KELLY THOMPSON has a degree in Sequential Art from The Savannah College of Art & Design. Her love of comics and superheroes have compelled her since she first discovered them as a teenager. Currently living in Portland, Oregon with her boyfriend and the two brilliant cats that run their lives, you can find Kelly all over the Internet where she is generally well liked, except where she's detested.

Kelly has published two novels - THE GIRL WHO WOULD BE KING (2012) and STORYKILLER (2014) and the graphic novel HEART IN A BOX from Dark Horse Comics (2015). She's currently writing ROGUE & GAMBIT, HAWKEYE, and PHASMA for Marvel Comics and GHOSTBUSTERS for IDW. Other major credits include: A-Force, Captain Marvel & The Carol Corps, Jem and The Holograms, Misfits, Power Rangers Pink, and the creator-owned mini-series Mega Princess.

Kelly's ambitions are eclipsed only by her desire to exist entirely in pajamas. Fortunately pajamas and writers go hand in hand (most of the time). Please buy all her stuff so that she can buy (and wear) more pajamas.

Alright so I’m jumping into the birds of prey series from the all in jumping off point and I really haven’t read a lot of modern comics but one thing confuses me…why can Cass talk?? This is purely from my ignorance I’m really enjoying this issue but I thought she was mute? I know Barbra gained the ability to walk back recently as oracle, but the talking thing is throwing me for a loop.

Nevertheless this issue does a good job at establishing the new storyline, although it does make me want to go back and read the megadeath storyline at the start of the series. Unfortunately I would get obsessed and want to read all the other issues, which I don’t currently have access to, so I will probably hold off. But the gist of it is clear, as they got into some major trouble with the amazons and now they owe them. Now the amazons have come to the birds of prey with a mission as some of their own have gone missing. Through their research they have set their eyes on a company called the ninth day, and have secured a meeting with the hire ups and Cassandra, under the alias of Shen, for some kind of task. Apparently they got a reference from catwoman, but decided to give another test before the official meeting by throwing a bunch of guards at her that she effortlessly swept through.

Back at the base black canary is hating the waiting part of spy work while some of the others practice sparing. Unfortunately for Grace Choi and Onyx they are sparring up against big barda and apparently in the earlier issues went toe to toe with Wonder Woman. One thing I absolutely love is that barda still seems to have that blocky Kirby type design from the fourth world days. All the colors in this series look really good. Onyx and Choi are actually able to hold there own for a bit, knock off barda’s helmet, and even get back up for round two, but ultimately we know which fighter is going to come out on top lol.

Back at the ninth day, Cass finally got her official meeting and the heads of the company opened the secret elevator right to what Cass needed to see. A secret lab containing the 5 missing amazons and some kind of experiment. I’m assuming they are trying to tap into eternal life or something and they don’t care who they kill to get it. Not sure what they want “shen” for but I’m excited to find out.

Brand new arc! An All In issue that should serve as a good jumping on point for a new reader. It may be the start of a new era, but DC brought back its iconic bullet logo to dress another good cover by Romero and Bellaire.

I was just writing about the chemistry about Big Barda and Cassandra Cain in my review of the preceding issue, but this Batgirl is on a solo undercover mission with the rest of the team, and an antsy Barda.

The story and art are still good, but with Bellaire taking a break on the colors, I may need to reconsider continuing this book. Zealot also appears to be gone from the roster.

I may stick around until the end of this arc to see if Zealot returns. Otherwise, my jumping off point is near. Especially, since I am starting on a new Thompson series, Absolute Wonder Woman (2024).

I'm so glad the whole trying to find Barbara in multiple dimensions story is done with. As good a writer as Kelly Thompson is, that one just dragged on for far too long. This, I'm happy to say, looks like we're back on an upswing. I'm looking forward to this and really happy to see Grace join the team.

I felt this issue was okay. It went a bit away from the character drama and much more into setup which i feel doesn’t really interest me that much. I’m hoping to get a bit more into the heart of the characters and their motivations then just lying out some of the pieces midway through instead of setting up and gettin into it.

I thought the art style was good. The last few pages were kinda interesting. The rest of the issue was hella confusing though.

Nuevo arco argumental aún derivado de todo lo concerniente a las Amazonas. Gran cambio con el estilo del nuevo artista (personalmente me sirve mucho).

4.5 ⭐️. I wanted to see where Sin and Cela are after the last story arc, but a great start to a new set of issues.
