After a long shift at her downtown Kansas City office, Andrea Huxley was looking forward to nothing more than spending the long Thanksgiving weekend with her teenage daughter, Ava, the first such holiday since the pair had escaped an abusive life with their husband and father, Samael. Heading for the parking lot and their late-night ride home, they encounter a man who is bleeding profusely from a knife wound. The good Samaritans can't ignore his plight, and stop to render what aid they can.
They soon discover that they are in the unfortunate position of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. The bleeding man isn't the only one who is in mortal danger, because those who are responsible are closing in, trying to finish the grisly job.
