The Cursed Seth Siblings #1

A Summer Lesson in Romance

Rate this book

She came to Darjeeling to work, even though it practically was a vacation

Satya has spent her entire life cooped up in Kolkata, and is determined to exercise her newfound independence as a university graduate. Accepting a summer job as a live-in tutor at the Seth family’s bungalow in Darjeeling seems like the perfect step in that direction. The perfect balance of doing what she did best while also having fun.

Her student’s father, the brooding Mr. Aakash Seth, doesn’t believe she’s up to the task, though. In trying to prove him wrong, she comes to the daunting realization that he might be the embodiment of everything she’s ever wanted in a man.

He thought he’d experienced enough to know the extraordinary deceptions women were capable of.

Aakash’s attraction to Satya is instant, undeniable, and wholly inappropriate. Besides, he can’t risk repeating his humiliating and devastating past, can’t allow himself to care about anyone besides his beloved family, and he certainly won’t allow himself to open up to another woman.

Only, there’s no stopping the all-consuming effect Satya’s sensual charms and sincere affection have on him.

Don't let the cover put you off. I thought it was going to be a little cheesy, but ooompfhmm it was such a good book!

Satya (the FMC) is a university graduate who accepts a live-in tutor position for the summer, at a tea plantation in Darjeeling. Aakash (the MMC), her student’s father, is first introduced as scarred and a little grumpy.

I really loved Satya. She was smart, determined, and (to me) super relatable in her crush on Aakash with gems like this:

“Yet the lone lamp switched on in the room cast a glow on him—so warm and inviting, Satya wanted to know what treasures he had hidden under that straining shirt.

Dammit Satya, get a grip!”

And Aakash, omg. He was DREAMY. Underneath that grumpy exterior, he was a doting father and good brother, and passionate about his work and doing right by his community. And majoring crushing on Satya as well. I mean, swoon.

This book had basically everything I want in a romance — the giddiness from the initial crush, the heart eyes from the connection between Satya and Aakash as their relationship developed (it was a little age gap/off limits, but nothing overdone), and the STEAM. I was not expecting the truly excellent spice that we got, so I was like 🤗😍😯🥵🥵😍. For a 144 page book, I think it was smart to keep the focus on the relationship and the external plot light.

This is the only book that Noor Juman has released, but I hope there is more to come because I absolutely loved this.

On Kindle Unlimited but I will probably purchase to re-read because I loved it that much.

I really liked this book. Satya the female lead, is great - she is young but not naive or submissive - she stands up for herself, is capable and intelligent and knows that she's smart and deserves good things. The male lead Aakash is grumpy/damaged but not rude or cruel, and he's a good Father to his daughter. There is an age gap of 15 years and Aakash has a bit of guilt/angst around this which drives the main plot.

The forbidden aspect is fun, they have to sneak around but there's no real “danger” if they were to be discovered. I liked that.

Jiji the daughter appears just the right amount and is well written. She seemed like an actual 8 year old whereas so many children in romance books act like babies or are "wise beyond their years".

Spicy scenes were hot and plentiful. He calls her “little girl” and she calls him “Daddy” but there isn't any D/s or age play; she's pretty confident in bed and not a virgin.

Overall I really enjoyed the book and would recommend it!

Contemporary romance set on a tea plantation in Darjeeling, with a focus on the romance and not too much time devoted to the obligatory Plot Moppet. It’s kind of a contemporary Gothic - our hero is the sardonic tea plantation owner, coping with the aftereffects of a serious car accident, while our heroine is the bright, capable summer tutor of his eight-year-old daughter - but with sex scenes, and instead of an angry housekeeper you get the hero’s sarcastic, hotel-running sister, about whom I hope there is eventually a sequel.

I finished the book in three days. Loved the story and honestly I would love to know more about the other charachters as well.
It's a well written story and I enjoyed the dynamic between the main charachters. Wouldn't mind a man like this in my life either to be honest 😅 hope you guys love it as much as I did😊

Ebook

* Summary: Hired to tutor a young girl at a remote tea plantation for the summer, Satya finds herself deeply attracted to her employer - despite his initial grumpiness and mysterious past.

* Stats: CR, M/F, open door with Daddy kink, stand alone.

* Notes: I enjoyed the FMC and some of the story (though it felt a bit cobbled together, rather than polished), and thought the sex scenes were particularly well written, but overall, this just didn’t do it for me. I didn’t feel like the conflict was resolved convincingly, and didn’t like how the MMC behaved (especially towards the end of the book). I’d happily read more from this author, and please, god, someone get this book a better cover.

A fairly simple story about a live-in tutor Satya, who falls in love with her employer Aakash, this May-December romance starts off a little like Jane Eyre set in Darjeeling, gets really raunchy midway, and ends a little like an Austen novel, and surprisingly a little bit of Begum Rokeya, with the green energy commentary?
I know the author went into it intending to dabble in writing some smut, but she clearly kept her big-picture brain turned on when weaving the story.

Yes, as the author of this book, I am extremely biased. But what can I say, I love Satya and Aakash a lot.

This book was okay. The tea garden setting was cool, and I wish there'd been a little more of that. Actually "I wish there'd been a little more" is how I felt about most aspects of this book. It's a short page count, and there's more plot and character development than I expected, but it still felt rushed. I think it would have benefited from more chapters and fewer time skips.

Also, the narration once uses the words "fleshy groove" to describe the vag, which is probably my biggest takeaway.
