You know when you sometimes find yourself in a “book slump” and you are trying to find something interesting to read? Well, when that happens I usually go check out previous books from some of my favorite authors, and that’s how I ended up finding this series by the amazingly talented Annabel Chase. After reading her most recent series “Crossroads Queen” which turned out to be ONE of my all-time favorites (if haven’t read it, you are missing out!), I couldn’t help myself by comparing it to to this one and lets just say that even though I thoroughly enjoyed it, it wasn’t as amazing as the aforementioned one. If you are into colorful characters, magic, lots of action, a bit of romance, a plenty of twist and turns then you will definitely want to give this one a try. I think the problem I had with this series is that even though I really liked the FMC Alyse, always ended up in more trouble that she could handle and always had to be rescued by one of her friends. Alyse is still a fierce, smart and super likable character, but it would have been nice if she could have been able to outmaneuver more frequently her attackers without getting hurt at every turn. Alyse is a magical djinni and works for a powerful group, but unfortunately ends up in the crosshairs of someone with even more power. She blacks out and finds her powers bound and herself transported back home to where everything all began for her and where she least wants to be - but where she at least has friends sand some allies, home in Philadelphia.
The whole series is brilliantly written and I read it in an entire evening - love writer Annabel Chase and her remarkable work!
Alyse is a fiery, spunky “take no prisoners” kind of heroine who develops into a wonderful leader and friend, with a terrific group of friends who are family we all want for ourselves and the best kind of ending - and an absolutely worthwhile read
Spectacular writing . This set has it all. The characters are cheeky, funny, ambitious, foolish, brave and lots of other things. The storyline is evolving extraordinarily and brings out the best possible in respect of honor, trust, teamwork and belief. You really can immerse yourself in the series and "be there". The trials, battles, wins and losses can be "felt" . A perfect set for anyone loving to read. Magical in a very sense.
I absolutely loved this box set, the main character was funny, and I enjoyed reading about her growth in finding out what type of person she really is, I would have loved to have found out the outcome of there final mission though, but I still enjoyed the ending.
I enjoyed the books but there were numerous spelling errors and wrong words used. Also all too often I was used when it should have been me. This seems to be a common error for many authors. Get an editor and proof reader.
Found this after reading a couple of heavy hitters. I wanted something a bit lighter with humour and a kick ass heroine. This fit the brief and got better and better as it went a long. An array of great supporting cast members in an interesting world.
Loved these books, different, and kept me enthralled all the way through. Recommend you read all of them straight after one another. Enjoy and don't stay up too late.
Great series of books. Very easy to read. Kept me entertained and enjoyed the relationship between the characters. I really love reading Annabel Chase books.
I love this series mainly because of the characters , I love their personalities and watching their growth, great storyline and I wish it could continue .
Good but less good than I expected from this author (I’ve read many of her books). It was like she had not established her world building before starting. Clear issues and holes.
But there is a definite Stephanie Plum with magic vibe if you like that.
