. Boy might have been a cinnamon roll for Lex, but jeez did he know what to do with his tongue! Get your head out of the gutter, I meant his linguistic skills were *chefs kiss*!!!

Okay... I don't just mean his linguistic skills!

For this being such a short listen, the plot, word building, and character's storylines were all fully developed. I never felt like I was left wanting like I am in some shorter monster romances.

Our girl Lex was by no means a soft FMC! From the very first pages you realize this is not a woman who needs a man to save her. She can do that on her own.

Then House! Yes! I need House. You will see what that is about as it unfolds and lastly, Billy. Lex's best friend is what the good best friends are made of. Fearsome, protective, and definitely out to get a laugh at Lex's expense.

Bridget Bordeaux and Jake Bordeaux are phenomenal narrators but hearing them as Lex and Lochran only amped up that love I have for them.

To wrap this up, I loved everything about this book from start to finish. If you like your cozy paranormal romances with buckets of spice on top this one's for you!

Now, I have to say this, or I would be doing Billy a huge disservice! The girl needs a book! I don't know what Belle has in the pipeline, but I am itching for her story so hard!!

I found this book to be an enjoyable and approachable read, delivering exactly what it promised. The story was relatively low-stakes, with accessible worldbuilding despite the supernatural elements and well-executed spice.

The plot and characters were simple enough to avoid becoming overwhelming, given the book's length, yet appealing enough to maintain my interest. Some of the lore was quite entertaining, and I appreciated the development of the side characters. I liked Lex and Lochran as characters and thought their pairing was fitting. Lex's dynamic with her family, and Lochran's dynamic with the incubi in teh family, added an enjoyable layer to the story. I am very excited to read the story between Billy (the wolf shifter best friend) and Jake (Lex's brother). Also, the sentient houses were an absolute gem.

Overall, the book delivered on its promises. While it may not be the most amazing book I've ever read, it was an approachable and enjoyable story. The balance between plot, character development, and romance was well-maintained. Although the main plot driving point wasn't my favorite, it was well integrated with the supernatural aspects. Lex's rapid character development in just four days (basically thanks to finding her mate) felt like a bit of a stretch, but it fit the story's timeline and tone.

4.25 stars. (A)Lex(is), the female witch/succubus lead, is determined not to summon her soul fated incubus - she’s worried he doesn’t have a choice and she doesn’t want to inflict herself upon him if he’d have preferred not to. Lochran, the male incubus lead, can’t understand why his soulmate hasn’t summoned him but he’s just about to give up and go explore the world.

When Lex’s magical house makes her accidentally summon Lochran, she’s dismayed and uncomfortable but determined to be fair to him. Lochran is willing to wait, however long it takes, for Lex to be mentally ready for him because he knows her issues aren’t because of him. But Lex’s issues aren’t as historical as she wishes and they might just have followed her home…

This novella is dual POV, well written, and a sweet and steamy contemporary fantasy romance. I empathised with Lex’s concerns, especially given the situation she left behind. I enjoyed her perseverance in addressing her issues and appreciated the author’s honesty in noting this was cathartic for her. I enjoyed Lochran’s patience and his obliging nature. I enjoyed the way he was willing to give Lex exactly what he sensed she needed, even when it had a cost for him. I enjoyed the building intimacy between the characters and the way the intimate scenes directly contributed to the relationship development. I enjoyed the integrated secondary characters and am looking forward to more in this world from this author.

I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.

Belle Blakley’s Accidentally Summoned an Incubus is a spellbinding and sizzling paranormal romance that blends humor, heat, and a touch of magical chaos. ✨

🖤 Cinnamon Roll MMC
🖤 Fated Mates
🖤 Paranormal Romance
🖤 He Falls First

When 27-year-old witch Lex accidentally summons her fated mate—Lochran, a devilishly handsome incubus—her plans to quietly await trial for a well-deserved casted hex goes up in smoke.

In this book, Blakley weaves a captivating plot with endearing characters. Lex is a relatable FMC, juggling her inner conflict, her trial, and her electric, growing connection with Lochran. Lochran himself is a scene-stealer, combining roguish charm with some vulnerability that makes him utterly captivating. Their dynamic is equal parts witty, steamy, and heartwarming, making their love one to root for. I also loved the bond between Lex and Billy, her wolf-shifter best friend. Who doesn’t adore a protective and supportive bestie? Their dynamic added warmth and humor to the story, and now I’m definitely intrigued to read Billy’s story!

While some of the world-building could have been more in-depth and the ending felt a bit abrupt, the sharp dialogue, brisk pacing, and sizzling chemistry kept me thoroughly hooked from start to finish.

If you love paranormal romances packed with humor, heat, and fated-mate magic, Accidentally Summoned an Incubus is an enchanting read. Belle Blakley delivers a romance that’s as steamy as it is heartfelt, and I can’t wait to see what she conjures up next!

The fmc is an incubus witch who accidentally summons the mmc who is a succubus demon. Their relationship develops in the midst of a case against the fmc for using her magic against an abusive human boss.

Genre & Tropes - Fantasy, Witch, Sex Demon, Werewolf, Fated Mates, Sexual Harassment, Erotica, Multiple worlds

Setting - Home

Appropriate Age - 18+ for sex & violence

POV - Dual

I expected to barely make myself finish this book but it had more character development and story than I expected for a short erotica so I was pleasantly surprised. I felt like I was walking into a story that is in the middle of a series so I had to catch up on the characters and world.

Best suited for fans who like short fantasy romantic erotica stories

Story *** World ****
Main Characters *** Side Characters ***
Moving * Reader Frustration *
Slow burn ** Steam ****
Violence *** Humor **
Ending **** Deviant/Perverse *

Cons
- How things were handled with the bad guy seemed out of character for the rest of the story
- Could have been slightly longer for better background

Pros
- The best friend; I think her story will be good
- The house; can we have a story about that?
- The ending was sweet

Let me start with a disclaimer. This is my first time reading a book in this genre, so my review may be a bit skewed.

Story: A girl is forced to use magic and has to return to her hometown to face judgment. In this world, witches are fated to an incubus, but the girl refuses to summon her mate until an incident causes her mate to be summoned.

Overall, the story is neat and concise for this type of writing. I learned much about the world (which I'm a sucker for world-building), So the fact that I was able to understand what was happening in the world is impressive.

NSFW: I didn't know what to expect when first starting the book, and, to be honest, I was dreading it was going to be hardcore stuff. So, I was pleasantly surprised when it was relatively Vanilla compared to what I expected. Also, it felt organic and not forced, especially for a small-sized book, and its primary selling point is the NSFW. Keep up the excellent work, and I look forward to reading more.

Summary: For a story that is around 10K words, it's very impressive that you were able to tell a story that I was able to follow from beginning to end. I could see the growth with the main Female MC. The NSFW parts felt organic and were pretty Vanilla, which I liked. I enjoyed reading the story with a cup of tea and look forward to the next one in the series.
