There’s a fine line between love and hate. Seth may have loved Lena, but that was before.
Before she left without saying a word.
Before she took his mother’s ring.
Before he was standing in front of the fog that surrounds the mysterious Atlantis.
No one who goes into the fog ever comes back—but that isn’t going to stop him. Nothing will come between Seth and his retribution.
Lena isn’t running for no reason. Going back through the fog was the only way to keep Seth safe. If he doesn’t forget about her, if he comes through the fog after her, nothing can save either of them.
Oh Leigh, this was so heartbreakingly beautiful! I’m never disappointed when reading one of Leigh’s books! I cannot wait to read more about Atlantis and what happens next!
I struggled with this one. I was really looking forward to it. The marketing for this is what made me learn of Leigh Fields. I've read another of hers recently. However, the writing is kind of dull. It's full of "oh my gosh it's all my fault," in excessively repeating variations. The characters were not strong. I didn't have many feelings toward them. The world building is confusing. I adore Atlantis stories and this one ... It was nothing like I've read and I'm disappointed.
This may be a spoiler but I'm also pretty grossed out about the love interest literally threatening to kill the girl with a gun, to the extreme of pointing it at her chest. This is abuse to me. And I almost didn't even read past those few first pages.

Even before the table of contents it is clear Forgotten Retribution by Leigh Fields is going to be an emotional book; fortunately that’s exactly what I love about Leigh’s writing. Forgotten Retribution is a fantasy novel with dystopian elements set in the Atlantis of Greek lore. Fields is so incredibly creative with both her take on Greek lore, Atlantis, and a totally new and unique magic system. The characters in the novel are the most important and impactful part of the book. The FMC and MMC are incredible characters; I haven’t stopped thinking about them since the book finished. The secondary characters and antagonist are so well developed and their impact on the storyline is jaw droppingly good. I could not set this book down despite the emotional response I personally had to reading it finishing in a day. It was a cathartic experience I didn’t know I needed. I highly recommend Forgotten Retribution.
I couldn't put this one down! Seth follows Lena after she leaves with a note saying that they're over, but there's so much more to it. Lena is half human and comes from Atlantia, a land trapped by cursed fog, cut off from the human world. She meets Seth when she's in his world, but she is bound by duty to return.
Of course, Lena doesn't want to go back to her arranged marriage and backwards society. As she fights for what's right and tries to save those she loves, Seth realizes that she has less of a choice in things than he thought. Will their love be able to make it through this horrible situation?
4.5 🌟 1 🌶️ The lost city of Atlantis, a demigod, a messed up societal system, a girl trying to save her father, and a tragic love story? Yep, this one, like all Leigh's books, had me captivated from the start. The twists and turns were so unexpected, and the ending wrecked me. I will never turn down a book with mythology, and this one was fast-paced and the world building felt very fluid and not forced or too heavy. I loved it!
Oh my heart! 🥺 Leigh has given us a beautiful tale of Atlantis and the people who live within. Part of the of Dusk and Dawn collection, the story of Lena and Seth is one that will stay with you. This beautifully crafted and captivating world will hold your heart till the end and after.
This book 📖 was phenomenal I received this as a ARC for my honest opinion and it did not disappoint I couldn’t put it down hats off to the author Lena meets Seth in the human world and returns to Atlantis only for Seth to follow her he seeks revenge but is that what he really wants and at what end will he go to win back the woman he loves and who he has no doubt loves him with twists and turns and Gods like Kleoita and Poisedon just wow it’s that good but once Lena breaks a rule she is sent to the enforcers where she faces trials as well as prison what lurks below the prison is even scarier she fears a life of a slave (lesser)or to become a forgotten who they harvest the orchilium from with a ending that doesn’t disappoint and beautiful characters and world building this book is a must read…

I’m a sucker for Greek mythology. Even better when you can tie Atlantis, humans, and a possible way to get to it all into one.
Within the pages of this heart-wrenching story, you fall in love with Lena who isn’t quite “enough” of an Atlantean for the others since her mother loved a human. So since she’s tainted in their eyes, she can choose to leave Atlantis and live among humans or stay in Atlantis and try to become an elite member of society by marrying up. She leaves to see a better world, falls in love with Seth ( I wish you could hear the dislike drip off my keystrokes as I type his name) but abruptly leaves and goes back to Atlantis. Seth is the definition of unhinged and reckless and wants nothing except to ruin Lena’s life. The story unfolds around Seth trying to ruin her life and Lena fighting for hers.
By the end of this, I was downright shocked, near tears through the last couple chapters of this book as not many have the power to do that and simply brought to this point by my dislike turned unknown how to feel about Seth and my like for Lena and the course of the events that transpired. While we all could hope for moments like that, when actually offered, I think few would honestly take, which is the part that had me most affected. Then of course, the afterwards from Fields had me downright shocked and ready to yell. Fields is beyond masterful in crafting this book and I highly suggest you pick it up to feel all the feels within the pages.
Grab this one quick if you love: touch her and die, burn the world for her, she falls first but he falls harder, Greek mythology, Atlantis, love triangle (loosely), forced proximity, enemies to lovers, star crossed lovers
Forgotten Retribution by Leigh Fields is a captivating journey through love, betrayal, and sacrifice, set against the backdrop of the mythical Atlantis. The novel intricately blends Greek mythology with a fresh and exciting magic system, creating a rich and immersive world. What truly stands out in this story, however, is the emotional depth of its characters. Lena and Seth's tumultuous relationship is at the heart of the book, with their love marked by heartache. Fields' ability to craft characters that feel so real and raw makes this SUCH a good read.
The emotional rollercoaster between the MMC and FMC, from Seth's unhinged anger to Lena's painful choices, is just such a draw. However, while the book is filled with intense emotional moments, it's not a story that will leave every reader with a sense of closure. The ending is bittersweet, and Fields definitely has me reflecting on it in awe. The combination of tragedy, self-sacrifice, and personal growth makes this book a deeply cathartic experience. With themes of love, revenge, and societal conflict, Forgotten Retribution is a powerful tale that will resonate with readers who enjoy complex characters, heart-wrenching drama, and a world that is as beautiful as it is brutal.
It had everything I could have ever wanted from a story! Atlantis has been a realm of storytelling I enjoy a lot. This was not my Atlantis. And you can have it back Leigh!
This tale follows Lena and Seth as they navigate the complexity of this obhorent Atlantis. Slavery. Diluted bloodlines. It is a fast paced book that brings all the emotions and action you need. The relationship between our MCs is delicious to read and had me frothing at the mouth as things progressed.
I loved my time watching this story unfold until I got to the end...
I knew certain side characters were going to be not very nice so I am glad that my thoughts were correct.
Realistically, I should have expected the feelings because of the dedication but also knowing Leigh... But I wanted to go in hoping for the opposite... I was wrong... So very wrong... You completely broke me... Well done.
Not all stories have happy endings, but not everyone will agree on what a happy ending looks like. Is this ending one that everyone will believe is happy? Probably not. However, it is fitting and arguments can be made that there IS happiness if you only look for it. One thing is for certain: this is a story you will definitely have opinions on.
The tragedy that lies between the pages of this book.... It is heavy. It is deep. It is beautiful! All of the feels in this story! My little black heart hurt for our main characters. I laughed aloud several times. I wanted to overturn the injustice right along the rebels! I didn't pray; "the gods can't help you here."
I cannot wait for to see what our resident grumps, Seth and Calix get into in the next book! Also, I am looking forward to more of Drew's secrets being revealed! He is so sneaky! I am curious as to what other gods will pop up.
I could not put this one down!! It’s a quick red and worth it but do not expect a happy ending here cause you won’t get one.
Seth and Lena have a great love for each other but sadly love just isn’t enough. Lena is not 100% human and she has a mission to free the oppressed that are in her home town.
Her home town is not like ours…. Shrouded by mist that is impossible to escape without help she makes the heart wrenching decision to go back. Will she be able to complete her goal?
Seth is one heck of a hot head and is pissed that Lena left him! He has every intention to make her suffer and feel all the pain she inflicted on him.
However, he starts learning he’s not who he thought he was and starts to embrace the possibility he and Lena will be together again.
This book was addicting. It flowed so quickly that you never got a second to breathe. I almost wish some things had been drug out longer but it was very good. I wish there was more!
The story takes place in Atlantis, our FMC Lena’s hometown. The place has been hidden from the world by a fog and placed in the middle of a Floridian swamp. Magic courses through their veins as descendants of the gods. But they re stuck. Trapped in an ancient society.
The MMC Seth has been in love with Lena since she escaped through the fog last year. When she leaves him to go home, breaking his heart and taking his mother’s ring, he had no choice but to follow her to Atlantis.
Working together, they try to break the curse and fix the broken society. A quick read; it can easily be devoured in one sitting. And you’ll want to. Welcome to Atlantis. ✨
My heart!!! 💔 Why Leigh why? But in all seriousness I absolutely adore this book! This book has sexy men, power, fights, magic and beauty! I mean literally this book has everything you could ever want in a fantasy book. Be warned you will fall in love with characters and if you're an emotional reader like me you will cry. If you live for stories of atlantis and Greek mythology I will forever highly recommend this book. Leigh Crafted a beautiful world with a not so beautiful curse. She brought Atlantis to life in a very haunting way. This book gets deep and will put you through and emotional roller coaster. I live for emotional roller coaster books. This one had me.
If you like to be taken on a journay to Atlantis please read this book it is so worth it!!!
So good!! I am a huge fan of Greek Mythology and I think it was incorporated so well into this story.
Lena isn’t the typical hard ass fem fetal that we’ve gotten used to these days, but that makes the story even better, personally. She does what she feels she has to and her character reflects that and how the society she was raised in shaped her.
Seth is amazing. He says some of the most off the wall things but they always hit the mark. As he learns more about everything Lena’s going through, his mission shifts. Seth is not a perfect book boyfriend or even someone you should idealize. But he is definitely perfect for Lena.
The beginning was oddly slow but also extremely fast-paced when it came to building the back story; it jumped right in but also left you questioning if you missed an important detail somewhere. HOWEVER- all of that is very quickly remedied and your questions WILL be answered. I both loved and hated the second main character (Seth), and was extremely disappointed in the best friend (though I can kind of understand the reasoning of her doing what she did). Overall, a fantastic book with such a sad ending- I was surprised with what he had his mom do, but understand he wanted Lena to have peace with her family <3
Leigh…what have you done to me. It took me two days just to read the last ten pages because my heart was just not ready for the conclusion. I know, I know you warned me in the beginning but I still didn’t prepare lol. This book was wonderfully written and fast paced. I feel as though the story was detailed beautifully and gave a very unique view into the Atlantian world. I am so thankful that I was chosen to arc read this book and I will definitely be reading more books from this author in the future
This is a story that has Greek mythology in it. The FMC is Lena who is half human and leaves to the city of Atlantis. This is a book that at the beginning you think is pretty slow and boring but then you find yourself not being about to put it down. I mean this story has it all from arranged marriage, gods, heartbreak you name it. Lena does whatever she has to do to save her father and break a curse. Yes I said it, a curse and if you want to know more then you’ll have to read it!!! You won’t regret it.
I recieved an ARC of the book and here are my thoughts: It's a fast paced story of love and fate. I normally avoid short books for lack of space for details. That said, this one had it all. I was not draged out nor unrealistically fast. There are several comments on the story, so I won't repeat... but beware there is not the classical happy ever after. It is a nice sunday read though 🙃 I hope there is a series as promissed and the next books are at least a houndred pages longer 😉

Absolutely devoured this in one sitting, the emotional rollercoaster I'm going through after finishing this is shocking as that ending... Just stunning. And re-reading the dedication after the end has set me off again. To be able to create such an emotional connection to the characters in a shorter story shows off a really talented author. And this showcases that you don't have to get the ending that you want in order to really enjoy a book. I can't wait to see where they go from here.
Phenomenal story!!!! Well written and so easy to get sucked into the story! I love the dynamic between Seth and Helena (Lena). I was on the edge of my seat from page 1 needing to know where Leigh was going with their tale. I loved all the twists and turns and love and heartbreak woven throughout the story.
Leigh's take on the Of Dusk And Dawn prophecy is amazing, and I love the Atlantean and Greek/Roman mythology. I look forward to reading more in this set for the Prophecy of Dusk and Dawn!
-Dual POV -Lovers to Enemies to Lovers -Greek Mythology -A Hidden Prophecy -Star Crossed Lovers
This was really good. Everything that Leigh has written turns out good. This was no different. It was emotional, tugs on your heart strings, and just overall sucks you in. Seth and Lena have such a beautiful story. It’s rough here and there for them both but together they are adorable.
I absolutely loved the Greek gods/Atlantis/modern world plot of this book. It was shorter and was a really quick and enjoyable read. It was a little slower at the beginning, but I couldn’t put it down for the second half. The only reason it came down a star for me was that at the beginning I really didn’t like Seth. I totally get that he is impulsive and hot headed, but the fact that he literally held a gun to her chest felt abusive vs seeking retribution. And he acted very childish at the beginning as well. Other than that part, I absolutely loved the two of them and just wanted more! The ending was AMAZING! I loved how beautifully poetic it was and it was so fitting!! All in all, a captivating plot and I was thrilled to find out this will be a prequel for a new series!!! Definitely recommend!
This book was very good. It was a super fast read (very possible to read in one sitting and I’m not a fast reader by any means), was reminiscent of Romeo and Juliet, and had many emotional moments. Even with the warning in the dedication, I still didn’t guess the ending.
I really enjoyed this fantasy about the gods of lore and would recommend it.
I can’t wait to get more stories in this world from Leigh.
This is kinda hard for me to write. I really wanted to like this book. Let’s be honest, every book I go into reading I really want to love. But that wasn’t the case for this book. Just seemed kinda bland. The plot was there it just really fell short. I found myself speed reading just so I could finish it and move on. And the ending!? Guess it depends on how you look at it if you would consider it to be a HEA. I did not which was disappointing.
I absolutely loved this book. It is such a good take on the Greek Gods and Atlantis. Definitely have some tissues ready as this one isn’t your classic happy ending. Leah writes so you can see every scene played out in your head like you are watching a movie. This book has a bit of everything from love to hate to love again, action, Greek Gods, a great plot with twists and turns. And the story not ending how you would think.
For a short book this really got to the feels! I was happy, mad, sad, confused, enraged.. all of the things for these characters.
We have a little bit of Greek mythology mixed with a curse on Atlantis which is an entirely different world we learn about. World building was great, especially for a shorter book. Same with character development - you get to know and feel with/for them.
Looking forward to reading more about this world in coming books :)
Let the book hangover commence! This was a very good, fast paced, high energy book. There is so much action and suspense you will be biting your nails and on the edge of your seat for sure. I really loved the character of Lena and how strong and selfless she is. And Seth made things fun with his I don’t care, I do what I want attitude. But be prepared for heartbreak after heartbreak. Great book.
Forgotten Retribution is the story of Lena and Seth. Lena comes to Florida through the fog from Atlantis. She falls in love with Seth but she never tells him who she is, and then she finds out who he is. When she finds out she runs back to Atlantis to take care of some things but leaves Seth a note telling him not to follow. Which in my opinion was asking him to follow. It’s the equivalent to “don’t push the big red button”.
Seth finds his way to Lena and they have their adventures, heartache, love, and all the other emotions two people could have. He fell for her hard, she fell for him, but it was easier for her to leave and turn off the emotions. Leigh does an amazing job conveying the emotion between not only the main characters Lena and Seth but also the other characters like her parents, friends, and others in Atlantis.
This story is also part of a standalone fantasy romance series that all interpret the same prophecy - “The Prophecy Of Dusk & Dawn: A light unfolds in the darkness, beginning what will have no end.” Looking forward to reading more of the stories in this world.
One of my favorite quotes from this book is part of the prophecy “A light that unfolds in the darkness, beginning what will have no end. The forgotten will find their retribution. The innocent will become the violence. That day will come when there is love of ruin.”
Let me tell you I wasn’t prepared for this one to end in such a way. Seth is unhinged through the entire thing but it’s all for love. Dimos is truly a douche canoe through and through Lena just wants to save the forgotten Now that the cute binding Atlantis is broken the Greek gods are free to roam. Honestly had a hard time putting this one down and I’m looking forward to the next
