Between Lives: Past-Life Regression, Near-Death Experiences, and the Evolution of Consciousness

Rate this book
• Explores evidence that shows consciousness exists independent of the brain, drawing on the latest research on savant syndrome, lucid dreaming, telepathy, out-of-body experiences, and past-lives

• Draws comparisons and insights from case studies of between-lives regression and near-death experiences—including one of the author’s own—to illustrate their commonalities and objective reality

• Offers tools to raise consciousness, clear past traumas, manage volatile energies, maintain boundaries, and transcend limitations

While neuroscience reveals much about the brain, it has not determined the precise relationship between the brain and consciousness. The authors probe the depths of this relationship while offering practical ways to develop and raise one’s own consciousness.

The authors examine evidence that supports the existence of consciousness independent of the brain, such as savant syndrome, lucid dreaming, telepathic communication in dreams, mediumship, and out-of-body experiences. The authors also consider case studies of near-death experiences—including Kumarasingham’s own—finding commonalities across such phenomena, particularly with between-lives memories gleaned through regression hypnosis. Readers will gain deeper awareness of the spiritual energy imbued within the physical world and learn how to transcend self-imposed limitations.

This book gives exercises to clear stagnant emotional patterns, strengthen relationships, better manage energies, build effective boundaries, and transcend self-imposed limitations. Between Lives offers readers on the spiritual path a means to better understand the nature of their consciousness and more effectively embody and optimize their journey through lives.

Between Lives: Past-Life Regression, Near-Death Experiences, and the Evolution of Consciousness by Andy Tomlinson and Reena Kumarasingham is a compelling and thoughtfully constructed exploration of consciousness that bridges spiritual experience, therapeutic practice, and emerging scientific inquiry.

Rather than positioning spirituality and neuroscience as opposing forces, the authors invite readers into a nuanced conversation about what consciousness may be and where it may exist. Drawing on case studies from between lives regression therapy, near death experiences (including Kumarasingham’s own), and phenomena such as savant syndrome, lucid dreaming, and out of body experiences, the book presents a cumulative argument that consciousness may operate independently of the physical brain.

What makes Between Lives particularly effective is its balance. The book does not rely solely on belief or anecdote, nor does it dismiss personal experience in favor of abstraction. Instead, it layers research, clinical observation, and lived accounts to reveal striking consistencies across cultures and experiences especially in the shared themes found in near death and between lives states.

Equally valuable are the practical elements. The included exercises for clearing emotional patterns, managing energetic boundaries, and raising consciousness ground the book’s expansive ideas in everyday application. This makes it not just a philosophical inquiry, but a usable guide for readers on a spiritual or therapeutic path.

Clear, accessible, and respectful of both skepticism and faith, Between Lives will resonate strongly with readers interested in consciousness studies, spiritual development, regression therapy, and the deeper questions of human existence. It is a book that encourages curiosity without dogma and reflection without fear.

A powerful blend of science, spirit, and practice

This is a wonderful book with the perfect mix of scientific explanation, spirituality, and practical exercises. I was fascinated by the thorough research on consciousness and near-death experiences—there is so much more already “out there” than we tend to realize!

The exercises in Part Two are especially heartfelt and grounded, offering simple yet profound ways to explore our inner world. A must-read for anyone curious about the deeper nature of existence and the potential of the human consciousness.
