A brief detour to a ranch in the middle of nowhere doesn’t lead to forever, does it?

Olivia Martinez, forced to leave her high-power Manhattan job with no prospects, is at a crossroad. Not only is she a city girl down to the tips of her Jimmy Choos, she wants to stay close to her parents, who depend on her more than they’d like to. Generally not a risk taker, Olivia steps out of her comfort zone when her best friend, Elizabeth Sutton, asks her to temporarily lend a hand at the Red Sky Ranch. After all, what can a few months change, and New York City is just a plane ride—or three—away, right?

Haunted by an hour that changed her life, Riley Mitchell escapes the memories and the guilt by riding motorcycles way too fast, skydiving, and running into burning buildings. She is good-looking, charming, and never wants for female company, as long as no commitment is expected. When Olivia returns to the Red Sky Ranch, Riley’s carefully crafted safe world goes up in flames.

Can they take a risk and cross the fire line to find love?

We met Olivia and Riley in the first book of the Red Sky Ranch series (Fire in the Sky). Now it's time for their own story.

When Olivia returns to Red Sky Ranch in Arizona to work for her best friend Elizabeth and her wife Kelsey again, she thinks it will only be a temporary job. After all, it came at just the right time, shortly after she had to quit her previous job.

Riley is a firefighter with all her heart. But an incident has scarred her inside and out and changed her life. Now she's chasing adrenaline and is not really caring about her own life but about everyone else. Maybe the right woman could banish her fears and nightmares.

And sometimes opposites attract, so when they meet again, the embers between them are rekindled. Should they extinguish the embers or fan them into a fire of love? But what happens when Olivia returns to Manhattan?

Olivia and Riley are hesitant to enter into a relationship for different reasons. They both feel it could be more than just a fling, so their fear of being hurt is all the greater. Riley also struggles with guilt and doesn't believe she deserves to be happy. In addition to the light love story, there are also a few difficult issues addressed, which adds depth to the story.

Overall, it is a lighthearted love story in a beautiful rural Arizona setting.

Thanks to Bold Strokes Books and NetGalley for receiving an ARC for an honest review.

This is book two in the series that began with Fire in the Sky. It's set at Red Sky Ranch and follows the women who originally lived in the town of Wickemburg, Arizona. In this book, we focus on Riley, a firefighter who also does building inspections, and Olivia, the project manager who works for Elizabeth, the star of the previous novel who now lives on the renovated ranch.

Olivia's a city girl. She's out of her element on the ranch and has no plans to settle down there. But when Elizabeth calls about a new expansion project, and with things being so tense at work, she decides to head back there for a bit. She's only going back temporarily, though—it's not really her scene.

But she doesn't expect Riley to rekindle the spark they had during their first stay, and this time it won't just be a spark. Although, Riley also has reservations about getting involved with Olivia.

Rural setting, a bit of drama, and a pretty classic romance.

This is the second book in the Red Sky Ranch series. This has Riley a firefighter who has survived a devastating wildfire several years ago. She has nightmares and anxiety and survivors guilt over it. Olivia Martinez is a NYC business woman whose best friend Elizabeth owns the Red Sky Ranch. Elizabeth asks her to come to the ranch and help her with a new project.

I didn’t feel either character was developed enough. I didn’t get to know Olivia’s character enough to my liking. I did appreciate how close she was to her parents. And the ending was totally predictable from the start of the book.

I liked book one in the series much better. This one had too many holes in it with Olivia’s sexuality, I was confused over it. Riley’s character was better but still needed more embellishment.

I’ve liked many of Radcliffe’s books in the past so this was a disappointment for me.

This book is part of the series. I quickly realized this, but not reading the first book didn’t prevent me from enjoying this one. I just had a feeling I was missing something. So if you have the opportunity to read them in order, it would probably be best.
I liked the chemistry between Olivia and Riley, but like I said, I felt like I missed a part of their story. In most books, I know why characters fall in love, why they attract each other or complete each other. Here, it’s not really explained, except that they feel at peace with each other. Weirdly, their chemistry was good, so I bought it.
I wished the fact that Olivia didn’t feel like New York was home anymore was a bit more progressive, because there weren’t really any steps. One day, NYC is home, and the next, Riley is.I also like how Riley's trauma is addressed and how she continues to work on it. Nevertheless, I felt that there was not enough focus on her tendency to get into danger unnecessarily (I am not referring to her job here). It is mentioned but not truly resolved by the end of the book.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. Can I expect a book featuring the captivating Hadley next?

Wild Fire is an enjoyable sapphic romance that combines a cozy ranch setting with deeper themes of trauma, identity, and self-discovery. The book follows Olivia, a polished NYC businesswoman returning to Red Sky Ranch to help her best friend with a new project, and Riley, a firefighter grappling with complex PTSD from surviving a devastating wildfire. Their connection is undeniable, and Riley’s charm and vulnerabilty definitely adds a layer of intrigue to their dynamic.

The novel handles heavier themes like PTSD and late-life realisations about sexuality thoughtfully. However, the character development felt a bit underwhelming at times. While Riley's struggles were more fleshed out, Olivia’s character, particularly her journey with her own identity, could have used more depth. The romance itself is sweet but predictable, and the ending felt rushed, wrapping things up a bit too neatly in the final stretch.

Though not as strong as the first book in the Red Sky Ranch series, Wild Fire is still a solid, feel-good read. It balances light, heartwarming moments with emotional depth, offering an easy escape with a guaranteed happy ending. Fans of Radclyffe and Julie Cannon’s storytelling will definitely enjoy this second book in the series.

I received an ARC copy of this book from the Publisher via Netgalley and voluntarily leaving my review.

Olivia is at a crossroads when her best friend Elizabeth calls her ask for her help in a big project she doesn’t want to leave her parents because they depend on her. Riley is running from her past she a firefighter who have deep wounds but have a big heart she doesn’t want to get close to anyone but when Olivia come to town her heart have other ideas. The chemistry was good I like seeing Elizabeth and Kelsey again can’t wait for the next book but I do hope Radclyffe write another mystery thrillers series because I love her Justice series I reread it a lot.

Structured and stable meets daring and dangerous. Will attraction flare into something more or will it sizzle out?

I received an advance copy from Netgalley for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Olivia Martinez finds herself at a crossroads. Having quit her job, she is aimless for the first time in twenty years. Olivia has worked almost all those years with her best friend Elizabeth on projects around the world. Elizabeth left her job a bit earlier to strike out on her own in the middle of the Arizona desert where she now lives with her wife Kelsey. Olivia did work a bit on the ranch Elizabeth is building now, but she can’t see herself moving there permanently, even though Elizabeth begs her to do just that. All Olivia can say is, she’ll go out to the ranch for a few months to work on a new project. Life in the desert is not in the least bit appealing to Olivia. As a city girl, her ideas of an exciting life have nothing to do with heat, sand and slithering creepers. What might be exciting though is seeing Riley again. Riley, the extremely attractive fire fighter that has inspired some unexpected feelings in Olivia…

Riley Mitchell is always seeking thrills. Her job as a fire fighter and smoke jumper provide her with plenty. And even in her free time she likes to jump out of planes or race her motorcycle through the desert. Riley likes the death defying thrills but underneath her armor she struggles with anxiety and trauma. Out fighting a wild fire a few years back, she lost her crew, her friends. As the sole survivor Riley has been living with immense guilt. She keeps her life simple: work, helping out in the community and some meaningless hookups for physical release. When the gorgeous Olivia returns to Arizona, Riley wants to explore what it is between them. A fling is all she wants though, because Olivia will leave again. It’s a perfect situation, isn’t it?

I was invested in this story from page one. The obvious differences between Olivia and Riley are perfect and kept me invested in the story. While Olivia is very open about her hesitations about her stay in Arizona and what she can give Riley, Riley keeps her cards closer to her chest. Not about her interest in Olivia, but about her past and the invisible scars that she carries with her. As the story progresses you can feel Riley’s walls crumble with every page you turn. The connection between these two women is so strong, I would have been very mad if the ending was different. Lucky for me, this is a classic Sapphic Romance in that way.

The relationship between Olivia and Elizabeth is a great example of strong female friendships. Not only are they a dream team while working, they also read each other like a book and support each other however they can. When Olivia sees the way Elizabeth has flourished since being in a relationship with Kelsey, she is so happy for her friend. At the same time a kernel of hope is planted inside her own heart. Maybe Olivia can have it all too. She does her very best to ignore that kernel and tries to maintain a certain boundary with Riley, but as a reader you quickly realize the fighting is futile. It takes Olivia a bit longer though!

Wild Fire has some very good representation of mental issues like anxiety and PTSD. Riley’s struggles with her past are described so hauntingly, you can feel it in your bones. The same can be said of Olivia’s fear of telling her very religious parents about her feelings towards women. I am so glad that in this case, the fear is mostly unwarranted.

Wild Fire is one of those stories that are hard to put down. I suggest you put your phone on silent for a few hours to travel to a tiny desert town in Arizona. I’m sure you will not regret meeting Olivia and Riley!

Wild Fire, book two in the Red Sky Ranch Romance series is here, and Radclyffe and Julie Cannon have once again written a character driven story that will have you glued to the pages until the very end.

Riley suffered a horrendous loss in her role as a firefighter and lives each day on the edge or trying to make amends. She is restless and reckless, but with Olivia’s return to the ranch, she finds a hope she never expected.

Olivia stayed on at Sutton Properties after Elizebeth left, hoping not much would change. Life did not carry on as usual, though, and when she leaves the firm and agrees to oversee a project at Red Sky Farms, she isn’t sure she has made the right decision.

The mutual crush between Riley and Olivia continues to grow as they flirt and begin to really get to know one another. The skirt around the idea of a fling – Olivia isn’t staying - and Riley isn’t looking for commitment, so it seems like the perfect idea.

As with all great romances, there is angst, trauma, and lack of communication. Something Radclyffe and Cannon do well together is keep the keel even, only adding what is necessary to keep the story moving forward. Riley captured my heart with her need for connection, yet her fear of being able to give back. All she does it try, and if only she could see herself through the eyes of the ones who love her.  Thankfully, Olivia is there to guide her, and in return, find a woman she can't imagine hiding away.

Kelsey and Elizebeth make appearances, which is a fantastic way to catch us up on how they are doing. Wild Fire is a brilliant follow-up to Fire in the Sky. I’ve made my guess about who will be the star of book three, but only time will tell. I’m loving this new series and recommend jumping on board now.

In 'Wild Fire', we meet Olivia, who has just been pushed out of her toxic Manhattan job following months of harassment.

When her best friend Elizabeth calls to commiserate, she also offers Olivia a job working for her at the Red Sky Ranch in Arizona. Elizabeth has many plans for the ranch and surrounding land she and her wife Kelsey own, far too many for her to work on alone.

Although unsure about leaving behind her ageing parents and her city lifestyle, Olivia agrees. Of course, the smoking hot firefighter, Riley, who is best friends with Elizabeth's wife, may also have swayed her decision!

Riley is scarred both inside and out following a tragic incident that occurred whilst her crew were fighting wild fires.

No matter how broken Riley thinks she is, she can't deny the incendiary attraction and lust she has for Olivia.

Will Olivia be brave and step outside her comfort zone to welcome the feelings growing between them? Will she stop telling herself it's just a fling with Riley? Will Olivia face her fears and commit to staying in Arizona?

Will Riley learn to forgive herself and acknowledge that she's deserving of Olivia's love?

This is a great book with fully rounded characters, stunning scenery, firefighting at its hottest, and a good portion of spice.

This is Radclyffe and Julie Cannon doing what they do best.

Please note that whilst this is the second book in the series, it can be read as a standalone.

There’s a lot to like about Wild Fire. The characters are all very likeable, the setting feels like somewhere you’d like to fall in love, it’s a sapphic romance and honestly is there anything better? All whilst Riley is serving golden retriever energy whilst also staying a little in the danger zone to make her a little more intriguing. This is a fun, easy going sapphic romance and you’ll find yourself easily getting chapters under your belt without even meaning to get through it quickly.

Those are the light bits. The book also delves into thoughts and feelings around suffering complex PTSD, and does so in a way that I found thoughtful and relatable, there’s also the coming out in later life trope and realising your sexuality for the right person. Again something I personally dealt with so could connect with the character quite well on some of this thought process.

3 stars feels harsh I would have given this 3.5 stars but review sites are yet to allow us half stars. For me I would have liked to have seen a little more character development, and the ending felt really rushed to wrap everything up in the final few % of this book. Nonetheless this doesn’t detract from it being a lovely little read.

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Book 2 in the Red Sky Ranch duology after Fire in the Sky (12/2023)

Book 2 opens with Olivia Martinez quitting a job after her handsy boss goes one step too far. She’d worked for the company for years after being recruited by her best friend, Elizabeth, to join her at the company. With no prospects, she doesn’t have a clue what she wants to do with her life. When Elizabeth once again offers her a job at her resort Red Sky Ranch, Olivia reluctantly agrees to move from Manhattan to the Arizona resort despite having seemingly hundreds of reasons why what she’s doing is crazy - she is, after all, a city dweller who hates the desert because there is no color or culture to speak of. What the desert does have, though, is Riley Mitchell, a firefighter who happily runs toward danger and away from relationships.

From page one, the authors develop their characters so expertly that you’ll wish these people could be your best friends.

The authors have created a slow-build romance between two very different women. Riley is a risk taker while Olivia doesn’t do well with changes in her personal life. Both know that they shouldn’t get involved because Olivia will return to Manhattan, in order to live close to her aging parents, when her project is complete in a few months.

This is a seamlessly written book where there is no figuring out where one author’s contribution ends and the other author’s contribution begins. There are no saggy parts because the authors keep the angst from slowing down the flow of the story. This is one of those rare books where you call in sick so you can read the last half of the book.

If you love one or both of these authors, you're going to love this book. If you are new to Sapphic romance novels, this is a great book to start a life-long addiction to LesFic.

My thanks to Bold Strokes Books for an eArc.

This is my first red sky romance novel and I absolutely loved it. I’ve never read a sapphic romance and would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a beautiful love story!

Olivia and Riley couldn’t be more on the opposite ends of the spectrum with regards to emotional availability, timing and location.

Olivia has not yet shared with her family her orientation, and internalizes alot of her guilt with her parents and her need to constantly people please.

Enter Riley, who is a selfless firefighter who puts the needs of others above herself and is suffering the effects of a tragic fire that claimed the lives of her friends. Anxiety and PTSD are at the forefront of her struggle.

When Olivia and Riley reunite, their attraction and pull to each other is immediately rekindled and it took a life of its own. Their own hesitations took a back seat and I loved reading their love story unfold as they navigated their own internalized struggles.

They, in a sense, healed each other. It was beautiful to read and the authors do an excellent job at showcasing the humanity of love and the complex emotions that surround one’s journey of self discovery.

I will absolute be reading more books in this series and am hoping to see more of Riley and Olivia.

Thank you to Bold Strokes Books, Radclyffe & Julie Cannon for allowing me the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Check out Wild Fire, releasing on October 15!

Red Sky Romance - Book two
The embers that burned slowly and steadily between Riley and Olivia never died out.
But time and distance came between them and the disbelief that something permanent and real could develop.
After all, they were best friends with Kelsey and Elisabeth.
Friendship is not something you risk for something quick and fleeting... and there can and must not be more.
At least not for Olivia, who is still somehow in the closet to this day.
At least as far as her family is concerned. They were raised Catholic and believers.
Olivia is sure that her parents cannot and would not understand.
But Riley and their time together - especially those beautiful dances - are always somehow on her mind. Riley is tormented by the past and because of this she prefers a quick and particularly short affair.
Olivia, however, could be so much more, but she is in Manhattan, she is Elisabeth's best friend and Kelsey would never forgive her if that were ruined because of Riley.
But what if Olivia wasn't in Manhattan... what if she was given a chance?
Could she open up?
Could she share her past pain, which is also visible on her skin? Could she show herself vulnerable?
I was very happy that these two got their chance and their own story. I loved the first book and the second was just as wonderful and extremely hot as the first. A must for anyone who likes Radclyffe and Julie Cannon romances and the combination of these two authors is simply brilliant!

After reading ‘Fire in the Sky’ (Dec 2023), I really wanted to continue with the setting and characters. This is the second book in the Red Sky Ranch series co-written by authors I’ve enjoyed separately. Olivia Martinez was introduced in the first book as the assistant to Elizabeth who took on turning the ranch into a sought after resort. It is now two years later and Olivia returns to work with Elizabeth again in expanding the operations of the resort. She could have stayed originally but wanted to return to Manhattan to be close to her parents.

She already knows Riley Mitchell who is a firefighter in town. Riley is best friends with Elizabeth’s wife Kelsey and is frequently at the ranch. Olivia and Riley both try and resist their sizzling attraction. Riley has never been in a relationship. Attachments are hard with her work. Olivia has never been out, even to her best friend, for fear of disappointing parents. They both have things to overcome to be together.

I enjoyed their story. I like how Olivia speaks up for what she wants from Riley, often making the first move. I don’t know how the authors split up the writing but Radclyffe has always excelled at writing about first responders. And because I like the couple from the first book I enjoyed them popping up in this one, although you could read this as a stand alone. And I’m excited about the future couple for the next book. Assuming the two new characters in this one are the focus. Can’t recommend this book enough. And treat yourself and read the first book in the series if you haven’t already. Thank you to NetGalley and Bold Strokes Books for the ARC and I am leaving an honest review.

Wild Fire is book 2 in the Red Sky Romance series by Radclyffe and Julie Cannon. I haven’t read the first book in the series, and it didn’t matter at all. I’d like to track it down and read it, but it isn’t crucial to understanding the plot or characters of this book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I chose it because I knew I’d be in safe hands, with the authors having written dozens of books each, and I was. It kept me entertained from the first page, and I blew through it in two days.

The introduction of the characters is fun. The main character, Olivia, is smart, gutsy and a New Yorker, and the connection she has with her boss Elizabeth is a delight. Instantly I felt the long-term connection between these friends, and the banter was laugh out loud funny from the first chapter.

Olivia’s potential romantic partner, Riley, is a firefighter with a penchant for danger, and a fierce desire to protect and nurture others. Riley is more complex as a character, and some of this is visible without the darker elements ever threatening to overwhelm the lighter tone of the book. Cleverly done, to bring that into the mix without changing the tone, but it provides a bit of gravitas that underpins the romance.

The location is great, with enough description to let us know where they are, but really this is about the characters and how they go from sort-of-friends to lovers to ever after. It is a joy to read, and kept me chuckling all the way through. I highly recommend this book.

Hot fires and an even hotter f/f romance
I was so in the mood for a good romance, great chemistry and real-life characters when I picked up Wild Fire. And ladies, do those two accomplished authors deliver - with all the bells and whistles you‘d wish for in a great romance.
The setting is fun: Olivia is a femme and city girl from Manhattan helping her BFF Elizabeth with a big project on her ranch set in the Arizona desert. Riley is a butch firefighter with scars inside and out and a very big heart. Both are gun shy for … reasons! radclyffe and Cannon spin a wonderful story with a lot of chemistry, soul-searching, the head interfering with the heart, and again chemistry. Chemistry! I truly enjoyed how Olivia and Riley gravitated to each other and I loved the character driven love story. The writing is smooth, compelling, not a dull moment. There is a sprinkle of serious topics which adds stamina to the romance - firefighting is a dangerous job.
The highlight: One of the best almost-kisses I have read for a long time, an excellent first kiss and the scorching heat is not only there when Riley has to fight fires.

This is a spin-off of Fire in the Sky (A Red Sky Ranch Romance). You can read Wild Fire as a stand-alone or start with Fire in the Sky, a great enemies-to-lovers romance.

Thanks to netgalley for the ARC. The review is left voluntarily.

Olivia and Riley, having met in Book 1 , are reacquainted when Olivia returns to work with Elizabeth at Red Sky Ranch. They soon find that the initial attraction they had for each other is still there, but neither of them knows what to do about it.

Riley is a battle-worn fire fighter who has seen her share of trauma and wears it close to her heart. She is dedicated to her job, and accepts the risks it involves without question. For these reasons she is hesitant to allow anyone into her heart.

Olivia, sees her return to Arizona as temporary, and tries unsuccessfully to deny the attraction she feels towards Riley. However she soon realises she has to come to terms with the fact that she is falling for another woman, and one whose life is constantly put in danger. Add family drama, Riley's traumatic past and current demons, and Olivia's resistance to making the move to Arizona permanent, and you have a good recipe for an angsty, yet passionate romance.

Once the fledgling relationship starts as a fling, the title Wild Fire aptly describes the dynamics between the two. There is much heat and passion but can they resolve their issues together and turn the relationship into something more permanent?

This is the second book by Cannon/Radclyffe where they revisit the Red Sky Ranch. We first were introduced to these characters, the one where Elizabeth falls in love with Kelsey and stays on the ranch. A lot has changed in the last two years. The ranch continues to grow with all kinds of improvements. Now she needs someone to manage it.
Enter Olivia Martinez, Elizabeth's best friend from NY. Olivia had been to the ranch before but she couldn’t stay, she was a city girl who couldn’t imagine living in the country. Little did she know Olivia had just quit her job. But when Elizabeth needs her to get the next stage of development done, and she could, maybe see if firefighter Riley Mitchell is still available.
Riley has had a rough beginning but has found a nice balance with using time spent on the ranch to help with the new construction going on. And boy, oh boy she did remember Olivia. The question is, how long Olivia’s staying this time and should Riley fall for her again.
Two great authors who both know how to tell a story. Likable characters, interesting plot make this a very, very enjoyable read.

We met Olivia and Riley in the first book of the Red Sky Ranch series (Fire in the Sky). Which is one I highly recommend reading before this one.

This is the second book in the Red Sky Ranch series. Riley is scarred both inside and out following a tragic incident that occurred whilst her crew were fighting wild fires. She has nightmares and anxiety and survivors guilt over it. Olivia Martinez is a NYC business woman whose best friend Elizabeth owns the Red Sky Ranch. Elizabeth asks her to come to the ranch and help her with a new project.

Overall, it is a lighthearted love story set in the amazing rural landscape of Arizona

I liked book one in the series much better, but this one was much better. I would recommend this book though. I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Radclyffe knows how to tell a story and in this series she teams up with Julie Cannon to write about the Red Sky Ranch. It’s an enjoyable read with two endearing characters with emotional baggage but I think the first book had more jeopardy and angst.

Olivia loses her job in NYC with Elizabeth’s family company because she supported Elizabeth in book one. At a loose end, she agrees to come back to the ranch to help Elizabeth and Kelsey with their next project. It also means spending time with firefighter Riley who she met at the ranch before. Riley is Kelsey’s best friend.

There are side people and sub plots but the overall story is a predictable romance leading to a happy ever after but that’s no bad thing in the rites at the moment. And I’ll still read whatever Radclyffe writes… we all need a bit of easy reading with a happy ending now and again.

Just finished "Wild Fire" the second book in the Red Sky Ranch romance series by Radclyffe and Julie Cannon. I was completely blown away! This beautifully crafted tale of self-discovery and unexpected love between Olivia and Riley is a breathtaking journey from the concrete jungle of Manhattan to the wild heart of the Red Sky Ranch in Arizona.

I found Olivia’s struggle to balance family obligations with her newfound courage to embrace life so relatable. Riley’s thrilling escapades as a wildland & structure firefighter added a pulse-pounding edge that I both identified with and kept me on the edge of my seat! The chemistry between these two is electric, erotically spicy, and their journey from fear to love is nothing short of inspiring.

If you're looking for a story that ignites the heart and challenges the soul, look no further! Highly recommend! Thank you NetGalley and Bold Strokes Books for the ARC.

Wildfire, the second book in the Red Sky Ranch series, is a captivating continuation of the story, focusing on Olivia and her dynamic with Riley. The premise of opposites attracting, especially between two strong women, adds an intriguing layer to their relationship.

Olivia's internal struggle with her identity and her family's expectations creates a compelling conflict that many readers can relate to. The tension between her feelings for Riley and the pressure to conform to traditional expectations certainly sets the stage for an engaging narrative.

The chemistry between Olivia and Riley is palpable and the story delivers the heat fans of Radclyffe and Cannon have come to expect. Overall, Wildfire successfully blends romance, personal growth, and the complexities of love, making it a worthwhile read for fans of the genre.

A somewhat classic city-meets-country romance, Wild Fire takes us to Red Sky Ranch, where we meet Olivia (the quintessential New Yorker) and Riley (a country firefighter). Both of them have their own emotional baggage that impacts their relationship, not the least of which is grappling with living thousands of miles apart when Olivia is not at the ranch with her friends. The story is full of emotion, connection, family (and found family) with a dose of your classic country elements as well.

While this is the second book in the series, I read this novel without having read the first in the series and was able to follow and connect with the characters just fine.

I received an ARC of this ebook from NetGalley.

Two great storytellers combine to write the latest in the Red Sky Romance series and they don't disappoint. We met Olivia and Riley in the first book but this book works well even if you haven't read that one. Time has passed and Olivia has returned to the ranch for work and also to have time to figure out her sexuality, meanwhile Riley is working at the ranch on her own project and trying to process her PTSD. I liked that this is a slow burn romance, low angst and with great supporting friendships. I love the way that Radclyffe takes traditional American rural settings and creates a lesbian community within them. An enthralling story told really well.

With thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I have not read the first book in the Red Sky Romance series, but I think not a major issue since this book is focusing on another couple.

Always enjoyable to read a book with a hot and troubled firefighter as one of the main characters. Interesting to see how Riley finally is ready to find love with Olivia and stop feeling guilt all the time. Olivia also needs to grow as a person since until now she has been all about work, big city life and hide the fact she is into women from her parents.

I think the book would have benefitted if digging a bit deeper into their feelings and shown more of their chemistry but overall, a good read.

Book 2 of the series takes us back to The Red Sky Ranch. City girl Olivia return to shake Riley’s life. Both women grapple with their own fears and baggage. Olivia, torn between her family obligations and newfound feelings, and Riley, battling the guilt of her past, are forced to confront what they truly want from life. As their connection deepens, the stakes get higher, and the emotional tension is palpable. I enjoyed this book, a perfect blend of heart, heat, and healing!

Fiery

As usual with these authors, you get a a well written story along with characters who have depth. We were teased with the beginning of a romance between Olivia and Riley during Elizabeth and Kelsey's story. I enjoyed how the authors inter weaved the two stories without bogging down the storyline. Olivia and Riley have remarkable chemistry but both are dealing with fears that keep them from committing to what they want. This story left me looking forward to what will happen next at the Red Sky Ranch.
