They say we inherit the sins of those who came before us, a curse handed down from father to son, generation after generation. But me—I carry my own sin. A deep, insatiable hunger, a craving for blood that never fades.

Until I saw her.

There was something in her eyes, a spark of warmth in all that coldness. I knew I needed her. I wanted her to come outside, to play in the snow with me, to build a snowman. And maybe… just maybe… if we could be like children again, if we could lose ourselves in the frost and cold, she could save me.

🌶️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️

This beta read was my first read of the year.
It set the bar so freaking high holy crappppp.
This author is amazing. I have loved every single book I’ve read by her. The way she writes is beautifully breathtaking.
She builds worlds in a way I do not read often at all.
And she surprises even the most well read reader. She manages to trick me and pull things out of left field when I thought I had figured out most plot lines to most dark books lol.
She writes psychological thrillers that keep you guessing, it’s also spicy af, and absolutely hotttt.
Everyone should read this book.

I am obsessed with A.eM. I will forever read anything she writes. This book is perfect. Dexter vibes but SIGNIFICANTLY darker. Scandi noir at its finest with 100+ TW’s. The way she absolutely crushes your soul is masterful. I do not cry. I was a blubbering mess in the final
moments of this. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND 🖤 but also prepare to be emotionally destroyed.

“I will make it right, I whispered to myself, my breathing a cloud in the freezing air. I will make them pay.”

"It's my fucking turn now," he growled, pulling me closer until I could feel his breath against my ear. "You have no idea how long I've been waiting."

This is by far the most disturbing book I’ve ever read. I find it deeply unsettling and, at times, even unbearable—it pushes the boundaries of what I can tolerate as a reader. I don’t like it at all. The only reason I continued is because of the unanswered questions I need answered.

summary : A dark mix of Scandinavian thriller and serial killer tropes, awkwardly paired with a rushed, implausible romance. The instant love story feels tone-deaf amid the horror, kidnapping, and trauma. Add poorly written multiple personalities and a nonstop barrage of horrific events ( so many and worse than you can imagine), and there’s no room to breathe — or make any sense of what’s happening.

And everyone who rated this 5 stars is either lying or was paid 😑

This book was one of my most anticipated reads and man was it a good one. Throughout the entire story I was so focused on all the secrets and mysteries and it kept me engaged in every single chapter. I couldn’t put this book down once I started reading it. Plot twist after plot twist, they just kept coming and most of them I never once seen coming! Also… that ending?!?!? WTH! I don’t even know how to feel after reading that. You will just have to take the chance reading this book to understand what I’m talking about!! This story is a definite must read and easily a five star read from me! This authors writing is amazing and I will keep reading anything she writes!!

Tell me why this book had me crying by the end? I don’t know what I was expecting with the title or the cover image but it wasn’t what I got. This was a wild ride as are most of my reads but this one really was crazy. Every time I thought I had things figured out something new developed.

I remember like 10 years ago a movie came out The Snowman and while it wasn’t amazing the story was a unique concept. Parts of this book reminded me of what I wished the movie had been. It was an awesome read…the ending was a complete 180. But in the best way.

I’m shook. I know that’s doesn’t provide much but once you read the ending of this book you will be left in a state.
If the intention was to thrill the reader.. congratulations you succeeded
If the intention was to emotionally yank the reader from comfort… mission accomplished.
If the intention was to create a an internal screaming twisty story the award belongs to you.
The story starts out in a diner and a man walks in ..one look at him and we take a trip down memory lane.

Food ruined by reading this book: popsicles

Dark. Traumatic. Beautiful. Soul-wrenching. Haunting. Poetic.

A.EM is officially a new obsession. Her books are not light and fluffy escapes—they're haunting, tragic, and so painfully beautiful that you feel every single word crawl beneath your skin. Each chapter wraps around you like smoke and sorrow, and before you even realize it, your heart is breaking and your soul is quietly shattering.

Snowman? Ah. I am a huge—and I mean huge—fan of this book. Thor is a tragically beautiful mess of a man. His heart isn’t just cold—it’s frozen, locked beneath layers of pain and grief because that’s how he survived. His fragmented personalities aren’t just a plot device—they are the manifestation of trauma, abandonment, and the crushing weight of trying to be okay when the world keeps tearing you apart.

And Bree? Don’t even get me started. She’s raw and tender and hurting and so real. I wanted to reach into the pages and just hold her. Her pain is unspoken poetry, and her strength is the quiet kind—the kind born from surviving what was never fair to begin with.

Snowman is not a love story wrapped in sweetness. It’s raw. It’s unrelenting. It’s poetic in a way that feels like bleeding. It captures the uncertainty of being human—the wrong choices, the heavy emotions, the trauma we carry, and the hope we still cling to even when we’re drowning.

It’s brutal. It’s flawed. It’s real.

This book devastated me in the best way. It reminded me that beauty doesn’t always come dressed in light—sometimes, it’s found in the broken, jagged places. In the moments where love is uncertain, people are messy, and healing is nonlinear.

Do yourself a favor: read this book. Then sit in the quiet and let it haunt you. Because Snowman will live in your chest long after the final page, like a Phantom that refuses to be forgotten.

HOLY CRAP! WOW! JUST WOW!! This book was dark, twisted, and freaking amazing! A. eM is the freaking queen of dark psychological thrillers! This book had me on an emotional rollercoaster of a ride. I couldn’t put it down. It didn’t matter if I was mad, sad, or a few times of happiness… I was HOOKED!

Bree is a sheltered young woman who recently moved to a new town with her parents and sister. Everything she ever thought was true, it was a lie. The twists that just kept on coming…I couldn’t believe them. I was in complete shock every single time.

The Snowman…I wanted so badly for him to get a happily ever after, but he was not destined to have one. He was sick and twisted, but I liked him. Maybe that says something about me. 🫣

If you are looking for a HEA, this is not the book for you. If you read the 100+ trigger warnings and you’re okay with them, then you will love this psychological masterpiece.

Snowman, Snowman, Snowman!!

What can I say about Snowman other than I loved it, well him!

A. has written another mind-fucking book and I'm here for every second of it!!

Snowman is everything you think, when you see there are over 100+ trigger warnings.

I can't even express how much I enjoyed reading about Snowman and Bree. Bree being the young, innocent, FMC who becomes the object of Snowman's obsession. Snowman, the thrilling, dangerous, serial killer who you love to hate.

A. has such a way with writing her plots, storyline, and developing her characters, that you can't put one of books down until you finish it.

This is definitely one of my new favourite books by A.eM. As always though, you love to hate A when you read any of her books.

You will laugh, you will cry, and Snowman will tear out your heart, just like House of Clowns did.

What can I say! I enjoyed this book so much, the way it kept you guessing through out the whole time

Aem has a writing style that perfectly describes what's happening and feeds you snippets of information that allows you to put the information together and discover what's happening on a deeper level yourself in the best way !

I felt so many emotions with this book! Rage, sadness, shock, lust (like hello Mr snowman killer) 😅

Would highly recommend this for people who like something more on the dark physiological side of things

There are also 100 trigger warnings !

Have I cried? I did.
Have I laughed? I did.
Have I thought about killing A? For sure I did.
Have I realized this book is probably gonna put me in a reading slump? Nope, I'm ignoring this fact.

Please, oh please, read this book.

Just... Read it.
I can't say anything else or I'll start spoil everything 🤣🤣🤣

Just know that this book is not a masterpiece but even better, it's gonna destroy you on an atomic level and leave you there, scattered.

And uh, good fucking luck 🤣🖤

Also, this IS a psychological thriller, but in my opinion it was lighter (BUT WAY BETTER) than others I've read before now.

•ARC review•

From the beginning, I was captivated by the story, you knew right away that something wasn’t right with Bree ‘s family. The more I read on, the more I realized that the plot was intertwined with everything and it was actually a what the f**ck moment. The flashbacks were convenient to help maintain the confusion, but also to somehow divulge tiny bits of info that started to make sense in the present.

A eM knows how to weave an atmosphere so eerie and unsettling, there’s not one single book I’ve read from her that it wasn’t spot on. The tension is always immersive, and that’s one of the reasons why I tend to fly through the pages increasingly fast.

The ending though. That’s all I’m gonna say. Check your trigger warnings.

Thank you to A em for the arc!

⚠️ Heavy Triggers ⚠️

I went into Snowman with an open mind and high interest. Psychological thrillers and thriller romances are genuinely a genre I've had interest in for years and years, and this book had a compelling premise with a lot of dark, intriguing ideas. Unfortunately, execution matters, and this story collapses under the weight of its own excess.

The biggest issue is that Snowman tries to do too much, too fast, with no grounding.

!! SPOILER!!

Cults, kidnapping, cannibalism, incest, vigilante justice, split personalities, traumatic abuse, stalking, extreme sexual violence, and dark romance are all present, but none of them are explored with the depth, logic, or psychological realism they require. Instead of weaving together into a cohesive narrative, they feel like a checklist of trending tropes, included for shock value rather than compelling story.

The cult backstory alone could have carried an entire novel, yet it’s riddled with contradictions. The motivations of Bree’s captors are unclear, the timeline doesn’t hold up, and the behavior of both adults and children contradicts even the most basic understanding of cult dynamics. Major reveals raise more questions than answers, character decisions (especially Mel’s) shift so abruptly that they lose all emotional impact, and pivotal moments clearly meant to be either horrifying or tragic often feel confusing instead.

Bree herself, unfortunately, is a large part of why the story fails to land emotionally. She isn’t unlikable; she’s underwritten. For most of the book, she functions as a blank slate for terrible things to happen to rather than a fully realized character with a distinct personality, inner life, or agency. While I felt empathy for what she endured, I didn’t feel particularly invested in her because I never truly got to know her.

When Bree does attempt to assert herself, it’s often reduced to repeated declarations of strength rather than meaningful growth. Her reliance on authority figures to make decisions for her is understandable given her trauma, but the narrative never allows her to evolve beyond that dependence. I kept waiting for a psychological breaking point, a transformation, or even a darker internal turn that might parallel or challenge Snowman… but it never comes. There were multiple opportunities for her to reclaim agency, confront her abusers directly, or even become an active partner in her own survival and recovery. Instead, her arc remains largely passive and unresolved.

Snowman himself initially promises a Dexter-style vigilante arc, but that premise is quickly abandoned. Justice is inconsistently applied, major antagonists receive anticlimactic endings, and the serial killer aspect fades once the "romance" takes center stage. What could have been a compelling exploration of morality and control turns into narrative convenience.

The romance is where the book becomes most uncomfortable. Bree is a sheltered nineteen-year-old who has just survived extreme sexual violence, yet the relationship escalates rapidly and aggressively without adequate emotional development or sustained access to her internal perspective. Consent is assumed rather than explored, and sexual encounters push into extreme territory without reflection, recovery, or consequence. Dark romance can, and should, handle difficult material responsibly. This book does not.

The ending fails both emotionally and thematically. What could have been a tragic but complete arc instead spirals into additional twists clearly designed to force a sequel: new personalities, implausible choices, contradictory motivations, and a lack of closure that feels unearned rather than intriguing. All of this left me feeling utterly exhausted and confused.

I also found myself questioning the abundance of five-star reviews praising the book’s “insane twists and turns.” For me, nothing about this story truly read as a thriller, psychological or otherwise. Most of the reveals were either easy to predict or felt anticlimactic, especially if you’re familiar with the genre or have a basic understanding of human behavior. As a result, the tension the book promises never fully materializes.

This isn’t a case of “you just didn’t get it.” Ambiguity and unreliable narration only work when the foundation is solid. Here, the logic breaks down, trauma is treated as a plot device, and the psychological elements never fully show up.

Snowman had the bones of a strong psychological thriller, but a passive central character combined with too many ideas, too little development, and an unwillingness to commit to any one direction leave it feeling disjointed and unsatisfying. Readers looking for shock over substance may enjoy it, but those expecting a grounded psychological thriller or a thoughtfully executed dark romance will likely walk away disappointed.

what in the actual fuck was that? seriously? when i tell you this book broke me and put me back together so many times... i have never cried so much in my love,i felt whole, then i was broken, then i was confused, then i thought i figured it out (i didn't) & then i actually figured it out and spent the rest of the book in fkn tears😭

bree,snowman... what a whirlwind that was literally i've never felt so broken by a book before,i seriously im sat crying writing this... i write notes,i plan these reviews but this doesn't feel right for this one, everything written here is sheer, raw emotion.. when i tell you this book stuck with me... i literally dreamt about it everyday i finished it for the day,i took my time,i absorbed everything in this book & i literally feel like im a changed person because of it,it is absoultely insane.. it is depraved,it is so incredibly taxing mentally to read but when i tell you A has a way with words ive yet to be found comparable to ANYBODY... this author,my friend because thats truly what she feels like,i tell you is not only a master at her craft but her brain is the most beautiful thing that exists in my world now... i loved house of clowns and fell in love with A since then, this isn't dark romance,it isn't a thriller, let me tell you this a category on its own because it literally can not be clumped together with any other story, this is truly the lost physiologically demanding book i've read to date and ive loved every single second of it.. leaving this book having a headache, feeling truly like the life has been sucked out of me is why i love A so much, because her books make me FEEL and they bring out a raw emotion, when i tell you i audibly screamed in parts,i mean it! i sobbed like my life depended on it... i broke down... tbe letter, the story, the characters, the meanings, the interior quotes broke me!! the one that sticks out most is :

"this world breaks little girls,so little boys can live" and when i tell you i felt that in my fucking chest & it literally felt like i was sucker punched!!

this review truly doesn't feel right to be formal to even be thought out,it is literally spoken from the heart from somebody who has been utterly consumed and is a changed woman because of this story,A forever looks into the details, her quotes, her formatting, her writing style is unmatched and unlike anything ever seen before,i promise🩶

i could tell you about the story but when i tell you could never do this justice,no amount of summaries or shortened parts or quotes will ever do a story like this justice,so all i can truly say is please, please give this story a chance, please give A a chance because i can promise you,it isn't just a smutty dark
romance,it is a true story of undying love,of the sheer lengths somebody will go for the person they love!!

please check your tw's as she is a depraved one but honestly if you can,it is worth it to end to read this in its enterity,to make notes,to absorb the story,to love the characters so deeply and to go through this story with them, because in the end,it's beautiful even in its unconventional HEA🫶🏼

overall rating?? ♾️ it isn't possible to rate this any lower.. ever! i love a lot of books, but this one... this one has changed me!!

characters??? ♾️ bree, snowman, erik, julia, mel they all changed me and reading their story and getting to know them is literally impossible to give a low rating🥹

plot?? ♾️ best plot in any story i have ever read,a true novel but more than that.. ART

smut?? 🌶️🌶️🌶️ this isn't a smutty story, this isn't a dark romance, when i tell you the smut ADDS to the story but the story itself stands alone even if no smut was there & i would read and shout about it just the same if their was not one sexual act in this book!!

A.eM. is an amazing writer, She gives you the best love stories of all time with the worst heartbreak but it fits so beautifully together and through the tears you smile cause you can't do anything else but smile as you cry. Beautiful absolutely beautiful.

I've never been disappointed by one of her books. She writes these dark and twisted stories that are also somehow beautiful and romantic. "Snowman" is a perfect example of that.

This book was an emotional rollercoaster. I laughed, I cried, I was scared, and I was completely absorbed the entire time. A.eM. has a way of making you feel like you're right there in the story with the characters.

The plot twists were crazy. She knows how to keep you guessing until the very end.

"Snowman" is a dark and intense read, but it's so worth it. If you're looking for a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat, this is the one for you.

There are so many quotes that I can give you from this book but here are a few.

This first ine though (popsicles)
"Have you ever got burned by snow?" he asked, his eyes locked onto me, "I did, it's cold."

"I needed him more than air, I needed him more than water, and he was the food that fueled my soul. Even though it hurt so damn much, I still wanted him."

"Leaves fall, Snow melts, Everything ends, to begin, Again."

"Still, I couldn't help but wish. I wished for a better life, one that didn't come in broken pieces. I wanted more. I needed more. And in that moment, I knew what I had to do."

"I will make it right, I whispered to myself, my breathing a cloud in the freezing air. I will make them pay."

"Oh, birdie, birdie," he said, his voice a low rasp. "You're the one who won't leave my fucking mind, huh?"

Mind fucked. She fucked my mind. And with a cliff hanger.

The ways I wasn’t going to read this book just because the triggers is longer than my grocery list. But, A.eM knows me, and she knows me well - that I have no triggers. The dedication alone…

“𝚃𝚘 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚐𝚒𝚛𝚕𝚜 𝚠𝚑𝚘 𝚛𝚎𝚊𝚍 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚝𝚛𝚒𝚐𝚐𝚎𝚛 𝚠𝚊𝚛𝚗𝚒𝚗𝚐𝚜 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝚜𝚊𝚠 𝚊 𝚜𝚝𝚘𝚛𝚢 𝚠𝚘𝚛𝚝𝚑 𝚜𝚞𝚛𝚟𝚒𝚟𝚒𝚗𝚐.”

…utter perfection!

This psychological thriller romance was everything and I devoured the hell out of it. I am so glad she gave me the push to read it. A has a way of giving you the best romance, while tearing out your heart. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, devastatingly beautiful! The way she develops her characters and gives you such an amazing plot with so many twists and turns. You honestly can’t put her books down! Life, nah, ignore that shit. I mean sheesh…they’re complex. This was a banger in all the ways.

Snowman…he’s fire and ice! Intriguing and smart. A damaged soul, unknowingly dying to love. Brutal and obsessive. This man, I’d burn in the snow for.

“𝚃𝚑𝚎 𝚠𝚘𝚛𝚕𝚍 𝚍𝚘𝚎𝚜 𝚋𝚛𝚎𝚊𝚔 𝚕𝚒𝚝𝚝𝚕𝚎 𝚐𝚒𝚛𝚕𝚜, 𝚋𝚞𝚝 𝚜𝚘𝚖𝚎𝚝𝚒𝚖𝚎𝚜, 𝚒𝚝 𝚋𝚛𝚎𝚊𝚔𝚜 𝚕𝚒𝚝𝚝𝚕𝚎 𝚋𝚘𝚢𝚜 𝚝𝚘𝚘.”

A’s mind and writing skills will continue to amaze me. Homegirl almost always leaves me speechless…and that’s a hard thing to accomplish.

Ever since I read House of Clowns, I knew that A eM was an extremely special author. She has such a way with words and descriptions. She can extract emotions you didn’t even know you had from your body. I thought house of clowns broke me, but joke is on me because THIS BOOK actually broke me. I am not a crier and the way I bawled at the end, it was an emotional exorcism. I read a lot of genres because I like books that make me FEEL things. And this book did that so well and so hard, I don’t know if I will ever be the same.

I’ll never forget this book. And I will read everything A eM ever writes. Snowman had such a profound impact on me that I stared at a wall for an hour after I finished and it’s taken me four days to form words for a review. If you’re into super dark, super graphic, exceptionally twisty, fast paced and angsty yet beautiful yet gut wrenching stories grab some tissues and read this book! Make sure you check the trigger list, it’s longer than a CVS receipt and no joke. This book is not for the faint of heart but it is for everyone who wants to have their minds blown and souls shattered. The spicy parts were amazing, the plot was totally unpredictable. Five stars doesn’t feel like enough…

"Have you ever got burned by snow?" he asked, his eyes locked onto me, "I did, it's cold."

“I needed him more than air, I needed him more than water, and he was the food that fueled my soul. Even though it hurt so damn much, I still wanted him.“

“Every snowflake falls exactly where it’s meant to. Even me.”

Every time A. eM writes a book I tell myself I’m not gonna cry. Every time I end up crying 😂.

The best way to describe this book is a rollercoaster you’re scared to go on, but end up loving it, and wanting to do it again!!

I was on the edge of my seat the entire time! I was also arguing with myself over different theories of who Snowman really is.

I’m going to be completely honest. I fell in love with Snowman the very first time we met him. Sure he’s a st@lker and a s3rial k!ller, but he also has a caring side to him. He will stop at nothing to make sure justice is served and the girl he loves is safe.

The mid-end of the book shocked me and the letter… The letter made me bawl. (I tear up thinking about it 😭) Not to mention the connection to the families 🤯.

The ENDING! What the hell was that? I need the next book ASAP! That was one of the best/ worst cliffhangers I’ve ever read!

I am obsessed with Snowman and his story and I can’t wait to see what A. eM writes next!

P.S. I will never look at antlers or popsicles the same ever again (iykyk 😂)

Favorite Quotes:
“Ocean blue, I found my favorite color.”

“I had to see her, even from afar, even if it meant risking everything.”

“For her, I wanted to be more, someone normal. A man who could take care of her. A man she deserved.”

“You don’t need to be fixed, You just need to be loved.”

“I’ll be whoever you need me to be. But no matter who I am, I will always choose you.”

“In hell or heaven, I didn’t care, as long as I was by his side.”

I don't even know where to start. Going into this, starting a new A.eM book, I knew what I was getting myself into... plot twists that makes you go "what the actual f#@" spice that leaves you hot beyond your wildest imagination, suspense that makes you grip the edge of your seat, romance that makes you swoon for days, a psychological mind f#@ of note, that makes you question your own sanity and an ending that will leave you shocked!

I have read all A.eM books, and she never disappoints. But I have to say she has outdone herself with Snowman. Every single detail, every single plot, and every last detail was meticulously thought out and executed, like I've never seen before from chapter 1, straight through to chapter 30. God only knows how many times I had wtf moments, the tension, the suspense, the wanting to know why, how, when was absolutely thrilling and addictive. The backstory of both characters, Bree and Snowman, tore your heart out , and the character development is amazing that no words could describe how this book made me feel. I had about 6 emotions running wild at the same time.

If A.eM writes it, I will definitely read it and re-read it over and over. Not only is her writing phenomenal, but her storytelling is something next level!

Please read the trigger warnings they are there for a reason.

THIS book is absolutely amazing. Once i started it i simply couldn't stop reading it. The emotions that i went through reading this felt like i was on a rollercoaster that never ended.
I was happy, shocked, sad, mad, every emotion you can think of i felt it reading this.
I was def not expecting half of the things that happen to happen but when it did i was like oh my.

A. Em. ripped out my heart and soul cherishing it and then squishing it while i watched with this book!

A must read for 2025! If you don't i hope you feel the FOMO. lol hehe
