No longer the outsiders, our refugees have found themselves firmly part of the Establishment. For some reason, that doesn't make life any easier. Rather it complicates things in ways that they simply couldn't anticipate with responsibilities that they didn't have before. Will they thrive despite the new adversity or crumble under the pressure?
I enjoyed the series for what it was, a fun “what if?” story. I was looking forward to book 5 as the wrap up but got a teenager’s fantasy and a dragon. The book wanders around lost and rushed. The typos and grammatical mistakes made it almost painful to read.
The latest book has morphed into a disappointing love story. The focus seems to be on the kinkiness of being in a multi party marriage and the dynamics of being in a multi verse are now almost inconsequential to the story line. Ended up skipping most of the book.
I really enjoyed the crazy, creative, fast moving stories in this series. They were so much fun! What I grew to really dislike were the many, many mistakes and misused words. At times there are several in a page. Things like, “Agustus Ceaser”, “more the marrier”, “to everyone’s emense relief”, and “limmitations in resources “. Would it really kill the author or publisher to employ a proofreader, or even use spell check? It seriously takes away from the story. All in all, I enjoyed it. I’m not sure if there will be more books in the series, I hope so, but if not, things were wrapped up nicely this time.
Buck continues to construct and enhance the Duchy of America, much to the chagrin of his foes who seem determined to throw a wrench in the works. Juggling domestic affairs as he navigates the delicate dance between his two spouses is no easy feat, but our hero rises to the occasion. Wielding an arsenal of steamships, cannons, a plane, and a trusty dragon he defend the kingdom. The action, humor, community-building, and romance make for a delightful read, leaving us eagerly anticipating the next installment.
I have just started book 6. I have really enjoyed the story telling the characters are likeable and the story line is a fun read. What I didn't like was the plethora of misspellings, grammatical errors, use of incorrect words or words completely missing. They cannot be classed as typos because misspellings are consistent through the six books for example Parlament instead of Parliament and many cases of double consonants between two vowels. I was hooked by the story so I will finish the series but the poor editing makes reading a tough slog so I will not read any more of this author after I finish.
So many authors today fill their pages with so much details of surroundings that can’t follow the story. Vlad tells his story as a story teller. Which makes them so enjoyable
I actually really liked this book 5 of the series. The relationship between Buck and his women is wonderful. My one complaint is that there are many misspellings and grammatic errors. It detracts from the quality of the writing
I'm loving this series, somehow I missed one of the books in the Amazon transaction, but, made it through it, not as many battles in this one, still a great read!
