These books were such a disappointment. There’s no real plot. It’s like, “Oh, I hope they won’t reject me bc of my differences. Thankfully, I am still hot and I can have normal sex. So let’s have A LOT OF SEX INDEED. And then just do everything as cinnamon roll wish fulfillment, bc I bet readers will LOVE that!”

I didn’t even get the “cake” thing. Maybe I was just reading too quickly? Didn’t care?

Sigh.

It actually started off really cute and fluffy and I was like okay, we’re off to a good start but then the couple got together so fast. Like … we blinked and they were already settled with no issues, no buildup, no tension. I think there could’ve easily been more development to actually make me feel their bond instead of just being told it’s there.

They were sweet and their communication was decent, but honestly? It felt kind of flat. I didn’t really buy into their connection and a lot of their convos felt stiff or artificial, like the author was trying too hard to make it sound meaningful without giving it real weight. Also, I didn’t like the writing style much, a lot of the dialogue felt weirdly stiff or disconnected, like AI-generated fanfic energy. I really hate saying that, but it’s the vibe I got.

Cute overall, but I needed something more to hook me emotionally. Just didn’t hit for me at all.

After reading the first book I still decided to give this book a chance, but I was disappointed. There was zero plot and it just sounded so self deprecating that it was hard to read.

Tanja does it again with the most lovable characters 😍 Hope was an absolute delight and Decan was adorable.

I loved how Hope was so steadfast and proud to be with Decan especially with all the people questioning her motives just because he is a wheelchair user. I also loved that they communicated to honestly and openly with each other from day one.

Still not a huge fan of the random picture part way through but appreciate it might be to some people’s tastes.

I absolutely devoured this book - they are such easy quick reads with all the fluff and no drama. Roll on the next one!

I definitely enjoy this book. Also, the cutest covers have the most spice, and this one has plenty....I like how they show their relationships blossom and how she didn't care at all that he was on a wheel chair. Also like how the author showed that even if a person has a certain disability doesn't mean they can't take care of themselves they just need time and some tools to get there, also the fact of unwanted help is a big thing. Great romance, cute, spicy read.

I picked this up immediately after reading Lemon Cake. It had the same vibe, starts with a meet cute and two people getting to know each other, then it hits you with the spiciest chapters, not that I’m complaining :D

I loved how the FMC sort of took of charge of things here and really liked her character.

Will definitely be reading the next one in the series!

Yes! I am definitely reading this entire series if I can get my hands on the rest of the books!!!

🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ /5 - There's an extra pepper because there's more than one pegg!n scene in this one and it's a novella!?!? I think I might be in love.

2.75⭐️ This started out cute and fluffy, but the couple got together very quickly. I think even at 161 pages is enough time to let them build up to a relationship not have a relationship with virtually no issues right from the beginning. They were a sweet couple with good communication but overall I think this was a bit of a boring story that did not have many things to make me believe they were a good couple with a strong connection. At times it felt as if AI was making some of the conversations between the two. I did enjoy the sweetness, but I needed something else to grab and hook me into the story.

Do not let the title fool you, this is a downright spicy book.

Strawberry Cake was amazing! From the Bookish meet cute to all the bookish references any reader would be smiling to themselves. (Decan is a book lover & freelance editor, while Hope is simply a book lover) They have a thrift book hunting trip as their first date! So perfect & cute of an idea for any reader. wink wink, tell your significant other that you would die for this

Hope & Decan are such a cute couple and help each other grow past their insecurities. It was done in a perfect yet fast-paced way.
I truly enjoyed this novel & can hardly wait to pick up the rest of Tanja's Naughty Desserts series.

Thanks to BookSiren and Tanja Longoria for this ARC to read and give my honest review

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Strawberry Cake by Tanja Longoria was such a delightful little read! It felt like a warm, comforting story of two friends finally taking the plunge into something more. What really stood out to me was how realistic and relatable the characters were – their fears and goals felt so genuine, and I couldn’t help but cheer them on.

This book was the perfect palate cleanser between the darker, heavier reads I usually gravitate towards. It’s definitely spice-heavy, so if that’s not your thing, you might want to steer clear. But for me, the spice added to the character development and made their connection feel even deeper (plus, the exploration of new kinks was a refreshing touch).

Hope was a fantastic protagonist – her insecurities and body positivity made her so easy to love. And Declan? Dark, brooding, but with a soft side that melted me. Together, they were perfection.

Highly recommend if you’re looking for a light, spicy romance that still packs a relatable punch!

Strawberry Cake started out well, and I appreciated the storyline featuring an able-bodied person falling in love with a disabled person—it’s a dynamic that isn’t explored enough in literature. There were some explicit themes and imagery that I wasn’t fully comfortable with. While the book includes a general content warning for graphic scenes, I found the imagery unexpected and would have appreciated a more specific heads-up about that certain element.

While the premise had promise, I felt the storyline could have benefited from more thorough development to fully bring out its potential. Overall, the book had a strong start, but with some adjustments, it could have delivered a more cohesive and impactful reading experience.

Review: First, I would just like to say that I hope my rating does not put people off from reading this book. I really did like it and read it all in one sitting. This was a quick and fast read and the story wasted no time in jumping right into things.

This was the sweetest meet cute ever. I loved that this had a disabled MMC rep as well as a plus sized FMC rep. Decan really showed how strong and capable he was and wouldn't let him being in a wheelchair deter him from falling in love. Their communication was top tier for me and loved that they talked though everything. Consent is king in this book. The spice was delicious especially if you like to see a woman step up and take charge. All in all, this was a great read.

Thank you so much for allowing me to ARC for this book.

Thank you to the author for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Decan had been in an accident that left him in a wheelchair. Hope is a curvy woman that loves books. I loved this story and watching Hope and Decan grow together and learn to let go of the insecurities they both had. This was an excellent sequel in an amazing series. This one might even be my favorite. Don’t let the cutesy covers and titles fool you, like the first one Lemon Cake, Strawberry Cake is also spicy. Between the witty banter, the very real insecurities, and the spice, this book has delivered in the most perfect way.

I really liked this. Very simple story without much plot, but the characters were very likeable and the story was sweet and oddly realistic (at one point, they go through a list of questions together and talk about their feelings on debt and joint accounts, lmao)

Strawberry Cake de Tanja Longoria

Argumento:

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This was my first book I read by Tanja Longoria, and it will not be my last! This book is part of the Naughty Desserts series that each showcase a different couple. In this book, the featured characters are Decan and Hope. Decan was injured in an accident that left him wheelchair bound. He is insecure about dating, as he worries women won't look past the wheelchair. He edits books for a living, and is a book lover. Hope is also a book lover, and also has insecurities about her body. The couple meet at a coffeeshop, where Hope falls for Decan from the start. She finds him handsome, and also likes that he has a book she loves that is custom bound. Dean is taken aback that Hope sought him out, but he overcomes his doubt and they go out on a first date (to bookstores! <3), and their relationship grows from there.

This book, although it dealt with some hard topics such as insecurities over body image and disability, was overall a feel good story, with no drama between between the MMC and FMC. From the start both Decan and Hope are green flags! Hope doesn't look down on Decan due to his disability, treats him like she would anyone else, and shows him and tells him how much she appreciates him, and how much she cares about him. Decan is such a sweetheart! He is respectful, kind, funny, and has great communication with Hope. This was a very wholesome and healthy relationship where both the FMC and the MMC brought out the best in each other, and helped the other overcome insecurities and grow stronger together.

Despite their wholesome relationship, there WAS definitely spice in the book, which I personally love to read! The author did a great job of incorporating the spice with the plot, and it was great to see them both grow as a couple through their intimacy. Their intimacy also helped them overcome insecurities about their bodies as well. I also enjoyed the secondary characters. Both of their best friends each had their respective best friends best interests at heart. While both his best friend and her best friend sometimes meddled a bit, it came from a place of love for their friend, and both Hope and Dean respectively was able to gain the trust of their friends, and eventually their families as well.

I throughly enjoyed this book, and although it was spicy (I would rate perhaps 2.5/3-5 peppers), it was definitely a feel good story and overall a feel good read as you follow Hope and Decan's love story. I highly recommend this book to all fans of feel good and spicy romance lovers!

Look, it wasn't the worst book out there, but I just wasn't impressed.

I absolutely love a good fast burn romance, but as a contemporary genre this relationship just progressed way too quickly (especially in a sexual nature) for it to actually have any feel good feelings to it. Literally within 2 weeks of them knowing each other Hope brings up doing anal play, and then Decan never having done any before then buys plugs and a vibe for her to use on him... that's insanely quick to be pulling out the sexcapades after having met at a coffee shop not some sort of sex app. That whole scenario was very uncomfortable to read for me mainly because of how short of a time span they had actually known each other was. It got equally better and worse after that, when the steam was a bit more relaxed but that she was invited to not only meet his family but go on a vacation out of country with them at 2 weeks of knowing each other, then actually going on the vacation a few weeks later (just over a month of knowing each other). On said vacation I'm not sure how they were able to get an entire arsenal of sex toys through airport customs, but somehow they managed it.

Regarding the steam, I wasn't really a fan. I felt like every steamy scene was very Decan oriented to the point when Hope would always get him to finish but then when it was about her it's either that she doesn't finish at all or she helped it along herself (like she's riding him and after he comes she gets herself off). There was only 1 time where he went down on her, and she did finish, then two times she helped it along with a vibe while he was inside her, then she helps herself along, then it's strickly gets off with a toy, and every other time was not at all. Yet every one of those instances, Hope, was the one that got Decan off. It all just didn't seem like an equal balance, and that annoyed me.

This book really didn't have much substance to it plot-wise, like it was just so fact paced that you couldn't really see the connection between the characters nor a well developed storyline. While I thought the banter between characters was fun, they didn't really get to know each other and other than Hope and Decan thinking that the other was equally attractive, and Hope being a very random soft dom for Decan, they didn't seem to have that much connection.

Speaking if Hope, I didn't like her. I'm not sure what it was about her specifically that I didn't like, but something about her character gave me icky vibes. That's not to say she wasn't portrayed to be a nice individual, but there's just something about the was she's written that puts me right off. Decan was perfectly fine though.

I received an eARC for my honest opinion.

This was a perfect book for lovers of the following tropes: Consensual fun play, communication, no third act break up, female takes charge, disabilities rep, Curvy FMC, male falls first, spicy scenes and HEA. This is book two of the A Naughty Desserts Novel, and it was so much fun reading it. I loved getting to know Decan and Hope's story.

In this book you will meet Deacon and Hope, they have a really cute meeting scene in a coffee shop with a book. I won’t say more because you really need to read this fast-paced, funny, steamy scene book. I found the plot to be well developed, and I love that Longoria always has HEA in her books. I found this couple to be so cute, you have Decan who hasn’t been with a woman in 4 years since his accident that landed him in a wheelchair. Hope who knows what she wants and isn’t scared to speak her mind. You will also see a different side to these characters as well, and it’s this side that really made them feel real to me. I loved that you got to see a couple who understand that communication is the key to making a relationship work, inside the bedroom and outside. I loved seeing these characters open to each other and show their vulnerability, and to be honest with each other and it wasn’t just about steamy scenes but about what they would like in their lives. I loved getting to see these characters respect each other’s space, being understanding and patience to let each of them figure out everything. . However, it was the trust that these characters had for each other that really warmed up my heart and you can see how they built their relationship up on trust. I loved that it was told in multiple POV’s, Ducan and Hopes, so you will get to really understand what each of them are feeling.

I have always loved Longoria’s writing style. She knows how to write books that flow through the pages and leave you feeling happy by the ending. I love how all her characters are relatable and/or easy to connect with. I have enjoyed Longoria’s writing because in all her books she has a wonderful way of bringing up topics like insecurities, disabilities and steamy time in the sheets in a respectful way. However, let me tell you about the most adorable three-legged cat, I want that baby so bad. I can’t wait to read Blueberry Cake! I know it will be amazing as well.

I want to thank Tanja Longoria for the opportunity to review this book.

This is probably a 3.5/5 for me.
It was a quick read at just short of 200 pages, this is the kind of book you can read within a few hours if you are relaxing by the pool on holiday or curled up on the sofa.
The only thing that lost points was that the dialogue felt stilted at times, so I did have to reread sentences a couple of times before it clicked.

I will be honest, I purchased this purely based on the cover; as a disabled individual, I think it is so important to see representation in media.
I appreciated that the author didn't try to "fix" Decans disability. He learned to live with it and adapt his life. Of course, we had moments where you can see that Decan doesn't like his disability- but that is something that a lot of people who become disabled later in life will experience and understand.

Not only did we have disability representation in Decan, but we also had plus sized representation in the form of our FMC Hope.

With the support from one another, both Hope and Decan learned to appreciate who they are as individuals. From the very beginning, neither one would push the other into something they weren't comfortable with- communication and consent is key.

Just a quick fyi- the physical copy does contain some nsfw artwork that is not included with the digital copy.

Also, while this is completely unrelated to the story, they are something that the author included-
1. The contents page actually has a little chilli indicating which chapters contain spice
2. The bloopers towards the end of the book was such a fun inclusion, I did end up chuckling at some of the typos.

I will be checking out Lemon Cake by this author as that also features a disabled main character.

Review: They met, fell in love, had oodles of sex, went on to their HEA in the Epilogue. The plot was simple. Too simple. No angst, no difficulties or miscommunications, no third act break up. Just two young adults who meet and despite their individual circumstances, end up in the perfect relationship. It was too easy. Also, there’s no character development.

Kudos to the author, however, for including characters outside the norm and giving them a good relationship. Perhaps the lack of obstacles and their easy love story is the point. And the spice was well written and titillating. It is what it is and what it is is spicy.

Did I ever mention how sexy consent is? Strawberry Cake, book two in the Naughty Desserts Series by Longoria is rife with those vibes! Plus, who doesn't like a book centered Meet Cute?

When Hope comes up to Decan at the coffee shop, curious about his beautifully bound book he can't help but shoot his shot, gifting her his number in addition to the volume (the handiwork of his sister). But, when she calls, Decan can't help but be thrilled.

Once again, Longoria explores Disability Positivity, Body Positivity, and Mental Health in Strawberry Cake. Hope is all about communication, asking polite questions, while not forgetting Decan is a grown man who will ask for help when he needs it.

The simple ways Hope finds to show affection while on the move, and her even presence provide Decan the space he needs to process his feelings while feeling supported. Their communication, adds such a pleasant depth to their relationship and makes me appreciate them all the more

While I am not personally into 🍑 stuff it the way they talk through the experience had me enjoying their interactions as part of the whole.

Loving this series SO much!

This book was SO CUTE! I finished it in one day.

This book is the 2nd in the Naughty Desserts series, but is a standalone.

Decan and Hope meet in a coffee shop and quickly bond over their mutual love of books. From there, it's all uphill. Decan fights with his insecurities from his car accident 4 years ago that put him in a wheelchair, but Hope makes him feel safe and respected from day 1. Together, they explore new activities and prove to each other that there is nobody else.

Decan and Hope are truly amazing for each other. Hope helps Decan understand that someone can be there for him and be in his life, while also proving that his disability is not the only thing he is. Decan helps Hope gain more confidence in herself and understand the power she can have. They help each other grow and shine in so many ways.

Tanja is truly so incredible at writing these books featuring main characters with different abilities, and honoring their truths. She also is great with showing us, the reader, how we can navigate conversations while being respectful.

Thank you Tanja for allowing me to be a part of the ARC team!

This was my first time reading this author but it won't be my last! I really enjoyed the story of Decan and Hope. I love that Hope held her own when others questioned her motives about being interested in Decan. She wasn't concerned that he was a wheel chair user, always made sure to ask Decan before offering any help, and I love that she used sarcastic humor to basically tell people off in a nice way.

Their meet cute over books was adorable and the amount of consent and discussion in this book was chef kiss. The characters felt like adults dealing with an actual relationship. I love that they sat down and discussed future issues like handling finances, kids, and other topics that seem to be glossed over in other stories.

If you're looking for a low angst but spicy book, this is the one for you! Sometimes all I want is a comfy book with low stakes, especially this time of the year when everything is busy and go go go.

Strawberry Cake is a heart-warming story filled with a romance so sweet that will give you a toothache and have you grinning like a maniac by the very last page.

Right from the start, we are introduced to Hope and Decan at a very cute first meeting at a coffee shop when Hope questioned Decan over his handmade bound book (I loved that little part) and there is an instant love for the two of them. I am normally skeptical of instant loves as sometimes they rush into the romance too quickly or sometimes too much for them having just met two days prior, however, I was quite satisfied with how smooth the romance was. While the romance was still pretty fast, I still liked how we, the readers, and the characters got to know each other to see and understand clearly that they are meant to be.

There are several small moments and little dialogue between characters that didn’t seem realistic and of rom-com quality. They had me thinking did that really happen? Regardless, I still enjoyed reading Strawberry Cake.

Hope is a wonderful character whose charming personality warms the heart of both Decan and mine. I loved how quickly Hope adapted when she sees Decan is wheelchair-bound and doesn’t see him as a disabled person in constant need of attention or help, or worse, a burden. I feel that this is such an important key moment in this book and in the real world, and it’s due to that that I loved Strawberry Cake even more. It also made me want to cheer on them even more as they faced several obstacles as their relationship evolved into something more.

Thank you to Tanja Longoria for gifting me an advance readers copy! This review is entirely my own and no monetary exchange was made.
