Bestselling author Marc Edelheit has traveled the world, from Asia to Europe, at one point crossing the border at Check Point Charlie in Berlin toward the end of the Cold War.
Marc is the ultimate history fan and incorporates much of that passion into his work to bring greater realism to his fans. He is also an avid reader, devouring several books per week, ranging from history to science fiction and fantasy.
This is the first Marc Edelheit book with which I have serious problems. It is wordy, redundant and frequently boring. I ended up skimming from about 2/3 to the end. Eliminate the excess verbiage and there would be a pretty good novella.
This book starts with Keira in a running gunfight against unlimited enemy units that just keep appearing. This ridiculously battle goes on for a third of the book. The more I read these books the more I feel a little uneasy, things happen and instinctively I feel they aren't quite right. Unfortunately the rest of the book doesn’t get a lot better. It might be because I’m getting old that I get irritated with authors trying to be enigmatic, especially those with literary pretensions. The basic story was fine and there was a satisfactory conclusion to the trilogy even though it seemed to take overly long to get there, it’s just the author and I were probably not on the same wavelength.
I enjoyed the slow build and the action in this series. It was a little confusing at the end as to what the disunity actually were, how the orb worked, and the tubes containing parts of someone from a whole other race. I’m also not sure why the emperor and imperial ships were in some other part of the galaxy. It could be that there was a lot of moving parts and perhaps I need to reread the third book. I feel that the final book could have been two separate books with much more detail written in. On the whole it was a good series.
I skimmed a bit in it, Keira became TGTBT, the whole story with the huge background story detracted from the real, close story I enjoyed before. It centered for me too much on Keira being the empress and her magic abilities and so on. Fascinating premise but not that entertaining for me unfortunately. I liked the writing, I really liked the first installment, but it peaked there for me. I am not a huge fan of that conclusion.
For me, this was not very good. A huge fan of the Author, but not this series. Characters were not captivating, not that interesting. I love space themed books, but these just fell flat for me. I have read and reread all of his other books, I will not need to do that with these.
Of the three volumes, I enjoyed the last the most as its pacing and action scenes were well written and ended with a finished series much sooner than I expected.
A continuation of this universe is strongly recommended as the initial trilogy serves as an excellent prologue.
That was an excellent way to end a great series. This was a series I picked when looking for something to read. I had read the authors work before. Unsurprisingly, this series of books was up to his normal high standards. I wholeheartedly recommend this book . Awesome read !.
It starts off fast and action packed then never lets off the gas! This is a quick and fun read. This brought back memories of my SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape) training in the military. Not so fun times. Luckily I never had to use it…
Marc Alan Edelheit does it again. I found his books a few years ago and avidly wait for the next one. This story arc was well written, fast paced and exciting...and it dragged me into the story that I read all three books over two days. Great read by a fantastic writer and I strongly recommend!
An adventure of becoming ; As the chrysalis emerges
I enjoyed a great deal about the book! However, the main character wallowed in her meandering sentimentality to often and for to long, often without evidence of much growth.
Reminded me of Craig Alanson books Expeditionl Force series which also has an AI that is a asshoe called the beer can. Two races coming together to form a new one seems to be part of his books.
A triumphant conclusion from the ashes of destruction, annihilation, and ruthless avarice confronted by hope, principled determination and bedrock commitment all focussed on achieving a compelling future.
Well de eloped, slow but to the point in the first chapters seductive and subtle, the core of the lead character rises, and in the end does not disappoint
Great conclusion to this trilogy. Wrapped up nicely. I really enjoyed the twists and action of this story. It had some unique and interesting story elements.
Interesting setting kept me going, but the pacing is too slow and repetitive. The trilogy would have been better served by folding it into a single large novel
