Kane had me real nervous there for a second. Looking forward to learning the role of some new characters who appear in this installment.
These books are all action and no filler, so some parts can feel a little abrupt. But I’m still invested and eager to see where the plot goes and for some answers! Keeping my eyes peeled for book 4.

Another non-stop jaw-clenching, thrilling installment from D.R. Kane!
This is probably one of the highest compliments I can give being a very seasoned horror fan - there is a description in the last chunk of this book, about what happens to a scientist's arm...I literally dry heaved as I read it because it was so disgusting. Thank you D.R. Kane, I rarely have any visceral reactions to books these days!
I can't wait to finish this series, so excited to start the last book!

The third installment of The Makers of Darkness series…it's just all dark and creepy, and the monsters get more and more terrifying. This book, in particular, is like the novelisation of a dark Renaissance hellscape painting such as Fra Angelico’s Last Judgement, and the chaos of…well, any Hieronymus Bosch piece, but The Harrowing of Hell seems a fitting reference for this story. As I read this story, my mind couldn't help flashing up images of such paintings, also bringing about thoughts of religious undertones - reference to ‘the end of days’, ‘biblical apocalypse’ and the inclusion of what seems to be the voice of an angel.
We follow our previous groups and meet a few newbies, but the focus of this particular book is trying to figure out what caused Hell on Earth and if there's any way to stop it.
There's a lot happening, but I'd describe this as a medium-paced read. It doesn't appear to be the end of the series so this felt like it was building the tension towards the big finale.
This is an incredibly interesting series so far and I look forward to seeing where this goes and if our groups can figure out how to get rid of the demons and right the world again.
