I really like S.J. Pajonas' Amagi series and was excited about this novella set in the same world. This story follows Sora who is living in poverty and meets a talented designer Tiago, they have an instant connection and danger brings them closer as they bond while trying to save a cat-like creature. Soon a corporation is after them who wants the creature. And Sora and Tiago go on the run to keep the creature save and along the way they grow closer.
This was a great novella, the pacing was fast, but it didn't feel rushed. I liked Sora and was curious about her past and what happened to her, which slowly came to light over the course of the book. I liked the reveal and how Sora grew from her mistakes and wanted to do better. I liked seeing Sora and Tiago grow closer. And the cat like creature they save which they name Stella is so cute. I also liked the other character we meet later on and wish we had seen more of him and other characters connected to Sora and her past.
I like how there was more about the planet and it's jungles as well as the creatures that live there. And there is a tie in later in the story with the characters form the Amagi series. I hope we'll see more of Sora in future Amagi books. I liked the ending and the hint of what's next for Sora.
To summarize: This was a great novella set in the Amagi series, while it can be read as a standalone it does tie in with the main books and I read it after book 4. I liked reading about Sora, seeing her grow closer to Tiago and slowly getting to know more about her past. The cat-like creature they save was cute and I liked seeing more of the plant and the creatures that live there. All in all a great addition to the series and I hope Sora will be in future Amagi books.
