Life sucks less when you're finding your way with two loving, beautiful women.
In a few short weeks, Gabe's life has changed completely. He went from working nightmare jobs and living with awful roommates to a small studio apartment that was intended to be all his own to renting a house on a quiet street and sharing it with the woman of his dreams as he began to seriously pursue his ideal job.
But the changes are far from over.
Gabe now finds himself in the company of a staggeringly attractive redhead, Holly. For all her beauty, she is shy, awkward, and at just as unhappy a place in her life as he was not all that long ago. And, with Ellen's encouragement, he begins to seriously pursue her, looking for something more romantic and permanent.
I am Misty Vixen (not my real name obviously), and I imagine that if you’re reading this, you want to know a bit more about me.
In the beginning (late 2014), I was an erotica author. I wrote about sex, specifically about human men banging hot inhuman women. Monster girls, alien ladies, paranormal babes. It was a lot of fun, but as the years went on, I realized that I was actually striving to be a harem author. This didn’t truly occur to me until late 2019-early 2020. Once the realization fully hit, I began doing research on what it meant to be a harem author. I’m kind of a slow learner, so it’s taken me a bit to figure it all out.
That being said, I’m now a harem author!
Just about everything I write nowadays is harem fiction: one man in loving, romantic, highly sexual relationships with several women. Nowadays, I tend to write more human on human stuff, but I still have a lot of non-human ladies in mind for the future, so if that’s your thing then stick around.
I’d say beyond writing harems, I tend to have themes that I always explore in my fiction, and they encompass things like trust, communication, respect, honesty, dealing with emotional problems in a mature way…basically I like writing about functional and healthy relationships. Not every relationship is perfect, but I don’t really do drama unless the story actually calls for it. In total honesty, I hate drama. I hate people lying to each other and I hate needless rom-com BS plots that could have been solved by two characters having a two minute conversation.
Author Vixen writes very unique tales. I’ve read all but one of her series, and have GOT to read that one too.
I truly appreciate a modern everyday setting with “true-to-life” characters. No magic. No tragic death and being transported elsewhere by a goddess who needs a hero for something or other. No were creatures. Just characters placed in setting we can all relate to, crappy job and obnoxious ex-partners and all, and then talking and figuring stuff out. That said, I was just a little on the fence with the first installment. I found I really had to think about the character interaction. There’s a LOT of talking things through, and personal bravery with sharing honest feelings.
All-in-all, I realized I TRULY enjoyed it, and this second installment was just as terrifically interesting as the first.
Although the story is told through Gabe, the other members of the core group have a strong presence as well. The author doesn’t tell the story through them (yet) but the MCs thoughts and actions are greatly influenced by these two characters, and they drive the story forward as much as Gabe.
A really unique, thoughtful, and interesting tale.
Okay, I tried leaving a review for the first book in this series, but for some unknown reason, the program wouldn't let me. So, this review is for the entire series so far. The characters, and here I mean all of them, are incredibly well developed, each with their particular personalities that are also highly complex. Excellent development of the characters. The story is timely and poignant to such a degree that it is, or at least can be, very emotional at various points within the story. Not quite as relaxing as one might hope for, specifically because of the high level of angst present within the various and sundry relationships and characters. Of course, this is also what leads to such a very interesting story. And last, but certainly not least, the romantic erotica that is continually a part of the story is a huge draw.
I have the older 7 issue series and really enjoyed it. When I saw the Our own way volume one listed on Amazon I thought that was a error of some kind. It turns out it was a rewrite and it is so much better. The characters personalities are better developed, the chemistry between the characters and I think it’s going to be a really enjoyable series. Sorry guys no spoilers!
I’ve read a number of Misty Vixen’s books now and I’m impressed with this series. It’s helping me explore my own relationship better and hopefully control my interactions with my significant other. I didn’t realize that we are all unfulfilled in our lives so much but clearly I’ve been missing the signs for a while. Can’t wait for the next.
Gabe gets more serious with Ellen and Holly, and his writing gets a re-launch. Builds on the first novel. Over 400 pages again, and a lot of discussions about relationships and social expectations. Looking forward to book 3. Enjoyed.
It's a really well written book and entertaing as was the first one, but I don't think I'll continue with the series. I don't know if it's just harem that I'm not into or the dom/brat dynamic between Gabe and Chloe. I just get the ick when I hear how he talks to her, even though its consensual; just not for me. If you're good with dom/sub content, then you'll enjoy this series for sure.
Misty Vixen you need a round of applause for how well you develop the intermingling of these relationships! I love the character dynamics and even contrast with the main harem and friends. Holly’s family instance was well done and embarrassingly relatable. Overall, this is a great book series and I can’t wait for more!
Misty once again delivers a fun, sexy romp. It's a good plot with characters you can relate to. Some truly deep emotions and fears. Enjoying this series and can't wait for the next installment.
I really love the Our Own Way books ( and others ) by Misty Vixen. They are great story's, well written, very very sexy without being gross and over the top. I anxiously wait for Our Own Way 3. I love you Misty.
How often do you find a book that has characters you actually care about, who all seem to care for each other, while enjoying some of the hottest sex ever written?!? Enjoy!!
So far, this is my second favorite story from my favorite Kindle author. The story is tight and entertaining, with lots of intriguing characters and great sex. Thanks again
This sequel had more of a slow burn, build up but it obviously set the stage and filled out more character depth to make the story better. The author knows real life, they know fantasy and they blend them seamlessly.
I loved this book as much as the first! It's a very healthy love story continued. I love that it acknowledges the toxic way society can be and while showing a fantasy in a realistic way. Neither come off as farfetched. It's a great read.
Another excellent entry in this exceptional series. I love these wonderful relationships and fleshed out characters. Chloe's Spicy scenes were incredible. I can't wait for more.
(Audible.) A relationship from the first book expands to sex with multiple ladies. Also gets a little kinky, although with prior permission and safe words.
I love reading your books Misty there damn good to be what they are and shit I'm not going to say not here where everybody can read but thank you I am a male though
Game's life meanders on, and his romantic life is on a roll. As he bit-by-bit expands his social circle, new opportunities present themselves as well as new romantic partners. As the blurb suggest this series is heading towards a harem scenario, but in a way that isn't obnoxious or exaggerated. He gets lucky, for sure! But the story is thoroughly slice-of-life an well within the borders of reality.
In genera Misty Vixen is a good author an the writing, characters and story are well done. If you are looking for a more realistic (if very fortunate) men's romance novel this is a good candidate.
A good continuation from book 1. This seems semi-autobiographical for the author, and I'm idly curious as to how close this hews to their actual experience as a writer.
The coterie (I increasingly dislike the term "harem") grows mostly by adding auxiliary members, and ends this episode with the core group moving more fully into "their own way" in the modern economy. Book 3 is evidently on its way, and I'm curious to see where that goes.
