The "DC All In Special" is a fast paced double -issue. On the one hand it serves to introduce the foundations of DC's new Absolute Universe and on the other it launches a new era for the traditional DC Justice League oriented universe. The book is a little hard to follow in places, but presents a set of high energy and engaging stories that provide a few tantalizing hints about the Absolute Universe and promise lots of exciting developments to come.

Pro Tip The two parts of this book can be read in any order, but most readers are likely to find that starting with the Justice League story will make the initial reading experience more coherent.

EN A 2-in-1 issue featuring two stories set in the two current DC universes, which ultimately converge in the same event.

Visually, it’s quite good, but the reading itself didn’t excite me at all.

I enjoyed the story on the “Absolute” side far more than the one in the regular universe. I also loved seeing the Golden Guardian again, a character I hadn’t come across in quite some time.

For a book that’s supposed to be a good entry point into the next phase of the DC Universe, this was a very confusing story for me, a relatively new DC reader. The Alpha section was pretty straightforward but you don’t get to know any of the characters aside from Booster Gold, and the Omega section, while containing awesome art, throws a lot at you without much sense. I get the gist, but I don’t think this was as entirely necessary a read as they’ve been saying it is. I bet you could jump into any of the All-In storylines or the new Absolute universe without having read this. This seems primarily for Justice League fans.

Finally they are giving Booster Gold a shot. Too bad he might die. The Absolute Universe looks interesting but also scary. If this is Darkside’s world, look out.

Both sides of the story are quite compelling and in distinct ways: the JL side sets up an interesting new phase for the league with complex themes of acceptance and self-doubt; the absolute side is primal and mythic as Darkseid travels through Heaven and Hell for truths about the universe.

Also, damn, Wes Craig’s art is stunning.

Had read all the Absolute storylines and only just realized this was the one that kicked it all off. Big swings, bold setups, and some fun hooks—especially the Booster Gold bits—but it lacks much in the way of payoff and reads more like a prologue than a full story. I’m glad the main titles deliver more, though I’m a bit surprised there isn’t much tie-in to this so far.

This was so good!! The art was fantastic and I love how many characters make an appearance, the way the story is told in two halves that blend together is also very cool! I look forward to what comes next!!

3,5 stars.

This is a special edition that presents the future of DC in this new “All In” phase and also shows the creation of the Absolute Universe.

I was very curious to see what would happen here, especially because of the new formation of the JL, which made me very excited because it looked like the cartoon that made me fall in love with all these characters.

This is a “double-sided” edition, with one side shows the main universe and the other is about the absolute universe. The transition between the stories is really cool, but I was a little confused about Darkseid.
In the plot, they don't understand who this Darkseid is. They think he's from their universe, but he's from the Absolute universe, and this lack of context (for those who haven't followed the previous comics, like me) left me a little lost.

Besides that, it's an interesting introduction. It focused on a fun character I don't know very well, the Booster Gold. And it leaves loose ends for things that may happen in the future of the absolute universe.

3,5 estrelas.

I started with the Justice League 52 Days Later side. I enjoyed it. It made sense. It was nice to see Booster getting props from Sups and then stumbling in late as usual... Tbh, I don't know a hell of lot about Booster, but I liked him in Sanctuary and his friendship with Ted K is awesome. I know the gist of his backstory and the kind of guy he is. I've always thought he'd be good in Flash crossovers.

Should also say I didn't read Absolute Power.

Then I hit the mid point and switched to the 52 Days Earlier side with Darkseid (hm, 52 days huh? DC's gonna stick with that for a long time, I see - even at the beginning of a reboot). And here the comic lost me. It's Darkseid. There's not a lot you need to know. But there are so many words and it's so convoluted. Darkseid is. Darkseid has a role. He is the only one. Blah blah blah. Look, I love Williamson's writing, but this needed to be trimmed and streamlined. Because then the ultimate want is ... ಠ_ಠ

There are no rules! (Put your shirt back on.)

And honestly, the first thought I had about the Quintessence saying they could easily kill Darkseid was the recent Dark-Winged Queen arc in Titans, where everyone was swatted away like nothing by *Trigon* 🙄 DC...figure it out. Supes going down made sense given his weakness to magic, but The Spectre was like nothing there and here he, and the rest of the Quintessence, are properly power leveled. Anyway.

I am still hyped for the Absolutes and the arrival of Elseworlds into main continuity - the 3 Jokers will make more sense that way - but the first half of this stoked my excitement and the second half killed it. JL v Darkseid. Guess that's appropriate.

Every year it feels like the justice league announces some big initiative to bring in every hero and somehow nothing ever comes of it? Weird huh? Okay book but kinda felt more like a preview than anything else. The interior art was very good on both sides, and the flip book format is so original and interesting !

I’ve been reading a lot of older dc comics in an effort to see where the characters started and to build myself up to the new stuff, but then they have to go along and provide the perfect jumping off point. I haven’t read absolute power or the other parts of the series that came before this, so I feel slightly guilty, but I’m excited to start from here and revisit those sometime in the future, as this issue evidently proves is a great starting point.

This issue includes two perspectives that tell of the greater threat to the dc universe and where we will be going. On a conceptually level: darkseid is. The universe must have a darkseid in order to balance itself, that’s why you never see any other darkseid’s as he is unique. But what if darkseid no longer wants to be. Through his vast resources and power he forced a wish machine to be created on apocalypse, that he bonded to through his blood and the blood of Kalibak. Once he has this all powerful machine, it was time to perform an all powerful task…and he went hunting for spectre. He tore through heaven and hell, until getting to the dark side of the moon where he found Eclipso. After defeating eclipso with a well timed bomb that increased the light of the closest sun, he found Jim chained up nearby. Now using his wish machine he was able to force the spirit of spectre to bond with him. This obviously doesn’t go well with the spiritual side of the dc universe as the Quintessence, who I’ve never actually heard of before today, tried to stop him. The spectre also tried to force him to stop and the heroes of the justice league were called from there first reformed team meeting to stop him. And with the help of the mystics it appears that they were able to rip spectre away from darkseid, but to darkseid it was meaningless what he wanted to happen occurred. Darkseid was and darkseid ends. And along with it the new absolute universe is born. Instead of a world being driven by hope and life, it is driven by challenge and turmoil. And that is where our new absolute lines take place. But everything is not as cut and dry as it seems as the end of this story shows and the secondary Justice league perspective shows.

As I mentioned I didn’t read the absolute power storyline, but this takes place directly after this. I guess all I need to know is that stuff went down and our heroes won but came out bruised and beaten. Now it’s time to combine their efforts and that starts with the reformation of a bigger better Justice league! Which also means membership cards!! And these aren’t just some tacky cards, these are designed by the greatest in human and alien tech and even mystical side of the dc universe. They are able to be sent directly to those who need it, and according to Mr terrific later on they are personalized for each hero to help and augment their abilities and match them up with others to do the same. But not all the cards were automatically delivered, as Superman decided to deliver booster gold’s himself. It’s so heartwarming to see how these characters have grown over the years. I haven’t been there for everything but just simply comparing to booster gold’s first series and the rift between supes and him. Booster really has grown into a formidable hero. And these membership cards are not knew to booster, he has seen them before in his future as a symbol of a peaceful and unifying time of heroism. They even have a blank card on display as a representation that any new members are welcome.

And along with all the new members they need to have a new bigger and better watchtower, with the question patrolling it!! I can’t wait for that series. Unfortunately their meeting is cut majorly short by the moves darkseid has been making. As suddenly a portal is opened in their watchtower and they are met with the ultra powerful darkseid merged with spectre. Talk about having it rough on your first day. We now see from their heroes perspective how quick they rallied together and figured out how to separate darkseid from spectre, and then how they witnessed darkseid end. Leaving a rift in the watchtower and infecting the blank Justice league card with anti life energy. Later on they call in Orion and he is not even sure where darkseid is. The universe needs a darkseid and with him gone, it will work to make a new one. So he runs back off to new genesis to consult highfather.

The membership card and the rift are all that is left, and acts as a sort of doorway. I haven’t been involved in all the recent events but since the “multiverse was cut off” mister terrific noticed something. A new world that wasn’t activated an alpha world. After defeating the darkest knights, in the dark nights death metal storyline, their timeline was restored and new worlds were detected. And now that new alpha world has changed, and radiates the same energy of darkseid. Exactly what we saw darkseid create in the other storyline. There is talk about going in there and finding out what’s happening, but that would be incredibly dangerous. One way the multiverse is described is that all the worlds occupy the same space at different vibrations and the vibrations on this world are chaotic. If they become less chaotic there is no telling what could happen. The only people that could safely RR bel there are those with a high abundance of tachyon particles…so time travelers. And of course we have one big one…booster gold!!

Skeets is setup with an automatic 10 minute return in case they loose contact when booster goes in. Just don’t loose skeets. Now at this point of the story we actually see this situation from both sides. Booster gold heads into the rift and finds a world taken over by darkseid. Omega symbol gleaming from the daily planet. Booster and skeets when in around the same time but were separated, and he has lost contact with the others .Booster measures what time and place he is at and exclaims that he has to send back a warning. Only to be attacked by darkseid. But something isn’t right…in both worlds he looks and sees darkseid but then notices the ring darkseid is wearing. It almost looks like booster’s ring but with an omega symbol instead of the legion. It even has the star. Back in the watchtower things don’t look good either as they are talking about following booster, only a vibration to occur and time has gone back. They returned to a point before sending booster in.

And both parts of this issue conclude with darkseid proclaiming that he finally has his army…his legion. As we look on in horror at the legion of superheroes decked out with omega symbols. The only funny thing is that triplicate girl still has three because darkseid didn’t kill one of them.

This was such a great starting point to the dc universe and I can’t wait to keep following from here.

A new era in DC begins!

I bought the physical comic book edition but I choose this "kindle" edition to make my review since the other option didn't seem totally right either.

This is one-shot issue, serving as initial point in a new era in DC Comics, featuring two stories, one for the “All In” comic book line of DC and other for the new “Absolute” universe. Both stories are interconnected. Both stories can be read in any other, and both ended using a shared “center spread page”.

Creative Team

“Alpha” story

Writers: Joshua Williamson & Scott Snyder

Illustrator: Daniel Sampere

“Center Spreard Artist”: Dan Mora

“Omega” story

Writers; Scott Snyder & Joshua Williamson

Illustrator: Wes Craig

ALPHA

In this story, the new Justice League becomes “Justice League Unlimited” inviting the largest roster so far of super-heroes trying to be the best ever possible team, using all the resources available to them including Terran cutting-edge technology, along with alien technology of several alien worlds, but even using magical means!

A few super-heroes denied the offer, but the most of them, gladly go to the inaugural even in their brand-new headquarters in the biggest Watchtower ever bulit by the Justice League.

In the middle of this, an uninvited guest arrives…

DARKSEID!!!

Ans in the middle of this, the need of a time-traveler will be vital to track Darkseid and there goes in Booster Gold, and he will get terrified meeting the “new team” assembled by Darkseid!

OMEGA

Darkseid creates the most powerful machine ever conceived employing elements from the past, preesent and future…

…a Miracle Machine!

Which can be do any wish of the elected user (here I have some doubt since one requisite to designate the proper user for the Miracle Machine is blood and so far I understood need to be blood of the user (or at least of the same family) but at some point, Darkseid gives some of his blood but when the machine asks for more blood, he uses the blood of Kalibak, his son, BUT Kalibak isn’t really his son, he did in peace truce with High Father and they interchange sons, therefore, Kalibak was originally son of High Father and Orion was originally son of Darkseid (even in the previous story Orion appears referring to him as his father), so I don’t know how the Kalibak’s blood could be accepted for this (unless this will become a “clever twist” later in the following storylines).

In any case, Darkseid wish to be united with the essense of the Spectre, and you can guess that this won’t end well to the safety of the multiverse.

Here, you see once again Booster Gold tracking Darkseid and meeting his fearful new team!
