Unfortunately for Scharlette, saving humanity from destruction has made her pretty popular – and to her great dismay, the people of Panoptica would quite like to make her president.
She’d much rather attempt to rescue her little sister, lost to an exploding sandwich press ten years ago. Tomothy and trusty timeship Gordon are only too happy to help, and set to work pouring drinks and firing up the teleportals.
Meanwhile, a group of ambitious scientists have restored Earth’s prehistoric life, including T-Rexes, pterosaurs, and velociraptors – despite everyone knowing how that will turn out – to the custom built Planet Dinosaurs.
Wouldn’t it be a terrible shame if Scharlette somehow winds up there? And if she does, will it hurt her election chances?
Most importantly, who’s been doing green poo on the stairs?
I now need to re-read the other two books as there's been a long gap in-between. This one was superb and I love the new version of English. It could easily get absorbed into everyday language with a big enough following.
No spoilers, given the title, but the characters are superbly written.
I'm now looking for every other book Mr Bowring has written.
Hurry up and write another Scharlette book. Please.
I'm a big fan of this series so I was happy to discover a third book had been released. It's a solid entry and builds upon the foundations built in previous books. However, this one didn't quite work for me. I'm not sure if it was the addition of new characters who I couldn't warm up to or the fact that the storyline strays quite far from the relationships we've seen develop over the last few books. A highlight for me was Zippy though. I'd be happy to see more of him. And Gordon is amazing as usual. I wasn't a fan of all the dinosaurs which sadly is most of the book.
This series is such a riot!! I got so excited when I saw another one was out. The FMC, Scharlotte (and no, I still have no idea how to pronounce her name!) has become so popular the people of the future want to make her president. With a detour to the future version of Jurassic Park and some adventures with her sentient ship, Gordon, you’ll love how this all plays out!. But please be sure to read the other ones first or this will make no sense. I laughed out loud so many times. My favorite part is the slang language used in the “future” and I find myself wanting to incorporate these words into my vernacular. Such a fun series!
With plenty of tongue in cheek humor and lively banter, it is easy to gloss over deeper rewards this book offers. But pause to enjoy the keen observations on 21st century life, a thoughtful description of a possible future, and its dealing with philosophical questions like the purpose of life and who decides how to define good or bad outcomes. But whether reading this series for topical pleasure or for something deeper, prepare to be amused with a dollop of "more to think about" once the book ends.
Hahahahaha. Brilliant. Brilliant if you like laughing! I loved the previous Scharlette books (who wouldn’t?), and have been really looking forward to this one. The characters are brilliant, the story fantastic, the writing wonderful, and the editing superb! What’s more, as well as the sublime Gordon, there is a new green-pooey sidekick on the block! And I always love good sidekicks, sarcasm being an added value extra. Do you want to laugh? Then buy this book!
Scharlette is a terrific character - and her sister is a particularly delightful addition to the motley cast of characters. The story continues the saga of Scharlette, and each of the books are wonderful, inventive and very funny. The first book might be the best, but you like all the characters so much that any story with them will be a blast. A+ for fun to read! Please write more Scharlette adventures!
I breezed through this latest installment of the Scharlette series and was not disappointed. I do wish I had re-read the other two before but it was still easy to get back into the plot. Why these books aren’t on every “beach read” list is beyond me so consider this my campaign to get more visibility!!
This book is another great example of a book that is in no way predictable. Written in a hitchhiker's guide way, this book is fun and unique. A real Charkie vs. Attacka thriller.
I didn't care for the initial Scarlett book at first. But, as I continued reading I was sucked in. Naturally, I purchased and read the other 2 in the series.
Scharlette has been challenging to pronounce, and frankly makes me giggle 🤣 Gordon is my fave, though, and I'd really like that cupcake I was promised 😜 Lysa
First one was the most entertaining. Second one had editing issues and the third did not seem to be edited very little. Far too many grammatical errors. I do like the characters.
