You, Me, and Lucky Number 13

Rate this book
Bestselling author Kristy Marie delivers a high-octane fake relationship romance where a fiery engineer down on her luck agrees to be the pretend girlfriend of her infuriating (and infuriatingly attractive) former best friend, a reckless driver who might be her ticket back to the top... if their explosive chemistry doesn't blow them apart first.

I used to rule the racetrack. Now, I'm just a hothead on a losing streak. Desperate for a win, I've alienated everyone, burned every bridge, and run out of options. Except one. Lola the brilliant, fiery engineer who could turn my luck around. Too bad she hates my guts. Five years ago, I walked away from her, leaving a trail of heartbreak and regret. Now, I'm back with an offer she can't refuse... if I can convince her to forget the past and take one last chance on me.

My career is toast, thanks to my spectacularly bad judgment. Now I'm jobless, desperate, and considering a proposition from the one man who could make things Cole Lawson, Formula One's hottest driver... and my former best friend. His fake girlfriend, fake relationship, and an actual job. It's a terrible idea. A recipe for a high-octane cocktail of chaos and charm. And unfortunately, I am still a sucker for both.

You, Me, and Lucky Number 13 is a fake dating, romantic comedy and a complete standalone.

“This is us, Lola,” he murmurs, his voice husky. “Just like it was always supposed to be, just like it always should be.”

I enjoyed this one so much! It was childhood friends turned enemies to lovers done right! I loved Cole & Lola together! Their banters were amazing and I liked how their connection was just as intense despite staying away from each other for a while. Lola was crazy but I loved her the same! And Cole was just as passionate! The racing aspect of the book was also well portrayed and added a thrill to the plot. Overall, I really liked the book. It was fast paced and entertaining and I can't wait to see what comes next by the author!

I really wanted to like this book but for some reason I just didn't. I think it should have been a little longer so that the characters could be fleshed out. I liked them but I don't feel like I knew them.

A formula one champion and a talented engineer with a history of heartbreak and a shot at epic second chance? Consider me invested from the first page! Cole Lawson and Lola Quinn are like fireworks together. Their crazy banter and exchange of sharp words hiding true feelings was so entertaining! The frenemies to lovers tension was on point. You can feel their all consuming connection deep in your heart. They have hurt each other once upon a time. Mostly Cole. Lola doesn't know if she can trust him, specially after being cheated by her recent boyfriend( also a rival driver). But as soon as she agrees to Cole's fake dating & working together plan and moves to his house ..she realises their connection was never lost.

🏁 frenemies to lovers
🏁 second chance romance
🏁 sports romance
🏁 witty and sexy and heart aching
🏁 fake dating
🏁 forced proximity/roommate to lovers

Lola is a firecracker with endless sass, stubbornness and loyalty. But our girl is a big softie inside. Cole is obviously super arrogant and c0cky and sexy but like Lola, he has scars and broken pieces. They once lost their love to mind games and power plays but this time they are playing to win. For the championship. Against the enemy. For the happily ever after. They had to uncover the trust buried deep under heartbreak and manipulations but their souls are perfect for each other. And soon they became the best kind of partners. Off and on the track. It was simply exhilarating and so satisfying to see Lola helping Cole to overcome one obstacle after another in the game. Like Cole helped to heal her heart. It was fast paced. It has all the thrill of a good sports romance. It had a great slow burn but when the spice hits..it was scorching hot. It was hilarious and funny at times, in typical Kristy Marie way. A complete package!

I'm always grappling to get a hold of Kristy's books whenever she releases them. Several years ago, when I got back into reading, the author's books were some of my favorites. Now, whenever she releases a book, I'm always all over that!

This book was such a great reminder of her rom-com era. I've read the author's newest books, which are on the lighter side of dark romance. It was wonderful getting to read another rom-com.

I honestly liked the book for the most part. I loved the FMC and MMC. The FMC was relatable and honestly a bit crazy in a funny way. The MMC was grumpy and an alphahole to the core. Who doesn't love that?!?!?

One of the things that I wasn't the biggest fan of was how fast time moved. The timeline moves forward at an awkward pace, and we are told things rather than shown them. I also wanted more push and pull from the characters. Their chemistry was through the roof, but IMO, it felt like it started fizzling out at about 60% into the book.

Thank you to the author for an ARC! I'm still over here hoping we get more 2nd gen books to the Commander in Briefs series!

ARC review of You, Me and Lucky Number 13 by Kristy Marie
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

An absolutely adorable Formula 1 romance. As always, the banter and tension from Kristy Marie is unmatched! I will always read what she writes because the banter is just incredible.
Lola and Cole are such a sweet couple. Underneath his grumpy facade he’s just a guy that’s always been in love with his best friend. And she’s just the girl who got crushed by her crush a long time ago and doesn’t really trust him again. It comes together in the most adorable way.
The formula 1 racing was a huge part of the story and I had no idea how interesting it was. I was definitely wrapped up in the racing scenes!

✨I definitely recommend this as a sweet and fun (slightly spicy) short read(255pgs). With fantastic banter!

This book is a romp of a good time!
Cheeky banter, irreverent humor, and flawed characters whose antics will make you chuckle while shaking your head.
I loved that this was a true second chance story, and that everyone’s careers and personal lives were on their last leg. It evened out the playing field and made the happily ever after all the sweeter for knowing that it was hard earned by all involved.
This was the first book I’ve read by this author, and I look forward to checking out more in the future

"I base my entire life decisions on my lucky number thirteen. It has never steered me wrong. Until today."

I love everything that Kristy is writing, but I really missed her entertaining rom coms!
Lola and Cole were delightful to watch! Their banters were incredible, their status that went from best friends to enemies to fake dating to lovers left me very satisfied and the formula 1 aura was full of excitement!
I enjoyed this story very much! It was exactly what I was in need this difficult period of time that I am going through!

"Let's get crazy!"

Lola was a reckless, but adorable creature! Unfortunately, that fact landed her in a difficult position!
She is in desperate need of work since all the doors had closed for her! The best opportunity is coming in the form of her ex best friend and old crush of hers, Cole Lawson, a mighty driver of Formula 1 but his terms has the ability to wreck her heart for once again... Can she take this deal and leave her heart out of the equation?

"Maybe, there’s still a chance for us to rewrite our story."

Cole's losing strike is destroying everything that he had built for the last years!
And the best option for him to get back into the game is in the form of the girl he left behind, the one whose broke her heart!
He needs her to become the best for once again and to rebuilt his image by pretending that they are the new hot couple in the industry!
Will she accept this deal or their old feelings will get in the way and destroy everything?

"I have one obsession, and it’s way more demanding than any woman could ever be: racing."

I loved Lola and Cole very much!
Lola was delicious in a crazy way! I like how crazy she was, even though inside she was a big softie! She had a soft spot for Cole and that wasn't in her best interest!
Cole had made mistakes in the past, but bringing Lola back into his life is changing everything!
These two were incredible together and it was delightful to watch them fall one more time!

“This is us, Lola,” he murmurs, his voice husky. “Just like it was always supposed to be, just like it always should be.”

I was so excited when this hit my kindle and I loved it so much! “You, Me, and Lucky Number 13” is a fun, flirty and passionate second chance F1 sports romance that was such a fun rom-com.

Lola is passionate about a lot of things and one of those things is racing. And when her now ex leads her to make some hostile-ish decisions, she’s now out of a job. The last person she was expecting to offer her a job back in back in racing is the boy that stole her heart and also the one who she thought betrayed her when they were in school. Cole Lawson is F1’s hottest driver and sponsors want him to show a less playboy side. Cole hires her as her race engineer and to be his fake girlfriend. The two vow to remain professional but the two still have unresolved feelings from when they were younger.

Lola is a firecracker and I loved her from the first chapter. She’s smart, passionate, and isn’t afraid to go after anyone that has wronged her. Lola works in a man dominated world and is one of the best, it shines throughout the book. Cole is a classic playboy F1 driver who loves the fast life on and off the track but you could tell that there was more to him underneath it all. Cole and Lola had a strong past with a misunderstanding that can happen to two kids. I loved their banter and the way they knew which buttons to push to get each other going. The connection and chemistry that they had when they were younger was still there and only grew as they got to know each other as adults. Kristy did an amazing job of bringing F1 to life, I felt like I was on the track with Cole as he raced around the world with Lola as his engineer. There was action that kept me turning the pages and I loved the ending. I can’t wait to read the next book that Kristy Marie releases.

I literally just finished reading this story and I absolutely love it! It was captivating, entertaining, amazing, and car racing.
Lola is a badass. She is smart, beautiful, fierce and a little bit crazy. Lola had me in shambles 😭. Literally! She is a car engineer and she is amazing at it. She's been dumped, fired and has hit rock bottom. I just fell in love her instantly. Cole is Cole 🥰. Like, he's fine, smart, cocky and a hotshot. He is a race car driver and good at too. He is feeling the pressure with the changes. He is so thoughtful and caring and honest which make me fell in love with him more. He has a different side to him that will make you swoon. Seriously! I love all the background characters in the story too and helped the story along to make it even better.
I just love how Cole and Lola are thrown back together just like old times. It was different since they both are adults now. It was good to see them start back as friends to lovers than more. I love the banter between them so much you can feel the heat coming from the pages. Their chemistry and the way they just clicked is awesome. You should definitely grab this book if you're in a mood for some love and car racing.😉 It will be worth your time and every penny.
Kristy, girl you did it again! You gave me all the feels with Cole and Lola's story. I love this story ❤️. I absolutely love your writing and your stories. You create this beautiful world that I never want to leave. You're one of my favorite authors. You definitely did your thing with this one. You drew me in and I was hooked from the first page! I did not expect you will have me laughing so hard, smiling so hard, sighing and emotional. It was beautiful. You always surprised me at every book and keep me on the edge of my seat with your words. I wait to see what you got next for us 💞. Amazing work again Kristy Marie!💐💐💐😘

You me and lucky number 13 ARC review :

This was my first time reading a book by Kristy Marie and I had the honour of doing an ARC and all I can say is I freaking loved it !

Being an F1 fan myself , I couldn’t wait to dig in and read about Cole and Lola.

The banter between them is just chiefs kiss! Lola is literally my spirit animal. Chapter 1-2 had me in tears from laughing so hard. Her personality in general , the sassy, sarcastic edgy girl verses the sassy , broody boy. 10/10.

It’s pure enemies to lovers ( kind of trope) but they actually deep down were never enemies. It was just a misunderstanding.

My thoughts: As an avid F1 fan, I was so excited to read this and I am so glad I did. It was an easy, quick read for me and I really didn’t want to put it down. The story opens to a completely hilarious situation in the grocery store parking lot involving Lola that may have ended even funnier. But, when Lola reaches out to her old, former best friend, whom she has a crush on, for help, he reluctantly agrees. However, you can tell they both still have feelings for each other. I really loved the relationship between Cole and Lola from the start and their banter back and forth. They didn’t hold back and you can definitely tell they both were in love from the beginning. I really liked that they were best friends to enemies to lovers. The drama and backstory that connected them all made the story even better. I really enjoyed this story and I hope there will be more.

Reading this book isn't so different from being in a race car. It's all twists and turns, highs and lows, and careening toward the finish line. I could never guess what was coming next. Lola is especially unpredictable and hilarious. She is full throttle through the whole story, and she is not afraid to say how she feels about things. Cole is a little less wide open, but he is a perfect match for Lola. Their banter is excellent, and their chemistry is incredible. I loved it when they worked on or rode in Eleanor, a 1970 Dodge Charger. This is one of the funniest books I have read all year.

I freaking loved Lola and Cole. These two have history so let the sparks fly! Lola is fiesty, sassy, fierce and on a rampage after her ex cheated on her and her actions may lead her to trouble and right back into the arms of the man who broke her heart years ago. Cole is on a losing streak right now and needs an engineer he can trust and when Lola needs a job how can he resist? Such a great read, loved it!

A fast and fun read. Second chance, romance with Formula One, racing and strong AF heroine. The story starts off with a hilarious scene that had me laughing. I loved how Lola was the pitmaster giving Cole instructions and how well they worked together as a team. The sexual tension and chemistry was top-tier. I loved their happily ever after.

You, Me and Lucky Number 13

If you love a good ‘00s rom-com this one gave all the vibes. The banter and comical situations our characters go through just made me kick my feet giddy and laughing.

Lola starts off strong in her pajamas no less chasing after her cheating ex in a parking lot. What an intro to the hot mess that her life has been of late. To top it off her brothers the sheriff and while she’s in lock up for her little incident she calls the one person she didn’t want to turn to…her ex-best friend Cole. Cole and Lola have an interesting history knowing each other since high school but didn’t part on the best of terms. Cole’s a grump and also in a bit of a pickle with his F1 team so to get out of it him and Lola come to an agreement. They fake date and he helps her with a job on his team. Easy right…only if these two didn’t fight like an old married couple and have a lot of hot tension to boot.

These two were everything I love about great chemistry and playful banter. They were like oil and water but under it all they just wanted each other but too stubborn to admit. Overall what a fun read and must to add to your tbr!

Lola and Cole are absolute fire!!!

"I want him. All of him. Not just the stolen moments, the hidden rendezvous, and the carefully crafted lies we tell the world. I want us. Real, raw, and messy as hell."

Ok, first off I knew from the first paragraph that this book was going to be all sorts of awesome. How could it not be when the MFC was trying to run down her lying, cheating ex in the parking lot of a grocery store. What's not to love, right? Oh, but things just keep getting better and better. Lola has already been burned by Cole and she can't believe that she's asking for his help. But she needs to be focused on her career and who better to work for than Cole Lawson.

It doesn't take long for the twists and turns to happen and not just on the race track. The past soon resurfaces. Will it be too much for Lola to completely let go of past hurts and let Cole atone for the mistakes that he's made. Sometimes old hurts die hard and it's even harder when someone is out to sabotage you.

These two burn faster than rubber tires on a hot racetrack and I was there for every single hot, sizzling moment between these two!

I love Kristy's books.
It's just a fact, I've never read a book of hers that I didn't like.

I love her sarcastic, hilarious humor and the banter-filled discussions between the characters.

This book is like her other books, perfect.
A little sweet, very action-packed, dramatic and incredibly funny.

I just love her writing style.
I could swear she writes these books specifically for me, the way I like them best.

Cole and Lola are so damn great together.
Their scorching hot chemistry is all over the book.
Their banter-filled discussions are hilarious and I will definitely be using some of them in my own discussions soon 😉😂
They are as stubborn as they can be, both of them.
Two people still living in the past but wishing for a better future.
Two very complicated people with a very complex past.
Will they take advantage of the second chance and preferably not kill each other in the process? 😂

Yes, you have to read the book if you want to know more about Cole and Lola very race filled, exciting live 😉

This was such an entertaining read that had me smiling and laughing the whole way through. Lola Quinn and Cole Lawson were best friends growing up, but a moment in their past has caused them to avoid each other for the past six years. When Lola finds herself in an unfortunate situation, Cole swoops in to save the day with an offer she cannot refuse.

There’s so much history between these two, but forced into a working and fake dating relationship really has the tension and chemistry running high. I haven’t read many Formula One books, but I love the fact that on top of Cole being a driver, Lola is a race engineer. It provides for such a fun dynamic, and the combination of these two together, on and off the track, has more than just the rubber on his tires burning hot.

Lola is full of snark and sass, and she definitely provided me with some much needed entertainment. I love Cole and Lola had a fun time reading this one! Thank you Kristy Marie and Grey’s Promotions for the advance copy!

I don't say this very often, but this could have been longer. The character stories were very rushed, in my opinion. It felt like being on the outside of an inside joke. And as the reader, I should be in on the inside jokes? I would have just liked to understand the characters just a smidge better.

I did receive this as an ARC, so this particular thing may have been fixed (I wrote down the wrong day as the release date. I thought I had more time), but there were a couple parts where the story was repeated. As if the author had one thought about how a scene should go, then decided to take it another way, but forgot to delete the first idea. Again, this may have been fixed in the final released version.

I wanted more banter from Lola and Cole. Although their initial tension seemed to be because of a misunderstand in the past, I wanted them to butt heads a little more. I wanted Lola to push his possessive buttons a little more.

The way the races were described was absolutely incredible. Honestly would have liked more behind the scenes in the races and with the crew.

Like I said, this could have been longer. I feel we could have got just a bit more depth if it was.

Thank you Grey's Promotions and Kristy Marie for sending me this ARC.

I've been in a bit of a reading slump lately, but since Kristy is one of my favorite authors, I wasn’t surprised when I couldn’t put down *YM&L13*.

Lola is a fierce, firecracker mechanic / engineer who's recovering from a broken heart. (Spoiler alert: Lola can be a bit insane) She ends up making a deal with someone she thought would always stay in her past.

Cole is a racer with an attitude problem and a history of firing workers. He’s down on his luck, not winning races. When an opportunity presents, he proposes a deal: a fake relationship. Lola gets a job, a place to stay, and all she has to do is tolerate Cole.

Oh, and did I mention Cole and Lola have a messy past? They were best friends until she made a move and he rejected her, choosing fame and racing instead.

Is this a second chance at love, or is Lola on the verge of an orange jumpsuit?

P.S. I felt like this book could have been longer. Maybe it’s because I’ll miss them?

This was an awesome read!

"The chemistry between us, the way our minds work in tandem, the undeniable spark that ignites every time our eyes meet...it's all real."

Lola Quinn and Cole Lawson have a shared past. When they were teenagers, he broke her heart, but desperate times call for desperate measures. They strike a deal: she has a job and he has a fake-girlfriend. However, things are never that simple - history, close proximity, and a connection re-ignited.

"For years, I've tried to bury the feelings he evokes, to convince myself that I'm better off without him. But the truth is, I've never stopped wanting him."

I loved these two! Lola was exactly what Cole needed to get him back on a winning streak, but I loved how having her back in his life put things into perspective for him. Lola was snarky, sassy and brilliant at her job. Cole was cocky but, underneath it all, he had a massive heart and knew what he wanted and was willing to fight for it. This story was wonderfully written - I especially loved the imagery the author evoked as she wrote about racing. It was exciting, poetic and beautiful.

I just love this playful side of Kristy Marie!! This character loa is funny nervous and quirky!! Cole is just a hunk and a half. Too bad they don’t like each other… or do they?
Lola has hated Cole since she was a scorned teenager. Cole hurt her in the most unimaginable way. He refused her love and she’s kept that in her heart till today.
The story begins with Lola trying to run over her cheating ex boyfriend Chad with her car. He is the heir to Tane Drivjng and is a race car driver and technically her boss.
She has nowhere to go after he smeared her reputation in dirt. No one will ever want to work with her again.
Cole comes to her rescue and offers her a job on his team and a slowly in his life. I cannot say what happens but jt has a lot to do with their past and her ex.
Amazing and refreshing story line. Loved all of it.

Meh. This one was disappointing. If you read my reviews regularly, you may already know how much I enjoyed Kristy Marie’s IOU and The Potter’s series. And with the promise of more hilarious moments combined with Marie’s sarcastic heroes and feisty fun females, I was excited. Practically salivating for this one. But it was slow, and with no pull to either of the main characters I did the decent thing and skim read to the end. Don’t get me wrong, it started fun and I was digging Lola at the beginning but not Cole. He had no charm and I didn’t gel with his vibe. However I did like Luke. Could we have more Luke?

Another win from Kristy Marie.

Kristy Marie has once again delivered a rom-com with laughs from the very first page. The thing I love about her writing is that she makes her characters so relatable and boy was Lola on the hot mess express. As always, Kristy’s heroines bring the sass and the banter and I am here for it every time.

Cole was a broody, grumpy alpha but watching his and Lola’s back and forth was hilarious and sizzling at the same time.

This book had such a fun setting! I loved the storyline around racing and that our heroine is equally as passionate about cars as her man Cole. Lola is so spirited in such a lovable way. I couldn't help but enjoy her personal brand of chaos. I loved these two needed each other for a fake relationship that turns real while also balancing their deep history. Cole is a bit broody and made such a good hero with his deeply repressed feelings towards Lola. It was easy to feel their chemistry and emotional connection.

YOU ME AND LUCKY NUMBER 13 by Kristy Marie

You guys this was a short fun read. It may have been short but it sure had everything I needed. This is Lola and Cole’s story. This was a fun and lighthearted read and I couldn’t put it down. It had plenty of drama to keep me interested. The banter was fantastic I mean who doesn’t love that. Lola and Cole couldn’t be more perfect for one another. Definitely a must read and one I highly recommend.

I love the first half of the book so much. Lola is a tigress who fought throughout the book. She is my favorite in this book!
The car racing bits were too good I felt the buzz of that energy while reading too. What may not have worked for me is that the book was short for the characters to grow but still the author has done a fabulous job in the few pages. Be ready for a ride with no silly breakups!

This book was 3.75 for me!

This was such a great sports romance. I will never fall out of love with sports romances.

Cole Lawson is a Formula 1 champion and Lola Quinn is a talented engineer.

Lola is loyal, stubborn, witty and fierce.
Cole is arrogant and grumpy but he has scars(And who doesn't love a grumpy MMC)

It's hilarious and the crazy banter is just 🤌🏻✨

And I loved Eleanor-the car they build in high school as they were both passionate about racing!

I just felt it was a bit predictable. But it's entirely my fault as I have read so many sports romance at this point

This book is a complete stand alone and a short read.
Add this book to your tbr!
